  1. This will be the first rifle I have bought since the Ares RDB on first release. (Maybe 2 and a half years ago?) As you may know, I went from having 36 rifles and pistols, now down to just 5 rifles and 3 pistols (With one of those rifles and one pistols for sale) in preparation for a potential move to Spain. But a chance to get a brand new one of these, which has been a rifle that eluded me for a long time. Now I finally have one! LCT AKMSU. It's teh sxe. I know it's very marmite, but I have always loved the Glory Hole Foregrip and the underfolder look. Gearbox is shimmed nicely from the factory. It's one of the more recent LCT Quick Change spring ones. Changed over motor to XT Neo High torque. Slightly louder than the stock motor but still pretty damn quiet. Front sight post was pissed so hit it with a mallet to get it more in line, hopefully it will stay in that position. Firing at 327fps at the mo. Most I will do with it now is put a steel barrel and new hop rubber in it. If I get this and my others overseas when the time comes, I might have to turn this into an angel build and just stick a tonne of unnecessary and ridiculous upgrades into it. The underfolder has the typical up and down wobble once fully unfolded. But it's not that bad at all. Cant wait to field this!

  3. My personal view is that it doesn’t matter what clowns/party are in charge. They would all ban anything in order to get votes so political affiliation doesn’t matter. All these people want is to line their pockets at the expense of us. Apologies but I’m so disenfranchised with politics in this country. I can’t see it being better under labour or greens or anyone else for that matter.

  4. As above. I'd be surprised if they give a toss about customers who are the other side of the world and they're relying on people thinking it's too much hassle to chase them for refunds. The only way they'll take notice is if they get hit financially

  9. To echo comments above, we worry about Labour, but the Conservatives (who opposed the VCRA) had 14 years to repeal the act but didn't. The VCRA was a hobby horse of Hazel Blears, and was derived from the unpublished Home Office Consultation on Firearms (allegedly never published because the public gave the wrong answers, and unavailable through FOI). The manifesto pledge was: "Most respondents to the consultation wanted some controls on Replica Weapons, particularly sales to under 18s". This as we know became a total ban, partially overturned by the Lords. It was also based on a blip in the figures caused by instructions from the Home Office to Police forces to record unidentified weapons (where no weapon was fired or recovered so type uncertain) as "replicas" rather than "unknown". There are figures for the paltry number of convictions under the act since 2007 and no evidence that Replicas are a problem. As others have said, the next Government has much bigger things to worry about and the best thing the Airsoft Community can do is not draw attention to itself. One outlying poll predicted that. Other polls with larger numbers of respondent are still showing a 20-22 point lead.

  13. I was also at Redcon-2 for Shift Your RIFTs, but was there for the whole weekend; a very warm Saturday followed by a very warm, then very wet Sunday! I packed my m700, AAP-01 and p226 as a backup pistol in case I had issues with the AAP. We booked in on the Friday and it was incredibly smooth. Plenty of staff were around to direct people who were camping and those of us who were just there to sign in. Got my wristband and goodie bag and then hung out with my friends for a while as there were quite a few of us there. Gates closed at 8pm, so we left at about 7pm to go get dinner at the pub a few of us were staying at and got a good night's sleep for the next day... or at least it would've if my heart didn't decide to act up that night. Anxiety around it made it worse too, but it wasn't so bad I had to take myself off to a hospital, so I popped one of my pills and powered through it. Anyway, next day was glorious. Weather on Saturday was incredibly warm at around 20 celcius pretty much all day! I had a similar experience to @Galvatron; chrono was really efficient with 4 marshalls on them and then another 3 or 4 marshalls after them with cable ties to tag guns that had passed. There was a long queue when I got there, but it moved very quickly and I got through very easily. I did have an issue crop up here though, as I noticed two of my AAP magazines had lost the o-rings in the fill valves, so I decided to use my p226 that I brought as a backup pistol. Everything passed chrono nice and easy and so that was that. We then hung about until the legendary brief and it wasn't as bad as I thought it'd be. It was long, probably clocking in at about 1 hour in length, but it covered everything that the players needed to know. Also, I heard last year that people on the weekend had to listen to the brief on both Saturday and Sunday, but this weekend we only had to attend the Saturday and could just chill on the Sunday in the safe / camping zone during the briefing, so that was nice. I decided to try and play as much as possible while the weather was good, as the forecast was bad for Sunday. The site itself was a breath of fresh air for me; where Worthing Airsoft is fairly small and quite close-up, basically woodland CQB during the summer, Redcon-2 was huge with a lot of very open areas, though there were also plenty of close-up areas and dedicated CQB areas so when the marshalls said "any gun you have will find a use out there", they weren't lying. I went out with my new under £100 ghillie setup and my m700, p226 and my belt kit; no chest rig as I packed light. We were on blue in the morning and for the first hour I was a bit useless. I had no idea where anything was and bumbled about the site as I tried to work out how I wanted to play it. Fortunately I quickly got into my groove after we took a respawn on the far side of the map and started pushing along the boundary. I managed to tuck into a bush to cover the advance and had a great time plinking at the reds, though some of them were really well dug in! I eventually got taken out, so I went back to the respawn we captured, but as I was returning I saw the other blues who were with me also walking back, so I opted to set up in a position to intercept the reds if they pushed up after us. I took a few out that did, but then I saw some reds coming from the other direction as they must've captured the respawn from the other side, so I laid low and waited for them to pass, before shooting them both in the back. I love moments like that It was then lunch that I was about 10 mins late to, because none of the marshalls called that it was lunch over where I was and I had recently taken out a red from my position; I only went back because I heard one of the vehicles and poked out to ask if it was lunch yet. They had said that they couldn't have tap water to drink due to MoD regulations (as it's an MoD site), so I was expecting some extortionate food and drink prices, but I was pleasantly surprised. I spent £7 on a massive double jumbo chilli dog that was very welcome after the morning games, as well as two bottles of water. After lunch our entire group got balanced onto red team as apparently the morning was pretty one-sided in blue team's favour. This time, I decided to just stick to the massive runway area that the teams spawned at (one at each end, it was really quite long!). There were a number of bushes and some lovely tall grass that worked wonders for concealment, though due to how airsoft guns worked I had to poke my rifle barrel through the grass, which made it a little bit visible, but oh well. I managed to rack up an impressive number of kills from here and completely denied a fairly strong position at a corner as I had it totally dialed in with my bolt action. During quiet moments I found myself hand-loading my magazines as otherwise I would've run out of ammo pretty fast and I was very pleased to discover that my magazines will easily shoot three full magazines on a single fill of gas if it's a warm day. Photographers got some great shots of me too, so that was a nice bonus as I rarely get caught on camera! Towards the end, most people had given up it seemed as I ended up getting hit from behind and having to respawn in to hold the flank pretty much by myself, however due to the tall grass I was able to easily get into a concealed position to do so. The Sunday I wanted to play in the morning as while the forecast said it would pour with rain all day the sun was out and it was nice and warm (a bit windy though!), but most of my kit was locked in the car and the guy with the key was out in the gameplay area. Most of my kit included my hat, so I have a bit of sunburn on my head, and also my armband so I couldn't go and play. I instead opted to have a good wander around to see what people were selling and I picked up the exact TM hi-capa 5.1 that I wanted for £80 and I had a long chat with the guys at Empire Airsoft, so it was nice to put a face to a name there as I order from them quite a lot and have asked Kenny to get me some niche m700 parts from Europe a few times! I also had a long chat with Big Steve Builds about my AAP build and picked up a bunch of parts for that too; only bit I'm missing now is the hammer set as that sold out on the Saturday, but I have a really good idea what I want to do with mine now. Also going to experiment with the flamingo buckings as I hadn't used them yet and he seemed to be very impressed with them in his builds. Went out in the afternoon after lunch and the heavens opened up. It absolutely chucked it down and I got really wet. Didn't play for as long here, playing around the runway again. I managed to crawl into a very forward position and started sniping blues in the tank graveyard from the side; the m700 is so quiet I managed to basically burn through all of my ammo doing this before I was finally taken out by a stray shot just as I was going to shoot someone colour checking me. I was soaking wet and out of ammo and I didn't want to open my ammo bags in this weather as water + bio BBs is not the best combination. Emptied the rest of my pistol mags as I wasn't putting those BBs back in the bag either for the same reason and headed in. All in all, I thoroughly enjoyed the weekend and will be going back next year. I will, however, bring a DMR next time. I was planning on doing so this year, but my MWS was not happy at all lifting heavy BBs, so more tinkering is needed there. The site itself with all the long distance areas combined with the 2.32J DMR limit makes the site very, very good for DMRs. Usually I use my pistol a lot when using a bolt action rifle or a DMR, but I think this weekend I only got 2 - 3 pistol kills and burned though about a single magazine in total, whereas I got dozens and dozens across the weekend with my bolt action and went though many mags. Being able to engage at long distance is a definite advantage at Redcon-2 (as long as you avoid the CQB areas!). If someone is locking down an area with a DMR, it's very strong, but it's also possible to counter because the site itself is so damn big; you can simply go around them. I think the marshalling was top notch and I didn't come up against any issues all weekend with the singular exception of one guy who was blatantly not taking his hits as I took out the people around him, but then every time I hit him he'd look in my general direction and step back behind the bushes and every time he peeked out the same would happen. Everyone else without fail took their hits from what I saw and I didn't hear any complaints about it. Going to be bold and say that Shift Your RIFTs is the best weekend event in the UK at the moment. The airsoft quality is better than AI500 and definitely better than the NAF, and for £85 you get a really solid weekend of airsoft at a great site with great marshalls. Food and drink isn't extortionately priced and there were lots of different retailers about who were more than happy to chat and cut deals you wouldn't get when you buy online. The whole atmosphere was really great across the entire weekend and I'll definitely be going back next year as I loved it!

  14. So ive seen these around with very limited information. Seems to be about 200fps, holds 17 bbs and has the battery in the magazine. It works on a system similar to the gbls das or some of the older guns that preceded that and some newer nerf guns. That meaning you get a mechanical trigger that releases the sear on the piston and then the motor automatically kicks in to recock that piston and make the slide cycle. Probably a bad idea to be an early adopter but ive always liked aeps and this just seems so cool ive ordered one. Ill post more once I have it. No spare mags available anywhere at the mo but its only been out for 4-5 months or so and less than that in the uk.

  15. Picked up a Silverback TAC-41 Lite this afternoon from my local shop, been watching their website like a hawk last couple of days, as I knew they were landing this week, so as soon as I saw they'd changed from "out of stock" to "In stock", I gave them a call to keep 1 back for me, (not knowing how many they'd got in and how quick they'd sell), so popped in on way home. Also picked up the 24mm thread long carbon suppressor and a 110rd mag (no thread adaptors from 24mm-14mm and no standard 48rd mags in stock). I decided I'd use spare scope and rings from my air rifles, so went into my gun room to open my cabinet to get them out. Assembled the rifle and then tried the scopes, my options were either a Nikko Sterling Nighteater 4-16x44 SF or Hawke Sport HD 2-7x30 AO IR, only got low mounts that will fit the rifle. Despite the NS being about 4" longer and larger objective lense, it didn't look too big and although I could still operate the hop, it was fairly close, so went with the Hawke, which with the correct eye relief, the objective lense doesn't even get to the end of the rail and about 5mm clearance, so spot on. Just got to find some time to zero it before my next game. Might have to see how my Yukon Photon 4.6x42 digital NV scope is on the rifle, maybe do some night games, luckily, being digital, I can use it day or night, although image is only in black and white.

  18. oh. Ive gotten it apart. there are 3 pins in the frame holding the chassis in but you can actually take the slide off like any normal pistol. just punching out the slide release though you do have to make sure it is not cocked first. Internals look very robust, ill post pics later. notably the catch surface, the teeth on the slide and some of the other wear parts seem to be seperately replacable with screwed in inserts. Edit: also i was wrong. Left hand safety is entirely aesthetic, right hand is the working one

So I just got mine. Fairly stiff prime by hand but it is surprisingly snappy. Trigger is quite nice if fairly light. Safety feels a little cheap and despite being on both sides the safeties are not connected. Both of them disconnect the trigger but you are gonna have to pick one and leave the other off. I dont tend to use manual safeties anyway so this isnt really an issue for me. Not the first clue on how to disassemble and there is no manual in the box. had one or two jams due to not charging the battery fully meaning the gears didnt quite make it all the way around but racking the slide spun the gears and put it back into manual and with a proper charge ive yet to have any issues. Range its pretty good for a sidearm, around 200fps on a .25. It feels a little on the chunky side but Its been a while since I had the raptor so it may just be how the actual grach feels. It isnt noticeably fat like the old 1911 aeps. it looks as it should.

Full disclosure, I could only find 1 website with the list so I can't be sure how accurate it is Edit because I posted before finishing. Alot of people will be put off voting green by their other policies such as increasing road fuel tax and cutting funding for road building

  37. If everyone continues to be sensible, we shouldn't have a problem with pretty much any government, irrespective of party, after all our expensive hobby generates an equally high level of taxation, which governments love. It's when people behave like cnuts & the media get hold of it, or criminal activity involving rifs, then the light is on us, & if said event coincides with a government fuckup, of which their are many, then we need to start sweating lol.

  38. There isn't a single mention of Airsoft on the labour website, nothing for firearm and a reference to tackling knife crime for gun. It's very hard to say, though I don't think there's real demand for banning the sport in the UK and seems widely known about, so if people wanted it banned/cancelled I'm sure there would be people calling for it.

  39. Small alteration to my Direct Action Gear dump pouch. I already had the Esstac Kywi in it but I added a molle popper to keep the 3rd column of molle against the belt and hold it open better. Then I added some elastic cord and cordlock to allow a can of gas to be stowed in there too. The cordlock is ziptied to the back of the pouch so I can grab the knotted end and pull it tight one handed.

  42. A thread for those who wanted a modern Russian sidearm, but have only the option of Raptors’ first foray into GBB pistols. On receipt mine looked well and truly greased with some sort of thick lubricant which covered all the parts. I assume this is for transportation, as the slide, although covered in slime, did not rack easy at all. The stiff slide seems to be more of an issue caused by tolerances. There is next to no wobble in the slide, it is very much pinched between the runners. I found that racking it by hand for a while loosens it a little. This could be a case where it needs to bed in, but it does not take long for the silicon oil to be blasted out and have the slide jam once again. I wish I looked at the runners of the slide before firing the gnu, but it almost like there are chips of metal missing from it, but this could be from manufacturing though. As for blowing back, the cylinder doesn’t fully reset, the springs are far too weak and the fitment far too tight. This is evident by the back-blast of gas you get when firing. It does seem to move enough to cycle bb’s though (only when the slide has enough strength to get past its own friction however). A thread on arnies goes through a fix for this in some detail (https://arniesairsoft.co.uk/forums/index.php?/topic/218851-raptor-mp-443-pya-grach/). Overall, I think this guy had a better model than mine, but his solution on swapping the O-ring from within this part seems hopeful. His measurements of 15mmODx1.8mmCS 70D are mentioned and I have 10 of these en-route from china off eBay as linked by @Iceni. Due mid may, I will update if there is an improvement. The trigger pull is long. The reset and break point are both in the last 3mm of trigger pull. This seems an odd decision, possibly this was done to speed up development or to simplify the design? The safety is horribly stiff. It works, but with the stiffness and the trigger pull being so long, I can’t imagine I would ever use the safety, especially as you need to manually cock it. The magazines were equally slimy, two of which holding a tiny amount of gas on delivery. It has taken basically a whole Ultrair 570ml bottle of gas to refill and fire out to A) clear the gunk from inside and B) get the seals to bed in. The mist that fired out was immense, can only describe it as a teenager’s vape pen cloud. Once that settled down, they generally seemed to hold with all three of my mags managing to hold enough gas and fire over 25 times this morning, around 18 hours after filling. Though on one you could just about hear a slow leak from the refill valve, a thing that had stopped by the morning, I guess it self-righted or the pressure settled. The magazines though I think suffer BADLY from freezing. The top valve always seem to leak for a short while after firing only a couple of shots (not from the nipple part). If you fire too many and it risks venting. Nuprol 4.0 black gas just instantly vents on the first trigger pull. I have ordered a valve key thing from firesupport to see if they need a tighten or not, but this seems to be a definite weak spot in the design. The paintwork on the gnu is thin, and it doesn’t take long for scratches to show. This isn’t necessarily a bad thing, just something to be aware of. Sadly, I lack a chrono or a big garden, so I cannot report on fps or range. It does fire bb’s but with that extra strain it fires maybe 18 of them before the slide gets stuck half way. I am very tempted to take a file to the runners, but that is very much a last ditched effort to get it reliable.

  43. Update for 2024. Not recommended at all. Ordered one of the new VFC XM16E1 GBB rifles off them about 3 months ago, and only just received what is the wrong gun today..... The XM model was not available in the UK so i thought id give SWIT a try. Was massively cheaper than on UK sites (Yes i know imports would come) and they were running a discount sale on orders over a certain price, so i figured even with postage and potential imports it would be less than bought here, and might not even have a fee if lucky. I also ordered a handful of mags and was pleasantly surprised at the checkout to find that the sale was taking off 40 dollars from every single item in my basket, making each mag almost free. Great i thought, what could go wrong? Few days later, i get an email from them saying this was a website error and i was only entitled to a single 40 dollars off. Considering i had already paid, i asked if they would honor the price presented to me, but they only responded to that with an invoice for the rest, and that they would only send the gun, no mags if i didn't pay it. Annoying, but fair enough i thought, worth asking anyway. After this i had no update from them for about a month, when i emailed with no replay, so had to resort to messaging on FB, where they let me know, the gun was ready but they were still waiting on the mags to arrive. Few days after that i get the email that the gun is now shipped. Arrives in the UK a few days after that, but now has to go through customs.... Customs send me an invoice for a whopping £170 extra, then hear nothing from them for 2 months, apart from very unreliable UPS updates, and phone calls which went nowhere. Gun finally arrives today after all that hassle and time (Very beat up and ripped box, presumably by customs, but also no protection on it from Swit apart from the paper wrapping), only to open it and see that I've been sent the M16A1 not XM16E1, which i ordered..... Weirdly, the packaging clearly has "XM16E1" written on it in bold marker pen, so idk how they screwed that up, but I'm sure as heck not gonna send it back after the struggle it was to get here. You could say i won a little here as the M16 was about 50 dollars more then the XM, but i still would of preferred the XM. Fortunately i do have an AEG XM so its not the end of the world, but that's besides the point of their mess up. Will see what they have to say, but now I've tried it, i never want to order from outside the UK again. Its just not worth the potential problems, wait times, lack of proper communication and support, inability to easily send an item back, and in the end, I've paid more or less the same as i would for this from a UK site..... Lesson learned, and i would suggest the same for anyone considering it. Maybe i was really unlucky, but i still wouldn't risk it now. XM model clearly written on the packaging, while the M16 clearly inside.
