Congrats on your new gat, and welcome to the Gas Blow Back Flexors Club. You'll find your smoking jacket and glass of fine brandy or champagne will be provided by Jeeves very shortly 🥂

  2. This times infinity. There's no point in carrying stuff you're not qualified to use as it adds weight and you could cause more problems for the patient if you don't know what you're doing

  3. Well, the buton was pushed (well the phone was tapped).... AA G36, GBBR... Stuck a spare red dot on there with a foregrip[ and the mini PEQ box I got the other day - which has a surprisingly effective strobe and torch function). Came with two mags, but I bought a third for shits and giggles. Surprised by how much gravity it has and less creaking than I was lead to expect from the vids online. Standby for some potentially daft questions in the Gas Section. Recoil is pretty effective too.

  4. At the beginning of the year I decided to take the plunge and make a second MWS build. Although I'm really happy with my first, which I run completely stock, standfast a SixG nub and externals, this one I plan on tinkering with a bit. I started buying parts a few months back, and yesterday the last ones arrived. I'm building a 14.5" SOCOM URG-I from the following purchases: · TM M4A1 Carbine base · HAO Mk16 13.5” handguard · HAO SOCOM Daniel Defense 14.5” outer barrel · HAO Surefire 4-prong flash hider · HAO Geiselle low profile gas block · HAO Geiselle Ultra Precision trigger guard · HAO SF 556 SOCOM suppressor (hardcore version) · Angry Gun Geiselle Airborne Charging Handle · Magpul K2+ grip · Magpul M-LOK hand stop · Magpul SL Stock · BavTac MHN · Bavtac Titanium Zet Plate · BavTac 140% nozzle return spring · Blue Force Gear padded VCAS (Olive Drab) · Blue Force Gear QD sling swivel x2 · WADSN metal NGAL I may also add a Magpul BAD lever and some rail covers, but for now Romeo Dunn on the purchasing. To complete the build I'm going to repurpose a HAO Geiselle Super Precision scope mount, Vortex Crossfire II 1-4x 24 scope and Element Surefire Scout Light M600. Before I start though, I want to get the gun out, box fresh, and run a few hundred rounds through it as is, and measure stock performance, before I start dicking around. edit - Forgot to add that, as great as the HAO suppressor is, don't buy the Hardcore version like I did. Thing weighs a ton. The cheaper Airsoft version would've been a better choice.

  5. It's not about ratting out the site, because this kind of thing has happened at most of the ones I've been too. I'm the General Manager of my company, so have no problem confronting people, but would rather switch off at airsoft. I was in the toilet in the safe zone at one site, come out and someone full-autos the toilet door, about 20cm from my unprotected eyes. I approach the young teen group responsible and tell them where they've gone wrong, making sure they remove mags and clear the chambers in a safe direction. However I reported this to the site owner and he stopped me mid-game to find these kids. I'm the one who ended up feeling guilty. Shout-out to South Coast CQB, who were so diligent that they questioned why I was in the staging area between games. I'd rather be watched too closely, than not at all.

    First Aid Kits

Yes, a small one in an LBX pouch. I have even sewn the top bellows part closed on the pouch to stop it flopping about - this would all fit in a combat trouser pocket easy. Plasters Compeed Paracetamol x4 Nurofen x4 Asprin x1 Immodium x4 Saline wash pods x2 4” burn dressing Eye dressing x2 Z-fold gauze Tweezers Tick Key Gloves 4” Israeli bandage, outer removed (still in inner vacpac - can use for chest seal) External: Shears Roll of electrical tape Enough to treat the main ailments - hangover, dodgy footware and under cooked burgers 🤢 Burnshield dressing for pyro users not good at the counting… Gauze can be used to pack serious wounds, at junctions and on limbs - much more useful than a TQ. You just need to poke it in with a finger 😳 One plea from me: get some basic training (FA at Work, StJohns, Red ross) and DON’T BUY FAKE TORNIQUETS FROM EBAY!!!! 😂

  9. Just to throw some more confusion in to the mix, I have a Gen 1 Mustang SFP scope, the Victoptics S6 (1-6 x 24 SFP) and I had the original version of what is now the Victoptics ZOD 1-4 (mine was FFP). Victoptics are the "budget" range of Vector Optics products but they are definitely better than most other cheap units. The S6 comes with a throw lever for the magnification ring too. They've all been fantastic scopes. The ones that go down to x1 are true x1, they hold their zero and will survive most ham fisted treatment. I say most because apparently if an 18 stone bloke falls arse over tit and lands on it, it bends.

    First Aid Kits

Following on from a conversation with some players, just thought I'd see what people are carrying in the way of first aid kits at game days? Do you carry one or just leave it to the site? Does anyone carry more than a first aid kit?

  13. When safety becomes a concern, such as in this case, take it to the staff. If they aren't bothered, then they don't deserve your money, or anyone's money. And you'll probably feel a whole lot more guilty if you give someone a pass for a near miss and they end up blinding some poor bugger taking a dump.
    1 point
  14. That stuff goes straight to the site owner - the first time. Not all bristling and "You must sort this", but "Dunno if you're bothered, but..." Sadly, about half the time, they're not bothered, regardless of what they've been claiming up to that point. I'm constantly lowering my expectations of what to expect from sites, and trying not to get fussed over it. If you're asking about whether to rat out the site here, ehhh, maybe. It's not likely to put anyone off, and if it does come to the site's attention they will either deny it, or say "We'll definitely sort that" (and then not), so it's really up to you whether you want to get it off your chest.

  15. Blank pistols at a skirmish is ridiculous imo. If it’s a milsim/immersion then fair enough, but I don’t think it’s needed at all in your average Sunday skirmish. Loud noises send me into a panic, one of my old local sites marshals (who was about 13, but that’s another story) decided to constantly fire a blank pistol at the start of games and randomly throughout the games. Made the entire day awful for me 😂

  19. I subscribe to the school of thought of wider barrel has a better buffer zone for "more dampening of oscillations", and in the real life environment because of dust or other minute imperfections of the BB or vibrations or other factors I think the wider bore is more capable of better consistency, because the same speck of dust might have affected the tight bore more than a wider bore. And I think the inside surface finish (factory finish vs mirror polished) is probably going to have a bigger impact on the aerodynamics (thus consistency/accuracy) than say the nominal diameter.

  23. Lemme go check..... They fit fine in my Osprey rig, although, not the official pouches - the flap doesn't reach over enough. I have some Viper pouches on it with elastic straps, and they seem fine. On my lightweight rig, they don't fit the regular pouches, but might go in the internal zipped ones.

  24. Do you have pouches they'll fit in? I struggled with my m4 type mags(even the double mag pouches), so got some from the classifieds on here.

  25. Sweet.....pistols we'll have with us, its the RIFs that will likely be staying. I'll keep them at my ol' man's house in the cellar with his real steel. So warm and dry. Going to look up this gt85 stuff now. Cheers all.

Good to know, i dont really buy on site and mostly travel around looking for cqb sites anyway, woodland just does not scratch that itch.

It was £25 which is about average for a woodland site. Putting it up by a tenner without offering anything extra is a bit of a joke tbh, especially with the amount of time spent waiting around between games. Also their on site shop prices are a bit on the high side, eg £17 for a bottle of .28g bbs Put it this way, it works out better value for me to travel to a site near Cobham than it is for me to go to apocalypse

  29. I'd spray a good amount of GT85 (Not WD40) into the gearbox via the nozzle. Best to keep them at the back of a wardrobe but if going into the loft then wrap them up in a sheet, towel or blanket. Shed or garage is the last resort for storage. The batteries should be kept indoors and either charged using 'storage' setting or taken off charge before being full. Pistols should be well sprayed with GT85 again. Mags are the hard part because they're unlikely to keep pressure for months so will need checking and topping up.

  30. I’m actually convinced they made the gears semi-proprietary on purpose, since there’s really no reason at all to place the gears like they did and make the spur unusual… it’s painful. One note on adding a Perun Hybrid—it actually takes a fair amount of material removal to fit a Perun to their GB shells, so be ready with your dremel, but go for it!

  31. probably be fine, keep em in a bag or something so dust dont get in

  32. If you're worried about storing them, rather than stripping them, why not simply add a few light squirts of silicone oil using the ' extension tube' into the gearbox via any opening & in the nozzle? I don't know if it would solidify over time but it would preserve the moving parts & you could strip & clean it off easily enough when you want to use the rif's again.

  33. My first two airsoft guns lived in the loft for several years, and still functioned much as I'd left them when I un-retired them. And I did sod-all to prep them for storage. So if you're prepared to crack open gearboxes and re-lube stuff at some point in the not-so-distant future, I reckon you'll be fine. But maybe someone who's had other / more experience can chip in :]

  36. Why are Krytac like this 😂 That said, i'm happy with the performance as is and the only 'upgrade' I would potentially be looking at is a Perun Hybrid or AB++ so I can get some AB & precocking. I'd probably go the Hybrid route as I need as much space in my buffer tube as possible as that's where the battery lives in my Krytac. 18:1 gears are absolutely fine and don't need to be changed but was asking about them as I read they're proprietary but haven't actually opened it up as of yet. I still use 18:1 in my Mk18 build and it's competitive in semi & full auto with most other AEGs that aren't DSG. The difference between my 18:1 Mk18 and 13:1 MP5 makes zero difference in the real world.

  41. I'm very happy to be corrected by others but to have 31,000 turns of copper wire on an armature would mean that the wire would be microscopically thin (bending the laws of physics kind of thin). I've not disassembled and serviced an electric motors since I used to race RC cars, but it really can't be TPA. It has to be RPM, but who knows at what voltage so lets assume 11.1v so they can put a nice high number on their packaging So, I'm still leaning towards it just being too fast a motor, and we've no idea how efficient the Falcon controller is regarding braking the motor so we only get a single gearbox cycle (but as it's made to a very cheap price point I'm going to assume it's nowhere close to as good as say a GATE Titan). A manufacturer like GATE may even publish figures for how high an RPM is supported, so that active braking can occur effectively, and we could use this as our yardstick for the Falcon as well.
