  1. I feel this thread is in need of a timely BUMP.

  2. WHAT A DAY! Red Alert's second Battlesim "LITE". Like a Battlesim day without camo/ammo/loadout restrictions. Military vehicles on the field, set objectives etc. At the start of the day I got a surprise when I was handed a marshall radio and told I was the on the field commander for Red team (Each team has a commander who stays at HQ and a second in command on the field). But... but, I'm in full ghillie with a bolt action! OH WELL! It was HUMID! So much so that before lunch I had already shed my ghillie and was roaming far more than I usually do in sniper mode, as I needed to relay objective updates, assign reinforcements etc. There were intel cards available for capture, dotted around, and at objective capture points intel boxes with bundles of cards. Intel cards had a face value of 1 or 2 seconds. You could return the cards to HQ at any time, and once you had a minimum of 20 seconds acrued you could then don a Purple High Vis, which took you out of normal play, and head into the Kill House. In the Kill House you used your accrued time to run the course of Attack Sense targets, getting a point for each succesful target taken out, using a stock G&G M4 issued by the Kill House Marshall. Your points gained added to your teams victory points. It was an EXCELLENT day all round. I didn't hear any complaints about hit taking, the atmosphere and team work were exceptional. A highlight was escorting the Feret armoured car (Google it) to collect intel boxes, with a gun emplacement atop the Feret. MAYHEM! Final scores for the day: Yellow team: 96 points My lovely, attractive, obedient, talented Red team: 274 points Quite a victory. Also, at the end of the day @Smiling-Dutchman was made a member of The Outcasts (Our small, select group of dickheadds that play BANG YOU'RE DEAD in the woods together regularly). Photo not from today, but Dutch is in it, so 😋

  5. There definitely is something broken, and it’ll be a little tab on the bottom of the box at the front by the trigger. This exact thing happened to mine, but I was fortunate enough to see the bit of plastic fall out when I got frustrated and took it all apart. I bought a new switch assembly and did a straight swap and all was solved.

  7. Like is it generally frowned upon if you get too close to enemy spawn because it is spawn camping? Yes. Should you call hits if your own team shot you? Yes. Does ricochet count as hits? Not at the sites I play. Direct hits only. How do you execute a knife kill, and does it only count if the enemy hasn't noticed you and if you do it , or can you engage a enemy around a corner and try to land a stab as they try to shoot you or is this not allowed? Engage however you want, they have to shoot to kill you. You cannot force their weapon "off line". The best way to get a knife kill is from a flank or be faster than them. A couple of personal ones I feel should be standard; If you shoot someone and they look hurt, you stop what you're doing as see if they're okay. This mainly applies to CQC sites and especially for rental players as they tend to be given crap gear by sites. If you can't figure out who shot who first because it was such a close call, you both take the hit (trade) and go back to spawn. Don't touch others gear without asking first. If you find anything on a field that's clerarly out of place/lost, you bring it to marshalls, not pocket it. Edit: Forgot the most important one; ALWAYS help your rentals. Balance teams so rentals are even spaced and actually have a chance, not constantly getting demolished by the more experienced players and/or speedsoft lads. They're the lifeblood of this hobby/sport and preventing them from having fun means they'll never come again.

  8. Haven't gone wrong with my Warrior Asssault System plate carrier yet to be honest. Only issue is, it gets hot fecking fast so i've switched to a chest rig for now. I even paid Novritsch for some of the ventilated hexagonal dummy plates he sells to help with the heat. A guy I was speaking to swears by the Bulldog Tactical plate carriers. There's plenty of options floating around in the classifieds, i'd have a mooch there to see what you like the look of.

  12. That sounds like a cracking day's airsoft; I do like that type of Battlesim-ish day and fondly remember the "spec ops" days we used to run at Pembury. No airsoft for me today; I spent the afternoon in a rehearsal studio finalising my projections for our second festival gig of the year on Friday night.

  13. Cracking couple of days airsofting. Took my mate and his two boy's out for their second all day session at High Wycombe Skirmish. Pissed down nearly the whole day, but it didn't dampen (arf) the fun. Really good BBQ lunch too. Nothing particulary outstanding about the games, but our favourite was the last one where the winning team was the one with their coloured hoop on the pole in the little village set up at the end. Today, despite being knackered from yesterday, the boy and I got up at 5:30 to get to REDCON 2 for their Battlesim Lite - and for me to defeat my tooth loosing demons. 😔 (More dental work needed as the repair failed after three days). Anyway, three teams of 30ish with a list of objectives, a few mortars, a Snatch landrover, and a people carrier at their disposal for an all day mission, including eating out in the field. Muggins here volunteered to be one of the two medics, meaning I had a box to hump around with medical bracelets to hand out. Thankfully, I was in my plate carrier with the collars fitted otherwise my neck would be in shreds - although by lunch I had decided to have a load of the bracelets on one wrist for rapid deployment. Each team also had a player Marshall as team leader who was actively competting for their team - we had Costus (spelling?) who was running around like a mad thing coordinating squads and making sure we did our best to acheive the list of objectives. Objectives varied from holding a position for 20 minutes, disabling a vehicle by inserting an EMP device, stealing a USB drive, stealing an ID card from the opposition leader and mortaring an opponent's FOB - amongst others. A 900 round limit/3 high caps for Riflemen also kept things nicely balanced between being able to keep engagements going, but keeping your mind on limited ammo. It was a great laugh buzzing around in a Snatch landrover, with a turret gunner (we had two LMGs on our side) heading to a combat zone and jumping out the back under fire. Certainly makes you admire more, the guys in the armed forces having to go into hot zones in those things!!! Our team struggled a bit in the morning, down to communication and not fully working as a team - however, the afternoon session saw us much more cohesive and we nailed objectives pretty consistently - they haven't announced the overall winners yet - but I think we migh have done it. The boy and I were also getting the hang of being able to communicate over longer distances with our new headsets - and being able to speak (partially for me) in Japanese meant that the couple of dude's on the Red team who happened to be on the same channel couldn't be Sneaky Bois by listening in. It was also a buzz to have team members coming up and thanking us medics for keeping them in the game all day. The old smart watch is saying I've run nearly 14 miles over the two days. All in all, it is a great field, and the marshalls know the crack. It's a shame it's a 3 hour round trip for us. The Battlesim format looks to be a regular thing going forward, and they said they were going to listen to the ideas the players were suggesting at the end of the day, not that anything needed fixing. There's a two day event in October that I am definelty planning on attending. Pics when they post them.

Soo.... I might have "accidentally" used my credit card and pre ordered one with SWIT airsoft... I know I will get stung with import duty, but still got to be cheaper than buying from the only UK based seller I can find taking preorders... Just a little bit annoyed that they haven't released the CO2 tank option yet... hoping it gets released soon

  17. Warrior assault system. I used repro before and was disappointed in the durability. Moved over to warrior kit after trying some at a game site. I've been using warrior kit ever since. Current plate carrier setup is an rpc. Placard system but you can use molle placard panels to build you own interchangeable setups, that's what I do. Quick addition, I've tried some of the newer viper stuff, it's a mixed bag. If you stay within the viper range then stuff fits together but the clips need modification or replacement if you want it to fit with real steel kit.

  20. Actually this brings up a good unspoken rule: Don't get your hotdog out.
    1 point
  21. If you want to get a "knife kill" I suggest the use of hotdogs. Bonus is if they feel a bit deflated after getting a "knife kill" you can give them the hotdog (it still tasted good)

  22. Generally, but not always: yes, yes, no, and you shouldn't be stabbing anyone with anything, let alone round a corner where you can't see what you're poking at. "Knife kills" should be carefully laying a hand or some toy on someone from behind, only as hard as necessary to make them aware of it, not engaging in any sort of fencing match. None of these should be "unspoken", they should be covered clearly at the briefing. If your regular site(s) aren't doing that, you might want to have a constructive word with the staff and remind them that there's no way for new players or visitors to know how they expect the game to be played unless they tell them.

  23. Me too. I feel a total cnut otherwise. I think Reforger play it as a rule.... But it's a matter of honour really. We've lost mags, even guns... They've always been handed in, and I think that makes airsoft special as does the friendly banter in the safe zone. That was something I should have mentioned about Saturday at High Wycombe. We had a marvellous chat with some Aussies on a 6 month world tour.

  24. Not a rule where I play, but if I team kill I take the hit myself 🤘

  25. Ricochet shouldn't count. Friendly fire should, but I also believe that the offender should be the one to respawn if its clear who did it.
    1 point
  26. Never played at a site where ricochet count, but i am pretty damn sure i have taken hits from drops of rain before, cause you are never quiet sure.
    1 point
  27. Yup, pretty mediocre for a pink one like that. Has the basic form, but none of the detail. Still, at ~£100, there's much less worry about dropping or scratching it You'd be better Cerakoting a Detonics .45 or something.
    1 point
  28. Ricochets counting depend site-to-site, likewise how knife-kills are handled -- but giving them a chance to surrender aside, it's generally higher back/shoulder area, and the knife generally has to be a rubber one that can be bent 90º -- no stabbing folk in the delicate or squishy bits

  29. Been to some fields where friendly fire doesn't count, or where friendly fire means the person shooting has to go respawn. And a site where friendly fire means both people involved have to respawn so the one person can apologize to the other, so it all depends on which site you go to, but it'll always be explained during the game day briefing (or just ask a marshal if you're unsure). I've never played at a field where ricochets count, but it's always mentioned that if you're unsure if it was a direct hit or ricochet, just take it. Spawn camping is annoying and generally frowned upon in my opinion, but most sites I play at have spawns thus far away from each other it's difficult to get to the enemy spawn (except one site I played at that had a massive field with 5 spawnpoints where it occasionally happened, but usually telling the attacker that he's at a spawn is enough for them to try his luck somewhere else.

  30. Like is it generally frowned upon if you get too close to enemy spawn because it is spawn camping? Yes. Should you call hits if your own team shot you? Yes. Does ricochet count as hits? No. How do you execute a knife kill, and does it only count if the enemy hasn't noticed you and if you do it , or can you engage a enemy around a corner and try to land a stab as they try to shoot you or is this not allowed? Depends on the site but it's usually a light tap to the t-shirt area, with a suitable larp safe melee weapon. It counts if you manage to do it and you're not dead when you do it. Trying to stab someone with a larp weapon around a corner could be viewed as blind firing. Most larp safe knives are still "pointy" to a degree, thrusting it wildly round a corner, hoping for a melee kill is pretty dangerous. You could knock off eye pro, jab someone in the ear, who knows what? I wouldn't recommend it.

  31. Yes Yes If they haven’t hit you, before you “stab” them, then it should be allowed Just my opinions, of course. I would assume it depends on the field/scenario/game and many other factors though. I know that some sites I’ve been too count ricochet, others don’t.

  36. Agreed, was fun! I really enjoyed the attack/defend bit with the ferret! (my throat is a bit sore from shouting...) And the using the cards you find for more time to go into the fort and doing the shooting course in there for the actual points was really good, makes it a bit more fun (and 'light', which I guess was the idea) And thanks for making me a member of the team, And apologies for making the team worse (it will happen, it is inevitable)

Common sense is key and if in doubt, throw it out. I've seen and caused a fair few lipo fires and abuse is always a trigger, although that's much korw common in fpv flight than airsoft I think.

  41. As shown in the manual, you need to connect both red wires (the one to the battery and the one to the motor) to the same terminal on the trigger unit, with the signal wire going to the other terminal. It is probably best to put the mosfet in the dummy mag, soldering the wires to it as shown in the manual.
