Macks airsoft dreamers of the week thread

Call me cynical, but when buying gats s/h I've stayed away from the likes of prefired etc, much preferring the forums such as this one, feedback systems, trading history etc all seems reassuring easy to find compared to pure selling sites, even the fact that if you have ANY concerns it's piss easy to contact other members who they've dealt with to get the skinny on them. am I the only one that sees it this way ?4 points -

Nope I'm exactly the same bud. This forum has a great community, and I have the good fortune of only receiving a great experience from either buying or selling to members here.3 points -
That reminds me I need to start selling some stuff that I've amassed over the years... I'm just waiting to unlock a life time achievement and making the Mack's cut... 🤪2 points

THE TM MWS thread
RobHedley and one other reacted to Sinistersnipe for a topic
A little covid DIY project for those who don't like rubber magpuls and want something more like these for your MWS stanag mags. You need: 3mm kydex, M3x10mm countersunk screws, saw / knife, heat gun, drill with 3mm - 5mm drills and countersink Cut the kydex into squares (I made mine 58x58mm) either using a saw or simply scoring it multiple times with a knife and snapping it Drill and countersink two holes along the center to match the screws on the base of the magazine. As the screws go into the mag at an angle it helps if you angle the countersink a bit too (as is done on the standard base plate) Unscrew the standard base plate but keep pressure on it, slide the kydex square over it, and secure both with the new longer M3 screws Heat the kydex square slowly with a heat gun, shielding the mag as much as possible (my mags all still seal afterwards... but this is is definitely not great for them) While hot, quickly tighten the screws a little more to help pull the kydex into the tabs on the base plate, then bend over the flaps. I got the tightest bend by pressing all three sides in with some wood scraps for about a minute, before then letting it cool completely with the main sides pressed in a vice... its a bit tricky to get a sharp 90 degree bend into 3mm kydex, but you can always re-heat if you're not happy with the first result Once cooled, unscrew and slide off the kydex again (keep pressure on the base plate and re-secure it with a screw...) to drill the hole for the gas fill valve. I tried drilling this hole at the start, but because the kydex warps when you heat and bend it I found it tricky to get the location right You end up with a nice 3mm ledge on the back and front of the mag which helps to get a grip on it, and the kydex adds some extra drop protection too. Not sure what the extra strain will do to the screws in the long term, but I don't imagine its that bad. Enjoy!2 points -
I'm with you on this too... forums such as this or Z1 and Arnies (not so much these days) are the only ones I know/use.. Trust the community (well most anyway)...2 points

Agree, ive only bought one gat 2nd hand from usedairsoft.co.uk and even then I travelled two hours out of my way to pick it up because without the trader history, community rep etc. Etc. I can’t part with anything over £100-£200 without buying in-person, test firing, talking with the seller etc to make sure I’m not dealing with a dreamer (The “FULLY UPGRADED” type; meaning they welded a fire selector on and threw a load of Nuprol parts in it) (This is only my opinion) but 1 in every 3 adverts on prefired, usedairsoft and such seems like a dreamer selling overpriced pea-shooters or a scammer... I know everyone has different experiences buying from different sites but unless there’s a community / forum kind-of-thing built around it, I don’t like parting with a lot of cash hoping that a seller is legitimate and not having to fight with PayPal to get a refund...1 point

Maybe I cannot see the pictures. Does it say what upgrades the Mk23 has? Because it is an ASG I think it is worth less than a TM one. If it does not seem right walk away.1 point -
If you take off the end cap and pull the bolt out you should be able to see the hop rubber and gauge if it needs replacing. Barrel cleaning can be done with a cleaning rod and some of those alcohol wipes they use before injections. Ebay and amazon have them in boxes of 100 for not much £. Youtube has a few videos, this one is ok but I would watch a few (even in foreign language) to get an over view of the process. Not too hard after the first time!1 point

its certainly a good start but I agree with the monkee that 14 a week is still in theory at least 56 adverts a month, I cant see any reason to need any more than 10 adverts a month, I've recently downsized my collection of 30 and I don't think I hit more than 10 at any point1 point -
I'll continue to reduce it on the advice of the moderation team. This was actually proposed by them a little while ago so you have them to thank and me to scorn for being too busy to action it properly.1 point

also says he's got an m100 in it, so that's one hell of an air leak. an almost textbook example of the difference between upgrading a gun and shoving a bunch of shiny bits in it hoping it'll make it shoot better.1 point -

i still can’t get over this advert in prefired... the gun should be listed as Boneyard. that thing looks and sounds like it would have been less damaged had it been in the Blitz. Let alone trying to charge more than retail for “upgrades” which let’s be honest... is just glorified damage1 point -

To be fair with the sheer amount of stuff you get with that gun, I'd probably be happy to buy it for £350. I'd spend an afternoon with some rubbing alcohol and a tooth brush, and take it back to black. Sell it again for £350 with just gun, mags and battery. Then sell the Red Dot, PEQ, Fore-grip, 2 Stocks, Torch and Grenade launcher separately. You'd probably come away £100-£120 up.1 point -
