SE Tour Review: AWA Herts (Hertfordshire)
Galvatron and 2 others reacted to Jim_furness for a topic
If this is the same person I think it might be I'd like to follow this up even though it is a few months ago. Sadly, we/I had to ask this person to leave site after the 2nd game due to them not being able to follow certain safety rules. The rule in question being eye protection being worn at all times outside of the safezone. Our google reply was as follows: "Hi Danu, Iβm really, genuinely sorry that we had to end your day and send you home early, but we are very clear that safety is our primary concern at AWA, and we have to send repeat offenders home. You should never, ever, take your eye pro off in the gaming area. You were warned twice personally, and a party to two group warnings as well as the warning in the morning safety briefing. We realise that this opens us up to revenge reviews, but despite our differences, Iβd rather send you home early with two working eyes and suffer the bad reviews than the alternative. Itβs the number one rule in airsoft, please, if you continue to play in future, at any site, you must take it seriously, you only get one set of eyes Danu, and we want you to keep them."3 points -

https://www.airsoft-hub.com/item/21194-full-metal-m4-bundle-metal "I painted it green to match my other airsoft guns and to make it look cooler" Right. My 4 year old nephew could have painted it better than this abomination. "Paint can be removed easily." Of course. So easily that you didn't do it yourself to give yourself a chance of increasing the resale value of the gun. Gotcha.3 points

Update on the MG4 optic: it works, and looks damn good on there. Even at 15% infill the PETG I used is very strong, and I was able to use it as a functional carry handle. Granted the MG4 is very light for a LMG and itβs currently empty, but still surprisingly it didnβt just crumble in half. Iβll probably sleep on the design and if I canβt find any faults with it tomorrow Iβll send for it to be printed in SLS for a βproductionβ model.3 points -

As someone who was both at the event in question, and just a few dozen meters from that dude, it was a bit different than that. First, it was a Taginn Paladin chalk round - a round that IMO should never be shot at personnel. Second, he was either the gunner or in the door of the vic - vics are absolutely allowed to be direct impacted, and itβs recommended as a non-explosive round doesnβt have a kill radius and itβs far harder to land a round within 3m of a vic than it is to actually hit one. Third, the hit was hard enough to destroy his eyepro. Fourth, he was a real trooper and after getting cleaned up, went to the on-site store, bought himself a new pair of eyepro, and got back in the game. It was Op Stonebreaker 2021 or 22. That was the last Op I went to before getting ASFPUK or DMFP masks for some added face protection after seeing that hit. Iβve taken direct impacts from the explosive Taginns and they arenβt too bad - though I wouldnβt want the frag on bare skin. Heres a pic from the event; Im on the left with the Tropentarn , helmet, and TK45c.3 points -

Display Wall / Cabinets
Scubasteve89 and one other reacted to Tommikka for a topic
Just because @Scubasteve89has discovered the desktop fittings, Iβll point out a couple of other options for fitting display systems β¦β¦ I use grid walls at shows etc and we build them into various different setups. Outside in a gazebo weβll use tall grid walls and zip tie them to parts of gazebo, inside weβll have them both on the ground with feet and also mounted onto tables. For added stability weβll make corner arrangements ziptieing and clamping grid walls to each other I canβt find a decent photo at the moment but also use βgrid shelvesβ which then get used to add stability around corners etc We donβt do this at shows, but if you have a fixed area and you can drill holes then there are hangers (combine hangers and feet if thereβs space) A couple of traders have βdoor hooksβ that can be put over a display wall to hang grid wall The ones on the tables are about to be assembled and stood up, the wall hanging is a buddies mobile airsoft shop which some members may recognise2 points -

Recently got a SLONG (revised version) of it's V2 shell for some testing, was impressed with the finishing on it, powder coating I think, very smooth and clean. It's missing some radius, got QD, very decent stainless steel spring guide with a bearing. Could do with some better wire channelling. On the surface compatibility looks good but till you try it in every brand you never quite know.2 points

Outcome unclear: did you died? ... and yet ... Which is a huge failure of foresight, given that people are gunning out of them, or windows will be open. Granted, there are plenty of other "shoulds" in airsoft that can result in injury if not followed, like removing eyepro in game, or lobbing BFGs at head height - which I've been on the receiving end of. What makes TAGs special are that they're always carrying much, much more energy than anything else being shot, and that once you've pulled the trigger, there's plenty of time for things to change at your intended point of impact. I'd nope out of any event that allows them.2 points

Thanks for your answers guys! As Tackle pointed out we should be happy that airsoftβs not banned all together in either of our countries. Do you think your lawenforcement and politicians are happy with the UKARA system? And how does it work in reality when buying for instance on the wanted ads on here? Sorry for all the questions and crappy english but Iβm really interested in hearing how things work for different airsoft scenes.1 point

More like BMWβs Largest manufacturer/retailer of βluxuryβ vehicles in the uk Residual values make them easy & relatively cheap to finance, but folk are forced to change them at the end of their pcp term The vehicles get offloaded onto the marketplace at the end of term Dont get me started with what happened when the Olympics were in london all of the official cars were BMWβs , and were put to the auctions in bulk Private owners cars values plummeted! π1 point -

Why are TM always for sale?
Rogerborg reacted to PureSilver for a topic
There are a lot of reasons. TM have an excellent reputation for making reliable, accurate and reasonably affordable guns, so they sell a lot of them new. A lot of new guns sold means a bigger pool of used guns. TM make very reliable guns, so they last a long time. A TM might be resold multiple times when something cheaper was scrapped by its second (or even first!) owner, so again - a bigger pool of used guns. TM make some relatively high-end stuff, especially the NGRS/MWS rifles you're probably talking about. Guns like that are very expensive, so when people don't want them any more they sell them to get the money, rather than forget about them in the loft. A Β£100 SRC might not be worth the trouble of selling - a Β£700 Recoil Shock is a different proposition. Expensive guns are also worth repairing when things go wrong, prolonging their lifespan where a cheaper gun that suffered the same failure might have been scrapped. People that can afford to buy high-end stuff can afford to chop and change more frequently. People that can't afford to buy high-end stuff but did so anyway need to sell stuff more frequently.1 point -

Had a few things in the works over the past few months. First up: MG42 converted to MG3. Its probably 70% real steel parts nowadays. Its currently off getting HPA'd. *Really* excited to finally finish it. Had to pair up with a local guy who has a Wehrmacht kit and a MG42 for a quick photoshoot. Next, converted one of my Real Sword Type 97s, the 97b in this case, to HPA. Had to make a custom nozzle with some help from Norwest Airsoft in the States. Im slowly falling more and more for APS-shell shotguns, but hate dealing with shells. So sometimes I just use my Wargame Striker12, which contains spent shells. But for those days I prefer to use the 870, I found a biodegradable PLA material made from algae and am printing shells for that pretty constantly, whenever the printer isn't running on something else. They aren't very strong and tend to break after a few uses, but considering they cost a pence or two a shell, I don't really care. Next, my 417 EPM-1S project is nearing completion. I thought I had it down with v5 (last worked on in July 2022) but when I broke my G27K out of storage I found that the mag was far too large, and required loosening my hop unit to feed - so that wouldn't do. v10 seems to be the magic number; it feeds even with my hop properly installed, and seems almost perfect. Just a few cosmetic things need sorted, like the positioning of the BB window. Finally, this is an idea I've had for awhile but never got around to. I've wanted to make a Bundeswehr-accurate optic for my MG4, considering my only other option was finding a $1000+ Hensoldt 4x30i. Well, we've been snowed in here in the mountains for the past several days (and am about to be for several more) so I knocked this out in about 10 hours over the last two days. Its printing now, and if everything fits Ill send it off to be SLS'd. It uses real surplus Hensoldt 3x inserts meant for G36 optics, as the real one appears to - they're also pretty readily available which is good. It cannibalizes parts from a cheap G36 optic, including the G-36 style rail nuts, adjustment bolts and heat-sets, rail, rail bolts and heat-sets, and rubber view piece and forward scope retaining piece. Basically all one needs to make this optic is the files, the basic G-36 optic from your local airsoft shop, the three new crossbolts to attach it to the rail, and the Hensoldt insert.1 point -
I sailed under a lucky star when the shop opposite me chucked out a load of slatwall. I ran over, asked if they wanted it, then tried to shift if. It's a tad heavy when attached to 18mm MDF! π±π Got it home, all of 50m, put it up and then bought a load of hangers. I need to do a reshuffle at some point as I'm running out of room...have a big ol' basket now for mags as only two of my prws share mags. πππ1 point
