The 'What have you just bought' Thread

Well I have finally got my hands on it!! The Umarex/VFC H&K PSG-1 Gas blow back DMR! That title is nearly as long as the Rifle itself! This thing is huge! I have just got back from collecting it from Combat South, thanks to Russ and Mark for sorting this out. Totally hassle free and the best ever customer service. I enquired with Russ wether he can get one and nothing was to much trouble. Ordered on Saturday and got it today (Thursday). No deposit or assurance needed as I have purchased off them before. Top bloke, top shop. Anyway, I have fitted a Harris bipod on it and will be fitting the Scope from the Tarran TTR-1 MWS for now. I may have a look around for a TM copy of the original scope but the one I have with the low riser should do quite well for the moment. I also ordered another mag so I can head out to the field asap (taking the other half away to a Spa Hotel this weekend to score some brownie points) so it won’t be for a week or so. Anyway, I am going to gas this thing up and give it a go in the Garden. I have about 45m if I shoot diagonally so should get a good idea of how it shoots. Oh and I took one photo with my TM MWS Block 1 for size comparison. The MWS looks like a pistol compared to it!3 points -

WE Apache MP5 | £350 with one mag | extras available

This advert is COMPLETED!

In Brief In full working order, this WE Apache MP5 package potentially comes with everything you need to skirmish, plus extras to customise your RIF. Pricing details just below, read on further down for detailed descriptions. Collection would be preferred from Hinckley in Leicestershire, as this is a heavy old package. Also gives the buyer the chance to see the RIF before buying, and have a brief tutorial with me. Would consider meeting someone halfway if it helps, location depending. Pricing and extras Apache MP5 with one mag ~ £350 (Boxed with solid stock, standard handguard, upgraded barrel and bucking, spares, and 1 magazine only) Extra Magazines +£50 each (4 extra mags available, to make 5 in total) Collapsible Stock +£90 (as new) Genuine Surefire Torch Handguard +£250 *** SOLD *** I’m perfectly happy for you to pick and mix whatever you want from the above list. Whatever is left after the RIF is sold, I will sell individually thereafter. Providence I bought this RIF around 18 months ago from another member of this forum, and I’ve used it well over that time. The sticker on the box shows the RIF was originally bought from Zero One Airsoft in the UK. It has been well maintained and upgraded a little internally, but does show cosmetic signs of use. I prefer a RIF to look used anyway, personally. Upgrades This MP5 is fitted with a Poseidon stainless barrel (very similar concept to Maple Leaf Crazy Jet) with a Maple Leaf Decepticon 60* bucking. It has also had a brand new OEM hop chamber installed at the same time. The result is that the RIF will lift 0.40s comfortably, and I’d recommend using 0.30s minimum. Personally, I’ve been running it on Nuprol 0.32 RZRs, which require only a small turn of the hop to lift nicely. It will send 0.20 and 0.25s into the sky on zero hop, so don’t bother with lightweight BBs. Maintenance The RIF had a brand new bolt carrier group in the last 6 months with low pressure nozzle (for UK fps limit). Comes with spare nozzles and nozzle components, as the RIF will chew through a nozzle if you’re not careful with cool-down effect on a colder day. I’d generally recommend sticking with Semi-Auto to keep things snappy and smooth - although burst and auto work, they will induce the cool-down effect fairly rapidly. (See videos on YouTube for reviews about this RIF). Expect the RIF to be shooting right on the UK joule limit with green gas, temperature/gas brand/BBs depending of course. Magazines 5 available in total. They are all the newer V2 45-round version. They’ve all had replacement feed lips recently. Package also comes with a Lees Precision O-Ring kit which is good to fully rebuild two magazines. At the moment they’re all gas tight and leak free. Also included are some spare bolt stop levers, as these can snap if you release the follower accidentally when loading the mag. Surefire 628 Torch Handguard This is a genuine ex-issue Surefire torch handguard, which I managed to find in a non-airsoft related Militaria shop. I’ve converted this from the dim old halogen with an LED internal drop-in light head. Powered by 2xCR123 batteries. Full working order. Comes with a momentary pressure switch on the right and a constant on/off on the left. Fits the Apache perfectly. Lots of wear on the metal torch body, including scorch marks from muzzle flash. The handguard itself is in great condition. Collapsible Stock Bought and imported very recently from KY Airsoft, this is basically as-new condition.£350

I run .32 in both of my MWS. Both have the SixG nub and Modify Tan Bucking and I have to dial off the hop as it send them skywards otherwise. Never had a problem with running hot ever. In fact most manning the chrono look at me as if to say ‘that’s a bit low’. Then they see the BBs disappearing into the distance. Ah, the TM fairy magic!!1 point

Good options for tiger stripe?
Lozart reacted to The_Lord_Poncho for a topic
Many thanks - I'd actually found FFI - and explored the available sizes on JK army! I've come across another outfit who seem to make very very similar (possibly just a re-brand?) get-ups - 'Krydex' with supposedly a 33inch inseam on the 36inch+ waist sizes. Definitely a contender! Just wondered if anyone had heard of them/used them, and if so, what the quality and sizing is genuinely like?1 point -
The old Marui Sig P226 railed.
Lozart reacted to emilianoksa for a topic
Thanks for the reply. For me, TM pistols are best left alone. I am not interested in sourcing metal slides for them. They were designed for optimal performance with plastic slides and low powered gas, and as such, they work better than most metal pistols will ever do. Yes, metal slides feel more realistic, but Marui at least manage to produce plastic slides that look very good. I would rather have Japanese quality over Chinese realism.1 point -

How many chances would you give a tech?
John_W reacted to ImTriggerHappy for a topic
One chance because if they didn't test it and gave you back a fucked gun then they are useless. Too many people call themselves techs and are really nothing more than monkeys with an allen key who got all their experience from watching youtube. To be honest most people in airsoft who call themselves techs are actually just the equivalent of me folding up a bit of paper into an aeroplane shape chucking it 3ft across the living room and proclaiming I am a pilot.1 point -

Custom Pistol Build Thread
k.a reacted to frontsight for a topic
Took almost a year and a lot of planning to source everything, but finally finished my grail build - the Springfield Armory Professional ---------------------------------------------- Fun fact : The late-model versions of the MEU such as the Tokyo Marui or Guarder replicas are based on this version of the 1911. The USMC took base model Springfield Professional models and modified it to fit their own requirements. These included things such as adding the lanyard loop and forward slide serrations. The photo below of an actual MEU pistol shows how the slide sports the forward serrations added by the USMC's armorers, which was cut over the "custom shop" lettering from the Springfield factory. Another interesting thing is that the slide and frame seem to be a different color. This was because the frame was the original "Black-T" finish from the factory, while the slide was refinished/parkerized after cutting the front slide serrations. I really wanted the original professional model (RS example, left), but the only similar option available without the front slide serrations was the Guarder Bureau model (RS example, right). They both are essentially the same gun, but the latter was a marketing ploy by Springfield after they won the contract for the FBI HRT's sidearm. They slathered a bunch of FBI lettering and even used FBI in the serial numbers to really let you know this was a cool gun chosen by the FBI. After about 40 or so of these were manufactured and sold as the "Bureau Model" the FBI put a hard stop for their name being used in branding. Due to this, these were extremely rare, and the RS ones can go for 5,000+ USD; I assume that Guarder chose to produce the Bureau Model instead of the bare-bones Professional due to this rarity and backstory. But still, I really wanted the original model since both the USMC's MEU and the FBI's "Bureau Model" both were based on the Professional. Which brings us back to the fun fact in the first photo: The MEU is the Professional model, with forward serrations added - This gave me an idea. If the forward serrations were skipped from being added on Guarder's MEU slide, it would be exactly what I wanted. So I pitched this idea to Guarder, with fingers crossed that they would accept something like this. And by some miracle, they accepted to do the custom order! And here it is! The only airsoft SFA professional. It was such a long project to complete I now can't exactly remember why I wanted a Professional in the first place, but extremely happy on how it came out. Everything is correct to original Pro model specs, but I never could source the magwell.. Any SOA fans out there? While researching for this project I found that Jax teller's main sidearm was also a Professional1 point -
I generally like .32s, but the stock rubber won't lift them out of the box and you may see it creep over the limit on certain gasses, however there's a very simple and cheap upgrade part called the sixG nub. Honestly, the sixG nub is the only upgrade you really need to do with these for them to shoot pretty damn well on green gas all year round (height of winter at temps under 5 celcius you may need red gas)1 point

It's why I gave up historic re-enactment. The groups I was in were always trending towards "professionalism", i.e. committing to providing clients with more numbers, bigger living history displays, and showier arena performances. It got to the point where we were prepping and loading vans days before big events, and staying on after weekends to tear down, as the chap running each group tried to turn it into a career. Me, I just wanted to eat hog roasts and swing swords. Airsoft needs more hog roasts!1 point

Ok, I’ve been lurking this post for a while. I can’t be bothered to go through and quote individual posts because I’m at work on my phone (don’t tell the bosses). KM has been caught on video firing TAG rounds AT people within 50m, if anyones unaware of the affect of being hit by a tag round at that sort of range it will knock you out if it hits you in the head. (The video was recorded at Apocalypse Airsoft it was brought to his attention in the comments and as far as I’m aware it was re edited) He has been caught at numerous sites in the southeast using a hot gun, this is technically hearsay as I was told this by the site owners/managers themselves and as we all know is banned from more than just the sites mentioned in the OP. KM is, whether we all like it or not (majority of us don’t like it) a role model for the sport and especially its’ younger audiences. His portrayal of airsoft is not in a good light and unfortunately in this general society the smallest negatives will always outweigh the positives, and as I’m sure it’s been mentioned it was fought for airsoft to remain as it is under the VCRA and the last thing we need is a Facebook group called “Bored Mums Against Airsoft” or similar gaining any traction and using his videos as evidence to prove the activity is dangerous. If you want a more “hardcore version” of airsoft do a milsim, if you bitch and moan there you’re on your way home. Be prepared for all the other caveats that come with it (ammo/camo limits/ hard routine/multiple day events), or speak to your preferred site about private hire days and you and all your friends can go shoot each other till you look like you’ve got monkey pox.1 point
