Mil-Tec Ghillie suit review
AirsoftTed and 4 others reacted to jeremythegenius for a topic
Mil-Tec Ghillie suit review First off the bat, I love sniping. To me it is a way of life and not just a skill. OK, so you know me by now. I am very tight fisted to say the least. I hate buying anything that I can’t make myself for a fraction of the price. For heaven’s sake when I was eight I tried to make a bike from old scaffolding pipes. So far 95% of projects that I have attempted have been successful, the bike was not one of them and neither was my homemade ghillie suit. I have attempted to make a homemade ghillie suit five times and each time the effort was poor to say the least. The concoctions I tried to make looked a mess and fell apart in the field during nightmare game after game. I am a very counter sniper player and enjoy hunting and taking out other snipers on the opposite team. This said, it is a bit embracing as a sniper to be taken out by a girl with a bright pink two tone AK47. The last straw was when my suit fell apart and I was spotted and taken out by two guys who looked like Robert Smith of ‘The Cure’ and Gerard Way of My Chemical Romance (random). So I made a bit of money recently writing for different web sites and from a few magazine articles. This money has been burning a hole in my back pocket. So I decided that in order to hone my sniper warfare skills then I would need to procure a professionally made ghillie suit using this money. In this review I will cover the Mil-Tec variant ghillie suit. The suit cost me £32.99 complete with £2.99 shipping. Altogether this is an excellent price to pay for such a suit. I went for the digital desert camouflage option, this will blend in well during the coming autumn season. The woodland camouflage suit that Mil-Tec manufactures also looks very nice as well, being greener and darker in colour. So I ordered it on a Wednesday evening and by the following Friday it arrived, nicely packaged in a sturdy cardboard box. Mil-Tec is a German company so the quality is definitely towards the higher end of products. I was so excited that I just had to try it on straight away when I got home. The first day I had great fun hiding in the garden, then for my girlfriend to come home at seven o’clock before I stepped out of the shrubbery to accidentally/on purpose scare the hell out of her. The ghillie suit is a four piece system. The trousers are elasticated and feature holes so you can access you pockets underneath. The jacket is airy and light weight. Made of 100% Polyester so it remains cool. The head shroud is perfect and features netting over the eyes and nose allowing for easy breathing. The fabric is very durable featuring plastic press buttons, elasticated waist and adjustable drawstrings which feel strong. The suit features elasticated ankles and buttons at the bottom of the legs which is useful for covering your feet. It is worth adding the whole set can be easily compress into small and light kit bag. The compact and packed up suit and then unfolded. The rifle scrim is the only part of the suit which is a bit too small for a sniper rifle. I use an L96 warrior and sometimes M42A1. Both are long rifles and really need extensive ghillie wrap made of burlap sacks instead. Now at first the suit camo looks as though it is too thin in places. But this is what every ghillie suit looks like at first. The fibres that the suit is made from will need to be flayed and will need to pick up debris and dirt making it look more natural over time. The US Army for instance basically get snipers to run through the woods over a whole day to break up a new ghillie suit. If it is good enough for the US Army then this is good enough for me. So I did the exact same thing but for only three hours. The more vegetation you can pick during this first outing then the more camouflage you have. Meanwhile in the UK, the most random selfie of 2014. But the hood really is that good and stays put when you are wearing it. The suit will easily tangle-up in nettles and small branches. But ghillie warfare is not about yomping for miles, it is about cover and concealment often working from a small number of hide locations. Putting the suit through its paces I headed out to my local woodland to practice. Now this is where I would need to be really stealthy as ‘normal’ people use these woods as well. I crossed a public footpath in close proximity to some walkers and they didn’t even see me. I even carefully crawled within three feet of a busy road on the other side of the woods and still I was undetected having passed within ten feet of about ten different people. For quality I would give this suit a 9/10 – The suit feels durable yet amazingly light and airy Easy of putting it on 10/10 – It is really easy due to the lightweight and flexibility of the material. Build quality 9/10 – Really good and put together really well. Overall the Mil-Tec variant of ghillie suit is excellent, if you are looking and getting a four piece suit next or as a first ghillie suit then this is one that you will not regret procuring. I got my mate ‘superpaperboy1989’ to take some pictures of me in the ghillie suit in concealment. Rather than ‘Where’s Wally’, it is can you ‘Spot the Wally’? Clockwise from top left (1) next to a fence post in prone position (2) in kneeling position next to a mound of earth (3) laying down beneath a fallen tree and (4) in a bush in prone position. Cheers for reading and please feel free to post your comments. Be kind to pigeons Jez5 points -
" Mancraft – a small company in Poland (www.mancraft.pl) founded by two graduates of Wroclaw University of Technology. We are producing airsoft parts -mostly for airsoft sniper rifles. We are working hard on conversion kit for AEG. That will be available in coming months. The company was founded around 2012. At first we started producing sniper kits for SVD rifles. Next was L96 and VSR standard (for almost all brands and types). In 2013 we decided to start our own regulators line: „normal” and „with manometer”. They have infinitely variable pressure from zero to 15bar. We are also producing our own CO2 cartridges for 12g co2 capsules. For now our main product is – SDiK. It's Sniper Drop in Kit - a set of components which allows converting a spring rifle into gas-powered rifle. It is cheap and very effective method to upgrade. The entire structure was designed from the ground up - as evidenced by the patent issued. The whole is based on a simple and effective system of gas supply that is reliable and durable. With proper construction and materials, the mechanism does not burden other components of a gun - they may be standard (e.g., the trigger assembly, cylinder etc). Rifle can be reloaded with one finger - overcharging is very smooth. By using an appropriate regulator it is possible to obtain very stable (+ /-3fps), satisfactory fps. Using Mancraft regulator provides to continuous adjustment velocity from zero to maximum for the replica (depending on the length of the inner barrel). Installation of conversion is simple. Usually does not require any modifications. Test results for 12g CO2 cartridge: Rifle: L96 with Prometheus 550mm barrel. Temperature: 15*C SDiK can be 100% used during the winter. Low temperatures are not problem. Example values for L96 (Mb-08 Well rifle), 590mm length Edgi barrel, modified hop up chamber: As always: We do not prefer such high results, but negligible scattering and very easy to reload – this is what we were looking for. Briefly about the upcoming conversion PDiK and EPDiK: PDiK – semi-auto conversion kit for AEG rifles. No electronics, no batteries – just pneumatics. EPDiK – full-auto/burst/semi-auto - fully configurable conversion kit on solenoid. Both of them will be matching to V2 replicas in first. Next will be all other types of gearboxes: for Ak, P90, M249 etc. V2 version: Fully modular, adjustable, semi-auto conversion kit. You will be able to quick exchange your body (put conversion kit in other replica) with unscrewing any screw. Stock, Pistol grip, magazine lock – they all will be with the replica all the time. More information soon. Please follow us on: www.mancraft.pl or www.facebook.com/mancraftpl " What do you think about that? If this is wrong place for such thing, or it's inappropriate - sorry for that.3 points

I'm still a stalwart fan of NiMh because they're cheap as chips and I like what I know. Any 8.4v NiMh battery pack of the right size will pretty much be as good as any other in my experience, so if you do go that way, just visit component-shop and get some from there. If you want to go LiPo (which I'd recommend because it's the future and I just refuse to catch up), then I have no further guidance for you.2 points

Thanks, yawns, it is a great help. Some of the retailers I looked at haven't got the fps posted but, since I posted, I found a few that did and it seemed to quote around 328. And I looked at g&g site itself. They quote the irish fps ( I assume thats close to the uk one) at 328. Should be ok. I fink. ......but now I've seen an ics mp5 sportline ......or an asg m14 .......or a cm 16 mod0 ........or .........or NO stop it! I want an AK .........or do I?2 points

Anyone use a battery bag?

ebay: component shop sell on there as well as cloud nine amongst others.... A popular make of lipo's is ZIPPY COMPACT - yellow batteries and are a tiny bit smaller than same spec Turnigy ones - handy if space is limited/tight if you have one or consider buying a digital vernier/caliper gauge - quick & accurate way to measure batt/compartment/stock etc.... - no full blown metal - get a cheapo £4 one - fleabay then you can make a more accurate decision on what model/type battery to get main thing is charger - you can buy a cheap charger but will take much longer to charge ffs - don't get a cheap $5 one from hong kong - some are friggin dangerous a cheap charger can be about £10-£15 but get it from UK is my advice - if you gonna get into it then consider a better charger at around £30+ perhaps you can get a battery/charger for about £25 at a push or maybe 2 x batteries & cheapo charger for £40-£45 (aprox £15 each) BUT FFS - DO NOT PUT IT CHARGING ON YOUR BED OR CARPET AND GO OUT !!!!!!!!! LiPo's can be dangerous if they have "blown" but even so there is a slight risk so put them in a bag maybe but bag or not - on a safe worktop and above all else........ KEEP AN EYE ON IT CHECKING THEM REGULARLY - seriously I may mess about but this is serious $hit so don't just leave them for a hour or two - feel them if they get too warm/hot just common sense really but there is a possible risk - not horror stories just being honest as I can1 point -
Don't buy nimh anymore. Lipo is better in every aspect. Size, capacity, discharge rate, price.1 point

Hibernator reacted to Sitting Duck for a topic
yeah thought at first with title it was lipo charge bag too don't use them but I always keep a very very regular close eye on them charging on a workshop table a few years off a colostomy bag hopefully.... dunno about a great big battery though, might be wise to consider 2 x decent 2200mah lipo's can your gun or rather you happy to pump 11.1v through her all time could get a 9.9v LiFe battery - or say: 1 x 11.1v 2200mah 1 x 9.9v Life battery one battery may last a full day but that is what you have half time or lunch for plus all eggs in one basket - bit heavy and if it goes tit$ up you lost ya only battery no other backup so to speak yes 2 batteries may cost a little more than 1 great big mother battery ergh but you got bag cost to add to big mother battery too or say sod it, loads of gaffa/duct tape and nick ya car battery just going nuts full on mental keep a spare motor handy if doing this daft idea of mine - no don't do this last bit1 point -

The close quarters fighting at the courthouse is very different to other sites. It also hurts a lot more as you tend to get shot from a couple of meters away. Any experience you have of woodland airsoft is rather irrelevant as the skills needed are so different. It does get a bit boring to only do the courthouse as it's rather small and the games become a bit repetitive but it's worth trying to see if you like it. You will learn quite quickly how to alter your technique and it will come in handy if you ever do a milsim and find yourself having to capture a building. It's quite a cheap option to play on weekday evenings as it's only £12.50 and on Wed it's free for women so it you have a spare gun you can take your GF along.1 point -
Mil-Tec Ghillie suit review
AirsoftTed reacted to jeremythegenius for a topic
Amazing how much the prices have dropped, last year ghillie suits were selling for £89, Military 1st offer them for £59.99 and as Teddybhoy says they cost £32 from Amazon, pays if you shop around. Thanks guys for the great comments, much appreciated.1 point -
Dude this sucks. Positive suggestion. Grab yourself a boltie or an air rifle and take up target shooting. And if your feeling able setup as a gun tech and take on work as and when you can!1 point

A Friday night drive up to Mateyguv in Chester and after a tour around his amazing mancave came home with this beauty. A full metal Magpul lower, VLTOR upper, with a Madbull JP 19inch barrel. for the princely sum of 50 of the queens finest sterling. I initially only wanted the reciver, but the whole thing is amazing quality, it would be a real shame to not use the barrel as well. It even came with a gearbox inside, which after a tinker works, a bit inconsistent and only shooting 270, but after a little work should be a cracking gun. Thanks again Mateyguv.1 point -

Mancraft SDiK conversion kits for spring rifles
Unrustle_Thine_Jimmies reacted to Finius for a topic
Your company logo should be Chuck Norris riding a tiger whilst punching a shark in the face (drinking the tears of a thousand sharks out of a mug made of the skull of a bear in the other hand). That would be manly enough for 'Mancraft' - you could also produce a mod for minecraft with similar content. Other than that, this looks awesome. I don't have a sniper rifle, and would never really switch over to gas rifles full stop, but I want a Manometer just because mine would be off the charts.1 point -

Ares Amoeba Honey Badger
Airsoft_Mr B reacted to jcheeseright for a topic
Definitely true, the handguard is wrong. The cutouts are in the wrong position and the 12 o'clock rail should moulded in as a single part. Ares also seem to have added a serration to the front of the magwell for no good reason. With a gun that has that many high quality and high resolution pictures available there's not really much excuse for getting fundamental details like that wrong. There's no such thing as 'close enough' as far as I'm concerned (barring technical issues like AEG grip widths). It's either a replica or it's not, this is not a replica of the AAC honey badger, it's a close approximation.1 point -
