The 'How Did Your Airsoft Day Go? Thread
RebelScum and 3 others reacted to Tactical Pith Helmet for a topic
How did it work for those who were cast as civilians or the ineffective national army roles? The civvies set up stalls, played roles such as village elder, merchant etc, and interacted with the TF and insurgents. After the bomb went off in the village they joined the insurgency to get the TF out of country. So they got some trigger time from about 3pm on the Saturday. Some followed the action all day, frustrating the TF or army, some were on the radio relaying info to the organiser. The national army dudes had their own objectives. They were left pretty much alone, so probably got these done well. They were ineffective in stopping the insurgency, but great at grassing the insurgents up to the TF for cash, and grassing the TF to the insurgents too! We decided to do them in late Saturday, but they offered to join us instead. Before that, they probably had a few fights alongside the TF. They were well sneaky buggers that's for sure. They cleverly played both ends against the middle as it were. if you get cast in a more passive role but were hoping for front-line action is that just part and parcel of participating or was there some flexibility that meant all the factions got a decent amount of trigger time over the weekend? You choose your role, unless asked to take one as a favour to the organiser as an experienced player. Civvies get a reduced ticket cost, but usually are allowed to choose a faction to support after a certain hour, or event. On the other hand, a pal on our insurgent team had such fun LARPing it up, that he basically played a non-com all weekend unless he had a chance to get a sneaky kill with his hidden pistol. He did three TF players and got away scot free. Since the TF had to avoid civ casualties, he wandered into firefights 'looking for livestock' and generally got in their way. Everyone gets trigger time if they want it. On Sunday, it was TF v everyone else as all of the 'locals' combined. One of the police had a blank firer which added to the atmosphere, if nothing else! If you're up for a game, there's always a welcome and a guiding hand for new players. I've buddied up with first timers a few times. and newbies are identified at the start so that we all know to help. Next similar game that I know of is September's game at Gunman Alpha, it's Namsoft of some description. Take a look at Gunman and Sierra Bravo Airsoft websites. Several people on here play these events, just shout if you want someone to team up with for a first game. Rebel Scum, Impulse, Evil Monkee, and I all do these regularly.4 points -

Holy moly, this place looks awesome! https://www.silverstoneshootingcentre.co.uk/two-story-skills-house-1/ I don't know if he's planning on running CQB courses, but I know there are some airsoft teams that are using it already for shenanigans (sorry, training). It's not often us poor civilians get access to stuff like this. At £650 for the day, I know it won't be me any time soon lol.2 points -
LOL feel like putting up a wanted add now, something rare & exotic, proper rocking horse poop, pricing it at £15 & saying "I'm firm on the price, I know what these things are worth, no ones mugging me off. ?2 points

Sniping is fun too, but you're going the right way by playing with an AEG first. It's worth mentioning that YouTube gameplay, and particularly sniping, tends to be heavily edited to the point of being straight up fantasy. I mean, you can have great days where nearly everything hits, but in reality, we're slinging tiny bits of spinning plastic in the wind and rain and physics doesn't care how much we've spent. I'd recommend trying CQB as well if you can, it's a more intense experience - with shorter walks to respawn!1 point

TM MP5 NGRS Owners
Rogerborg reacted to mightyjebus for a topic
It might be the main board within the MP5. TM swapped to another chip type when they moved from the A5 to the SD6. There's a youtube video in Japanese which shows the chip difference. easy and expensive fix is to buy a complete lower from Impulse101. You could try asking Fire-support to order a replacement board but it will take a long time to arrive if they can actually get it (6 months at a guess). You could take the main board to a electronics repair shop and see if they can have a look but if it was me I'd reach out to Phil who runs a youtube channel and his website is https://www.consolefix.shop/. He knows nothing about airsoft but he is a good console/electroincs repair guy who might be able to fix it and maybe get some channel content from the repair. worth giving him a shout.1 point -
TTI PCC carbine (AAP-01) – worthwhile?
The_Lord_Poncho reacted to Skara for a topic
I have one and: It's stupid expensive but imo it's the best option if you want to turn your aap into a carbine, mostly because it replaces the plastic upper allowing for more rigidity. The other kits either use the stock upper as a connector piece or wrap around it, while it may be cheaper it's not as precise as the TTI. The kit comes with buffer tube adapter that takes both AEG and GBB tubes, but you can also use the AA folding stock (you'll need to use the TTI bridge otherwise the rail won't sit flush). The upper comes with a threaded portion for your AEG handguard (TTI says it's also GBB/RS compatible but I sadly can't test this) and a small barrel stub that is just enough to cover the stock 129mm barrel, but should you wish you can replace it for an M4 barrel of your desired length. It has a built-in TDC that works really well, although the only negative is that it has clicks and may or may not have the perfect hop adjustment for your liking, but this can be sorted easily. I have set mine up as a SMG, with a G&G ARP-9 handguard and AA folding stock, but it can be used as a pocket dmr as well because the range is just silly, even at 1J with a 129mm inner.1 point -

Looking at getting into GBBRs.
C-Diddy reacted to RostokMcSpoons for a topic
While it is a good idea to run around with a few lo cap mags to see what the downside is like, make sure you do try the GBBR's to experience the upside. Otherwise it's not fair ?1 point -
As always, loads of decent suggestions here. I've got a couple of MWS and, clichéd as it sounds, they're just awesome. Yes, they're expensive, but of the box, without doing a thing to them, they work bloody well. Mags are another story and a necessary expense, sadly. You'll likely need a fair few, but these can be built up over time. No 'upgrades' are strictly necessary, but a SixG or Bavtac nub are a good place to start, and nozzle return springs are a must as they will shit themselves at some point. Gameplay is very different with GBBRs and before making the leap, if you're using an AEG, try playing with a lo-cap, or something like a PTS mag, switched to 30 round capacity, and see how you fair. Can't speak for WEs, VFCs or GHKs, but my experiences with TMs have been excellent.1 point

Unspoken rules in airsoft?
Baptimus_Prime reacted to MrTea for a topic
Like is it generally frowned upon if you get too close to enemy spawn because it is spawn camping? Yes. Should you call hits if your own team shot you? Yes. Does ricochet count as hits? Not at the sites I play. Direct hits only. How do you execute a knife kill, and does it only count if the enemy hasn't noticed you and if you do it , or can you engage a enemy around a corner and try to land a stab as they try to shoot you or is this not allowed? Engage however you want, they have to shoot to kill you. You cannot force their weapon "off line". The best way to get a knife kill is from a flank or be faster than them. A couple of personal ones I feel should be standard; If you shoot someone and they look hurt, you stop what you're doing as see if they're okay. This mainly applies to CQC sites and especially for rental players as they tend to be given crap gear by sites. If you can't figure out who shot who first because it was such a close call, you both take the hit (trade) and go back to spawn. Don't touch others gear without asking first. If you find anything on a field that's clerarly out of place/lost, you bring it to marshalls, not pocket it. Edit: Forgot the most important one; ALWAYS help your rentals. Balance teams so rentals are even spaced and actually have a chance, not constantly getting demolished by the more experienced players and/or speedsoft lads. They're the lifeblood of this hobby/sport and preventing them from having fun means they'll never come again.1 point -

Any one interested in polsim?
Baptimus_Prime reacted to Emergencychimps for a topic
Polsim is very niche, there's very few who are proper dedicated to it.....but that loadout is pretty impressive. I have seen it add a huge element to some events and then be almost irrelevant at the next based on how the players are. Personally I hate the focus on whether a face is blurred. Some photos just have people pulling silly faces, sometimes there's a genuine reason (workwise) where you don't want pics of you running round playing toy soldiers or fake coppers to be available. Having been heavily involved in recruitment for some big employers I've seen hiring managers get funny about lesser subjects.1 point -

well, i should be happy right now... finally got my VFC M249 from SWIT airsoft delivered by UPS, but found the customs monkeys have got to it... boxes had been unwrapped, but then thrown back together with just a cross of border force tape holding the wrappings together and most of the inner boxes exposed due to the bubble wrap being hastily thrown around them first parcel contained the M249 and spare mags, every box and bag roughly opened, cardboard packing "frames" clearly disturbed. opened the bag to withdraw the gun, and found the front sight has been broken off. two of the tabs of the dovetail broken off and all the bits thrown in the bag. second parcel contained the external gas tank, again opened. this time the monkeys have used a screwdriver or something similar to pry off the end plate of the box to get to the inside (rather than opening it up using the two plastic tabs that hook onto the pegs on the rest of the box) the end result was that the plastic cover plate has been split in two different places. my brand new gun and its been broken by some incompetent, useless, clumsy customs monkey, i am FUCKING LIVID!!!! P.S @Skullchewer, this was the new toy i was teasing about bringing on sunday... but due to the damage i dont know if i will be bringing it now =/0 points
