    Camo talk

You can't believe what most people say on airsoft forums about camo, they're emotionally invested in their purchases, same as phone OSs and everything else. Most of the advice is regurgitated from being read on other airsoft forums and passed on through 10 gens of players with the original info coming from kevin down the pub who was gonna join the TA but 'decided against it' (too fat). Look at your site pics in summer and winter, wet and dry, find the dominant colours and match as best you can; assuming you don't just wanna wear MC Black or whatever. Over the years I've come to a very rough rule that if you can have 4 uniforms of the common military style you'll be fairly well sorted almost everywhere you go in Europe, these are some reasonably obtainable/practical examples as of 2022: Dark green (very heavily vegetated woodlands with little floor vis) - US Woodland, Temperate DPM, Tigerstripe, MC Trop, Ranger Green Light green (ground is most covered in standard grass plants) - Multicam+family, AOR2, Concamo, Tropical DPM Dark brown (probably most common, soil is brown) - Temperate MARPAT, Flecktarn, Coyote Brown, Concamo Brown Light brown (dead leaves on the ground when dry) - Desert DPM, AOR1/Desert MARPAT/NWUII, Desert Tigerstripe, US 3 Color Desert Obviously there's a billion caveats, there's in-betweens, variances in batches, variances between mil surp and commercial stuff like mil-tec, there's at least dozens if not hundreds of variants of just Tigerstripe and none of this takes in to account different garment types like softshells or GTX etc etc etc... I always liked this image I got at a game as a good example of the 4th category. Typical English woodland but DPM would be shit here. I looked up pics from the site's facebook page in advance and chose accordingly; should've gone full AOR1 if anything. I think GreenZone and ATACS-iX could maybe be considered quite well rounded as multi-area patterns for UK woods much of the year and the design technology advancement in them vs the '80s movie' families (US Wood, DPM, CCE etc) is clear. But Multicam has the most consistent results all around in my observation, which obviously lines up with its' mass adoption around the world - part of that is because it's cheaper to issue 1 set of course.

Reddit sez: "Phoenix Airsoft and NoMansLand mainly" MusTard adds them even when it's quite clear that his BBs are hooking off into next postcode. He's creating pure fictional drama. Indeed, my main problem is that anyone who get into airsoft after watching his garbage is likely to be someone who finds those sort of antics appealing. "Narcissistic personality disorder โ€” one of several types of personality disorders โ€” is a mental condition in which people have an inflated sense of their own importance, a deep need for excessive attention and admiration, troubled relationships, and a lack of empathy for others. But behind this mask of extreme confidence lies a fragile self-esteem that's vulnerable to the slightest criticism." Sound familiar?

From what I gather, sites are also banning if they are of the same company or they are on friendly terms with another site (I do know for a fact that a small number of sites speak to each other about various issues, and why not they are all in the same business and working together does have its advantages in some aspects). Not really all that different from my time working in pubs, if one local banned someone chances are the rest would ban you based on the behavior in previous pubs even before you've set foot through the door. I guess the onus then lays with that site in particular who are well within their rights to refuse service to any potential customer on whatever grounds they see fit.

Is the right answer. There are camo patterns that will help you blend in, undoubtedly but at the ranges we play at knowing how not to be seen is way more important than what shade of green your camo is. That being said, I like US Woodland, tiger stripe (not the wanky blue stuff though) and ATACS iX for woodland. Avoid big blocks of black, learn how to use cover and concealment properly and you'll be reet.

Same happened at Copehill down last time I was there (a good few years ago now) everyone was specifically told that certain area's of the site were not to be filmed, all camera footage had to be provided back to event organiser for vetting and any footage that included before mentioned areas would be scrapped. Everyone was fine with this and the majority just said "you know what I wont bother filming anything" One lad decided to not hand in his memory cards (all of which would have been properly identified and handed back in due course) got quite the rude awakening when he uploaded those videos to YouTube. The MOD also got a lot of "evidence" for goings on at Stanta which led to some of the shitstorm that flew airsofts way when the MOD saw it (not all of that was video but also the state the site was left in). Me personally - I don't have any issues with people filming whatever they want (providing its within the limits of the site - MOD rules etc) however when it comes to editing videos to make people out to be something they're not that's when I have an issue. Its quite easy to put hit markers over videos where you cant quite make out (because of various factors) if someone has been hit or not and then calling that person a cheater is bullshit. Secondly mocking some poor person by absolutely pulverizing them all for the internet kudos and laughs (AIRSOFT PRO ABSOLUTELY DESTROYS KID WITH BRIGHT GREEN GUN) is also bullshit and in my opinion and not only shows people the wrong way to play (and then encouraging others to play that way) but also shows absolute lack of moral compass and all for what, being famous on the webs for playing airsoft? The whole Trump-esk whinging I see online when people get called out for shit behavior touting "woke/cancel culture" is also a load of horse shit, don't act like a dick and you wont get called out for being a dick. Its as simple as that.

This is a great example of why good fieldcraft will always beat a good camouflage. Really anything in dark greens and browns will do so get whatever pattern you like the look of Edit. I tend to be in tigerstripe or dpm in summer and mtp or att in winter

Also depends on who is marshalling on the day. There is one guy I can think of who'd see you had a camera and purposefully chirp a rule about not recording, there's another - maybe 2 who would ask the group as a whole. I play a lot at the indoor and have never been asked and it's never been mentioned, in fact I get asked to try and catch their own players lol

Yup, I love the Swedish - M90 The greens are perfect for this time of year when the foliage is vibrant I have used Arktis trousers for the past year and are wearing tremendously well (but are expensive so should be expected) Ive also just received one of the waterproof jackets that RostockMcSpoons shows above, slightly different colour hues to the Arktis but should still look ok I also have a soft spot for US Woodland- M81, and just received some Goretex trousers which Iโ€™m intending trying this weekend Failing that, MTP is my usual skirmish trouser EDIT: Having said the above, I also like a little bit of Choc Chip for Autumn when things go a little browner, picked this Superdry up from TK Maxx for a paltry ยฃ24 Ok, not a legitimate replica of the genuine camo, but also useable for a walk down to the local ๐Ÿ˜

I could be very tempted by the Swedish M90 camo... it's unusual, it appeals to the "graphic design" part of my brain (it even gets a nostalgia hit for my Art History studies, when I discovered Vorticism) I think it'd do the same job as DPM, but also get some Safe Zone cred just for being rare (if you care about that sort of thing). The problem is it's a little bit pricier of course...

  26. i dunno, his earlier videos aren't particularly egregious, but you can very definately see the transition as the first natural cheater encounter goes viral and moving further down the rabbit hole of keeping up the clickbait. needless to say there's not enough natural drama in many places so he ends up having to manufacture his own, which is where the site bans start.

I'm pretty sure he started his channel for the narcissism aspect along with all his peers like THG, Names Nicco etc but he definitely caught on to the style of videos that people were engaging with and saw a revenue stream from it. Everything I've seen from him does seem to mark him out as a massive wankspangle though.

    What do i do

I'd bet that it's just connector for the battery wiring to get through the stock tube. As a fair few aeg don't use the tube threads to connect to the receiver. The tube slides over a support post with a small hole for the wires but not big enough for the tamiya connector to get through. Like g&g use spade connectors.

This. 100%. Nope, for money. Views = ad revenue. Licking Wankstain did a livestream interview where he was quite open about why he makes his videos the way he does and purely and simply it's because they make him more money that way. He's not there because he likes airsoft, he's there because he like the notoriety and because it makes him money. At least, until the videos get demonetised.

DPM as above literally designed for the UK/western Europe and I still think its an effective camo, more so than jack of all trades but master of none MTP. If the DPM guy in Rostoks pic was lying prone at the base of that tree on the right he would blend in very well indeed... If you wanted something a bit different I've recently been looking at the Finnish M05 camo, not quite so many accessories available as yet but it looks like it would blend in well in heavily wooded (particularly coniferous) sites. Field craft is your friend though. Stick to the shadows, don't silhouette yourself and keep still where possible, and you can get away with wearing whatever within reason. Personally at the moment I'm wearing a jack pyke mesh leaf suit over tracksuit bottoms and a long sleeved t-shirt, which is a great summer set up that suits my quasi-Designtated Marksman role, though I do have a goretex DPM loadout ready for the autumn/winter.

DPM is cheap and works well in the environment that it was designed for. Personally I like berezka for the summer and Dutch DPM for the rest of the year. You can pick up a berezka mesh oversuit for about ยฃ40 a set. Have a think what type of games that you want to play too. For skirmishing it's what type of cover your home site has. For more involved games, there's no point in buying atacs of you fancy playing cold war for example. If you want webbing to match, then flecktarn is a good choice. The camo works well and the webbing is easily configured and cheap as the clothing. Being an obsessed fucking idiot avid collector, I've ended up with loads of camo. I usually select whatever is the least weighty loadout that I can get away with. You could do worse than a set of British lightweights. Trousers for less than a tenner and shirts for about seven quid. Knock-off ANA chest rig in o/d and you're away for less than forty quid. Fine if you actually play and don't just skulk about the game zone.

I went from DPM to MTP because during the winter time I thought DPM was obvious against the mostly golden brown leaf litter, and the grey/green tree trunks... Exhibit A, M'Lord I'm on the left, and I contend that my camo is less obvious than the DPM (not that the DPM sucks!). What's obvious is how they're so much better than a pair of joggers If and when I get to play, and if and when the trees and shrubbery are in full green leaf, I'll happily be back in my DPM (which actually is quite faded, so it's a good bit nearer the MTP than that box-fresh set of DPM in the pic)

Honestly, whatever you want. I tend towards woodland MARPAT and US m81 woodland because something-something muh freedom, but any decent woodland pattern will blend in well enough. Hell, because it's a warm and sunny time of year, I've simply been going to my local site in a black t-shirt, OD trousers and a Stich Profi cobra hood (lightweight Russian leafy hood thing) and I still get people walking right past me despite not wearing any proper camo outside of the hood that only covers my head and shoulders. If I wanted to get the "best" camo, it'd either be Pencott Greenzone for the more expensive set, or more likely I'd just get a set of woodland DPM from my local army surplus shop for the budget option. Both will work really well in UK woodland terrain, however the difference is miniscule between the two and also the difference is miniscule outside of most other woodland patterns. What keeps you hidden is staying still, not silhouetting yourself and when you do have to move, doing so very slowly and deliberately. I will, however, echo that multicam / MTP blends in awfully in UK terrain. Even all black blends in better as long as you keep to shadowed areas (speaking from experience as a VC player at Vietnam games)

i did wonder how much there was to the ol' "it's a tokyo marui" argument he'd trot out every time someone complained about the state of his pistol. the issue i have with the likes of km is that's the advertisement for the hobby the world is more likely to see, he has a responsibility to the hobby as a whole and has chosen to adopt a toxic attitude for his persona. the fact that cheating videos are more popular is sadly just human nature, no different to the floods of violence we enjoy seeing on tv, in movies or video games. the problem is that whilst yes, we all know fine well that cheating and conflict absolutely exist in this hobby, but at nowhere near the frequency these channels often show. i do agree, although it's a tricky one when so often airsoft arguments ultimately boil down to he said/she said with many sites not having the numbers or experience in staff to be able to tackle the problem head on. although that said, i'd wager the majority don't bother because they don't want to alienate paying customers (and by extension that customers freinds) if people can't/won't vote with their wallets and go elsewhere.

  36. I stopped myself from railing about this earlier, but I might as well now: that seems pointless, because you won't know that they've ignored it until the reputational damage is already done. You can't trust a rental, visitor or newbie to honour it, and you don't need a regular to sign it. It's about the people, not the processes. Which gets me back to my usual rant about how great airsoft would be if sites stopped wasting everyone time with long briefs that the majority don't need to hear, and the problem minority aren't listening to, and just kicked the gits out. Which is why this thread brings me such utter delight.

  37. Indoor or Outdoor? Indoor I've never had a problem with, I've never had a problem indoors and I'm friendly enough that they'd "politely ask me not to" before they blanket banned it. Outdoor I know they can be a pit pernickity about, they usually ask if anyone has objections to anyone recording and even the slightest mutter they prefer you not to.

Good for them. From the thread, it looks like he's been giving 3J facials with an overpowered pistol - he's a compo claim waiting to happen, I can't see why any site reckons he's a net positive for them. Anywhere being used as a film set for his dramas doesn't give a stuff about their players, that's for sure.
