  1. If you can afford it, buy whatever you're happy with and want rather than buy something cheaper that you don't really want with the view of upgrading it. However I do realise that not everybody can afford to splash out a lot of money up front so do go for this option. Personally I'm the buy a good gun and leave it alone type of person.

  6. Well here goes. Colonel Kurtz Hes a player I have played against and on the same side a few times. Hes a sneaky sod who likes to flank the enemy and generally get into places you least expect someone to be. Hes also a good attacking player who you can rely on to storm an area with you. Never seen an issue with hit taking and I have shot him a few times. Generally a well mannered relaxed player. Hes a good player to have on your side as he goes for the objectives and doesnt just camp around for kills (you get a lot of that at the mall). Hes a lot quieter in person than he seems on here. Comes across quite reserved but definitely doesn't play that way. All in all a decent player, cant really say a bad word about him, except maybe he shot me in the finger from about 2ft away a few weeks back and it was the one that had only just stopped hurting from when I fractured it playing in June. B@stard! Someone elses turn to spill the beans on other forum members now. Lets hear what they are really like.

  8. Spend as much as you can afford. If you buy the transform4 you wont need to upgrade it at all. If your only using it once a month or so it should last a couple of years before anything goes wrong. Ics gearboxes are one of the best stock boxes on the market at the moment. Dont know why they dont have any tan ones in stock their website shows 12 and no black ones.

It is incorrect like BigAl said but forgivable.Just never call it a licence, thats like an airsoft deadly sin.

  16. Hey guys, I bought this ICS CXP08 (it's awesome) anyways, for some of you that have been involved in the threads I have made regarding what gun to buy, you'll remember me but it is two tone red, yet the paint rubs off very easy, I'm not gonna lie, I like it rubbed off, but does this mean anything legally ? The paint rubs off very easily. (I am quite pleased it does though) I don't have a UKARA. Thanks.

  17. Its getting a bit boring on here lately so thought its time for something different. We have had threads about awsome honourable players before but I thought its time we had one about forum users. A lot of people on here have played games with other forum members and I wonder what their observations on what sort of player the other person is. Think of it as getting to know you from someone else's perspective. Put down what sort of player they are sneaky or gung ho. Are they honourable, do they call hits, do they get feisty and start cheat calling. Are they the sort of player who stands out from the crowd for whatever reason. Are they the sort who thinks they are elite super soldier. Just a general player review. Try not to kiss ass or be too nasty but be honest and remember it's just a bit of fun. I will chuck a couple up about players I have met.

  19. Just my take..... If you can go for metal ICS rather than plastic receiver I'm only going by a 42w sportsline vs Combat Machine (other plastic ICS "might" be better but this is just a comparison of 42w v CM) The ICS Sport Line range seems to be the harder plastic that might be more prone to breaking in colder weather G&G CM's use a slightly flexible polymer receiver that imho might - I say might not be so brittle in very cold weather not gonna clobber tress on purpose for shatter test though but think it might be a little more sturdier than other hard plastic receivers Other than that I was very impressed with my ICS 42W rating the starter £150 guns a very close second to CM's CM's have a better range of M4 styles/ris etc.... I'm not so convinced with G&G's £200-£300 range most with gimmicky blow-back crap So I still rate CM Starter's up to £150 ish or a little more for new SR range When you get to £200+ well it is a whole new ball game as numerous others come into the equation Both of these companies are well respected and pi$$ all over another Taiwan aeg - SRC (SRC starters are $hit in comparison to the above mofo's)

  20. Yeah exactly once you've got it setup right then it shouldn't need to be taken out. My stock came from Tiger111HK for £65 plus postage. There's a couple of UK sellers but they are £100 plus. After receiving it I found out Fubar sell a clone for like £30 or something. Yeah AP have been slow lately, it took them 6 days to dispatch my charging handle.

  30. Er, on a serious note let's just remember that a valid defence isn't clarified but that doesn't mean you shouldn't be careful. Again, I've been without UKARA for going on two years now but I keep a copious record of my attendances just in case. If you're reading this in two years time and you've just started airsoft then firstly, well done for getting the search to work in IPB. Secondly, if airsoft isn't banned already then don't be naughty - have a defence. There - our disclaimer is done.

The tan is pretty cool against the OD too. Not sure if any companies are doing a repro of the new LLMs yet. I'm finishing up my M870 build which has been nothing but a pain. Still the cylinder to troubleshoot and lots of external bits like the sling mount and sling in the post, but had it mostly assembled anyway so put it together: Happy with the results so far.

I think this is the first time I've been back on the forums in literally months. =[ I've more or less dropped the hobby whilst I sort my finances out, sort a car out, and sort out a house. It's a 3 year plan but hopefully it won't take that long. Despite not playing for months, I am still buying stuff though, because y'know, nothing slows down your life plan like spending the money you're meant to be saving on new shiny gun stuff... Most recent purchase is an Elcan Spectre DR and a 20mm conversion mount for my L85. I must admit, I always thought I preferred the ACOG on L85s because it takes a funky canilever mount to get it on there, but the Spectre is definitely growing on me. Mainly because, in the airsoft world at least, they're just infinitely better optics. This thing trumps my ACOG on literally every front apart from maybe size (because it's massive) and weight (because it might as well be a brick). Better glass quality making the clarity much more crisp, no more foggy view as per my ACOG. The reticle is beautifully clear, not lop sided, and doesn't blur against the target. It's also illumated with 12 levels of brightness across two colours, and the eye relief is fantastic - no more ramming my eyeball into the rear lens to see anything. It also has the bonus feature, well sort of, that if you configure the red dot on top to zero to the main optic, then every time you rezero the main optic, you simultaneously zero the red dot as well. Due to it being slaved to it; when you adjust the main sight, it's the sight that moves on its mount, rather than the internals of the sight moving within the body, and since the red dot just sits on top, if you move the main optic, you're also moving the red dot, so they stay zeroed to the same point. Win win. Though I have yet to field it, so that may mean knocking it causes it to lose zero... In which case I'll be very annoyed and counting that as more of a fail than a win, but for now it seems a handy feature. Certainly makes it easier to switch between multiple rifles as the time spent reconfiguring will be halved. But anyway, pictures:

    New Airsofter

FireSupport & Zero One are the best/most popular UK airsoft retailers. Both sell all the kit/bb's etc, just don't buy bulldog and the rest for sale on these sites will be ok. Don't get a sniper (yet, perhaps once you've played awhile, are more familiar with woodland skirmishes and can upgrade one to make it vaguely worthwhile, and seen them being used enough to decide if a few metres extra range and sitting in a bush is worth it (I and the majority of players think not, hence why woodland skirmish isn't just a sniper battle)) As for M4, I'd recommend either an ICS (starts with 'sportline' or plastic bodied versions) or G&G (starts with Combat Machine). FireSupport stock more ICS, Zero One stock more G&G. They're generally about £150-£300 and considered the best place to start, as it's an M4 so can upgrade/swap bits out all you like and they're good base to start from. I personally prefer ICS If you got money to burn, it'd still prob be best to get one of these M4 first and get a feel for the game and exactly what gun you like best, can always sell it when you're fully familiar with the huge range of airsoft guns on the market and their comparitive pro's and cons. No-one seems to end up using the same type of weapon they first bought let alone the gun itself, so best to wait before splashing serious cash. P.S. Have a look in the guides section of the forums, there's actually some well written new-starter guides in there.

  44. Needed a sling and saw a video on YouTube for the Irene Adaptive Sling (IAS) - it is a 1 point to 2 point sling that has mash hooks (which I find much easier to fit on sling mounts). It cost $52.90 so about £34 (including P&P) from a US supplier Command Airsoft Technologies on eBay, had to email them to get the shipping price for the UK. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/221296436186

    Used BBs for sale

One of the risks of buying anything 2nd hand is you don't know if it's stolen, or has any outstanding finance on it. And with airsoft there's the added risk of catching Paintball Transmitted Diseases if the BB was used in a HPA system. If anyone is concerned about the validity of any 2nd hand BB's purchased from Jedi Master or other fine eco-warrior retailers, please post a picture of your BB(s) and list their serial number(s) and we'll be happy to verify it for you. Note: (Serial number is written in magic ink on all BB's under UK(ara) law, and may not be visible/display correctly if you're a twat)

  46. I know you've probably been told this, but Daytona Gun kits are very expensive and can require a fair bit of expertise to install depending on the kit you buy. If this is your first HPA build then you're going to incur more costs for the line, refill tank etc. that you may not have considered. Just worth bearing in mind before you dive in - hell of a lot of fun though. My accumulation of knowledge for the DG stuff thus far. Going from their discussion forum on Facebook, advice from Tony Rizzo (who builds and distributes them) and others: Get a 4500psi for a DG - they eat a lot of air (especially during the break in where you're going to need to be shooting it a lot to get through those 8000rds). Would also recommend bigger than 62cl if you go for the M249 or M240 kits - Guerilla do a 88cl/4500psi too but I think it may have been discontinued Do not try to import a tank from the US - pressured containers cannot be transported by Royal Mail or Parcelforce and the hydro testing standards can be different (explained later) Consider a 300bar (for the 4500psi) or 232bar (for the 3000psi) scuba tank for refills or you're going to be doing a lot of driving if your site doesn't offer refills. Check eBay - I got mine for just shy of £100 and they're about £200+ new, so there are good deals out there Be aware of what 'hydro testing' is when it comes to both your tank and possibly your scuba cylinder. The majority of pressured air containers are hydro tested every 5 years and expire after 20 - so if you buy something second hand then find out its 'born date' (when it was made) and when it was last serviced Remember to buy a refilling station if you go for a scuba tank. Get one that fits DIN if you go with a 300 bar cylinder or Yoke if you go for a 232 bar (again though, would not recommend 232 bar as that would mean a 3000psi tank) Make sure you have a single quick detach Redline - order direct from TNK Guns if you need to. Amped Airsoft also do customer Firebases for DG, but in the UK they are double QDs which will require slight modding. Double QD restricts the air flow - this is fine for other HPA setups, but the DG needs a lot of air Consider a Ninja regulator over the Guerilla. Even the G3 isn't that brilliant from what I've been told on the DG group and they all swear by the Ninja Pro (and Pro V2) regs If you want to remove the G3 reg that comes with your bottle, then you will need an anti-slip mat, big spanner and a heat gun. If not, you need a big spanner and a clamp. Honestly this is more of a problem than it seems. Ask the retailer to provide the tank with the regulator pre-removed if at all possible as adding it back on is super easy Backpack wise, I'd consider a small pack like the WAS Cargo Pack - anything that size will hold a tank fine. Anything bigger you won't need for a tank but that's of course up to you if you want it for mags and stuff. I got my pack second hand for £35, which is still quite a bit but it's really very good. It can attach to molle or you can use the straps. It has an elasticated interior too which stops the tank rattling when you run Hydration/bladder carrier are also a good idea as you say. Sizes are fairly uniform and you'll be fine if you stick wit ha 62cl, but if you go any higher than you may need a backpack instead Wide bore is a good idea. Problem is it's expensive. Prometheus do a 6.20mm barrel for an affordable price, but the plastic hop up window will get smashed to pieces by a DG during the break in. The ORGA Magnus 6.23mm barrels are the only other real choice. I can point you at a good retailer as they're hard to source in the UK, but they're still a lot of money (£50-90 depending on length) R-Hop as well if you're going wide bore. You'll get 75m+ out of a broken-in and tuned DG so it's a good idea to do so. I'd recommend the cold weather patches as they are slightly easier to install due to being translucent - also, you can make your own R-Hop material if you don't feel like spending a lot of money R-Hop patches can sell out frequently on Airlab and are considerably marked up in price. I'd recommend ordering directly from Hunter Seeker Armouries in the US. You won't pay import duty as they come in an envelope and you can get the installation aid. Buy lots of GetSome 1000 when you buy your DG (2-3 bottles). There's no retailer in Europe yet (though that may change soon) and get the needle dropper bottles - trust me You will end up paying 20% VAT and import duty unless you were to er, umm... ask Tony to mark the value of your DG differently on the invoice Buy a spare DG bucking when you buy your gun. Most people tear theirs during the break-in Don't lube your fill nipple as you will quite possibly blow your f*cking arm off when the sheer pressure of the tank ignites the petroleum derivative in your lubricant like a diesel engine. Do not lube the output on the scuba tank (if you get one) as you'll blow this into the tank as well (resulting in the aforementioned issue) Also with regards to RPS: Daytona Guns will get up to 25-30rps on some builds so the stigma is still there when it comes to overkill in CQB. The recoil makes them a billion times better than other HPA setups though as far as I'm concerned. Edit Updated bit about VAT, exploding tanks, tank regulator and removal
