Petition to get the UK government to relax laws on airsoft
DEF and one other reacted to BrightCandle for a topic
Well seeing as how currently I can't even see the contents of the petition I am not going to be signing anything. Other than removing the UKARA requirement what else would airsofters possibly want? To walk the streets with the RIFs in hand? For children to have access to RIFs? About the only thing I think is worth removing is the UKARA requirement from RIF purchases but honestly its a minor inconvience nothing more. You wont find me voting for children to be buying IFs and RIFs, they are dangerous if not treated with appropriate caution and frankly I think that ought to push an amount of adult supervision at all times, in the same way I think any firearm ought to involve an adult when being handled by youngsters. But the contents of the petition isn't clear (just a link to the vote, seriously you got 4 other people to sign it without seeing the wording?) so I'll wait until I can see what it is your asking for.2 points -

Shoots well, nice trigger response - Not used full auto as I only play at a SS site. However, not used it in game yet. It's very solid and well built. Quite heavy for such a small rifle Yeah, I hear you about hit and miss, however, my M60 has never missed a beat and I managed to get the rifle + mag adapter inc shipping for £190 so was happy with it.2 points -
I have had a play with one. Externals are pretty dam good. Agree the pistol grip is very cheap feeling. The one I saw had an upgraded spring in it. Nice gun. And for the money great out the box. Would I replace my TM recoil or TM GBB with one...........nope.2 points

No experience with Airlab myself, but what time did you make the order on Monday? If it was late afternoon then chances are you won't receive your good until tomorrow. Maybe give it a bit of time?2 points

Batteries and chargers pure confusion!!
Raggedy_man reacted to WatchThisSpace for a topic
I'm new to the forum! I have previously had many gas/C02 airguns in the past, however now I've decided to get back into 'airsofting' and have decided to go for my first AEG. I would really appreciate a bit of advice as I'm stumped about a few key things! I have looked at the Umarex Heckler & Koch UMP Sportsline. This is obviously a cheaper gun in comparison, however I'm unsure if I'll fully get back into it so can't justify spending over £130 at the moment. I have a few questions relating to batteries and 'smart chargers', do batteries come with a standard size connector or do some vary? As i was thinking about buying a larger power supply such as 1600. I know the UMP takes stick batteries so would the majority standard sticks work with this? Also smart chargers are doing my head in! I've contacted a few airsoft companies and none of them give me a straight answer. Which smart charger would be the best for the gun I am thinking of above, and would I need any adapters to connect the batteries? Thanks for any replies, it would help me out!! If any one could point out a better gun for around £100 - £130 including necessary accessories and two tone, that would also be appreciated!1 point -

Hi I'm Tim, I live in the uk and I have always had a fascination with airsofting and I thought that now I turned 14 I am going to start to pick up the sport. However I am having trouble finding the correct laws and airsoft retailors as every where I look says differently. Could someone please advise me a good airsoft retailer and place to play near Buckinghamshire. Also that will have games for 14 year olds. Furthermore can someone explain or attach a link about the laws of purchasing and possessing airsoft weapons and also how I am supposed to transport them without getting cornered by the police. Lastly what weapon should I consider investing in first? Please remember I live in the UK so not the same rules as the US Thanks1 point -
Actual licensing - but that would cost money, UKARA pays for and regulates itself (capitalist motivation lol) despite the fact that it is ultimately (so far at least) meaningless.1 point

Petition to get the UK government to relax laws on airsoft
Airsoft_Mr B reacted to TheGrover for a topic
You can argue that the vcra is a lar restricting airsoft, but I don't think it's particularly harsh or lenient. Perhaps there could be a formal intergration of UKARA, or a more closely managed alternative, but I don't see a problem with the system we have now, except that it only takes two months and a hundred quids worth of membership and skirmishes to let any nutter get their hands on something that could be used to facilitate violent crime like carjacking or robbery1 point -

Yes. En 166 b is plenty for airsoft, it should easily take a point blank 500fps shot. Though I would always do a couple of test shots to check, since your eyesight it your single most valuable sense.1 point -

A good pair of prescription inserts is the best airsoft purchase you'll ever make. I've spent a lot on this hobby, but nothing has improved the game for me as much as they did. Seriously reconsider your options if at all possible. That said, it's a bit trial and error. Have you tried a large paintball mask, for example? That may be a better bet as it's further off your face.1 point -

ATACS-FG boonie. Made in Ukraine by company ''Tornado''. Purchased from ''Symvolika'' shop in Lviv. A-tacs has really grown on me and it's pretty neutral and decent for casual use,the heat here is insane(Close to 40 degrees) 135 UAH, about 4 pounds sterling. Not bad1 point -

The next airsoft skirmish at Special Ops seems to be on the 6th August. I will be going along to that. I will post a picture of my loadout once I have finished it (Currently attaching my head gear into an all-in-one unit) so people can find me.1 point -
Hi Guys, Got given a few MP5's by a friend who is leaving the sport and have managed to cobble one together out of the best parts but I'm a little concerned that I've gone over the top. I keep looking at it and thinking "yeah that looks great" then 5 minutes later it's "that looks too over the top for an MP5" Opinions? Alex1 point

Watch my tracer
Colonel Kurtz reacted to Lozart for a topic
I have two. A Dytac QD one that fits my SCAR and an ASG B&T one I use on my MP5. I also have tracer mags (UV LED inside the magazine makes the BBs glow before they get into the gun) for my AK and my M4. As stated above they're really only any use in low light. If you use them in the daytime you're wasting money on batteries and higher cost ammo (although to be fair it's not a LOT more cost on ammo). Tracer mags aren't as bright as silencer type tracers but they're still bright enough in low light/darkness. Some tracers are brighter than others, some handle high rates of fire better than others. The cheap chinese ones are almost universally crap though.1 point -

Colonel Kurtz reacted to MikeMarden for a topic
If you're doing any type of low level light or night games then it's a yes. I splashed the cash on a Marui Tracer round to go with the Marui 416D, bit pricier than the norm, but i'm happy with it & worked flawlessly on a recent night skirmish.1 point -

I know exactly how you feel, I just bought my first AEG, and I ended up buying a 7.4 volt Lipo, after lots of different sites had conflicting information and the manufacturer's site was unhelpful, when it arrived it says 9.6 (non lipo) on the box. I found this helpful: youtube.com/watch?v=iTBWcBe8rJ41 point -

Personally, I am 'addicted' to putting attachments on my gun. Of course, for practicality, but also because a gun with the right attachments looks incredible - to me, anyway. Admittedly, there are those out there who like to keep their attachments to a minimum and avoid the whole tacti-cool look, but who cares about that sh*t. Have fun with your gun, and make it yours! It is, after all, your gun. If it were my gun, I would change the attachments, but that is just to suit me. I always find guns with a bunch of attachments more interesting. A general guideline though: If your gun is becoming way too heavy, or is getting difficult to practically use, then you may have one too many things on your gun. As long as you don't end up looking like the picture below, you'll be fine.1 point

Secondary
Airsoft_Mr B reacted to Baz JJ for a topic
A secondary would probably set you back £100-£130 ish with a holster etc. I would rather use the money to buy a back up or alternative primary which will be of more practical use. However sidearms are cool. Practicality over appearance ?1 point -
