  1. If I started over again I would get a CYMA M14 Socom tbh. My CYMA M14 is my best rif by some way. Its also one that I use for one game a year. The long version is too hefty a lump when you have lighter alternatives/are a bit lazy etc.

  4. I've only interacted with them in person at AI500 and I haggled a discount on two TM guns I wanted. They were the on-site retailer for both the Citadel in Dover and Flashpoint in Rochdale. Haven't really had any bad experience with them, honestly.

  5. I know renting appears to be a waste of money if you can get what you want by non-UKARA means, but there's a lot going for it. Main point is you'll find out if you actually like the sport, you'll lose more selling a once skirmished RIF than it'll cost you to rent. There are others, like chatting to other people about their RIFs and maybe getting to hold a few to see what feels right and spending time learning about what you're planning to get - what do you need to service it etc. Me? I've another game tonight and then my next one will by my 3rd (well 5th but let's not get into that) then I'll be sorted for UKARA and spending the cash I've saved up while getting the games in. I've had 3 of 4 RIFs in pole position to be my first but I think I've now settled on something that I like the look of and is hopefully not built of cheese - that said I've been making the most of being able to buy accessories and kit without UKARA 😁

  6. What brand are you looking at? I don't have personal experience of them. Owners can be observed to have huge grins on their faces when they're gassed just right and cycling properly, but I wouldn't get one as a first-and-only gun. Mags are eye-wateringly expensive, and gas is more expensive to run versus just slapping mid or high caps into a basic AEG and hosing. We always recommend renting and playing at least once first before buying anything, as you may find that the reality of playing airsoft doesn't match the YouTube promises. The classifieds are full of "never skirmished" regret purchases.

  9. Well, after a bunch of research I ordered a Balystik HPR800C V2 Regulator, Balystik Deluxe Line and a Valken V2.0 48ci 3K tank. I think that'll all work together. 🤷🏼

  10. Oh I appreciate the effort that goes into getting a decent looking weathered effect and how easy it is to mess up. Thats why I took the easier route with my AK and just didn't bother cleaning it

Now im thinking of maybe selling some but not sure if people wpuld be interested. Would love to know peoples oppinion on these, and how much should one be priced.

  22. Sites vary on the definition and often different Marshall’s interpret it differently. No surprise. My local site(s) are full face for under eighteens. I think one of them is happy for that to be separate eyepro and face shield. If I had to choose I’d recommend a quality full face in one mask paintball style for everyone, particularly on big games. Mostly as popping up from cover it’s not unknown to get full auto from trigger happy “friends” who are behind you. More chance of this catching you on the angle of glasses and getting under them. I’m a hypocrite as I mostly use glasses and carry a face shield for when it gets close up, inevitably I fail to put it on. 🙄

  24. Has been said, but it's not the law. When I started at the age of 14, I wore only safety glasses because my site was okay with that (this was back when airsoft was still very niche). The reason why most sites will say that under 18s need to wear full face protection is due to the site's insurance cover. For example, my local site, Worthing Airsoft, says all under 18s have to wear full face protection, but only under 14s have to have it as one piece; people between the ages of 14-18 can choose to wear whatever combination as long as it covers their whole face, so can wear what you're thinking of getting. That's just my local site though and your mileage may vary. Might be worth checking with your local site just to make sure you'll be okay to run the eye-pro + face shield combo.

  25. A file or a Dremel. That's all. Inside the main chamber there's a lip. This lip prevents moscarts from falling out of the barrel. If you file down the lip tag shells will fit in nice and snug. Of course this means that if you try and use moscarts again they may fall out, so useless for them. Make sure you grind it off evenly, so the tag shell sits centralised in the chamber. Been using it for about a year with this modification and it works perfectly.

  30. Lies. When I had the SSX I could barely get two mags worth from a single gas fill (that's 50 bbs). TM Mk23s can easily push 80/90 shots from a single fill because well, TM and tolerances and shit.

  31. I guess that's KWA for you. I had a KWA G19 that had roughly the same performance, out of a full magazine (25 rounds if I'm not mistaken) it could fire about 10 before running out of gas, and that was in summer when it's 30°+ here.

  32. Is this a recent thing? Temperature drop means gas efficency will be down and once it gets down to single digits a lot of pistols will be next to useless. Simple answer is something Tokyo marui they have the best design/quality control and being mainly plastic they are much more gas efficient than the metal clones. If you want a 1911 the M45A1 is the most recent TM design and has very good efficiency for a single stack. I personal rate the HK45 Tactical. It's a double stack mag so large gas capacity. Grip is adjustable depending on hand size, controls are ambi, comes with a threaded barrel so can fit a pistol tracer. If you want to go cheap the AAP-01 is really good value for money and has massive after market support. They do gave a reputation for breaking though.

  36. let this be a lesson kids. generally we understand 2-toning is a necessary evil to allow us to have our hobby still, and mostly we don't care if you turn up with a generic m4/1k painted in bright colours. but if you 2-tone something nice we absolutely can, and will, judge you for that.

    Gun picture thread

I wasn't going to turn this into a huge build I swear. It's not even finished yet. I'm still waiting for a sun shade for the scope and I haven't installed the new outer barrel. I'm also thinking it needs a suppressor sleeve and maybe some scrim net. The suppressor and weighted piston with air break piston head should make it whisper quiet. Edit. Just installed the fluted outer barrel. Looks badass

    Ideal sniper sidearm

I know we're talking about quiet, but since the thread title is "ideal sniper sidearm" I feel obliged to bring up the other side of the argument of "loud and proud". Yes the TM mk23 is, in my opinion, the best quiet sidearm, but the only time we use our sidearm when sniping is either on the move or if somebody gets too close and even then you're likely not taking out 2+ people if they're close to you with a mk23. So I introduce to you the other side of the debate and say that a compact SMG like an mp7 or mp5k or p90 would also serve as a good sidearm for a sniper. Nowhere near as silent, but if you're moving and don't want to give away your position, trust in your stealth and go to ground. If you're moving and you want to engage, you'll have a much better chance of winning that engagement against 2+ people (though the mk23 is better against 1 person by themselves for sure). Similarly, if they're within your MED and they don't know where you are, you can go to ground and wait for them to pass, or if they do know where you are again you're far more likely to win that engagement with an SMG than a mk23. Basically, a mk23 is a great pistol and I have one and would highly recommend one as a sniper sidearm if you want to go quiet. It's by far my best stealth sidearm and I used it essentially as a primary weapon with a Cyma spring tri-shot as my "secondary" at a private game at the UCAP tunnels; was hilarious people having no idea where they were getting shot from and it went well with my costume as a cyberpunk/noir corporate operative silently taking people out. Even managed to knife kill the juggernaut (knife kills were the only way to temporarily remove the juggernaut and his scary full auto LMG from game). However, it's awful at any kind of quick shooting because the trigger pull is long and squishy thanks to it being a NBB. I also have an mp7 that I carry in a thigh holster, an mp5k I carry on a sling, and more GBBs than I can shake a stick at because I love pistols and I would say they ALL have their uses as sniper sidearms (even if GBB pistols have their main selling point as "they're fun and cool to shoot") Anyway, feel free to also ignore me as your son says he wants something quiet. I'm just highlighting other considerations for sniper secondaries as someone who has been doing it for 17 years or so.
