  1. Here's me in typical woodland get up, minus the PASGT helmet I normally wear that has a multicam cover on it and the M4 on a three point sling: And here's me going for the 'Hunt for Red October look' with my Ushanka and submariner's leather jacket:

  2. Thread title says it. Built myself a pistol rack out of some cheap wood last week, much better solution than I had before (i.e. all the handguns just sort of crammed haphazardly next to some other gear on a shelf).

  4. Sorry, I didn't mean that it is fictional and in COD only. My point was that any gun that features on COD tends to be the 'BEST GUN EVAR' to codsofters. Perhaps I should have added a 'real-steel' hsitory section to the review to add some background? I am aware that it is a real thing

  5. I've got a mate who bought one around October and he can't get enough of it. I've been dying to get a go since he bought it but I've not had the chance to get to a game with him yet =[ I'm seriously considering getting one too. From what I can tell from what he tells me they're really solid performers, like bigger KWA MP9s with a bit more of a rifle vibe going on. He also claims the internals are full steel... Not entirely sure if that's true, I'm personally highly doubtful but it might be worth looking into. £36 per mag doesn't sound too bad though? WE M4 mags are about the same usually. It's also worth pointing out that although the mag's gas reservoir is more than likely smaller than that of an M4 mags', the bolt on the MP5 is much, much smaller. The nozzle will be barely half the length which means the amount of gas required to cycle the action will be significantly less than with a full blown rifle. My mate didn't mention the gas efficiency, but he's only used it in cold weather, so I can only assume it's good enough to be of little to no concern.

    Box mag urgent help

A standard M4 mag will fit most MK43's. Try one and if it works fine then you know the issue is the box mag. Check the feed tube for any kinks, if the tube is kinked it will stop bb's from feeding. If it looks fine, try cleaning it with some alcohol/meths and some rag on your cleaning rod. Useful video of how to take the mag apart:

  9. Bloody hell that's a lot of pistols! Looks good though. My guns are all in those cheapo Swiss arms carry cases which are then left at the bottom of my wardrobe, would like to have something better to keep them in but lacking space.

  11. I don't do COD...it annoys me. Well, the outbursts from younger fans who think they know everything about guns and the military are what annoys me; they story modes are pretty good to be fair. So when the Honey Badger made its way onto the airsoft scene, all I could think was 'oh great, a new gun for codsofters. AM TEH BESTEST GNU EVAR FOR DA PRO OPER8OR.' And it is made by ares....not exactly known for great quality guns. Gave it no thought and assumed it would be pants. Went with my best mate to JD Airsoft in Cannock, Staffordshire for a supply run in Late November and to get a few parts and we did the obligatory look around the shop at all of the guns. I picked up the honey badger to take the mick out of cod fans thinking I was being all clever and anti-codsofter and I have to say it made a lasting impression on me. Made one or two other visits in between then and yesterday. Everytime, I picked it up and thought 'I hate myself for this, but I love it'. TD;DR - Honey badger is nice and I'm a presumptious dickhead So, the Ares Honey badger. I caved in and got one as my scar is down due to piston stripping issues and I am short of fixing time due to my current work schedule. This review is a preliminary review and will not feature a performance review until I have skirmished it in 2or 3 weeks time. It will be split up into the following sections: Aesthetics/Quality Ergonomics/Manouverability Customisation (Internal/external) Overall (Pre-skirmish rating) So, aestehtics. Have to say, it looks great. Sleek, rounded, smooth and well finished; it certainly looks the past of being a modern-tech weapon. The upper and lower receivers are made from high density polymer/plastic, however it is heavy and very sturdy; among the sturdiest of all the guns I've seen/handled. It is well finished and smooth. The handguard is cnc'd aliminium (I beleive) and is also well finished. The combination of the two make the gun sturdy and nice to look at. The actual gun is great; only issue with it is the supplied iron sights. Having owned several rifles, all of which came with adjustable sights, I have gotten used to good iron sights to rely on when optics fail. The honey badger's were taken straight off. They are awful. They will probably do the job but they are not adjustable, are cheap plastic and just look sub-par compared to the rest of the gun. First I did was add my Eotech and a pair of canted iron sights as the stock ones aren't worth having on there. Not a big issue, but for a £250 gun before battery and upgrades etc, I expected a little better. Ergonomics/Manouverability This section will see the honey badger compared to a UMP/SCAR CQC/MP9/P90, as these are guns that I have used, which are used in CQB which is the honey badgers primary role as it attempts to bridge the gap between assault rifle and smg. It's controls are only for right handed users. No fire selectors on the right hand side for lefties and only 1 mag release which is on the right hand side. It does, however, feel brilliant when shouldered. Some bigger players may struggle as the stock only comes so far out. I'm 5'8ish so it fits me perfectly. It is lightweight but has enough weight to it to not feel like a toy. In fact, it is very heavy for what it is made from. Its weight is great; can be held for long periods of time when setup right (setup will have a factor in customisation section). It moves very well. Compact size will make corners a breeze. Customisation Version 2 gearbox installed inside, so there are the usual internal gearbox parts available. Comes with an in built suppressor and a tightbore; no need to upgrade there but there are options if you want to change them. One of the best features of the gun is the quick spring change system. When changing a spring in the average aeg, you have to take the gearbox apart; which requires disassembley of the gun and gearbox, plus reassembley. With this gun, you take the stock off, and the then unscrew the spring guide from the rear of the gearbox. Done. 1 Minute max. Really makes it spring changes easy. There is plenty of rail space. The ameoba style handguard allows placement of its rails to be changed. It comes with a spare small and spare medium rail. Customisation is endless due to this. It really makes it easy to make a system that you can comfortably use. It looks great with no attatchments other than an optic, however first thing I did was add Eotech, torch, laser and an EGLM grenade launcher. I don't intend to use it but it fits perfectly and damn it looks badass! Overall (Pre-Skirmish rating) Having spent a lot of time looking over the gun, I have to say I love it. Great look and feel, smaller size, great manouverability and a very snapper trigger. Have to say, I cannot wait to skirmish this gun. Original fps was 280. After adding a madbull m100, it how hits 328 consistently with a max of 330 and minimum of 324 after around 25 shots through an xcortech chrono. One issue for some is battery space. I bought an 11.1v peq battery from JD airsoft which fits perfectly. The issue is the length of the battery space rather than width. Longer lipos wont fit and most if not all nimhs wont fit. I'd give it a prelimary rating of 8/10, losing marks for battery space, poor stock iron sights and plastic rails. To summarise, if you want something that looks incredible and unique, has a great r.o.f, very quick spring change system and is both light and sturdy, then this is a contender.

    The Whisk(e)y thread

Huge fan of single malts especially from the Islay/Jura region. Currently got a bottle of Laphroaig 10yr on the go and a Jura Superstition waiting to be opened. My preferred way of drinking is just straight in the glass with nothing else, ice waters down the flavour. Cant stand bourbon or blended whisky, tastes a bit rough for my liking.

  13. Rental guns take a lot of abuse, but that said, airsoft sites want rental guns which 'take a lickin and keep on tickin', so buying the same make and model as a rental gun, whilst not a terrible idea, might not be the best thing to do, because rental guns are often not the most visually pleasing versions of a particular weapon, after all, the site cares more about robustness and reliability, because they'll be handing them out to all and sundry, including people who will drop them, smack them into walls, fire them too much on full auto, etc. But, since you are likely to look after your own weapon, you want something that is perhaps more impressive in terms of performance and looks, rather than being of merit for being robust, and that being the case, the G&G you linked to is an excellent choice, you'll do fine with that, and it is easily upgradable too, so it is a weapon which can grow with you. The Ares one would be a bad choice, it might cost more, but it is most definitely not a better weapon than the G&G one; it's less compatible with common parts than the G&G and in fact Ares, whilst quite nice visually, are notorious for having bad internal workings too, not in all cases, but it's a good general rule of thumb to be aware of, whereas G&G guns, and in particular their M4 variants, are notable for reliability and performance at a good price. Less impressive in terms of reliability are G&G's AK47/AK74 Kalashnikov variants, so if you wanted an AK type of weapon, then CYMA would be a good make to go for at the kind of price range you are looking at.

    Gas guns?

I have a WE 888c (416c) and don't get me wrong it makes me smile like mad when using it but regret paying out all that money for it. they are weather dependant and the mags are so expensive. If i'd known about the SMP unit back when i bought my gas gun I would have gotten the SMP instead but it's always fun to get out in the summer. Plus the ball ache of cleaning it after every use.

  18. I've got 2 sets of triple bulle mag pouches in tan, they're great for carrying the mags I've never had a problem and the Velcro isn't to hard, so you can get the mags out without issues

  19. Blue Force Gear are good but due to the fact they're an elastic material it's hard to get the mags back in. So a dump pouch is pretty essential and a bummer if you don't like running one or just don't have one then that's another expense. Generally it seems all MP5 pouches are pretty expensive except for one or two I've seen such as Bulle.

  21. yeah the mags aint cheap, £36 is the cheapest i have seen, even more expensive are the enclosed ones good point on the molle vest ... ill see what i can find, my problem is i am very specific with my vests, atm my go to is a osprey setup ... now if i could get that in black This is a very good point, i saw a video from RA-tech, the guy gets 59bb's out of 1 mags worth of gas (at 21 degrees), the mag held 43bb's normally. Then again i don't see this gun as a "all day" game gun, for me i see it as a short game say 4 or 5 mags worth, then back to safe zone for refils etc.

    Gas guns?

Another GHK G5 lover here. You have to go in to GBBRs eyes open. Your mags have far less amo (GHKs are ~36 for M4 mags, 45 (?) for AK) so if you play at a spam fest you may well feel under-gunned. Also G5 is affected by the cold, just not necessarily as bad as others. In ~2-3 degrees C I was managing a whole mag, but the last few shots were starting to show signs of cool down (not from rapid fire). Also mags are a LOT more expensive and you need more of them. I carry 6 - which weigh a lot and in this country would cost you ~£250 (plus the one that came with the gun). As to reliability - they are just as reliable as AEGs however need more (simple) maintenance. You just need to clean and lube them after every day you've been playing, plus leave gas in the mags. Follow the basics and they won't go wrong on you. Oh one other downside - they eat optics. The cheap airsoft optics can rarely take the recoil of a GBBR (and some of the more aggressive recoil AEGs). After two optics (and a torch) shaking apart on me I've gone real steel (at the lower end - a Vector Optics unit). Half tempted by a GHK AK myself, but can't justify it.

    Gas guns?

Yes they are worth it, but only if you're in the small group oft players who wants to use one. To most they're too impractical so it's worth making sure It's something you want.

    Gas guns?

The weather! Ambient temp can be a bugger and needs to be factored in, mine can run hot in the summer and barely function in the winter. So in the summer have an NPAS fitted so you can turn the gas down. In the winter you have to carefully manage your gas type, (I find propane the most powerful) minimising cool down (don't degas your mags quickly or do lots of full auto) and trying to keep you mags warm. Apart from that its the realism I love! It's gas all the way baby!

  32. Can;t exactly offer a personal view of the Partizan suit as I've only used the KLMK onesie which are made out of gourmet paper . I hear good things about them though. However,as a nice surplus retailer in Ukraine told me- Gorkas and Partizans are popular purely for their looks, because all of the special forces guys in movies and games wear them. Quality wise they're nothing special for the price and not as good as the DPM rip stop stuff,Bundeswehr surplus or even old austrian shit. The fabric is alright actually, but doesn't feel like something you'd pay 60 euro for. I can only say that the SS-leto pattern is ridiculously effective. Makes you damn near invisible in some areas and works fairly well all round. If you want to dedicate yourself for Russian kit and want something that will hide you exceptionally well,go for it.

  35. Airsoft Surgeon RWA Green Gas Parameters: 25m zero range Airsoft Surgeon RWA Gas King Arms M4A1 w/ iron sites followed by ACOG (4X32) 30rd magazine .20g rounds Variables Wind @ 5-10 mph from the southwest Overcast 52F/11C Test 1 – Iron Sights After firing three rounds I checked target to evaluate grouping. The initial three shots showed a 1 degree kick to the left, possibly from wind. The shots made a triangle pattern with a half inch spread at furthest point. All rounds were center target. I then fired three more rounds after calculating for wind and those three rounds found center mass, again in triangle pattern with half inch spread. Recoil on the weapon was smooth and clean, with no jerking or excessive bucking. Third and final set found center mass again, with consistent results. Test 2 – ACOG ACOG results mirrored iron sights but with a slight reduction is spread. All shots held tight shot groupings. Test 3 – Controlled Burst Using controlled burst I was averaging 5 rounds per trigger pull. There was a slightly noticeable upward walk of rounds, but only covering 3 inches between first and last round. Side to side spread was only 1 inch. Again, recoil was smooth and precise. Max spread was roughly 4.5 inches. No discernible pattern was noticed. The test was repeated three times with all results averaged. All shots stayed center mass of target. Test 4 – Full Auto Full auto results were typical of the rate of fire. Weapon walked in a upward left motion, but only deviating by less than five degrees. Gas venting was noticeable, but not unexpected or over excessive. Two bursts were made, firing a total of 30 rounds. Only two rounds left target area. Conclusion It seems RedWolf Airsoft has made a sound gas for temperate climates. It is easily on par with WE gas in critical areas such as continuous pressure and recoil. At only £8.99 a bottle, it’s quite reasonably priced.
