The 'How Did Your Airsoft Day Go? Thread
C-Diddy and 2 others reacted to Skullchewer for a topic
Took my VFC G3 GBBR out for the first time yesterday. Within seconds of the whistle blowing for the start of the first game I had two kills. I absolutely looooove this pew pew. Great day all over all. My friend took out his new Vorsk VPM1, and it's crazy fun, very accurate with surprising range for a compact SMG. Got shot in the balls again. Thankfully I've never wanted children. End of the day, after most people went home we messed around on the Attack Sense range. There's a competition running now, £1 for 3 goes, best time at the end of the month wins a free game day. I am not winning. 😁 I set a decent time, but my reflexes are not those of someone 30 years younger!3 points -

Did a search of the site to see if any news on the pre-order delivery and was surprised these had not been posted. https://trittech-us.com/ Looking at the youtube channel ballistic testing seems good and the antifog look amazing. From someone that can fog a DYE mask I use an ExFOG like system but its just a PITA with the tubes so most of the time I wear my heroshark mesh but I have astigmatism and in low light suffer. Fingers crossed they turn out as advertised.2 points -

As someone who does a lot of hiking, I have never really understood the need for expensive hiking trousers; a pair of flecktarn shorts or DPM trousers do the job perfectly well. Most hiking clothing is more about marketing than need.2 points -

Aside from a bit of linishing, polishing, a trip to a friendly local engraver and then either further polishing (unrealistic but would look nice imo) or zinc phosphate, here's me latest completely impractical cqb toy. Literally works exactly as the real thing except with a plastic non pointy "firing pin" (more akin to what we see in m203s and aps cam870 mk2) and a chamber deliberately designed not to be able to take the pressure. It's also slightly the wrong bore for any modern shotgun shell.1 point -
Hello peeps, I wonder if anyone can help. I have a mystery Glock 26 of unknown vintage I got off a friend. The top slide is cracked and needs replacing but I have no idea who its made by or if its a clone of a clone of a clone. Could be made anytime on the last 20 years. No apparent hop unit, no ASGUK branding I can find. I have attached a couple of pics. I don't know if its worth repairing really but my Mrs is rather taken with it and that's to be keenly encouraged! Even if she is wrong and should use a 1911 like a civilized person. Cheers1 point

Double Eagle or spend more?
RostokMcSpoons reacted to Gunboat Diplomat for a topic
And to round out this thread, it has arrived. Good service from BBG4L, shipped same day via Parcelforce 24, but crossed the weekend so only received today as for some reason they didn't come on Saturday (Parcelforce normally always deliver at 9am on a Sat morning and get me out of bed, but not this time it seems). Checked out the boy's G36 first, way more solid than I was expecting for its budget price and all plastic build. Added bonus is a load of my existing 2S car LiPos will fit in the front stock so he's set for batteries for life. Hooked up a 1-point sling so he doesn't drop it on the first day, but to be honest it looks like it could take a tumble and shrug it off. He is smitten which is the main thing. Double Eagle next. First point of note is it seems they are supplying midcaps now instead of the advertised hicap mag (or at least they did in mine). Not sure if I consider that a pro or a con yet. Measured the buffer tube and ordered a couple of batteries from Vapextech, but managed to get a few test shots with one of my spare (but too big) batteries hanging out the back. Feels much more responsive than the rental guns I've used so far, whatever trigger lag there is is pretty imperceptible to me. No idea on accuracy or power til I get to a decent length range and my chrono arrives from China. Fit and finish is about right for the price, well screwed together aside from a couple of rattly catches and a bit of wobble in the stock, metal is pretty thin but then I'm not planning to hammer nails in with it and I have to lug it around all day. Ergonomics are really good, all very subjective but fits me better than any of the renters have so far. Not sure I'll be getting another game in until the end of the month now, so field testing will have to wait.1 point -
Setting motor height
RostokMcSpoons reacted to EDcase for a topic
Yeah, active breaking is very hard on motors. Luckily there is a lot of leeway for adjusting the motor height and it only causes a problem at the extremes. In some gearboxes there's a window to see the Pinion and Bevel gears mesh together. This way you can remove the grips so you can see the engagement and mark the adjuster screw where it should be. If there isn't a window in the gearbox its possible to drill a small observation hole but obviously at a risk. Another effecive but long way is to open the gearbox and attach the motor to the half shell so you can see the gears mesh clearly. Mark the adjustment and its perfect. Most people will just screw it all the way in and then undo one or two turns. (Listen to it as you undo half a turn at a time)1 point -

Krytac PDW M MKII - Custom Stock & Drop Stock - Mod
Airsoftt reacted to NeonMidnight for a topic
I thought I would make a post about modifying the stock on a Krytac PDW-M MKII as I couldn't find any information about it online when I was researching and preparing for this mod. So if you are interested in modifying the stock of the PDW-M (Custom M4 Stock or Drop Stock) and are looking for a quick tutorial you have come to the right place. Let's start with just a standard M4 custom stock and move on to the drop stock after. The first thing to say is this mod was overall 100% worth the time, money and effort. Why modify the stock? Let's face it PDW stocks have a reputation for being not so great! I mean sure they work… but they are not ideal. After using the Krytac PDW-M for a while I had a few issues with the stock. Firstly even when it was fully extended it was still a little short. This made for a firing potion that felt very unnatural. Like holding my body in a stress position. The but of the Stock also does not sit well in my shoulder. Being able to fit a standard M4 Stock in place of the PDW Stock helped solve these problems. How to modify the stock This mod is really easy to do. If you Google the Part Diagrams for the Krytac PDW and the Krytac CRB you will see that the Receivers are identical. This means that the standard Krytac Trident M4 Buffer Tube from the CRB will fit on the PDW with no modifications. Just don’t forget to also grab the Sling Plate that goes between the Buffer Tube and Receiver. As far as I can tell the official Krytac Buffer Tube is a standard M4 Buffer Tube. So you might be able to save some money by getting a cheaper aftermarket M4 Buffer Tube. I would recommend you double check the dimensions before buying any aftermarket parts. I had a little extra money and just went for official Krytac parts for continuity's sake. Removing the PDW stock is easy. There is just one cross head screw inside that battery compartment. Installing the Trident M4 Buffer Tube is a little tricky and it takes a little dexterity to get the wire and washer lined up with the Buffer Tube. Again it's basically just one cross head screw and a washer. You will need a long screwdriver to fit down the Buffer Tube. I just grabbed one on Amazon for about £8. Congratulations… You now have a standard M4 Buffer Tube on your PDW and any aftermarket M4 Stock will now fit the rifle. Again for the Stock I grabbed an official Krytac Trident Stock but I’m planning to try some aftermarket ones later on. Let's move onto the drop stock… What is a Drop Stock Adapter? In short a Drop Stock Adapter lowers the Stock of the rifle about an inch allowing you to get any optic/sights up at eye level without using annoyingly big risers. I also really love the look of a drop stock and it does look awesome on the PDW IMO! My favourite Red Dot doesn't really have any legs and sits really low down. This in combination with my Dye Mask makes it impossible for me to get my eye behind the Red Dot without the use of a stupidly massive riser. It completely ruined the look of the rifle and was not very practical. Lowering the Stock eliminated this problem. How to Drop Stock a Krytac PDW? Again this mod was really easy to do. First you need a Drop Stock Adapter. I grabbed mine from the link below. https://www.badas.design/shop/g-and-g-compatible-airsoft-static-drop-stock?utm_medium=email&utm_source=customer_notification There are a handful of people selling these online so have a look around. The adapter just fits between the Sling Plate and Buffer Tube. As with most custom 3D Printed parts it will need sanding down before you try to fit it. Even with a hammer it would not fit the rifle without sanding (I do not recommend you try and hammer it on! You will break the adapter!). I found some coarse sandpaper and little model files worked best for this. You can grab a set really cheap on Amazon. I spent about 30 minutes sanding it while watching a movie and then it fit just fine. With some Rifles the round part of the Receiver the adapter fits onto (The Buffer Tube Mounting Point) will be slightly too long for the adapter. I had this problem with the Krytac PDW and my choice of Adapter. This creates a small gap between the adapter and the Receiver that the Sling Plate can rattle around in (Annoying!!!). It was only about 1-2mm wide but it was annoying me that it did not sit flush with the Receiver and Sling Plate. Drop Stock Tutorials online recommend cutting off a small amount of the Buffer Tube Mounting Point on the Receiver with a Hacksaw to fix this problem. I really did not like the idea of that! I got around this though by doubling up on identical Sling plates to fill the small gap and it seemed to work just fine. As you can see in the above image I have two identical Sling Plates together. The only other thing you will have to do is modify the Sling Plates. Normally the wire will go directly out of the Sling Plate hole into the Buffer Tube. Now with the Drop Stock Adapter the wire has to bend down 90 degrees under the Adapter. I was unable to find a Sling Plate (in stock) online with a hole big enough for this. This was an easy fix though. I just used a cheap Hacksaw to cut the bottom of the Sling Plates out. Shown by the red Box in the bellow image. No need to even do a good job (unless you want to :p) as none of it can be seen once the rifle is assembled. You will need to file down the sling plates after cutting. Mine were unexpectedly sharp and I now have a really bad cut on hand. They were so sharp I didn’t even know I had cut my hand until there was red all over the floor. So be careful. The end results. I am really happy with this mod. Having a real adjustable stock makes for a much more comfortable firing position. The shape of the new Stock also sits better in my shoulder compared with the PDW Stock. The rifle also feels way better balanced. The new Stock seems to distribute the weight of the rifle better. Overall it’s a very noticeable difference. The second from longest Stock position seems to work best for me with my choice of Stock. The Drop Stock has done its job and I now have my Red Dot on the rifle at eye level with no stupid risers. I thought it might make the rifle feel a bit off, balance wise. You really don’t even notice it at all holding the rifle. Everything seems to be on nice and tight and I don’t think it would break. Looks wise I’m also very happy. IMO the rifle looks way better with a standard M4 Stock and I love the look of the Drop Stock. So I would 100% recommend this mod to anyone who has this rifle.1 point -

@Beorn, have a look at karrimor panther trousers, I've a few pairs in different colours, they're great for everyday use, my hiking days are on semi-permanent hold lol, but as a former sportsman I've got larger than average thighs, these trousers have plenty of stretch so won't pull or limit movement, a real bugbear of mine. If the "31000" value refers to RPM then I think that's a bit too fast a motor. DE say that the stock motor is 19k RPM (but not at what voltage), I'm running AK2M4 XT 22 TPA ones that are 22k RPM on 11.1v and get a very snappy trigger (due to the better magnets etc.), so 31k RPM is going waaaaay beyond what the stock RPM is.1 point

Go for the one you like the look of. As above, Specna and DoubleEagle are both recommended, just avoid Nuprol. Check the body material if that's important to you. Some are polymer and some are metal. Not much structural difference between them but the weight is different if that's something you care about. Following from what Roger said above, first thing to do when you receive your new toy is CLEAN THE BARREL. A strip of cloth with Isopropyl alcohol or window cleaner attached to the cleaning rod. Then the fun bit, thoroughly test it by shooting a good couple of hundred BBs through it to make sure it works properly within the 14 day returns window. Then go and have fun with it at a game site 😀1 point

Society really is turning into a bunch of melts LOL. At university I had a stereo so loud, that when we held a house party, the Student Union bar used to send a member of staff to our hall of residence/house 300m away to ask us to turn it down. Oh man I could tell some stories...… After we left, they turned our place into an Islamic studies building. Apparently we were the last straw in a long line of cohorts that knew how to have a good time. Life is getting so sanitised now it's no wonder our kids are the way they are.1 point -

It'll depend on how low the volume can go but I can still see it potentially causing issues as repetitive noise at lower volumes can still cause hearing damage. A quick Google search shows that repeated exposure to sounds at around 85 decibels can cause hearing damage. This is about the same as a kitchen blender or a truck going past. As sites have a duty of care towards customers then I can see them taking the easy option of banning them rather than leaving themselves open to potential litigation or losing customers due to making ear protection mandatory1 point -
