  2. Hi everyone I finally settled on my first AEG and picked it up earlier. I grabbed a ICS GSG-522 (trusty MP5 to me) and got a mask while I was at it.

  4. What part of "I don't wanna kick off some argument" made you thought I was interested in that? I'm sure you're the same as me and everyone else on here, nobody needs to spend their time having slanging matches on forums, that's why I asked what your intention was rather than getting offended and then replying. I think you might want to perhaps consider bearing in mind that there is literally no way for me to somehow telepathically sense your sarcasm or comedic tone of voice on a forum post, I don't know you or anything about your character. Expecting total strangers to 'lighten up' and just automatically get your intention through text is a little unreasonable.

sounds about right except I think snipers - bolt action go to 500fps but often aeg dmr's go to 425-450fps I think is my local rules (higher figure 450 think they allow if they trust you to know what a true 30m med is) that said 425 is only 75 over so I feel many could just get their normal aeg running as accurate as they can get (within sensible reason rather than spend $hitloads to gain a few metres for much more money) get ya gun running well increase the range and tighten groupings - then FULL AUTO THE F*CKERS !!!!! one of them should get the message across rather than eventually make a slightly longer greater shot then see it brushed off by some cheating mofo well that is my take on dmr's but maybe I might get a m14 one day or something as some places won't accept a CM M4 can be classed as a true dmr (its a toy gun ffs - but again it is just my opinion if they won't allow me to use a 450fps b500a1)

  13. Not trying to be a mum or referee here chaps but often me & Lozart have not quite seen exactly eye to eye sometimes mine and/or his posts could be interpreted two ways (and yes I will admit once or twice I could of - well have take it perhaps the wrong way at first) All said n done I'm the first and probably my own worst critic - I'll often play the dumb a$$ fool and get in to take a pop at myself before anybody else does.... I try not to take life too seriously, death is much more serious on the other hand I have options to accept comments and not take them too seriously I could reply with a bit of wit or accept them as a light hearted jest Or I can take them seriously - we all face choices like this in life again n again The trouble is often a light hearted joke or jest is very often at somebody's expense edit - removed the stuff I am worrying about atm

I'm with Duck on this. DMRs don't have too much extra range but the MED is a big disadvantage. If you get your AEG very accurate and use it on single, that's DMR enough. That's what I do. The auto doesn't even work on my AEG. Single only, very accurate and just below 350. Scope can be useful but not a necessity.

Well i suppose i should bust out the guns from the Armoury then: Not shown in the list below is also my Mancraft Powered TM VSR-10, still some stuff to do to that like getting a wooden stock and a proper more secure bipod. WE M9 Beretta in Resident Evil STARS logos etc, have about 3 Gas and 4 CO2 Mags for this thing KSC M93R in all metal construction, have about 4 x 39rds mags for this, looking to get the stock sometime later G&G G733 Revolver, got about 18 shells for this and one speed loader, got for the s**ts and giggles and is only used for back yard plinking as reloading this in a skirmish would be annoying as hell Krytac Trident CRB, just an M4, used mostly as a loan gun to friends and family when they come Airsofting, some cheapo KAC QD Silencer, Clone MAGPUL MBUS Sights and Clone MAGPUL Angled foregrip G&G MP5 A5 modified to have a different RAS Rail at the front with a PEQ box attached, got about 4 mags for this and a clone EoTech 551 holo sight, again another loan gun for friends and family KWA Kriss Vector, a heavily modified Vector, custom spray paint job done by me (and properly too disassembly, primer, paint, lacquer etc etc), got about 7 mags, ModelWorks RAS hand guard, clone SureFire Scout light, 300mm TBB inner barrel with external barrel to go with too, NPAS, Right hand Mag release set G&G TR4-18 (HK 416) This is my gun, the one that will always go with me to games, this nobody borrows, has a Gleissel Rail at the front end, KAC QD Silencer by G&P, front Vertical grip, (not shown) Real steel SureFire Scout Light, Contour ActionCam mount, Real Steel EoTech 552 Holo Sight The future, plan on getting a longer barrelled M4 like weapon using M4 Mags (so that mags can be interchangeable), Polarizing it and using it as a DMR with maybe a real steel Leupold Sights.

  19. So back at the beginning of the year I ordered 1 of these: ...the only plastic AK-74 bayonet on offer, since the Toy Soldier one went out of production. Turned out it was OOS and they had no idea when/if they would be able to get them again. It was so long ago I'd given up hope... But this afternoon I got an email saying they had some and to pay within 3 days... woohoo! ¥1440 + ¥1290 shipping = £14.22 However don't get excited if you want one: they are showing as OOS on Hobby Link Japan's webby - but it may be worth emailing 'em...

  27. My job requires me to have a fix it and make sure it lasts mindset. Most of the time that means I have to work stuff out very quickly. I can be on any random day doing anything from plumbing, plastering, electrics, electronics, machine repair, housing repairs on equipment. If it can be damaged it can be fixed. I save our company a lot of money and am pretty much free to choose my working hours and equipment list. They still don't want to get me a tig welder tho.... I'm working on that as there are a lot of places in the company I could find a use for it. I don't throw things away unless I have to. Testament to this are my PC speakers. I have a creative DTT2200 5.1system from 1999. I've rebuilt the unit several times, Replaced the pots, Remade the controller using maplin boxes. It works as well as the day I got it 16 years ago. This is the reason I've written off models like the Fn2000, and the Tar-21. Whilst they may work well for a product lifetime I want a product that I can keep working until I say it's dead.

G&G's use conventional gears in the bespoke box other m14's use the special gears - think the spur/middle gear is the main difference in some like cyma 032's n others often these have the longer stroke cylinders/pistons to allow for more air on 550-570 barrels but also other bits like hop units are not so easy to come by or obtain as easily as the boring m4 or ak's with all the numerous variations on some of the m14 models when I looked into them I thought yeah I think I'll wait a while longer to see if I really need one as much as I think I might do and so due to the internal parts being like a lottery (yes you can always buy a G&G with G&G parts) I thought - nah, will leave it a while longer and stick to the normal stuff for now

The standard G&G M14 can be used as a DMR out of the box, Airsoft_Ed's M14 was doing 390 out of the box. Apparently it was a really good shooter after he'd installed a tightbore and when using heavyweight ammunition.

Very much looking forward to this. When they release an opening/first skirmish date, anyone fancy forming an AF-UK team?

If you do want a 350fps AEG you can use in a dmr-ish way, I'd recommend the g&g ebr-l. Completely impractical to run around with (VERY front heavy), but if you like to sit back then the one I used had excellent range and accuracy for a stock gun. And if you did one day want to turn it into a full dmr, it has the look for it. Just make sure you get a good sling and a grip pod...

  38. Well, I got to the U.S. of A and realized something about my current situation pertaining to this fabulous sport. I had basically no useable guns, an extremely limited load out, no gas, and only a few cheap batteries and BBs to go around... So let the games begin! First off, I was working at the Rogers Holster Company, so I was able to get the following for cheap: 1x ProFit 578 left black holster 3x ProFit 578 left shims 1x ProFit 578 right shim 1x Universal Magazine Pouch belt FDE 4x Universal Magazine Pouch MOLLE FDE 4x Universal Magazine Pouch MOLLE black 1x Rogers Quick Attach Sight Mount 1x Rogers Rail Light 2x MLS Male FDE 2x MLS Female FDE 1x MMLS Male FG 1x MMLS Female FG 1x Paddle Mount left black 1x Belt Mount left black So that got me the pouches and holsters I needed. Then I needed clothing and such. From PROPPER: 2x PROPPER STL II FDE 2x PROPPER STL II black Now I can look proper (pun intended). But unless I want to throw budget BBs at people, I need guns. From my new US forum: KAA Stoner LMG (happiness) E&L AKS-74 (finally got an AK) 2x G&P AK 130 rnd midcaps 4x CYMA AK 130 rnd midcaps From Tokyo Model: 1x Archives Ivory Frame 1x WEI Tech frame black/gold 1x Xcortech tracer/chronograph From Evike: 1x 8.4v 1600MaH stick 1x smart charger 2000 0.25g Madbull Red Tracer BBs 1x Angel Customs 3 stage G17 recoil spring From Airsoft Barracks (my local store): 1x WE G17 mag 1x Umarex Blow Back Gas 1x Python TBB 6.02mm G17 barrel I think that's enough for now

  40. My wife said recently "With all my friends they seem to be worried their husband is going to come home drunk, in the arms of some other woman or out with the lads moaning about their wives. At least with you I know you are so sad that you will just be off playing armies or doing some other sad hobby - it's quite comforting" I think that means she's generally supportive

  44. Lapping a cheap barrel will not get the same results as buying a decent barrel. Its not about the polish more about the straightness and consistency of bore. Companies like Pdi, prommy and orga have specialist tooling and machinery to get their barrels as perfect as possible the cheap manufacturers dont even come close to the same level of accuracy. I will have a go at making anything but would leave a barrel well alone.

  45. You guys are all stars! Granted you have changed what I'm looking at a fair bit, but that is good. I'm still working through gear, I found a page on one website with exploded diagrams of the guns. And that has been helping a lot. And I have acess to a setup L85a2 so I think my next port of call is a cup of cofee and a good chat with the owner. Then perhaps a few hours shooting with it to evaluate it. Barrel wise I did a fairly extensive module in material science at university. I've looked into the barels available and provided the tollerances listed are correct I think I can work with a stainless steel uncoated model I have a vernier guage and some micrometers and know what to do with them. I have a range of sharpening hones for my other big hobby (cut throat razors). And stones that rate from 1K grit to 20K grit (naniwa chosera/suherio), + graded Chromeoxide powder (60K) and diamond lapping fluids (decimal micron grades). With those I can polish stainless up to mirror finished internally using slurries and wadding. And with that I should be able to make a cheaper barrel perform a bit better by removing all machining marks. Stainless is horrible to work with tool steel would be better but it's still workable provided I go at it correctly (stainless will pull and slough rather than grind in a lot of cases the solution is less speed and more time). I'm looking into second hand as well. I'm have no problem with a faulty gun. I'm capable of rewinding motors, soldering cleanly, and re-wirewing. As well as rebuilding a gearbox with a diagram. Provided I can see it I can do it, It can't be any harder than an engine or vehicle gearbox and I've done plenty of those.

  46. So what does improve accuracy then? Tighter bore, Better inner barrel spacing, better air regulation without internal system leakage. Higher quality BB and more weight if windy. I'm working through a load of websites now, Looking at several options. I'm concirened about a few things and am getting sidetracked pretty quickly having to look into gearboxes and switchgear. I've done some reading on how the mosfets work and why arc suppression is needed with a higher C rating. There is a lot to take in. There are several guns appearing that are certainly within budget. The JG's Civilian Aug A1. It would need some tweaking, A seperate selector switch for single auto. Tigher barrel. The magazine quality appears to be an issue. The Famas seems like it might be a contender as well. I'm still working reviews atm so everything is still in speculation. I will look through everything and every design internally and externally before I start to look for shops with stock to visit. My location is Coventry. We have The Grange locally (350fps auto 0% tollerance on fps) and I belive fireball is pretty close as well.
