  3. Long story short when I was in secondary school I, like most people, had a 5 minute meeting with a careers advisor to decide my entire future. The two things I said I wanted to do was "make video games" and "run an airsoft site", and as expected the advisor knew nothing of both topics and said I should maybe do a business or IT course in college. Fast forward a couple of decades and I've now been running a "successful" video game company for the past 10 years and thought, maybe it's time I take a stab at the other thing? So I've found a potential location for a city centre CQB site that has good transport links and thought I'd see if I could crowd source any potential issues/questions I hadn't thought of yet. So, if you've ever ran a site ( successfully or not ) or maybe gone through this same thought process before, what sort of things should I be thinking about? I've got a list of ideas that could be done to supplement the income of the occasional skirmish day and I'm not expecting to get rich off this. My games company used to have an office but for the past 5 years or so we've just worked from our homes, so I was thinking I could potentially set up a small office in the CQB site so I could work there rather than home and then get my spare room back finally. As for a list of costs, this is what I have so far - Startup Costs Rental Gear First and Last Rent Setting Up The Site First Aid Training Monthly Expenses Rent Business Rates Staff Salaries / Marshall Pay Insurance Utilities Rental Maintenance Ammo / Gas / Batteries etc for Rental Gear General Upkeep / Changing Layouts etc Marketing Business Expenses ( Accountants / Legal )

Think most of my guns I run with some kind of optic except my really ‘old school’ AK’s/L1A1/MP5 but to be honest unless I’m taking a VERY carful aimed shot near all my shots are take either with my irons or by instinct ! 🤦‍♂️

  5. Competition & demand in the area - too many cooks spoil the broth. Parking availability - you may have a great site but if there’s no parking or it’s Uber expensive then people may think twice. Storefront - Will you be selling goods on site ? Food - will you be providing food ? Cooking on site or go down the vendor machine route ?

  6. Stole the pic from reddit but i had to file away the little nub on the fire selector switch. if you just remove the auto sear somehow it still fires full auto, because that makes perfect sense. cheers for the help I guess I need to start ordering some parts.

  7. Maple leaf rubber and nub also from Milspec solutions , and I find that Maple leaf crazy jet barrels work well. What method did you use to lock it to semi ? Never done it on a Scar . Nick

I’ll take a mount that looks like a giraffe if it means a more comfortable shooting position any day of the week. I very much tend to land on function over fashion these days when it comes to attachments (and gear tbf) especially stuff that can take some of the burden off my neck, wrist and shoulders… those specifically because of previous injuries which still niggle at the tail end of game days. The main aches largely coming from hunching over to get a decent sight picture I suspect, it was definitely weird to adjust to at first but I’m not sure I could comfortably go back to absolute or lower 1/3 (the latter being my preference) at this point in time. My current all-time comfy height being a T1 repro on a Zenitco B-18 on an AKSU, just seems to match my proportions perfectly… but I say all this while aware that optics/optic height is very much a personal preference (and weirdly something I don’t think folks play around with enough to even realise how much more comfortable it could be). Speaking of which, finally got around to throwing a butt pad on the CAR stock… definitely an improvement in my case.

  9. Today I learned that: 1) When making an s-hop, the silicone cannot extrude into the barrel even fractionally, or you'll sky every BB even with no hop on, or no hop arm fitted at all. 2) DMR naysays can say nay all they like, but I like DMR gameplay - with a working hop. Luckily I had spares to hand and sorted it at lunch, then it was all fun and games from there.

That mount reminds me of a fucking giraffe. But anyway, iron sights are the best thing ever for Airsoft. Can't stress that enough. Carryhandles especially as they also give something to....well....carry the gun and they look good

  11. I was thinking with this bit of a resurgence in ‘old school’ carrying handles and plastic forends you can’t help but wonder how long it’ll be before you start to see the classic ‘SWAT’ AR’s reappearing on the scene ? Not that I’d object as it is my all time favorite set up for an M4 .

Aye, as I imagine said trend is largely down to folks around my age (30-40) having hankerings for RIFs (or firearms depending on where you’re based/what’s available to you) that closer match those which most took their fancy in various media growing up. That pondering aside, alongside liking the look of carry handles I’ve been really enjoying the height of the Unity mount… only downside being I’m not wild on how the Unity mount looks. At least not on with the various bits thrown on this. Looks far less out of place with your typical modern rails, at least IMO. And FWIW I’ve actually removed the irons from the Unity mount (front and rear) because despite the fact I don’t use them much… ohh boy was that headache inducing on the odd occasion I got to line them up. But yeah, purely from aesthetics I want a carry handle on there at some point… but I’ll certainly enjoy it as is until I can be arsed to source parts.

  13. King arms are finally re-releasing their FAL/SLR line towards the end of this year. Best wait for them. Far cheaper than better than Ares. Other than that, Brit Cold War stuff is cheep, numerous and you can even use more modern DPM if you aren't that bothered about accuracy. Just depends on how far you want to take it but its one of the more easy historic loadouts to make.

  16. Wasn't planning on posting about this before, but well, UP{S deserve this. I actually had 2 calls from UPS Brokerage East Midlands Airport after my parcel was delivered. They were very adamant that I needed to check an email that they had sent me, fill it in, scan and email it all back to them. Trawled through my emails and turns out they were customs clearance forms that were needed to release my parcel from customs so that it could be delivered to me. Only thing is (I'm sure you can see where this is going), it had already been released, delievered and retrieved by me.

Given the trend for carry handles that's floating around atm it's something I've put some thinking time in to and it is the case that if you're not mounting a light/laser or only a light and no laser then you really don't need a freefloat handguard or indeed even a non-freefloat with pic, keymod or M-LOK. Especially with a high optics mount where the fixed front iron isn't getting in the way; though you do have 2 sets of irons now ofc lol. Freefloat is always nice on a firearm for shooting smaller things at farther distances but still not the end of the world and obviously makes no difference in airsoft.. maybe slightly to accuracy if you absolutely crank in to a wall/barricade but not to precision. Would have to say that sort of config is pretty close to being about as practical and efficient as I'd ever want for airsoft indoors while still looking like something that would actually work in any sense of 'reasonable' as a firearm.

  20. What side? I play East German I was on the British side, the squad I was with had a guy with the mortar, Got to say I’m very impressed with the East German uniforms and equipment you guys use. Are you at the next one in August ? Sure will be. Yeh, it looks nice but the webbing falls apart the second you try to go prone. East German is easy to do as its so easily available and cheap. You guys had a mortar? We had an RPG....

  21. This one is very much half done, eventually I’ll get around to sourcing the parts needed to get carry handle transplanted onto an MWS upper. I’ve landed at a point where I kinda of like it with a weird old meets new thing going on, though it’s very much destined for that Blood Diamond inspired setup. Need to decide if the ranger band at the front gets swapped out for sniper tape, and likely get less shit at doing things with paracord… aaaaand figure out if I’m going to throw any paint at it 🤷🏻‍♂️. My MWS in it’s current state.
