Latest acquisition for Christmas. Saw it and found the concept interesting, but won't be able to test it until the new year. Don't know if I should have gone for the slightly longer version, as the short one seems to be lower powered than advertised; around 1.6J Vs the stated 1.9J, but I'll try it and see! *Edit: just tried it again with heavier ammo and an Action army VSR mag and it's now up to around 1.9 to 2J, so more than adequate. I don't know if it's just joule creep, the AA mag seating in better, or the thing's just warming up now but it seems to have improved. Can't wait to try it out, the thing is just so ridiculously light though!2 points

There are multiple bits of the chat going back and forth so I'll give you all the TL:DR version. He offered me 3 guns. 2 of which I was interested in. I asked for additional photos and videos. The asking price was £900 for the pair which would have been at the very top of the budget, so I wanted to make sure they were in the very top of condition. All new photos were photoshops of previous photos. The videos were indistinguishable as they were in the dark, shooting tracer. After confirming my suspicions, I called him on it and he confessed. Be wary boys and girls. Happy new year to you all.1 point -
about £60.....but thats just clothing / accessories for my son... he uses the rest of my stuff, i bought loads of 'generic' clothing i can wear for normal day use but i think only £12 on a battery so far that's airsoft's related that i can remember1 point

Grayz1980 reacted to gavinkempsell for a topic
If you already have plantar do you use any insoles that work in day to day footwear? I use these which helped immensly... PRO 11 WELLBEING Clear Orthotic Gel Heel Cups for Treatment of Plantar Fasciitis. from Amazon Changed jobs just over a year ago so no longer need to wear safety shoes (thank god for crocs), but still use them in my going out shoes & boots. Got measured up for special insoles a few years ago but they did bugger all to help (waste of £60)1 point -

Pretty much, some type of sheet to catch little falling parts. Majority of sites I've been to have benches with the standard slotted top surface which are absolutely perfect for helping with losing small items/anything that rolls.1 point -

Id say get your foot measured from some experts at mountain ware stores and they'll probably recommend something useful. I have rather small and thin feet for my height and they recommended the scarpa rush trek gtx which fits so much better than the heavy army boots I used to use. Been using those since without a bother.1 point -
Thank you! If the ergos are stock/furniture related then they aren't really an issue as I plan to make my own1 point

The we big bird seems to have a fixed inner barrel altho not terribly well fixed. I added o rings to better locate it when in battery. My KSC or kwa Glock 17 has a tilting inner barrel.1 point

With the 6.01 you're likely to get a better grouping, and slightly higher power. However it's very dependent on having the nozzle, hop rubber, hop chamber setup correctly. Also some AEG's just play differently. 6.03 is a little more less prone to jamming. I did receive some 6.05 x 128mm testers as well and I got amazing results even with 0.2g. I was very surprised so I might even arrange for some of those to be made. I'm hoping production will start mid-Jan with a small run. For the price of a spring it's definitely worth grabbing a new one of the XT, you might only need a M100. The factory did the actual RA surface test with a Profilometer gauge. For a decent one they're kinda expensive. They take sample barrels during production, cut them open and measure etc. You can actually measure a fair amount yourself with a good borescope and then compare against a chart. I'm also looking into polishing as well for some projects, a factory has said they could build me a custom machine to do the work, just waiting on a price 🙂1 point

I have the same lowas as you- to be honest, if you are struggling with them, then you really do have issues! My lowas are too expensive for Airsoft use, so I use a cheap pair of ankle height magnums ('ultima')- even lighter than the lowas and very very squishy/trainer like. They've lasted two years of reasonable use so far, albeit the waterproof membrane is non existent now. Very comfy. https://bootcampstores.co.uk/product/magnum-ultima-6-0-waterproof-boot/1 point -

Whilst the safest bet is to replace like for like you won't necessarily lose any power, lot of factors in play, kinda one of those things you need to experiment with.1 point

In your situation length is not essential, and even in tighter builds that 17mm is basically irrelevant.1 point

Sniper path feedback
two_zero reacted to AK47frizzle for a topic
I love sniping but for a different reason to most people. For me, the point of getting a sniper rifle is simply to outrange AEGs. I play the exact same aggressive, run-amok style as I would with an AEG but further away. It's fun because you get people trying to duel you 50m away and watch as their BBs drop before your feet, and you can still accurately pick them out no problem. But of course, stealth can be a fun option too. Contrary to what everyone says, i'd recommend getting a "shoot-good-out-da-box" sniper rifle because not wasting time and effort on fiddling about with compatability parts is valuable, especially with the hop which can take forever to get right if you don't have a personal range (waiting every two weeks to test once on a game day, and have it not work as predicted is painful). The least expensive option seems to be the (yes really) novvy ssg stuff, then followed by the TAC41P at £372 from firesupport. Then everyone seems to praise the steyr scout at £400. At £400+ there's the SRS and the new B&T SPR300 which I plan to get a hold of soon. Probably some more out there. But, it is up to you.1 point -
I'd say quite the opposite. Having gone down the "upgrade" route on a VSR-ish base, I'd say that you'll end up paying more for a usable, reliable gun than if you just buy (e.g.) a Novritsch SSG10, or Silverback TAC-41. Sure, you can play with the VSR at various stages of "upgrade", but you'll always be wearing out sears and stoppers, hitting the limit of your hop, and chasing a smoother bolt pull. It's fun to do, but ultimately neither cheaper nor faster than just buying something that's genuinely usable out of the box.1 point

That's nothing, the wankers at Metro went with the headline : "Man who made billions out of death and killing dies at the age of 94" As has already been pointed out, its existence may have potentially saved more lives (good ones anyway, the scumbags probably had it coming😏)1 point

Yes, I am part of the team, and have been since the first day we came up with the grand idea of opening our own shop, from getting the keys, dealing with our first delivery, installing the new till systems to building and organising our first playing site at the checkpoint, to expanding again to include our current cqb site and shop in Treforest. It seems you do not know Parrot as well as you might think, as I am his wife and answer just as many of our emails, social posts, phone calls etc as he does. I simply choose to stay in the background and not be on the website, also because I was holding down my own career with the NHS when the business first began. As for the shop owner doing a "one off job", I can assure you he does no such thing. He is more than capable in his own right, however our tech chose to take a step back from technical work due to personal issues back at the beginning of 2022 when the shop had been open for almost a year. We did not resume tech work until we had sourced a reliable, skilled replacement after many requests from customers' returning business, because we do actually care about the services we offer and strive to be the best we can be in an ever expanding arena. Whilst I have also stated that I am by no means an expert in the field, Specna has always come in as a "starter" brand and the lower end of budgets. We have used Specna hop units as standard replacements, but when upgrading, there is, as a rule, usually a more robust and reliable option available or simply a higher spec option available. On a separate note, Many players and customers will have also seen me take up the marshalling reins at our sites recently. I have manned the shop singlehandedly quite a few times at the old shop on Crwys Rd as well as the new shop in Treforest.1 point

tech horrors part 2: Airsoft Cymru
John_W reacted to Colin Allen for a topic
Kat answered the email that I sent the company earlier today.1 point -
So I will be joining this thread on behalf of Airsoft Cymru. The first point I will absolutely defend to the death, is the use of a specna arms gearbox. We have never and will never use these gearboxes in any products. I have copies of all invoices to prove this as well. The second point is we were not accepting tech work at the time stated, and we only started accepting new tech work when we contracted out to White Wolf tech and build in may of this year (2023) after many requests to resume this service. Thirdly, at no time has any issues of this nature ever been raised with us personally or professionally. Fourthly, no tech worth their salt would ever downgrade a gear box when trying to maximise potential (personal opinion on Specna gearboxes from someone who does not profess to be an expert). Fifth, I would like to thank everyone who contacted us regarding this thread for allowing us the opportunity to defend ourselves. I am very sorry that this person has not had a good experience with their gun and wish them all the best with RAT. I am also very sorry that it has resulted in unfounded accusations and mild threats on marauder's part and having to resort to us ever having to defend ourselves from what is quite frankly libelous in nature, considering our positive footprint on social media and reviews platforms.1 point

The amount of times I’ve witnessed a spring jettisoned across a safe zone is many or a tiny item popping out and falling between the slat on a picnic table Fek that minimal tools to allow fitting optic batteries or swapping accessories is my limit (and a leatherman )1 point -

i'm gonna offer the alternative solution: don't bring anything or in longer form, trying to work on a pew in the safe zone is at best going to be an exercise in frustration and at worst the easiest way to lose bits. do the work at home, get your gun in good order, and bring a spare (or two) if you can't accomplish it with a leatherman within a minute, it's probably a job worth waiting until you get home.1 point -

Oh, I forgot my toothbrush And my microfibre cloth. And the multi-tool in my belt rig. Just because I carry a shit-ton(ne) of stuff, doesn't mean it all gets used, so here's what I've actually used from my toolbox (or other people have borrowed!), with most-used at the top: Reading glasses (as I'm wearing long distance contacts during the day). Allen keys, both metric and yank (... Very cheap from Amazon) Assortment of screwdrivers Anti fog wipes AR tool (for stock nut, barrel etc) Loctite thread lock glue (low strength) to fix stock nuts coming undone on both my DE and VFC Lubricants (silicone grease and oil) Chrono Battery tester (for LiPos) Spare batteries (AA, AAA, CR2032 etc) as I often forget to turn off a sight after test-firing at home Spare nuts and bolts (needed to fix MOLLE mounting on my mag pouches)1 point -

You can reach that point when you've got so many guns you don't use half of them even if you play on a regular basis. You spend easily hundreds if not thousands before you realize it though. 🧐1 point

Need footwear advice. I struggle with shit feet. Narrow and fallen arches, plantar fasciitis. I use orthopaedic insoles but still suffer. I do plan on seeing a podiatrist in the new year. I’m currently using Lowa Zephyr GTX mids but my feet still kill me at the end of a game day. I am thinking a more trainer like boot might be good for me. I tried on a Salomon X Ultra 4 mid and found them to be quite tight even with my narrow feet. Also the toe box dug into my toes when kneeling. Now looking at the Adidas Terrex Goretex models. Does anyone else use these or have any other suggestions? Thanks0 points
