  1. I'm not looking for a reason to moan, I'll be honest & say I have no interest in hpa, feels like a step backwards in airsoft when aeg's can easily achieve the required UK power levels & rate of fire commensurate with the real steel models they're copies of. BUT This forum is well known for not only freedom of speech (within reason), at its core are a lot of members commited to keeping the game going, for decades in some cases. it also pushes for a positive sensible stance to all aspects of Airsoft in all it's varieties, & keeping their availability to those who want to play. While that doesn't necessarily correlate with your weirdly biased stance on hpa, it kinda feels like giving hpa users a lower fps might actually encourage some to try to cheat the system, if for example, they're playing your site but they're playing shite, will they blame it on your lower power requirements, & then fiddle with their kit to match, or even scarily surpass those limits. Personally, if I found myself in your position & mindset, I'd be more inclined to exclude hpa entirely if I felt some couldn't be trusted to adhere to the rules. So while you may have felt this is a personal attack, it's more a criticism of the information provided & how it's provided, if that makes sense.

  2. My main ride (W650) complete with son. Note ex-girlfriends lace sided leather loon pants. I used to wear them until I stopped training martial arts for a couple of years and got bloody fat! Bike has been dynojetted, airbox cut and pipes debaffled then dyno'd for perfect mixture. Turned an 85mph constipated slug into a ton plus snorting beasty. Crap pic of my Guzzi. Same Tonti frame as the LeMans. Frame of a sportsbike, engine that's agricultural folk art. Wanted one ever since I rode a friends new one back in the mid 90s. Mrs TPH likes this one. With a little bit of help from a bloody great iron bar it sounds like a Lancaster bomber. It makes hum the CHiPs theme tune as you ride it. Old pic of my XS 'Zig-Zag Wanderer' after the Beefheart song. I'd bought some 7/8" ss tube to make handlebars with, but booze said, 'Nah, you need a sissy bar.' Still have it. It now has open shotgun pipes and is Daytona yellow. My bike for hot dry days. 0-100 in 7.2... My Dad bought this for himself for his 70th. He has something more sedate now - Honda 750 Hornet. I've a few more in bits and the lad already has four including a GSX250R. I think they breed in the garage tbh. Looking to buy an Enfield to chop. I want another hardtail. Looking at an 883 on Saturday. It's A2 license friendly and #1 son can slow down a bit and have something comfy for his girlfriend to sit on. I'll not put the patched up pics online, but bikes have been a massive part of my life for years. Despatch rider for a while, lived in a shared house with clubmates. Still get together once a month to scare polite society.

  4. Not the forum to discuss in depth but any reason to not just buy an air rifle if you're taking it to am airgun range? I have both Airsoft and air rifles, the accuracy of any airsoft gun pales in comparison.

  9. Just after I started playing so maybe 19 had to catch a train as no car or lift, some rando asked what instrument I was carrying in my bag (M16A2) had to bullshit about being a musician for 10 minutes because I didn't want to have to explain airsoft and too timid/polite to tell him to bugger off.

  10. Bingo! A lot of people today seem to be divorced from a self-preservation instinct or reality. Even when I was a teenager playing airsoft, I understood the sheer stupidity of open carry of realistic looking weapons because of how quickly and tragically it can escalate. Just to think the OP struggled to understand why so many in this thread voiced strong opinions about Just-Cos' legitimacy. That some cosplayers lack self-awareness of their own and the public's safety with open carry vindicates those opinions.

  14. Unfortunately, most people don't understand what joule creep is, how FPS and joule output actually relate, or even what voluming is. 'Tis unfortunately likely that the folks running the field know very little about the mechanics of the RIFs themselves, regardless of how well they run the site. At my local field, I'm perhaps the only player who understands the basics of airsoft mechanics. The refs are well-meaning but clueless. When applicable I try to explain things to help educate folks, but it matters not. To put it very, very simply; joule output on a certain BB weight is exactly the same regardless of the propellant. As soon as the BB leaves the barrel, HPA is indistinguishable from AEG or GBBR or even spring. Different BB weights do affect how much power is transferred to the target as heavier weights retain more velocity over distance. Lowering the limit for a certain propulsion method does not level the playing field in any way. As long as the rules are abided by, why does it matter what he wants to do? Besides, without knowing the BB weight and distance it's impossible to actually know how much force will be transferred. Set an MED and a joule limit and stick with it!

As @Duff Beerhas said really. I've got a full face helmet but don't use it because I can't aim down sight or get gun comfortably in my shoulder. Even with a high riser on my gun it's still not easy sighting. Plus it's bloody heavy,so is the helmet come to think of it 😂

It’s not my vibe, but to each their own. I do have some concerns though: I can’t see a proper safety rating on the glasses. For me that’s an immediate non starter. The cost is pretty hectic, and for me if I was spending that kind of cash I’d buy another PTS Flux or something equally Gucci. I’d really struggle to get my head behind the sights, and to get a decent cheek weld. Even with a high riser on the sight I don’t think it’d be workable for me. Although the inbuilt fan is supposed to be silent, I wonder if it actually would be and how effective it will be. That looks like a sweaty time. The safety aspect is the most pressing, and I’d investigate that further, but the rest is up to you!

    Well PPK-20 GBBR

It seems forever ago that Hephaestus teased a GBB PP-19 Vityaz with no further evidence it would actually get released. Well has decided to pick up an alternative Russian SMG and is releasing a PPK-20 in AEG and GBBR which is pretty cool. I'm not too sure how Well will be able to pull off a GBB like this but maybe their Well "Pro" line is up to it. - ambi safety - 40 rd mags - claims to be MWS gas system Also some more mad minguns including a Nemesis style one, AK-12 AEG https://youtu.be/-phQTg5f7QA?si=sAxqKhEJe32KLos7

  20. No, it doesn’t The 4 + 13 events that I referenced for this year are comicons, steam punk shows (cosplay with a higher average age) and alt cons (alternative people) I don’t go as a paying customer/public, I’m not a member of a cosplay society, but I go as a trader. Existing PLI that I’m under could exclude anything odd A personal liability insurance for dressing up, carrying equipment / props might have actually been appropriate But it doesn’t insure me, and there is no such thing as a cosplay defence for RIFs In the other recent thread a different member of the forum signed up to Just-Cos to buy a RIF - the shop required him to send a photo playing airsoft which is what they will have used as a defence ( Note that I don’t even need a defence to buy airsoft RIFs - I don’t play airsoft, but I do run paintball & airsoft events)

  22. I can add to Lord_Poncho's comment about the WELL MB01 I got one to try out as it was cheap and wanted to try a boltie just in the garden. I was lucky enough to get a relatively good one. It shoots almost exactly 450fps(0.2g) stock and is accurate enough to reliably hit a tin can at 15m which is the max distance I can shoot in my garden. (I use 0.3g BBs) Haven't tried it in an actual game but for a bit of plinking fun its quite satisfying. (Tip: Pull the bolt as close to the body as possible to avoid too much side torque) BUT if you're after accuracy then stick to air rifles as airsoft is nowhere near as accurate.

  24. Sorry, i'm not going to have time to give you anything comprehensive - but it is the rear of the piston that i filed off, not the sear itself (which could weaken it). Just a few mm was enough for me. But note that it may be a different cause in your case - it would be interesting to compare the length of your original piston with the replacement one first.

  28. 1) Go to the Just-Cos website and read the meaningless page: https://www.just-cos.co.uk Just-Cos is a membership based insurance policy. We approached them with a view to covering CosPlayers with Public Liability insurance in their right as a re-enactor to wear and carry costume articles that may prove alarming or ‘scary’ to third parties who may not understand our purpose. This policy particularly covers the right to carry imitation weaponry that could otherwise be mistaken as real or mistakenly reported as an offensive weapon. In today’s ‘Americanised’ legal system of ‘No claim no fee’ companies and similar ambulance chasers, it is now more important than ever to be protected by insurance. It’s better to be safe than sorry, right? Just-Cos is exactly that: It’s just for us CosPlayers. You can join up for a small annual fee of £20, that’s it. For your £20 you will receive £5 million maximum claim cover against public liability. It’s quite unlikely that you’ll ever need to use it and we sincerely hope you don’t! That is not all though. With membership we have power! We can use our strength in numbers to apply for discounts and other awesome deals on behalf of the club. This is just the beginning and it’s your chance to be part of it. America is irrelevant, you can’t claim for seeing something scarey in the UK (other than being put into genuine fear) and you can’t but a ‘right’ to carry a RIF You can have good reason to transport one - eg going to / from an event What is relevant is you could be held liable for injury / damage to property - and liability insurance can be handy to have (not essential for individuals) 2) Sign up to Just-Cos As you create a user name and password you gain access to their member area. I received my notification email whilst going to the payment page (so I stopped to check if policy details were there - they were not) 3) Pay £20 by card or PayPal (I used PayPal) You then gain access to policy documents in the members area 4) What does the policy say? Insurance Company = Zurich Insurance Ltd Our Reference: xxxxxxxxx Name of Insured: Just-Cos This is to confirm that Just-Cos have in force with this Company until the policy expiry on 17 May 2024 insurance incorporating the following essential features: Policy Number: xxxxxxxx Renewal Date: 18 May 2024 Limits of Indemnity: Public Liability: £5,000,000 any one event Products Liability: £5,000,000 for all claims in the aggregate during any one period of insurance Pollution Liability: As per Products Liability Professional Services Extension: £1,000,000 any one event Note: Cover for Financial Loss, and Third Party Property Damage or Bodily Injury is provided where arising from advice or services carried out by the Insured in the furtherance of its purpose as a registered charity or not-for-profit organisation. Excess: Public Liability: Nil any one claim Products Liability: Nil any one claim Pollution Liability: Nil any one claim Professional Services Extension: Nil any one claim Indemnity to Principals: Covers include a standard Indemnity to Principals Clause in respect of contractual obligations. Full Policy: The policy documents should be referred to for details of full cover. What does that mean? The policy insures Just-Cos. That’s OK, as I’ve joined Just-Cos The £5m cover isn’t mine. It’s £5m public liability per event. So if just me then I can be covered up to £5m, but elsewhere there are 100 to 500 members per event, rendering the cover to between £10k and £50k each Another document is enclosed, which tells us that Just-Cos run 4 cinema trips and attend 4 events per year Therefore as a member the insurance above covers Just-Cos and the members attending those 4 trips & 4 events There is a newsletter subscription in the account details, so presumably I would be notified of the trips & events - but that’s no good to me for the cosplay events I attend unless Just-Cos align with them As a new member I have not been provided the code of conduct (but it may follow in a newsletter etc) Your organisation type: You are a not for profit group. Your aim: Describes our understanding of your organisation and its aim. To promote social interaction between members by using Cosplay. Your principal activities and services: This details your activities and services. Where and tow oen ese lake place. • You organise around 4 cinema trips a year at screenings which are open to the public. These will average around 6 around 20 At arenio, mentio bute group may. dress up to watch the film if they wish, however this is optional as the main purpose is to view the film. • You will attend around 4 third party events throughout the year and can get between 100 - 500 people from the organisation attending each one. These will mainly be Cosplay conventions and involve members of the group carrying replica weapons whilst interacting with other members of the group and members of the public. • You will charge a membership fee which will predominantly be used to create a Database. This will also help grow your organisation and fund towards future activities. Your current Risk Management: Provides details of your organisations risk management provisions for each service and activity You will comply with all local and national laws for transporting replica firearms and weapons. and wilpons are in vil of re puaional laws when replica frearms. You will comply with all third party regulations. You complete written risk assessments. Inductions are given to all new members regarding the organisation's code of conduct. You have a written safeguarding process in place. Your structure You have at least three trustees. Previous claims New organisation so no previous claims. Currently the policy does not relate to the public web page, and does not insure members other than as part of a Just-Cos group attended event - the cover is for the groups liabilty as a result of its ‘advice’ / ‘services’ I don’t give advice on behalf of Just-Cos, I won’t be providing services as Just-Cos Where I do provide advice and/or services it is part of other organisations / groups / as an event organiser - which do not fall within this insurance I could make use of the peace of mind of public liability insurance to cover my personal liability in activities I participate in - At comicons for example I am covered as staff / volunteer in events and with traders, but not for any actions should I choose to Cosplay beyond the scope of staff / volunteer This sums up as a mis-sold policy, not fit for purpose

  31. In public? It is. Sorry to bang on about it, but this is a far bigger concern for us than obtaining a RIF. https://www.legislation.gov.uk/ukpga/1968/27/section/19 19 Carrying firearm in a public place. A person commits an offence if, without lawful authority or reasonable excuse (the proof whereof lies on him) he has with him in a public place [...] an imitation firearm. Realistic or otherwise. See this conviction for possession of a £4 bright orange springer pistol which even the prosecution described as a toy. The Sheriff set the bar for "reasonable excuse" very low, for example "children playing cowboys and Indians", which would presumably cover our infantile antics, but the proof whereof lies with us. Whether having a RIF/IF inside your car counts as having it in a public place is less obviously clear, but coppers think that it is. PACE 1984 Section 1 makes a distinction between a vehicle that's in a public place versus the grounds of a dwelling, which implies that the vehicle itself does not create a private place in public. In this case, for example, a chap (who comes across as a prize wanker) was arrested and charged for having a baton in his car. I can't find details of how the case went - some commenters suggest that he was acquitted - but the process is enough of a punishment. tl;dr version - yes, it's illegal, and we have to prove otherwise. I keep details of the site to hand, and ideally booking emails, when travelling to or from it.

  33. A long time ago (In a galaxy far away), I purchased AFRA ("All Fronts Re-enactment Association") which gave me a physical card with my face, DOB etc on it. Many retailers allowed this to be used as a valid defence to purchase a RIF (Including, for example, patrol base). In fact, I used this when I purchased my first "proper" (As in, not to be used for reenactment/display) G&G M4 before I had even got a UKARA. Their set up was very similar to JustCos in the way the insurance worked. I don't recall needing to supply any evidence of being in a reenactment group either, they just took my money and sent a card and away I went. Much like JustCos, anybody could purchase it. I remember at the time, there was a LOT of "if's and buts" regarding the actual liability insurance. From the reenactor side, being able to purchase a defence to buy RIF be it BF or Airsoft it's great. From the airsoft side, being able to buy a defence to buy a RIF - Not so much. Quite a contradiction, I know but unfortunately airsoft is more threatened than the buying of BFer's. In an ideal world, everybody would follow the rules and behave themselves but that's never ever going to happen 😂

  37. Purchased a Snugpak Jungle Blanket for chilly Airsoft events and hill walking where a sleeping bag would be a bit much. It’s basically a big square of sleeping bag material with a weather resistant side. All for the very reasonable sum of sub £30, and stuffs down into a small compression sack. My plan will be to keep it in the bottom of my day sack or patrol pack. I’ve yet to use it at an event but I have tested it on a night shift at work and can confirm it was warm and big enough to cover me. (Not my photo as it’s currently in my work bag 😂)

    Is all fps Equal?

Without hop a BB will hit the ground after half a second unless you lob it. Velocity is lost fastest at higher values. 1.14J on a .2 falls to the ground after 100ft, with hop 165ft. A .3 will travel another 10ft hopped. The main advantage for hop and BB mass is the longer time with a small drop, a .2 dropping a foot after 60ft unhopped and nearly 135ft hopped. A .3 will get another 10ft. Also a heavier BB arrives at its target sooner past 60ft.
