  1. I am grateful to all the people who contributed with helpful answers. Thanks to their advice, I decided to approach one of the retailers and explain my situation to them via email. Fortunately, the Airsoft retailer responded positively, allowing me to send the required photos ( My airsoft pictures ) This is excellent news for me as I can now avoid purchasing a second-hand or two-tone airsoft gun. I am delighted to have received such a warm and friendly response from everyone on this platform. I hope to find the same camaraderie and guidance on the airsoft field as well. live in Henley-on-Thames and have recently moved here. I have two options to choose from Highwycome and Reading. I plan to give both a try and hopefully find my ideal team in the UK for a long-term. @RorySending RIFs to Europe via airplanes is a viable option. However, it can be challenging to send them to the UK for non-citizens. I have attempted to send them myself, but I encountered several diplomatic demands via email that made it difficult to proceed. Perhaps there are alternative ways but we dont know yet.

Hello and welcome to the money pit.? Have a look at 'playairsoft.co.uk' that will list sites near you. No you don't need to buy any thing to start with but a pair of boots with ankle support and a good pair of ballistic rated goggles/glasses are a must have. Just search on t'internet for Airsoft eyprotection but make sure they have an ansi z87 +1 rating. You will have to contact your nearest site and book a game as a rental player and the site will provide you with a gun, ammo, face protection/mask they probably will have eye pro for sale but get your own to be on the safe side. Wear some old clothes but make sure your skin is covered. Enjoy but be prepared to spend lots lol Regards Hey I was already typing all that! ?

Hi, Have a look here for local sites - playairsoft.co.uk First couple of times you play you dont need to buy anything. You can rent it all from the site. Once the bug has bitten you though, a good set of eye protection and a decent set of boots should high on your purchase list.

On the subject of disability there was a player at awa (didn't get his name unfortunately) who played in the woods in a wheelchair. I saw him fall sideways off a pallet bridge once when his wheels slipped on moss. I watched him throw himself out the chair to the ground and pull the chair Infront of him as cover. I watched a complete wanker call this out as cheating, no seriously... He can't do that! He's using his wheelchair as a shield! Great attitude and had a blast. Everything has a work around if you speak to the site. But I'm sure there will always be that one dick that claims somehow it's an advantage.

  8. UKARA is a good concept but, as you have probably noticed, some players and retailers still attempt to find ways around it. Laws tend to be written without such fine delineation as that would result in unnecessary complexity and inconsistencies.

  11. A farmer drove to a neighbor's farmhouse and knocked at the door. A boy, about 9, opened the door "Is your dad or mum home?" said the farmer. "No, they went to town." "How about your brother, Howard? Is he here?" "No, he went with Mum and Dad." The farmer stood there for a few minutes, shifting from one foot to the other, and mumbling to himself. "I know where all the tools are, if you want to borrow one, or I can give Dad a message." "Well," said the farmer uncomfortably, "I really wanted to talk to your Dad. It's about your brother Howard getting my daughter Suzy pregnant". The boy thought for a moment... "You would have to talk to Dad about that. I know he charges £500 for the bull and £50 for the pig, but I don't know how much he charges for Howard"

Welcome. The best way to get started is to book a game at a local site. Check out https://playairsoft.uk/ to find sites in your area. As for what to buy I recommend renting for your first 3 games as the site will provide you with a gun and face protection so all you'll need to have is decent footwear (many outdoor sites insist you wear boots not trainers as they provide less grip the risk of twisting your ankle is far higher). There are laws governing the sale of airsoft guns so without a site membership you'll be stuck with having to buy a brightly coloured 2 tone gun (assuming you're 18 or over). Renting also means you'll be able to get a better idea of what suits you

I'd considered the Novritsch ASPC 1.Obut it only comes in one size and being a bigger lad, wanted something better suited to my frame. It should arrive by the end of the week so I'll send an update with my thoughts.

  16. The defences in legislation are: museums theatrical film/TV production historical re-enactment in the service of the crown The legislation goes into further details on the requirements Airsoft skirmishing is an additional defence, not part of the core legislation https://www.legislation.gov.uk/ukpga/2006/38/section/37 Cosplay is not a defence, however ‘professional cosplay’ in certain circumstances can fall into theatrical After many years of wondering what JustCos actually provides I purchased JustCos membership to see the insurance policy (and still was not provided with the policy) after another forum member used JustCos as a route to buy a RIF - they had to provide a photo of them playing airsoft for the retailer to accept the sale (therefore the retailer ‘accepting’ JustCos doesn’t actually accept the ‘defence’) (I was eventually refunded and my JustCos membership cancelled because I was ‘too stupid’ to understand what JustCos actually was UKARA etc are not specified defences, but are a route in which retailers can justifiably document a buyers defence. Any retailer can accept whatever they like, one even had a tick box for buyers to state that they intended to play airsoft skirmishing Certain retailers are only paying lip service and just want the sales

  17. There's no offence committed by purchasing[*], or attempting to purchase, within the UK. If you can persuade someone to sell you one, then it's legal for you to buy it. It's entirely up to sellers what they accept as a defence, as they're the one committing the offence of selling. Sportsman Association / Shooter's Rights / JustCost are all bogus non-defences, but that's their problem, not yours. Or some sellers accept Military Vehicle Trust membership to adduce the re-enactment defence. The other thing you can do is contact a retailer directly and provide some evidence that you have a history of playing airsoft. It's entirely up to each seller what they accept. [*] Somewhat bizarrely, it is an offence to modify a non-realistic imitation firearm into a realistic imitation firearm, but not to buy it. But you'll never find anyone who cares.

  18. Locally, its about £25 rental, vs £15 walk on - so your three games to get UKARA would only cost you an extra £30. If your local sites are much more expensive than that, why not just buy a cheap two tone, and sell it on once you get your UKARA?

Most airsofters are fucking deaf anyway as if they listen to the saftey brief or listen out for hits ? But I wonder if it's worth looking up a laser tag site near you, I hear the the gear they use now has a shock/ vibration vest that are better than the crap from the old days so when you get "hit" so he can feel it, That way he can experience the same sort of thing we do and he will be a bit more safe and still run around and shoot guns with you and you can use it as a stepping stone/practice to get him to airsoft

  26. Huh, then that's surprisingly high power for a stock VSR-10. I'm guessing that it Joule-crept up to there on the 0.28g and might have come out under 1.14J on 0.25g. If your son is enjoying using it, I'd be minded to leave it as stock, other than dropping the power very slightly so that it's just under 1.14J with the heaviest BBs that it can lift (I'd hope 0.32g wouldn't be an issue). You'll keep the light pull, not stress the components, and lose the MED. Just dropping in 0.25g might bring it under the MED limit.

  28. Thanks for the reply's guys. I didn't realise this thread was still going It is a brand new stock TM VSR we have. My son (12) is happy with the range using .28's at the moment, I'm sure we will be upgrading the internals at some point though. My worry with heavier springs is his ability to cock the gun. When/if I get to have a go with the gun in the field I will get a better idea of what needs to be done. Thanks again for all the info, its a learning curve for me.

  30. I had one for a little while. I would say it was a very well built AEG. Probably the best stock externals I’ve seen for a 416. The stock mosfet is like most stock mosfets and is pretty poor. I would look to replace it with a perun hybrid, gate aster or titan. The rest of the stock components are pretty decent with the exception of the spring which is where they get downgraded for the UK market. The factory quick change spring system is pretty good, it’s often misunderstood that you need to unscrew the buffer tube to get at it (negative airsoft did this on one of his videos) but it’s not necessary and VFC also started to thread lock them in after a while. They are essentially Marui’s V2 AR system with a few tweaks. Lots of upgrades that fit and I would say the retro arms gearbox shell seems to have been designed especially for this gun. If you ever see them together, you’ll see what I mean. i think VFC get a bad reputation for their internals and being bad to work on. I think this is (as above) largely due to negative airsoft, but you have to remember for every one that’s on his bench there’s probably hundreds out there that are just fine. Also worth noting, I’d imagine a lot of the stuff that ends up on his bench is because someone else has tried to do the work and made a mess of it. He has clearly had this on several occasions, I’d imagine few people own up to this being the case. Whilst I respect his opinion, he generally doesn’t like higher priced replicas like these and his opinions on things regularly change from one extreme to the other. I only got rid of mine as it was an impulse buy during Covid and I wasn’t using it, mostly as I have so many other guns (mostly GBBRs) and I wasn’t playing much. A close friend of mine also has the Avalon, which is basically the same Gun. He upgraded it (13:1 gears, gate titan and high torque motor) with little effort and he doesn’t do tech work regularly.

  32. There is an argument to be made that if you're not going to do anything to a stock boltie then you might be unable to fully hop a heavier BB, or you have to apply so much hop pressure that you drop the muzzle energy to the point where a lighter BB would end up going further. Which is why I was careful to say "starting with the same energy at the muzzle, and assuming that the hop can impart enough spin". The thing is, a stock Tokyo Marui VSR is likely to be shooting at something comically low like 0.72J (280fps with a 0.2g). I'm not sure if OP is rocking a VSR10 clone, or if it's pre-meddled, or if it Joule crept upwards rapidly with heavier BBs. Either way, there's only really two sensible ways to go with it: tune it down to under 1.4J, or up to 2.3J shooting the heaviest BBs that it will hop at that muzzle energy.

  37. Most CQB sites don't like heavy BB's anyway - at CQB engagement distances the difference between a 0.25 and a 0.32+ is negligible.

  38. No, run .25s if you want. You can get some nice performance out of HPA using heavy BBs because you don't have to worry about air volume like you generally do with AEGs, but it's not the be all and end all. There's also a bunch of reasons why heavier in general is better, but that's across all platforms, not just HPA. I'm tired of people pretending HPA is some sort of magical system that does something revolutionary when it's functionally the same as an AEG (using air to propel a small plastic ball). Will you get better performance out of heavier BBs? Yes Will using .25s be pointless? No
    1 point
  39. Heavier IS better but you don't HAVE to use them. Use whatever you have and see how they fly. Make sure to adjust the power according to the weight you use.
    1 point
  40. I'm certain that has nothing to do with the BB weight, sounds more like hop problems. Sure, on lower power builds the performance increase of using heavier BBs is less noticeable than on higher power builds. Because the Heavy BBs have less initial velocity to conserve better than their lighter counterpart. But no matter what, if you have a hop that imparts the same relative spin on both the light and the heavy BB, the heavy BB goes farther. It wont run out of magnus effect sooner. It is heavier, heavy things conserve energy better, and as such will spin longer, prolonging the magnus effect, and conserving the muzzle energy for longer making them faster than lighter BBs at any range farther than ~10-20 metres.

  41. So a while ago I started to build a hk21e machinegun based on a jg g3 but the gun was a bit screwed and I made a bit of a hash of upgrading it so That rather killed my motivation for working on that. I recently sold off that gun as part of my process of swapping entirely to gbbrs. Having watched a few explosive enterprises vids I decided to give this another go. This time the base gun is a we gbb g3. It came to me with the barrel shortened and Ive just picked up a proper hk21e style clubfoot stock for it. Im planning to model and print most of the bits for it in plastic and then send them off to be done in aluminium when im finished. This is just the first step. 1 new sight block that just sits on the cocking tube and dosent go down to the barrel. 2 front handguard cap with a block hidden under it which bolts to the handguard pinhole to keep everything rigid 3 a sleeve to go over the barrel to give it the proper machinegun profile. I have sanded and painted this bit since the proper barrel is tapered and making one of these in metal would be a pain. will probably leave it plastic. It just screws onto the outer barrel nut and gets pinned in place by the flash hider. next up is to make the rear handguard cap and order some steel or aluminium tube to make the actual handguard. Ill be building a pinhole into the rear handguard cap where the belt feed mechanism attaches. This would normally be on the reciever instead of the magwell but Im trying to make this in a way which requires as little modification to the base gun as possible. Once the belt feed assembly is made ill be making a box mag to slot onto it, fitting the guts of a 249 box in there, hpa tapping the original mag and drilling a hole in the front for bbs to feed in from a spring tube. Im not really a fan of hpa but for a gbb lmg like this its simply the best option.

  42. So.. I splashed a little more cash over the past few weeks. Firstly from Octagon airsoft, I bought a stock and some wooden handgrip for my Beretta M93r. Stock fits perfectly, though the right hand grip will need some work with a dremel to get it to fit and not interfere with the mechanism for the burst function of the pistol. Next I bought a low profile pistol red dot sight from my local air rifle range to fit less intrusive on the optic mount for the M93r (see pic attached for stock, optic mount, red dot and left side wooden hand grip fitted) Finally I bought two Tokyo marui limited edition Chisato handguns and some mags from airsoft direct (by far the cheapest I have seen them on sale in the UK) one will be purely for display to keep it pristine, while the other will get some limited use, mainly in CQB as backup to my Krytac Vector (when the back-ordered mags Finally arrive and if I can find a holster for it that won't damage the finish), to prolong its life Also looking at a tactical vest on ebay to complete a Stargate SG1 loadout. Trying to find an accurate, black blackhawk omega is impossible, so this vest would be more of a Stargate-inspired vest than a stitch-counter accurate version. Pics will be shared if I do decide to pull the trigger on the vest.. Oh, and also the usual boring consumables restock.. gas, BBs, CO2 bulbs.. and a can of Nuprol 1.0 for the new TM pistol..

(most already pointed out above) "Reasonable adjustments" is a legal duty, so the site will pretty much have to do it, even tho understandably it may be a hassle. Printing out safety briefing is very easily done and not at all unreasonable. Make it known to the other players so they can understand the situation and adjust their expectations with hit calling. Marshals can keep an eye out in-game and pay a bit more attention and watch out for hit calling / issues with other players, again not difficult to do and something they should already be doing anyway. On the deaf person side, wear non-padded clothing for hit detection, so preferably a minimal loadout like a belt rig perhaps. Put up his arm for hit calling, not necessary through shouting "hit". Same for his targets, just watch for hands raising. A shadow is a good idea, just so he can receive grenades and announcements and so on, and have a "translator" just in case. I think there are probably situations where playing as a duo is actually an advantage. His biggest enemy may actually be a fogging eye pro. May be a chance for him to fully embrace the speedsoft look and get a dye mask (which I heard is good with fogging).

Or you could do what I threatened my son with, if he starts running off all Sgt Elias, or you just need to get his attention, quick buzz on a shock collar would do the trick, they can be set just to vibrate, or if he still doesn't respond, turn up the voltage & take him down like Frank The Tank ? Just have him read the safety brief off some paper/device...Hardly a deal breaker. I don't see it being a problem really. Just brush up on your infantry field hand signals and go through them with him. Make up some extra airsoft specific ones for ceasefire, fire (burning) etc. Easy.
