Jobs in the airsoft industry?

I am a police officer and i love my job. JB2 points -
I've always held the belief that letting hobbies become jobs isn't a particularly good idea but that's purely my own opinion and it's not my place to criticise other for doing so. In the UK unless you're running a site or a shop there's very little opportunity. You'd have to look abroad in Asia where language barriers would be the first hurdle. After that getting into the job positions is something I don't think would be all that easy, these companies are small in the grand scheme of things but won't just employ anyone. No idea about pay rates, can't the imagine they are particularly note worthy unless you're high up in the companies.2 points

What causes Misfeeding?
Trojan and one other reacted to Airsoft-Ed for a topic
Generally you need about 4 BBs inside the hop tube for the top one to reach the hop chamber in order to be fed into the gun. Those 4 BBs are just free floating, and you lose them once you remove the magazine. When the mag is in, the mag spring acts on them, unless the mag and hop unit's feed tube are out of alignment. It's the air nozzle moving back and forth via the gears acting on the tappet plate that physically pushes the BBs forward into the hop unit. So feed issues are either your mags, the position of your mags, the position of your gearbox and hop unit's feed tube, or the nozzle/tappet plate/sector gear - all 3 of which work together to move the nozzle back and forth. Or indeed, a combination of those things.2 points -

Yeah, you don't necessarily need to stick to the original manufacturer, but when you mix parts from various manufacturers, as you've discovered, you can run into this kind of problem - if you replace the trigger mech with company X's product, you probably should replace the cutoff lever with company X's version also. The problem is that it can be difficult to find all the parts you want from 1 supplier, which may not be much of an issue, but it will end up costing you more for shipping. However the supply of parts seems to ebb and flow - if it's OOS somewhere it will often disappear from everywhere for a few months. TBH I find sourcing upgrade parts, discovering their quirks, and finding bodges to make them work to be part and parcel of the hobby/sport and while i do swear vociferously and whinge when something which ostensibly should work doesn't, in truth I have more fun using guns which I have sweated blood over than off the shelf guns. Just a heads up: you may find that some gears do not gel well with some anti-reversal latches. To the original question about how can you tell when it's working - during your shimming process you'll have time when you close the gb without the spring to spin the gears and see whether your estimate is good or needs more/less shims - well you can tell if the cutoff lever is engaged because it puts drag on the sector gear and makes it stop spinning at a point where the cam is off. If you do get a problem where you have had to shim the sector gear high (for eg if you have had to shim the spur gear high to stop it rubbing against a moulding on the gb shell), then it can make very little contact with the cutoff lever, which is a recipe for a fragment of metal to shear off. You can use one of the tiny diameter shims which often come as stock on factory gear sets to lift the cutoff lever up a little.2 points

Batteries has nothing to do with that. Your mags are not compatible with the gun. Try pushing the mag forward or backward or up to check if it feeds that way. The magazine is a problematic point of an M4.1 point

GBBR or AEGs? Opinions?
Lozart reacted to Mr Monkey Nuts for a topic
Gas guns are great, untill you get that slowly leaking mag, drop it on the feed lip, have to carry 8 mags for a two hour skirmish, replacing the bucking every other month, stink of propane all day, have the mini panic attack in the chrono line and finally out-gunned by 12 year olds with rifles that cost less than two of your gas mags.1 point -
In theory DPM should be better. If you don't know how to hide properly it doesn't actually matter what you wear (assuming you don't go in a dayglo jumpsuit of course).1 point

Sunday August 31st at the Mall Reading...
JamesAirsofterAgent reacted to Albiscuit for a topic
Would be nice to meet up with some regulars and make new Airsoft fwiends.... As I only go with my Bro and his mate (we have another guy but he is out with a broken leg for 4 months still) The 1 thing I do like about Airsoft is the tactical way you have to play and that works much better when people work together and get on. It wasnt until the very last game yesterday until I found people were more confident giving and responding to orders from a complete stranger. The first few were little groups against little groups with no teamwork outside of those groups1 point -
Was good, I imagined it to be more retail spaces and a bit bigger, but the venue and site were great. After only playing at the Bunker 51 before it was huge in comparison, but lack of our team pushing forward meant we tended to stay in our half and not getting too far from our spawn. Briefings were overly long but essential (hate em or love em they gotta be done, just wish the experienced players would be quiet so the marshalls did not have to keep stopping, we have all heard it before but be quiet and lets get it done quickly) All in all a great day of airsofting though. Had great fun and cant wait to get back there... Just wish the teams would play more coherently instead of 10 smaller groups sticking together, but again friends will do this and thats Airsoft....1 point

MTP or DPM?
Monty reacted to DX115FALCON for a topic
It really doesnt matter. At my local site (where I wear DPM) there is lot of MTP and Multicam. Those guys are a little bit easier to spot at range, but there isnt much difference. Basically, wear whichever you want, because camoflague in airsoft (minus sniper suits) isnt that important.1 point -

copy/paste from elsewhere I Preordered this gun from AirsoftGI so I have had it in my possession for quite some time. I bought it for just the stock and was just looking to drop my already built vsr10 system into it. So from my observations the only things that are not vsr10 compatible are the hopup mounting block, some mag catches(Not the mag release button the actual catch compared to the newer model 2013 and beyond jg bar 10s), and the trigger guard. The rest LOOKS to be compatible with standard parts but I have not tried to mix and match parts as I tossed the internals. You can however with heavy modification use vsr10 trigger guards, hopup mounting blocks and mag catches depending on your skill level. Quality is about JG level overall. The stock itself is excellent being some sort of fiber composite using what I believe to be abs plastic (Similar to the jg cream colored piston) however the saddle cheek rest needs some work in order to hold its position. The externals seem to be decent aluminum and the casting of these parts was much better then that of jgs along with fit and finish. Internally aside from the hopup chamber it should be gutted due to material choices and tolerances. Aluminum cylinder/cylinder head, standard plastic piston, and spring guide with a m120ish 7mm style spring, typical crappy 45 degree trigger system, barrel was uncoated aluminum, bucking is glued in the chamber. However an important note is that depending on how far you are looking to gut it you can face compatibility issues. I was dropping in all pdi externals and primarily pdi internals and the mounting holes do not line up requiring the area that holds the rear tang to be elongated. This required the rear mounting screw hole to be elongated and extensive work to get the trigger guard screw to work properly. I also had to deal with the stock being off spec not allowing the barrel and receiver to drop down in place which some sanding of the channel fixed that. Making an angel custom trigger guard work with this stock required a long process with a dremel. So its completely doable to drop a full pdi rifle into the stock but it will require a lot of time and effort. Simply using it as a base gun and replacing the internals should be more straight forward. Some extra notes are it comes in a semi matte color, slings mounts freely swivel, has standard vsr10 bull barrel.1 point

Playing in the embassy when it was open, four of us stormed into the stateroom area and took out all but one of the enemy team who had hidden himself in a cupboard. We all backed out of the room but kept watch on it and sure enough he peaked out to see if we were there. At this point my mate lobbed a lit pyro at him which landed behind the door. It went off, he crapped himself and smacked his head on the top of the cupboard - breaking his apparently new Emerson clone helmet. We were laughing so much that we forgot we were trying to be quick and quiet, at which point it seemed the entire enemy team turned up and cut us down. He was a good sport about it which was lucky since a lot of people wouldn't have been in the same situation. Apparently from then on he's taken to wearing ear plugs. Also saw a bloke get a dildo kill instead of a knife on my mate Scott who is still ribbed about it to this day haha1 point

Sucks to be you then, as our faulty return rate for PS4 consoles is about 6% (Usually the rubber coming off the joysticks), compared to nearly 40% on Xbox Ones (The slightly more serious disc drive or severe overheating failures) - The Xbox's are just badly manufactured.1 point -
Yes Berets are a touchy subject due to the 'right' to wear one. But on a more practical note you will never usually see a soldier wearing a beret in the field (note usually). Berets are not practical field wear and in my opinion shouldn't been worn in the field unless ordered to do so. You are much better off with a bush hat (boonie) or a beanie hat (woolen style cap)1 point
