What part of "I don't wanna kick off some argument" made you thought I was interested in that? I'm sure you're the same as me and everyone else on here, nobody needs to spend their time having slanging matches on forums, that's why I asked what your intention was rather than getting offended and then replying. I think you might want to perhaps consider bearing in mind that there is literally no way for me to somehow telepathically sense your sarcasm or comedic tone of voice on a forum post, I don't know you or anything about your character. Expecting total strangers to 'lighten up' and just automatically get your intention through text is a little unreasonable.3 points

sounds about right except I think snipers - bolt action go to 500fps but often aeg dmr's go to 425-450fps I think is my local rules (higher figure 450 think they allow if they trust you to know what a true 30m med is) that said 425 is only 75 over so I feel many could just get their normal aeg running as accurate as they can get (within sensible reason rather than spend $hitloads to gain a few metres for much more money) get ya gun running well increase the range and tighten groupings - then FULL AUTO THE F*CKERS !!!!! one of them should get the message across rather than eventually make a slightly longer greater shot then see it brushed off by some cheating mofo well that is my take on dmr's but maybe I might get a m14 one day or something as some places won't accept a CM M4 can be classed as a true dmr (its a toy gun ffs - but again it is just my opinion if they won't allow me to use a 450fps b500a1)3 points -

I try not to take life too seriously, death is much more serious on the other hand I have options to accept comments and not take them too seriously I could reply with a bit of wit or accept them as a light hearted jest Or I can take them seriously - we all face choices like this in life again n again The trouble is often a light hearted joke or jest is very often at somebody's expense edit - removed the stuff I am worrying about atm2 points -

I'm with Duck on this. DMRs don't have too much extra range but the MED is a big disadvantage. If you get your AEG very accurate and use it on single, that's DMR enough. That's what I do. The auto doesn't even work on my AEG. Single only, very accurate and just below 350. Scope can be useful but not a necessity.2 points -
Well i suppose i should bust out the guns from the Armoury then: Not shown in the list below is also my Mancraft Powered TM VSR-10, still some stuff to do to that like getting a wooden stock and a proper more secure bipod. WE M9 Beretta in Resident Evil STARS logos etc, have about 3 Gas and 4 CO2 Mags for this thing KSC M93R in all metal construction, have about 4 x 39rds mags for this, looking to get the stock sometime later G&G G733 Revolver, got about 18 shells for this and one speed loader, got for the s**ts and giggles and is only used for back yard plinking as reloading this in a skirmish would be annoying as hell Krytac Trident CRB, just an M4, used mostly as a loan gun to friends and family when they come Airsofting, some cheapo KAC QD Silencer, Clone MAGPUL MBUS Sights and Clone MAGPUL Angled foregrip G&G MP5 A5 modified to have a different RAS Rail at the front with a PEQ box attached, got about 4 mags for this and a clone EoTech 551 holo sight, again another loan gun for friends and family KWA Kriss Vector, a heavily modified Vector, custom spray paint job done by me (and properly too disassembly, primer, paint, lacquer etc etc), got about 7 mags, ModelWorks RAS hand guard, clone SureFire Scout light, 300mm TBB inner barrel with external barrel to go with too, NPAS, Right hand Mag release set G&G TR4-18 (HK 416) This is my gun, the one that will always go with me to games, this nobody borrows, has a Gleissel Rail at the front end, KAC QD Silencer by G&P, front Vertical grip, (not shown) Real steel SureFire Scout Light, Contour ActionCam mount, Real Steel EoTech 552 Holo Sight The future, plan on getting a longer barrelled M4 like weapon using M4 Mags (so that mags can be interchangeable), Polarizing it and using it as a DMR with maybe a real steel Leupold Sights.2 points

Hey! I'm very new to airsoft. I've had 2 registered skirmishes and plan on having a 3rd very soon so I can get my UKARA. Like all things that are fun I've started to look at equipment. And It's led me on a strange path down what can only be described as a spiral of confusion! I'll start with what I am. I'm a middle aged 30+ working person with some available funds but still opperating in a budget. I got introduced to airsoft by a friend who I'd done a few computer favors for, He took me to a skirmish, Dressed me (in oversized camo), And slapped an M416 in my hands. His expirience is quite vast. He's worked as an airsoft tech, Has good knowelege of gearboxes and rebuilds, And when he was working as a tech he was well known for knowing his stuff. I don't however want to leech from him, or get him to do the work in getting anything I get working well. I'm a hands on person with a technical mind, I'll learn as I go and watch countless video's and read strip down guides on the system I pick until I can do the work myself. From my fist games with the M416 I noticed off the bat it wasn't the firearm for me. It is nose heavy, Hard to keep on point for extended periods without support, And most anoying to me it was difficult to get a confortable sling position with a single point. It was however very accurate and great at range with the sights been almost perfect (akog 1.5x red dot).So I started to look into other designs and built myself a set of criteria based on a fair bit of forum reading. The criteria I came up with is as follows. Longer than average barrel length. Mid cap magazines. 2-3 point sling options. Under £200 with modifications. Scope and as many options included. This led me to look at bullpups. And I've looked into L85's and AUG's so far. Both systems have merits and flaws. So I've decided to make a post regarding bullpups in general. I don't know enough about the systems to go any further, and what I have looked at is all begining to blur into company hype rather than in the field expirience. What is the difference in a Kryptek typhoon and the lesser model other than the paint and £50! I have no set system, And what I want is something I can pick off targets with at decent range and good accuracy. I'm not a spray and pray kind of person, I'd rather dig in and wait. I don't want a sniper rifle, AEG snipers are limited at my local site (370fps) to the gas and spring's (500 fps). So I'd rather stick to 350fps and have the middle ground. Better than average range, no 20M restiction, fire rate isn't as important on full auto. Whist still having mobility, ease of use, and a weight that can be held on point in a kneel without needing support. (I'm asking for the world I think). Anyway I've waffled on a lot. What I want to know is what bullpups would be a good place to start searching. I'm not going to mention what I have picked out at this point because It's not going to be the gun I end up with. All I ask is when you post you make an effort to explain the merits of the system and it's flaws. It's important to me to be able to evaluate things from an actual users perspective. Reviews other than 1min you tube video's would also be very welcome!1 point -

My job requires me to have a fix it and make sure it lasts mindset. Most of the time that means I have to work stuff out very quickly. I can be on any random day doing anything from plumbing, plastering, electrics, electronics, machine repair, housing repairs on equipment. If it can be damaged it can be fixed. I save our company a lot of money and am pretty much free to choose my working hours and equipment list. They still don't want to get me a tig welder tho.... I'm working on that as there are a lot of places in the company I could find a use for it. I don't throw things away unless I have to. Testament to this are my PC speakers. I have a creative DTT2200 5.1system from 1999. I've rebuilt the unit several times, Replaced the pots, Remade the controller using maplin boxes. It works as well as the day I got it 16 years ago. This is the reason I've written off models like the Fn2000, and the Tar-21. Whilst they may work well for a product lifetime I want a product that I can keep working until I say it's dead.1 point -

If you do want a 350fps AEG you can use in a dmr-ish way, I'd recommend the g&g ebr-l. Completely impractical to run around with (VERY front heavy), but if you like to sit back then the one I used had excellent range and accuracy for a stock gun. And if you did one day want to turn it into a full dmr, it has the look for it. Just make sure you get a good sling and a grip pod...1 point -

I should be sorted for power options. I have several masterplug laptop chargers, 9-18v with the different connectors and they all have decent ampage outputs. (some are pretty old and have silly output ampages). And I can always butcher a spare ATX power supply if need be, I have several of the EVGA style PSU bridges. So I should be able to set up a charging station. I already have something very similar working in the house for my main PC's watercooling. It's a seperate case with all the pumps, resovoirs, rads and it's own PSU, Then quick release piping to the back of my main PC. It was done to aid moving the PC while I was moving about a bit. It's works well and if you forget to turn on the pumps it just thermal throttles till you flip the switch. It also means there is about 75ml of water in the main computer when static rather than a few hundred ml. If I was doing it for a long term solution I may go as far as to desolder all the non essential cables and just have a direct connection to the charger and velcro it to the PSU. At worst it's an afternoon with a soldering Iron and some desoldering ribon. It's not a hard job just a little tedious.1 point

Find your nearest paintball shop and pop along to try them on. Masks are like boots, you need the right size for your face and that's often only gauged by giving things a go. Small masks like the Sly, Dyei4 etc are designed not to add bulk to the face and thus risk not covering all of it on most people, never mind Desperate Dan. Others like the JT Proflex can be a bit too big really. It all depends on what works and makes your face feel safe and comfortable. Personally I like the vforce profiler and you might like the vforce shield. It came with a removable pivoting neck guard thing (see http://www.50calpaintballshop.com/shop/view_product.html?prod=872) that is more protection for your chin than neck really. Most masks designed for paintball (and sold in the US) should have vents than prevent bb entry though given the safety standards and I'm not aware of any mainstream ones that let them through. Chinese tat via eBay however, I can't speak for.1 point

B6 needs a power source too. Try B6AC. B6 or B6AC is a great choice. There is no need to reduce impact shock on a normal AEG. Normally they come 400-430 fps, it's just in the UK where we are limited to 350. And v3 gearbox that's in the AUG is much stronger than a standard v2 (the one in an M4).1 point -

Well, I got to the U.S. of A and realized something about my current situation pertaining to this fabulous sport. I had basically no useable guns, an extremely limited load out, no gas, and only a few cheap batteries and BBs to go around... So let the games begin! First off, I was working at the Rogers Holster Company, so I was able to get the following for cheap: 1x ProFit 578 left black holster 3x ProFit 578 left shims 1x ProFit 578 right shim 1x Universal Magazine Pouch belt FDE 4x Universal Magazine Pouch MOLLE FDE 4x Universal Magazine Pouch MOLLE black 1x Rogers Quick Attach Sight Mount 1x Rogers Rail Light 2x MLS Male FDE 2x MLS Female FDE 1x MMLS Male FG 1x MMLS Female FG 1x Paddle Mount left black 1x Belt Mount left black So that got me the pouches and holsters I needed. Then I needed clothing and such. From PROPPER: 2x PROPPER STL II FDE 2x PROPPER STL II black Now I can look proper (pun intended). But unless I want to throw budget BBs at people, I need guns. From my new US forum: KAA Stoner LMG (happiness) E&L AKS-74 (finally got an AK) 2x G&P AK 130 rnd midcaps 4x CYMA AK 130 rnd midcaps From Tokyo Model: 1x Archives Ivory Frame 1x WEI Tech frame black/gold 1x Xcortech tracer/chronograph From Evike: 1x 8.4v 1600MaH stick 1x smart charger 2000 0.25g Madbull Red Tracer BBs 1x Angel Customs 3 stage G17 recoil spring From Airsoft Barracks (my local store): 1x WE G17 mag 1x Umarex Blow Back Gas 1x Python TBB 6.02mm G17 barrel I think that's enough for now1 point -

Externally I'd say the WE and G&G SCAR-L's are of a similar quality, both very nice. Internally though the G&G will be better stock, not that the WE is particularly bad but it's just nothing special inside. Mine had pretty crap compression and the stock gears are naff, also shoots at only ~270fps ootb. However the WE is considerably cheaper, and now I've quite heavily upgraded the internals on mine the trigger response is great and fps is much more reasonable. (mmm casv scar http://www.airsoft-forums.co.uk/index.php/topic/27288-how-to-fit-a-casv-rail-on-a-we-scar-l/) WE also do the SCAR-H and SSR versions, which look awesome but not sure if you can get mid cap magazines for them which is a shame as they use a proprietary mag system.1 point -

The only thing that irritates me about the SCAR from G&G is how difficult it is to access the battery chamber in the stock. Having to slide the stock off each time and mess around with little pins is a PITA. However, its a lovely compact rifle, not too heavy and sits just nicely when you aim it. Its probably one of my favourites if not the favourite.1 point -

Lapping a cheap barrel will not get the same results as buying a decent barrel. Its not about the polish more about the straightness and consistency of bore. Companies like Pdi, prommy and orga have specialist tooling and machinery to get their barrels as perfect as possible the cheap manufacturers dont even come close to the same level of accuracy. I will have a go at making anything but would leave a barrel well alone.1 point -

You guys are all stars! Granted you have changed what I'm looking at a fair bit, but that is good. I'm still working through gear, I found a page on one website with exploded diagrams of the guns. And that has been helping a lot. And I have acess to a setup L85a2 so I think my next port of call is a cup of cofee and a good chat with the owner. Then perhaps a few hours shooting with it to evaluate it. Barrel wise I did a fairly extensive module in material science at university. I've looked into the barels available and provided the tollerances listed are correct I think I can work with a stainless steel uncoated model I have a vernier guage and some micrometers and know what to do with them. I have a range of sharpening hones for my other big hobby (cut throat razors). And stones that rate from 1K grit to 20K grit (naniwa chosera/suherio), + graded Chromeoxide powder (60K) and diamond lapping fluids (decimal micron grades). With those I can polish stainless up to mirror finished internally using slurries and wadding. And with that I should be able to make a cheaper barrel perform a bit better by removing all machining marks. Stainless is horrible to work with tool steel would be better but it's still workable provided I go at it correctly (stainless will pull and slough rather than grind in a lot of cases the solution is less speed and more time). I'm looking into second hand as well. I'm have no problem with a faulty gun. I'm capable of rewinding motors, soldering cleanly, and re-wirewing. As well as rebuilding a gearbox with a diagram. Provided I can see it I can do it, It can't be any harder than an engine or vehicle gearbox and I've done plenty of those.1 point -
