Bank of Scotchland were doing internet banking on it before there was an internet. I shudder to think what security it didn't have back then. 5p a minute (that could buy a Caramac bar!) daytime rates, on top of BT call charges, I'm surprised it ever got to 90,000 subscribers.

  8. The Lone Ranger and Tonto went camping in the desert. After they got their tent set up, both men fell sound asleep. Some hours later, Tonto wakes the Lone Ranger and says, “Kemo Sabe. Look towards the sky. What you see?” The Lone Ranger replies “I see millions of stars.” “And what does that tell you?” asks Tonto. The Lone Ranger ponders this for a minute and then says “Astronomically speaking, it tells me there are millions of galaxies and potentially billions of planets. Astrologically speaking, it tells me that Saturn is in Leo. Time wise, it appears to be approximately a quarter past three in the morning. Theologically, the Lord is all-powerful and we are small and insignificant. Meteorologically, it seems we will have a beautiful day tomorrow. Why, what does it tell you, Tonto?” Tonto fixes the Lone Ranger with a steely glare and replies “It tells that you are dumber than buffalo crap. It means that someone's stolen our tent!

Took delivery of this from Asia last week. No it's not inline with second-hand value but it is less than it cost (yes I had to pay customs) me and I'm happy to hang on to it. However as I'm strongly considering another AAP-01 build, I thought I'd offer it up for sale if anyone wanted a much quicker and easier delivery. I've run maybe two mags through it, just for testing purposes and it's lovely to shoot. IMO AA have stepped-up the quality from their previous offerings. Comes with the pictured SRO clone, which sits perfectly on the recessed RMR plate. However at this time I cannot include any mounting screws, as they weren't in the box. I have asked the retailer to send me some and if they arrived before this sells, I'm happy to include them. I've listed as "used" because minor paint rubbing is unavoidable, even during minimal use or stripping to clean and lube etc. However it hasn't been anywhere near a skirmish. Stated price includes PayPal fees and tracked postage. Please ask any questions via PM, as I don't get notifications from the listing.

  10. Hah, too late, my Fast Fits have just arrived. And with the news that the Special Ops new CQB site - currently referred to as "The Barn" - is going ahead. maybe I should swap 'em for the M-Pacts. I did at least get the right size. Unlike the British Army "crap hat" that I just got off eBay. Turns out measuring your own head must be harder than it looks, I think I was out by 2cm too big. My head isn't quite as huge as I thought, just still a bit square

  14. I personally wouldn't run a one point sling since I ran a one point sling with my Cyma mp5k and it snapped off as soon as I started running and it bounced around a bit. Can't say for sure on your one, but the mp5k rear sling loop is awful.

  15. I'm waiting for the R614 to launch in the UK now. I am kicking myself I didn't pick up an R601 when they were "cheap" as I like both capa's and the JW franchise. I saw the trailer and noticed a very 2011 looking pistol and if the R614 is going to be "the one" then I'll get it just for a wall hanger (and then use it because why wouldn't you).

  18. M-pacts have been great for me. The armour on them are great. Dexterity hasn't been an issue for me. The forefinger is armour less which makes getting on the trigger no problem. I paid 15 on amazon for them in medium. Not sure if that was a sale or regular price. No experience with others so can't comment there, but haven't felt the need for anything else.

True certified digital signatures have been about for some time, but as the EvilMonkee says isn’t yet widespread on a personal basis - though I was using my personal one 15 years ago, and doubt it’s been put to use for much less than that, definitely more than a decade Old people may remember Ceefax, which was a form of internet on your TV, two way communication versions such as Prestel were used for some industries and dated back to the early 80s. Prestel didn’t pick up well here with dial up Bulletin Boards being preferred by British geeky types In France Minitel home terminals were distributed by a phone company as an investment to save on updates to printed phone directories, and stayed popular with its various online services. This lasted about 30 years in france, well into the internet age Faxes gained popularity about 10 years before Ceefax, Prestel, Minitel etc and has lasted for longer. Generally we won’t see faxes and will think to email instead but their value in transferring a tangible duplicate remains, complete with legal recognition where applicable I can forsee that even when personal digital signatures become widespread, that faxes will still have their niche areas for some time Before covid there was still a real fax in my office, but with a steady change across to personal Skype numbers we still had desktop phones. During Covid the phones left the desks, and only a handful remain as fall backs. I’ve still not even noticed whether or not the fax is one of them

    3D Printers...

I have an Ender V2. I printed a new PSU cover and replaced the fan with a Noctua (there are plenty of files on thingiverse). Never had a problem with cooling thereafter and it was much quieter. Cost the grand sum of £15 at the time IIRC. The printers do wear out though - my V2 worked happily for over a year before it started struggling with print quality. Gave it a full re-build (replacing the bowden tube, print head fans and nozzle), bought some new filament (mine was getting old) and it's been working alright still 8 or so months later - although I don't use it nearly as much as my energy bill is now just over £400 a month...😩 It's a very decent printer with a little bit of work. BL/CR Touch and a PEI bed do also help with the user experience.

  22. the only way i can think to get a pseudo semi auto in a fa gun would be to configure it to burst fire with a correctly timed pulse. there's no cutoff, so as far as the mosfet's concerned it's always in auto but when set to burst it'll cutout after the time you've set it to. downside is there's going to be nothing keeping phase with the box, so you might find unless dialled in perfectly (which may well be practically impossible) then you might get the odd double tap or failure to completely cycle.

I've signed many pdfs for contracts 🤔 some worth house buying money. Have watched a few court cases in the states where the editing of PDF files from banks was going to be part of the evidence against the defendant. I think the time is coming... Limited though my view is I know, I haven't seen a functioning fax machine here in years, but they do like them over there.

  24. Mittens extreme cold weather. These are literally big mittens. You will not be changing a mag wearing these let alone shooting…. But they are warm and there is a cord to go up your sleeves just like primary school. 😁 Over white covers were made and they come in Olive, Woodland and ACU. Wooly pad on the back for cleaning your goggles/wiping you nose. They have M65 type liners and are sized to go over the trigger finger shells (next item).

    3D Printers...

I've used quite a few over the years, ANET, Creality, Anycubic and right now I have 2 FDM printers. I'm running a Creality Ender 3 MAX for large sized prints but there is a shift in FDM printers for faster print times and I invested in a kickstarter for the AnkeMaker M5 which prints about 5 times faster than traditional 3D printers. I'm hearing good things about the Bamboo Labs X1 carbon however it's pricy and it's stripped down little brother the P1P is worth a look. These 2 will give you the fast print speeds. To put it in perspective the Recoil part i designed and printed would have taken 5 hours to print on a tradition 3D printer but the Ankemaker did it in 56 minutes with the same level of detail you'd expect from a tranditional 3D printer. If you want to go down the resin route then Elegoo or Anycubic printers are good value for money with very high detail. I had an original Anycubic Photon, then got a Anycubic Mono x and a Elegoo Saturn and now have 2 Anycubic M3 Max's as I found that I wanted the bigger build plates every time a new larger one was released. A decent mid range cheapish do all you need resin printer would be the Anycubic Mono X 6K or the Elegoo Saturn 2 8K. Very high level or detail, decent sized build plate and the price isn't crazy.

I always put it down to profiling.... Flights from Japan probably don't flag up as many people/bags of concern. Not sure if it's the same now, but we always used to land just after an air India flight, and there always seemed to be a healthy number of people having all sorts of interesting and tasty looking things plucked out of suitcases. They just ignored everyone else. In recent years I can't remember seeing a sngle person pulled aside for inspection though. Kind of ironic when I think of all the dodgy insect killers and Kobe beef steaks my wife and MIL used to stash in my luggage - and not always warning me about. 😂😂😂😂 I've found over the years that Japan is a strange mix of super high tech and beligerently stuck in the past. I remember chip and pin being years behind Europe, and signing for credit card purchases with random Disney character names for ages. Could have done very well in charge backs and dodgy purchases had I been otherwise inclined. Airlines, I suppose are like banks.... The cost of upgrading the backend is so much more than just the hardware and software, that they're just hoping that it all just hangs on in there.

Yep - made it through the green channel no problem. Was quite entertaining breaking out hte guns in the middle of an airport - had to prove they were empty and what we said they were. Must have messed with a few other passenger's heads LOL. If you're flying back with JAL, they will need you to Fax them the spec sheet of the pew. I just sent them a print out of the web page from KSC and Marui. Felt very archaic - even the father in law had retired his fax machine to a cupboard. SWMBO offered little in the way of translation help too, so the boy and I had to muddle through with the lovely JAL ladies. Top tip with JAL.... Fly with something unusual, as an extra bag, and they'll treat you differently - in a good way as they process the baggage individually. Twice now I've done this and got through check in and boarding ahead of other people. Time before this I had to bring a guitar back. Anyone would have thought I was Ed Sheeran's older, better looking and more talented brother. Shame it didn't land me an upgrade though. Someone asked me about a Derringer two shot, not sure if it was here or at AWA... Pretty good prices too for guns, but the accessories and outfits were more expensive. Bloody early start it was too, but had nice sunrise to say good by to what will soon be my new home. Safe journey!!! I doubt I will be going back until the end of the year, but the boy is going in the summer, all things being equal. Not been to Osaka yet... Guess you'll be chomping on he Okonomiyaki

  33. Never had a close look at genuine Swedish kit. I bet it’s hard wearing stuff. I like the Swedish M44 cook system. My pot is knock off Miltec, 😢 , but the rest was unused issue. Well thought out design. I may have more stoves than rifs. 🤷‍♂️ Is there a thread on “how to survive an airsoft weekender without getting Nora virus”? 😏 Question one - what am bested big roll? Answers will hinge on whether you prefer softness or length. 😋 Also modifying the dispenser for better SPS - sheets per second… I’ll get my ECWCS parka.

  35. Oh, here's something still available: Hordes of the Things. It's a super-generic, very abstract system for any sort of fantasy army battles that you don't want to take too seriously. It uses units rather than individual figures, so essentially you cut out some rectangular bases and then do anything you want with them: stick miniatures onto them, or print out flat or stand-up pictures, or just scribble "Giant atomic tree-squid" onto a Behemoth base, then get on with playing. You can use it for anything you can imagine: a Shooter unit could be elven archers or Thark radium-gunners[*], they operate exactly the same either way. The rules are pretty simple, and it's designed to be played on small tables. There's some emergent complexities too that you'll spot after you've played a few times - and you can play pretty quickly. [*] Here's someone using it with 40K 15mm minis. That's like 200% heresy!

  38. SWIT are rather... Variable. I've known people that bought from them with absolutely no issues multiple times, however my only experience with them was purchasing a Kar98K. I paid the cheapest shipping, like they said to do then got an email to confirm payment etc. A week on, no information on the shipping, sent them an email and waited about a week for a response telling me I needed to pay nearly half of the shipping (Which was about another £50 iirc) I'd already paid to have the rifle dispatched. I asked them to cancel the order and refund at this point, which then never happened. I had to go through Paypal to get my money back, and refuse to use them after that which is a shame as they have some nice stuff. As for location, they're in Taiwan.

    Willpower, am I weak ?

It's not the equipment thats the issue, but cap badges & berets have to be "earned", & some are considerably harder to earn than others. Plus for many of those who have served there is usually an associated pride in your mother regiment, in its history & achievements, as well as the fact that comrades you have served with may have passed, either in the service of their country, or as we're becoming more aware of nowadays, succumbing to their demons due to the things they have witnessed or done in the name of service☹️. While I can't lay claim to heroic actions whilst serving, but many of my comrades did. & then years later, not long after I started airsofting, I witnessed an absolute shitshow of a team, nothing I could say positively about their on site behaviour. Nothing new there you might say, but every one of those twats was wearing (badly) my regimental cap badge & beret, for no other reason than that one of their members had allegedly served in a ta unit & still had backdoor access to some kit cheap😬. I was far from impressed & had to have a word, quite a few actually, some of them you wouldn't repeat to the vicar lol. 🤬 Sorry guys, didn't mean for this to get dark, but it's a genuine consideration that will trigger some players.
