  1. In public? It is. Sorry to bang on about it, but this is a far bigger concern for us than obtaining a RIF. https://www.legislation.gov.uk/ukpga/1968/27/section/19 19 Carrying firearm in a public place. A person commits an offence if, without lawful authority or reasonable excuse (the proof whereof lies on him) he has with him in a public place [...] an imitation firearm. Realistic or otherwise. See this conviction for possession of a £4 bright orange springer pistol which even the prosecution described as a toy. The Sheriff set the bar for "reasonable excuse" very low, for example "children playing cowboys and Indians", which would presumably cover our infantile antics, but the proof whereof lies with us. Whether having a RIF/IF inside your car counts as having it in a public place is less obviously clear, but coppers think that it is. PACE 1984 Section 1 makes a distinction between a vehicle that's in a public place versus the grounds of a dwelling, which implies that the vehicle itself does not create a private place in public. In this case, for example, a chap (who comes across as a prize wanker) was arrested and charged for having a baton in his car. I can't find details of how the case went - some commenters suggest that he was acquitted - but the process is enough of a punishment. tl;dr version - yes, it's illegal, and we have to prove otherwise. I keep details of the site to hand, and ideally booking emails, when travelling to or from it.

  2. Reminds of the Glasgow cosplayer who didn't see the issue walking around outside the convention in full riot gear with a blood splattered riot shield and a very easy to see MP7 strapped to his leg,in general Cosplayers have less common sense than airsofters. So basically fuck all.

  3. So the original nozzle in pla+ lasted consistently for around 800 shots before the loading tab snapped. While im fine with swapping my nozzle out after a game day while im maintaining it I cant really sell it without some better longevity. Here is version 3. It has a seperate loading tab printed lengthways which increases the strength a lot. It is quite heavily reinforced now so it wont take the little faux bolt head the original had but Thats not a big loss. Now to test it and see how long it lasts

  6. Went to Bespoke today as I was working half an hour away and had underlings to do work whilst I looked important. So I pulled rank and ducked out for a bit with my faulty from new AA G36 GBBR. If you remember the other thread, it is firing a shot at 500 ish fps, then everything subsequent to that just rolls out of the barrel. I bought it from them at the end of last summer, then had trouble getting in touch, and then work/travel commitments made getting to their then Slough based store tricky. Talking to them today, I am willing to grant them the communication issues were down to them preparing for the move. New shop is looking pretty damn impressive. They have a fairly big unit on a small trading estate. I assume a warehouse downstairs, then a large open office upstairs with a new shop area that is going to be quite big too. They answered the buzzer and let me in unannounced. An incredibly polite staff (I think the owner) took my pew, which is now well over 6 months from purchase, listened to the description of the fault and said he'd take it down to his tech whilst I had a look around. I was then given a tour of the new office, shop, firing range, pistol showroom and Air gun showroom. There was not much in stock at the moment as they're still bringing things up from the Slough premises. But they had, amongst other things, the Walther WA2000 along with some very nice looking pistols that I had to fight very hard to resist. I wish I had £780 to spend on a wall hanger. Had a good 30 or so minutes left to my own devices whilst the nice lady behind the counter helped some dude pick out a pew for his daughter, then the guy came back to say that they could see the problem I was having, and would keep the pew for a few days to fix it as they didn't have another in stock, implying to me, that he would have been happy to give me a replacement - so top marks there. They also confirmed that once they're finished setting up, they will be doing all kinds of repairs, upgrades, and customisations in house as well as sales. This should take them another week or two, but i have two or three non essential pews that need attention that no one else seems to be interested in (or that I'd trust), so they'll be heading there once the G36 is proven. Sooo.... If one were to take everything at face value, and assuming they fix my RIF, then I am a happy bunny and they deserve all the success after what must be an eye wateringly expensive investment. Can't blame the shop for a faulty RIF out of the box, but unlike Only Airsoft in Stevenage, where there seems to be an attitude of "warranty is up to them" once you leave the shop, Bespoke seem to just want to keep you happy. Although to be fair to Only Airsoft, they have honoured the warranty when required - it's just the perception that they give off that is unnecessary. Certainly can't fault Bespoke for care and attention so far! Standby for updates.

  7. As per a recent related thread, I signed up to Just-Cos to get the true cover information. A member of the forum recently signed up to Just-Cos to obtain their ‘defence’ to purchase a RIF. In their actual transaction they were required to submit the insurance certificate and a photo of them playing. (Below I will show the certificate that you get upon joining Just-Cos which does not insure you, but the group/society) The ‘defence’ provided and used by the retailer was therefore the playing photo which rendered JustCos membership redundant to the transaction …. 9. 1) Go to the Just-Cos website and read the meaningless page: https://www.just-cos.co.uk Just-Cos is a membership based insurance policy. We approached them with a view to covering CosPlayers with Public Liability insurance in their right as a re-enactor to wear and carry costume articles that may prove alarming or ‘scary’ to third parties who may not understand our purpose. This policy particularly covers the right to carry imitation weaponry that could otherwise be mistaken as real or mistakenly reported as an offensive weapon. In today’s ‘Americanised’ legal system of ‘No claim no fee’ companies and similar ambulance chasers, it is now more important than ever to be protected by insurance. It’s better to be safe than sorry, right? Just-Cos is exactly that: It’s just for us CosPlayers. You can join up for a small annual fee of £20, that’s it. For your £20 you will receive £5 million maximum claim cover against public liability. It’s quite unlikely that you’ll ever need to use it and we sincerely hope you don’t! That is not all though. With membership we have power! We can use our strength in numbers to apply for discounts and other awesome deals on behalf of the club. This is just the beginning and it’s your chance to be part of it. America is irrelevant, you can’t claim for seeing something scarey in the UK (other than being put into genuine fear) and you can’t but a ‘right’ to carry a RIF You can have good reason to transport one - eg going to / from an event What is relevant is you could be held liable for injury / damage to property - and liability insurance can be handy to have (not essential for individuals) 2) Sign up to Just-Cos As you create a user name and password you gain access to their member area. I received my notification email whilst going to the payment page (so I stopped to check if policy details were there - they were not) 3) Pay £20 by card or PayPal (I used PayPal) You then gain access to policy documents in the members area 4) What does the policy say? Insurance Company = Zurich Insurance Ltd Our Reference: xxxxxxxxx Name of Insured: Just-Cos This is to confirm that Just-Cos have in force with this Company until the policy expiry on 17 May 2024 insurance incorporating the following essential features: Policy Number: xxxxxxxx Renewal Date: 18 May 2024 Limits of Indemnity: Public Liability: £5,000,000 any one event Products Liability: £5,000,000 for all claims in the aggregate during any one period of insurance Pollution Liability: As per Products Liability Professional Services Extension: £1,000,000 any one event Note: Cover for Financial Loss, and Third Party Property Damage or Bodily Injury is provided where arising from advice or services carried out by the Insured in the furtherance of its purpose as a registered charity or not-for-profit organisation. Excess: Public Liability: Nil any one claim Products Liability: Nil any one claim Pollution Liability: Nil any one claim Professional Services Extension: Nil any one claim Indemnity to Principals: Covers include a standard Indemnity to Principals Clause in respect of contractual obligations. Full Policy: The policy documents should be referred to for details of full cover. What does that mean? The policy insures Just-Cos. That’s OK, as I’ve joined Just-Cos The £5m cover isn’t mine. It’s £5m public liability per event. So if just me then I can be covered up to £5m, but elsewhere there are 100 to 500 members per event, rendering the cover to between £10k and £50k each Another document is enclosed, which tells us that Just-Cos run 4 cinema trips and attend 4 events per year Therefore as a member the insurance above covers Just-Cos and the members attending those 4 trips & 4 events There is a newsletter subscription in the account details, so presumably I would be notified of the trips & events - but that’s no good to me for the cosplay events I attend unless Just-Cos align with them As a new member I have not been provided the code of conduct (but it may follow in a newsletter etc) Your organisation type: You are a not for profit group. Your aim: Describes our understanding of your organisation and its aim. To promote social interaction between members by using Cosplay. Your principal activities and services: This details your activities and services. Where and tow oen ese lake place. • You organise around 4 cinema trips a year at screenings which are open to the public. These will average around 6 around 20 At arenio, mentio bute group may. dress up to watch the film if they wish, however this is optional as the main purpose is to view the film. • You will attend around 4 third party events throughout the year and can get between 100 - 500 people from the organisation attending each one. These will mainly be Cosplay conventions and involve members of the group carrying replica weapons whilst interacting with other members of the group and members of the public. • You will charge a membership fee which will predominantly be used to create a Database. This will also help grow your organisation and fund towards future activities. Your current Risk Management: Provides details of your organisations risk management provisions for each service and activity You will comply with all local and national laws for transporting replica firearms and weapons. and wilpons are in vil of re puaional laws when replica frearms. You will comply with all third party regulations. You complete written risk assessments. Inductions are given to all new members regarding the organisation's code of conduct. You have a written safeguarding process in place. Your structure You have at least three trustees. Previous claims New organisation so no previous claims. Currently the policy does not relate to the public web page, and does not insure members other than as part of a Just-Cos group attended event - the cover is for the groups liabilty as a result of its ‘advice’ / ‘services’ I don’t give advice on behalf of Just-Cos, I won’t be providing services as Just-Cos Where I do provide advice and/or services it is part of other organisations / groups / as an event organiser - which do not fall within this insurance I could make use of the peace of mind of public liability insurance to cover my personal liability in activities I participate in - At comicons for example I am covered as staff / volunteer in events and with traders, but not for any actions should I choose to Cosplay beyond the scope of staff / volunteer This sums up as a mis-sold policy, not fit for purpose

  10. It's a different platform admittedly, but on my MB01 when I added in a new piston, I also had the same problem as you describe. My problem was that the piston wasn't quite able to move back far enough in the cylinder for the sear in the trigger unit to pop up and then catch and hold the corresponding ridge around the piston. It was a few years back, but from memory, it was very easily solved in my case by using a metal file to remove a few MM thickness of metal off the rear of the piston so that it could move further backwards in the cylinder.

  11. Perhaps I should be more specific..... Transporting a RIF sensibly to a skirmish (or home, shop).... I don't mean walking around as if you think you're John Wick. If you're pulled over by the fuzz with a load of RIFs in your car and you act like a dick with or without a reason for them being there....expect to get tazed and arrested.

  14. So recently I grabbed a tokyo marui type 89 and I had seen lots of videos of the nozzle mangling itself so I designed and 3d printed a copy of the tm part. It works just as well as the original and I can replace it indefinitely. This isn't the fist time I've done something like this and im even in the process of designing my own nozzles and fire control mechanisms from the ground up. So the question is if I offered a service of copying parts in rare guns and making spares or replacements would anyone be interested in that sort of thing? Obviously 3d printing has its limitations but theres no reason that when I have a printed part done the file cant be handed over to a cnc machining company or such particularly for trigger mechanism components.

  16. I've been using the Creality K1 since Christmas and haven't had any problems yet. Pretty much plugged it in, let it do it's thing and it was good to go. Admittedly it's only been a few months but the only niggle has been the occasional nozzle blockage. So far I've only printed with PLA but shortly I'll give ABS a try, mainly to get a better finish using vapour smoothing.

I've had a couple of instances where I've been stopped by the police and they could've made an easy arrest but didn't. I think a big part of this was because I was polite and respectful rather than a cocky shit. Simply put if you fail the attitude test then prepare for your day to be ruined

  19. If we're being technically correct - the best kind of correct - then simple public possession is "illegal in and of itself". I'd like us to be very clear on that. It's not for the State to prove (or even suspect) that we're "doing something stupid with it." It's up to us to show that we're not. As you say, this isn't generally going to be a problem for actual airsofters. However, in the context of a thread asking "How 2 get RIF without play airsoft tho?" I feel it's worth mentioning.

  21. Okay lads, lasses and others. I took it to the shop and they said they can probably get it fixed by friday since the repair guys were going to be in that day. They said it could be a very simple issue that can be fixed in 5 minutes, so hopefully it will be! I've learned a valuable lesson recently and thats not to fuck around and find out when messing with the internals of these machines. Also yeah apparently I did void the warrenty by opening it up but literally adjusting the hop-up and some maintanence is literally a feature of the product! idk it sounds silly but thats the facts. Will be back on friday with the news and will probably get some new gear while I'm there. Peace!

  31. So the insurance policy is pointless in and of itself - WTF kind of incident are we as airsofters going to be involved in that needs a payout - it would be covered by the site insurance/waiver (arf) that we signed that day. Carrying a RIF isn't illegal in and of itself unless you are doing something stupid with it..... So it is a scam/rouse to allow unscrupulous pew purveyors to flog RIFs with a £20 surcharge on the first purchase and lock the buyer into buying only from them. I might contact Patrolbase/Bespoke Airsoft and see what their policy would be towards a previously validated purchaser returning in the future without UKARA. BTW see other thread on Bespoke Airsoft - I went to their new pad today.

  32. I've done the modification. Motor can now be adjusted. Hole in gearbox a little tight for the tower compared to the stock G&G motor tower, nothing a quick dermel grind won't sort though. Super happy with the motor, a lot more snappy compared to the G&G. My Titan 3000mAh battery I had zero issues. Will be even better when I redo the gearbox with new gears and shim. I'm not a Tech as only just started Airsoft so my opinion may be invalid, I'm just an eager hobbiest Looking forward to using the other parts I've ordered from @ak2m4 to aftermarket my ARP9.

  34. I’ve decided to bite the bullet and have signed up to JustCos to see the policy cover for myself …… On sign up (and payment) you receive a copy of the policy certificate (Zurich insurance): Name of Insured: Just-Cos This is to confirm that Just-Cos have in force with this Company until the policy expiry on 17 May 2024 insurance incorporating the following essential features: Policy Number: @@@@@@@@@@ Renewal Date: 18 May 2024 Limits of Indemnity: Public Liability: £5,000,000 any one event Products Liability: £5,000,000 for all claims in the aggregate during any one period of insurance Pollution Liability: As per Products Liability Professional Services Extension £1,000,000 any one event Note: Cover for Financial Loss, and Third Party Property Damage or Bodily Injury is provided where arising from advice or services carried out by the Insured in the furtherance of its purpose as a registered charity or not-for-profit organisation. That means unlike the wording on the JustCos website I have not purchased insurance of £5m public liability for £20, but I have joined a club/society that has £5m PLI ‘per event’ - and covers injury / damage arising from the advice of JustCos If I have any actual cover then it’s only the full £5m if I am the only member at any event then I can claim against £5m of PLI, but if there are two or more then the cover drops - there’s no mention of ‘being scarey’, Just-Cos is a membership based insurance policy. 38. Let's be serious. Just Cos is a side gig of one Scotch airsoft retailer that's now nothing more than a fraudulent way for them to (not) claim a defence for selling RIFs to anyone who wants one for any reason. While it may have been set up in good faith in 2017 or so, it's a pointless service for cosplayers as there are no realistic 3rd party risks that it could indemnify. Its only purpose now is to add £20 to the cost of buying a RIF. I'd prefer that retailer didn't do this, but the risk is on them, and it's as close to zero as makes no difference.
