  1. So I played what may have been the best game mode I have ever played yesterday. The basic premise is a scientist (a marshal, Sam) that needs to be escorted across the site perpendicular to both team's spawns. He could be shot in the legs to stop him for 10 seconds, and was armed with multiple grenades. So it starts off with yellow having a slight advantage in terrain, so they managed to nab him first. But the best part of the game was Sam playing the part of the most squirrely, annoying, uncooperative scientist of all time, and it was goddamn hilarious. He managed to get away from yellow and ran back to his starting area, so our team (Blue) grabbed him. I let off some red smokes to stop them pushing us, and we still spent spent maybe 10 minutes, at some point literally, dragging him up the hill. We were basically playing a game of gun roulette as we switched out who was dragging him up the hill. At one point we got ambushed and he got away, where the yellow team grabbed him again. And again his being difficult helped us, in that he got away from the yellow, and a couple of my friends ended up lifting him up and carrying him towards the objective. It didn't stop here though, after we got him over the ridgeline he managed to take out his multi-use grenade and we spent another good 10 minutes holding his hands closed, dragging him towards the drop off point, with him occasionally dropping a grenade, killing the escorts, and being pelted in the legs to stop him getting away. All while we had to hold of the yellow team from grabbing him. I was completely out of ammo by the end. I had two pistol rounds and a grenade to help defend, getting ready to just run in with said grenade when we managed to secure the win. And it wouldn't be right to tell you all this without linking to our resident youtuber who uploaded all this action in record time! It was an absolute blast, everything airsoft should be.

  3. Good day on Saturday at Special Ops Allegedly around 60 people in the morning, I think it was a little less than that, but better fewer than too many... I took my DE and my sniper rifle, and also my old TM AK47S and my TM AUG HC for a change. I soon realised I didn't have enough sniper ammo and Carlos didn't sell any, so ditched that idea. In the morning I took the AUG out to play. With the new hop rubber it was shooting nicely on 0.25s, but it was windy day. Luckily the high-ish rate of fire can make up for a bit of wind drift The only problem I found with it was it's such good fun I was burning through the ammo too fast. I swapped over to the DE once I'd used up most of 0.25s, as I'd only got 0.32s with me and I didn't think the TM would have enough oomph to lift those. The DE as usual was great, though it was windy enough that even the 0.28s were moving around a bit A few complaints about bullet-proof players ... it seems there were a bunch of Spanish who turned up and didn't seem to understand what 'one BB' means. Maybe they were thinking about 'Juan Beeby' (baddum-tish) Oh well, I didn't have any problem with them personally, and they left at lunchtime. Carlos fed us cheeseburgers AND hot dogs for lunch. A special mention as to how appreciated the 'free' (i.e. built-in to the upfront fee) tea / coffee, lunchtime food, and unlimited bottles of water (which are out on the game area for easy access) are. Compare that to my previous trip to RIFT where all that stuff was extra. In the afternoon the AK got a run out. I've only got a couple of old TM hi caps for that, and they may be showing their age - a lot of winding to get not many pews. Maybe I'm just too used to flash mags now. The gun shot well but on a 7.4v Lipo pushing the old motor it's a little chuggy. So after a while (and once I'd exhausted the 0.25s in the two mags, and the few left over from the AUG), back to the DE. Burned through the remaining 0.28s in that, and then tried the fresh bottle of 0.32s - wow, they hit nice and hard, and fly straight 👍 The player count was much lower (I think down to 12-a-side at the end), and this led to some great opportunities to do some 'hero runs'. I ran out of battery in my DE at one point (Dan - it seems my 4 round burst fire is as draining as binary), switched to pistol-only and managed a couple of good kills with that. Great fun. Decent weather (it had rained the night before but the mud was laughably minimal compared to RIFT), good people, looking forward to the next one!

"Well," said the Director, "we fill up a bathtub, then we offer a teaspoon, a teacup and a bucket to the patient and ask him or her to empty the bathtub." "Oh, I understand," said the visitor. "A normal person would use the bucket because it's bigger than the spoon or the teacup." "No," said the Director, "A normal person would pull the plug. Do you want a room with or without a view?”

So glad I asked for honest opinions here haha, in that case I won't rule out the TM HK45 even with the plastic slide, these are the types of things the airsoft 'influencers' conveniently leave out of their videos, learned some really useful things here so thanks everyone for your responses

I'll also throw my hat in on this. I love watching when people who preach how great their metal slide is try to use them in the winter. My friend wanted to have a go with my HK45 over the weekend, so we went up to the range with it and my TM p226 and squeezed off a few mags with both of them. Every single shot cycled flawlessly and the slide locked back on empty without any issues and it was pretty chilly.

  9. Well, as i cant stand threads that just die off and no one knows what happened.....this happened.... I bought the M4 conversion piece (aliexpress, was about £8 and is 3d printed) and fitted it. The M4 tube mounting screw was about 10mm too long but an M6 nut and a couple of washers and jobs a good un. While i was doing that, i did actually cut his original stock down and with some M4 countersunk bolts, a bit of plate and some swearing, i managed to cut about 12cm off and remount the shoulder part. I'll get some pics tonight when i get home from work but he's a happy chap again. So happy that he bought an MP5. KIDS!!!!!

  16. No, the muzzle energy, measured in Joules, could be the same; the velocity would have to be below 313 FPS when using a 0.25g BB. 313 FPS on 0.25g = 1.13J 350 FPS on 0.20g = 1.13J Sites should really measure in Joules rather than quoting a velocity based on a 0.20g BB, which hardly anyone uses.

I have been to my local site 6 times, and I am already poor but at least I have cool rifs and gear now. Based in Bucks. I've been doing skirmish style games but I'm super interested in getting into some more immersive MilSim kind of stuff, any recommendations on that would be much appreciated. Anyway, good to be here and look forward to seeing u all around. ✌️

  18. Well you can change hop-up rubber, nub, inner barrel and hop-up unit and not opening up your GB. Compression is different. If it's your first gun or a back-up gun I wouldn't touch internals because it's just shit when you can't play because your gun in pieces at home (don't ask me how I know it :D). Just buy a cheapo m4 take it apart until the last screw and that will give you enough confidence regarding V2 gearboxes.

Hands down buy a TM pistol, it will bring maximum joy and minimum ball ache. Any of the ones youve listed are great, BUT i wouldnt go for the Hi-Capa personally - hang on Capa crowd! - yes the Hi-Capas are good historically and very upgradeable, but THE best TMs are the newer generation models with the 15mm BBU, what this means for the user is exceptional cold weather performance and a really solid 'kick' / recoil. You can happily upgrade your TM with a quality aluminium slide in the future if you want to with no loss in performance.

... well of course there are plenty of real-steel (har har) polymer guns these days, so you can have your realism/performance cake and eat it I'm not so au fait with those, and how well the TMs stack up in terms of realism though, tbh.

  21. I can't remember what my gun was shooting at when new, but looking at a joule chart, you should be able to push to 313fps with 0.25's, although the hop setting makes a big difference. Still, there's probably some headroom for a better spring. And if you're doing the spring, you might as well change the hop rubber too... something a little softer than the stock one. I went for the good ol' Maple Leaf Macaron 50 Degree + Omega nub combo. You might just want to pick a G&G Green or Guarder Clear and stick with the existing nub. Seek opinions on that I've used 0.28s in my DE for a while now - very happy with those, until Windy Saturday (just gone) showed me that 0.32s are even better. They are noticeably pricier too, of course, but what's a few quid extra spread over 3000 shots, and given the overall cost of the day.

  22. Thanks for replying! Yeah, I think there are some small adjustments I can make regarding air seal etc. I’ve been running .25g but have been thinking of upping to .28g for better accuracy without compromising too much on distance. I think having the quick change spring system will allow me to experiment a bit more confidently. I also don’t to be opening up the GB as a newbie and getting things wrong. Though I do like to learn how to do things myself 😬 Thanks for replying! 280fps with .25g. It’s a new gun so perhaps I’ll just fit a new spring and see about getting to around 350fps before I make a decision to go down the DMR route. Or, perhaps I just look at running a dedicated DMR gun and spend some more cash 😂 I’m loving the gun so far though, especially after using hire guns for a while. Being able to hit a half decent range makes all the difference.

  24. £410 for a used "short-stroked" (can be done with a few quids worth of buffers) WE Hi-Capa and 2x drum mags. The latter are "worth £300 alone" - if you find literally the most expensive place online and value used magazines at full-price.. So the RIF is worth around £75, say £80 each for the mags (even that's not factoring in any reduction for buying as a bundle)....just add £175 for a used red dot and mount...bargain!

  26. Yeah it kind of sucks, but you can appreciate there are too many people out there who'd abuse an honour system with that. Plus the small matter that a gun that can shoot full auto at higher velocities is actually illegal... You might get away with just drilling and tapping a hole in the receiver and screwing a bolt into it, to physically prevent selecting full auto. I'd check with your site though. Even that's a bit too easy to reverse on the field. I'll let more knowledgeable people tell you how to do a permanent alteration (that can still be reversed by replacing one component, though it'll involve opening the gearbox) If the site limit is 400fps, you have to question whether losing full auto and the ability to engage at < 20/30m is worth giving up for that small extra velocity (which might only give you an extra 5 or 10m range) You made a good purchase, though, I love my DE 😍

  27. Is that 280fps with 0.20's? You may just have suffered the Double Eagle Cheese Spring issue. Trying slapping in a new M100 or M105 spring, and also put in a new hop rubber. That should get you back to 340-350fps, and able to lift 0.32's to a decent range. You might be happy enough with that before trying the full DMR approach, with the problems that brings (i.e sites that need a hardware change for semi-auto, rather than just programming the gun... the MED range issue... etc etc)

  29. Too many factors to consider so it's impossible to tell. Good airseal and a quality inner barrel can make a huge difference. Also, you need a rough idea regarding BB weight otherwise you are gonna end up joule creeping and they are not gonna let you to use your gun. I looked up a spring chart on ak24m and I decided to run 0.36 so I bought few different ones between M110-M140 for now. On one site your gun is perfectly fine and you go somewhere else and it's too hot on the same spring/same BB. That's why you need to able to lower your FPS. Real quick change spring system isn't that bad regarding this issue. You need a stronger motor to pull a stronger spring just keep in mind. For me an electric DMR is always a heavy stress build so it's not a bad idea to radius your GB and correct your AoE.

  30. Eh. It's a CYMA, it probably came shooting hotter than the burning rage of a thousand suns. I'd note that it's £275 to get it in your hands, in unknown condition, and that there's no username + date evidence in the single picture. It doesn't appear to have been swiped from anywhere else, and the bloke does have positive feedback, but I don't find that total price remotely tempting for a used sale.

It's very site-dependent. Some are all over it, want to see you chronoing with a fresh bulb, and will spot check you during the day - which can be a problem as temperatures rise. Some are "Eh, pistol, mate, not bothered mate." Most are in the middle and will just ask if it's green gas (on you go, even if you're running the hottest propane around), or CO2 (put a few shots through with whatever bulb you have in there). Counter-point, I wish I'd got a plastic slide Glock as my metal slide AA R17 doesn't cycle well in the cold. Don't leave it on the dash in a hot car in the middle of summer, and even those horror stories are always about what happened to a mate's cousin's hairdresser's dog-walker.

Ahoy and welcome. Buying can get addictive, you might want to pause for a bit and just play (I mean, so we all say, don't ask what we do). Good call on trying something more immersive. Even filmsim (casual milsim or themed days) knocks it up a big notch from a regular skirmish. CQB is also worth a try if you can find that locally, it's more intense.

Hey thanks for the responses, this was really helpful already. I had no idea that C02 pistols tended to fire hot, thats a big no-no for me. I'd heard that changing the canisters could be annoying and was prepared to accept that but I don't ever want to have to worry about shooting over the limit that shit is whack as fuck. I think I would like a metal pistol actually, I didn't realize the TM pistols were plastic, thats almost a bit of a shame. Will keep looking I guess, and make sure to check out the green gas pieces. As a side note, I read that green gas is basically just propane with some silicone oil mixed into it, does this mean that it could potentially be dangerous to store?

CO2 is pain in the ass because of the cartridge. When temperature rised enough your gun is gonna be too hot to use it. Also, it's totally dry there is 0 lubrication just keep it mind. It's gonna matter regarding your rubber seals. And CO2 pressure is a lot higher than green gas so internals are gonna be under a lot of strain. I think CO2 has it's own place which is winter when traditional gases can't cycle your pistol. If you're dead set on CO2 I'd look into ASG CZ-09/Shadow etc. Marui makes the best gbb pistols out of the box but they come with plastic slides and you may not like that it how it feels or sounds when you rack it. And it's not manufactured for green gas but you can put a metal slide on it anytime if you wish. Plenty of aftermarket parts. If you refer "tan SIG" as M17/M18 VFC made them and I only read bad things about it. 😕 WE made one as well but I don't know if it's any good.

A lot of CO2 pistols can be hot as well, firing over 1.14J. My advice is get a TM. Most TM pistols will be fine, both the glock 17 and HK45 are great choices when it comes to TM, so if you like those you can't really go far wrong with either.

I'd recommend a Tokyo marui, especially the hk45, fnx45, usp or a hicapa. I've owned a fair few pistols and those I've mentioned have been very well performing and reliable. If you're after a Glock the TM Glock 17 gen 4 and the Glock 19 gen 3 and 4 have a good reputation. The thing that puts me off co2 pistols is the fact you can't top them up with gas in-between games, you have to run the co2 right down before you change the cartridge which can be a bit of a faff.

It's finally ready (thanks to Negative Airsoft) - my Magpul M4 with olive drab furniture. Not based on any real world firearm, just a rifle completely done in Magpul's design language; a collection of bits and bobs I find aesthetically pleasing and to match up with the G&P Magpul receiver (manufactured back when Magpul and PTS had a partnership). Came with Magpul PTS tan furniture originally (which I might sell), but I much prefer the two toning here with olive drab over tan, as it seems a little bit more special, a bit more "military" and a bit more uncommon (to me) than tan and black. Very pleased with how it's come together (although Luke suggested that aesthetically it would be better with an EOTech). No doubt the M203 will come off after the first game. Looks cool though! And it's got a Perun, so it beeps confidently which makes me giggle every time I play with it.

Comfort and practicality needed a bit of focus So bought an easier method of carrying hydration (for me) , I don’t dig the camelback molle’d onto the back of my PC , and seeing as there is space for it inside as I had mock foam plates in it to give it shape, I got one of these. And a proper Odin speed loader. I’ve tried the clones, they just shit themselves after a couple of outings. Highly recommended..
