  1. One rule for everyone, no exceptions. A member who only comes on the forum to sell stuff should not be given preference over a member who actually engages with the forum but sells infrequently. Single tier, simple.

  3. There's been a few cases of members getting hacked & subsequently locked out of accounts, not many thankfully but enough to show it's a "thing", if that were to happen to a member with high feedback whos exempt from pics, what's to stop the hacker throwing up a few competively priced ads in the hope of a fast turnaround ?

  10. ,I was around 16 stone few years ago and over the years it been hard to shift the weight, I started running so I when airsoft with my son I could keep up and have fun without dying from exhaustion. So, over this year I have been running more and more, I started out slow from couch to 5K and in June I did my first race for life 10k event its so good getting across the finish line. I can now run the 10k distance without stopping and my current weight dropped to 13.4 stone at age 40 right now. Thanks.

I've had a chat with Luke over at negative airsoft about this and he's explained how even if the delivery van ran over a mine and exploded or if the driver got a change of heart and decided to take your pew and become a nomad in the woods they'd find a way to weasel out of the cover, it's just completely pointless and a waste of money really

  21. De jure, it's a defence to the offence, not a licence to import. Although they do - de facto - choose to treat it as though it were. That's tucked away in the small print of a document (IIRC) relating to ferries from Ireland.

  24. As @-davo- posted rifs aren't covered by the extra insurance so I didn't include it and as said rif is being shipped in its original box the only extra packaging material needed is something to cover up the outside
    1 point
  25. Personally i always factor shipping costs into my asking price but £20 is not unreasonable. depending on size and weight parcel force 48 can run £13/14 and you can easily spend another £7/8 on packing materials.

  28. Thanks for your reply buddy, don't get me wrong I like how it looks and how well built it is and also it's "different". I wanted something that was feasible for CQB and skirmish, my idea being I could switch the barrels (inner, outer + handguard) dependant on circumstance. Your comment makes me think that it's a bad idea full stop. I'm a practical person that's why I want a shorter rifle for CQB. But I'd rather not wreck it, by slapping on something that's going to fit poorly I'll keep this as my multi-purpose rifle and get a purpose built CQB rifle later

  31. I've been through this several times, the last one was just last week. You've already been given the advice you need, but I thought I would add to this thread... They can absolutely seize it under Section 36 of VCR Act: "(7) A realistic imitation firearm brought into Great Britain shall be liable to forfeiture under the customs and excise Acts." The defences in Section 37 apply when you are charged with an offence, which Border Force aren't doing. In reality they will release it to you provided you have a defence, at least they have in all of my seizures going back 10+ years. The letter does cover it, but if it isn't clear, you want "Restoration". Write to them at the address provided, make sure your name and address is on the letter, provide them with your defence, IE, UKARA number and the site you play at. They have access to UKARA, which makes me think maybe it wasn't on the box, or wasn't clear. I would also advise to add your email on it to and ask them to contact you that way if there are any further issues, you don't want to be going back and forth by post. You also have to provide an invoice or receipt of the goods, again this should have your name and address on. Failing that, Border Force do take bribes; Send them a box of Ferraro Rochettes and all your problems will be solved. Good luck.

  34. I've been through this before. You will need to contact the officer mentioned in the letter and provide your UKARA details, the Public Liability Certificate of the UKARA site and they will also want to see how much you paid for the item which is sometimes different from the invoice attached to the front of the parcel.

  35. I had an air pistol seized. It was common practice by many to buy airguns from Europe at the time, they were cheaper and could be delivered to your door. I was a firearms club member and had a UKARA membership. BF though, declared it a RIF. Luckily as it was weeks until I heard anything, I and the store in Portugal thought it was lost and they had refunded me. I found Border Force totally useless to deal with. I had 3 visits from the police, they kept on visiting as they weren’t recording the information I gave them. In the end complained to the Chief Constable who put a local D.I on the case and I ended up getting a letter of apology from the police and no black mark against my name. Border Force are supposed to assign a member of staff to deal with you personally, they didn’t. You only get one phone number and they pass messages to the office that seized the item apparently. I contacted my local MP and made her aware that the airgun was classed as a low powered firearm under the 1968 act, and as such could not be a RIF. I made her aware that it was perfectly legal, and my legal status. Her office made contact with BF and insisted that the manager of the seizing office contact me. He did, very, very begrudgingly, he confirmed it was a .177 air pistol but added that BF were completely entitled to class any gun as a RIF, and did not recognise my UKARA membership as a entitlement to import. The pistol was destroyed, despite my request for them to return it to the sender. As I documented the whole case on the airgun forum I had a number of people contact me for advice. BF were seizing target pistols even spring air rifles and classing them as RIF’s. For me at the time,( I don’t know if it’s now improved), Border Force were a complete law unto themselves, classing any gun they stopped as a RIF, and totally ignoring the persons right to buy through proper defences. I wish you well, keep fighting them, but if it ends up in court it can be very expensive, win or loose.

  36. Due to the increase in scammers, and to add better protection for buyers, any sale or swap advert in the Classifieds must include one photo with your AFUK username and a date. Effective from 01 December 2024. Below is the updated rule 5: All sales and swaps advertisements must have a picture, all pictures must be taken by the seller. Do not use a retailers pictures - take your own. There must be at least one photo with a piece of paper showing your AFUK forum name and date next to the item(s) for sale/swap (this updated rule is effective from 01/12/2024). Do not use Photoshop or other editing software to include your username and date, this is what scammers do and will result in adverts being deleted from the Classifieds. Using photos with different usernames from other forums, and links to other forum photos, is no longer acceptable.

    Border Force seized RIF

Go through the points one by one. It’s probably the VCRA skirmisher defence, so check through all the points that they have referenced, reply covering them complete with your UKARA details (check they match the address in case of any changes and/or typos) and be prepared to have it decided in court VCRA Section 36.7 It is a RIF You have a defence with UKARA membership https://www.legislation.gov.uk/ukpga/2006/38/section/36 VCRA Section 39.7 Refers to VCRA 39.6 and customs and excise act section 1 39.6 is with regard to the specifications of an IF (Eg If you didn’t have a VCRA RIF defence then you could have import an IF at >50% defined bright colours etc. (perhaps it has been checked to be overpowered for the UK, but the section references IFs) https://www.legislation.gov.uk/ukpga/2006/38/section/39 https://www.legislation.gov.uk/ukpga/1979/2/section/1 The other points refer to the various pieces of legislation. You should look them up but the key points will be: 1)VCRA RIF defence - your UKARA membership, plus be prepared to document your intention to continue to play airsoft skirmishing at insured sites 2)IF non compliance - should be covered by your RUF defence 3)Sender may not have correctly declared contents Be prepared to say to the court “Oh dear, that was very silly of them. I’m a responsible player and had intended to conduct a fully legal and open import, giving my UKARA details to the retailer 4)They have sent a non compliant RIF overpowered for the UK (only a guess on potential reasons) If so you’re either screwed or can go for the “It should have been supplied with UK compliant settings which can be arranged via x tech support in the UK

  40. Some folks were curious as to how I did it, so here is a how to :). Materials I used: S&T Spring Remington 870 35mmx20mm steel box section. I used 3mm thick stock. Random barrel mount from an M203 3 M6 x 10 countersunk machine screws 2 M6 x 25 countersunk machine screws 5 x m6 nylon bolt and washers. Tools used : Kentucky Measure (eyes) Pillar Drill, Hand and bench grinder, Various Vices, Vernier Caliper, Dremel, Hand files Tap & Die, Permanent marker, Club hammer, 45mm diameter steel pipe, Ignorance. 3ml of my own blood. Tools I should of also used : Centre punch, Tape measure, THE RULER ON MY VERNIER CALIPERS. Firstly, I obtained some source material from the Google. and then placed my rifle, barrel mount, steel box section, and destocked shotgun on the bench. After about 20 minutes of staring at it, making thoughtful noises, looking at the source material, I decided to make a start. Let's start with the big issue. The shotgun. The S&T 870s are single shot pump actions based on the Maruzen CA870, much like the G&P Wingmaster line... so much like it's identical. I mean, carbon copy identical. However, the S&T is not a smooth action out of the box. It's got sticky points and notches everywhere, the action over-extends causing the right side pump arm to disengage and jam, and lubricant was clearly lacking. Dealing with the action was a simple strip and clean, cleaning up any burrs on edges, or casting lines (of which, there were many!) in the areas where friction is a thing, cleaning up the edges of both pump arms with a file, and finally a polish of the metal surfaces where the pump arms slide in the rails of the cast chassis. I also took the time to modify the inner barrel and hop chamber, it now runs a VSR bucking. After reassembling, it's as silky smooth and easy to rack as my old G&P, and can lift a .32 with ease. So it's definitely suitable to mount. Action still over extending though - we will come back to this. The receiver shell ended up straight on the Pillar Drill for mounting holes. I ended up drilling and countersinking a total of 5 holes. 2 for the barrel mount, and 3 to spread the rest of the shotguns mass along the chassis. All 5 holes and fittings are not pictured as it was done at the end of the process. The rearward machine screw corrospondes to the barrel mounts rear screw orifice. Front hole countersink was done with an unusual but required approach. Onto the receiver chassis! more marker pen followed by using the Vernier calipers to edge my 'measurement', and off to the vice and grinder! First, off with stock fitment followed by material from the top of the chassis to make space for the machine screw heads. Despite the countersinking in the reciever shell, I also wanted to fit a steel insert between the chassis and shell with holes and countersinks to mate to the reciever shells, again to spread the load as evenly as possible. So accounted for this during loud grindy times with a medium grit bench grinder. Always wear eye protection!! Due to how the chassis fits into the reciever shell, the 'bump' at the rear needed to be ground down further towards the back end than i had initially done. So a bit of trial and fit and trial and fit was in order, made worse by my choice to reinforce the fitment with the steel insert. Minor adjustments made with more permanent marker and a dremel. Once enough material had been removed the chassis snugly slides in and out of the shell as it should, with no excess play, with the steel plate and machine screws in place. (This was the point the 5th fitment was decided upon, but this was a 20 second job and worth doing!). Now, those who are still with us - the mounting rail!! Let's start with cutting out material for the barrel mount. Permanent marker and Verniers to action, marked and etched, followed by a disgustingly convenient find of a jig from an old project that needed zero adjustment to achieve both cuts - it was meant to be! A quick clean up of the edges with a file followed by some tappy taps with the hammer to profile those edges in toward the mount slightly. After offering up the mounts chassis I marked the locations of handgaurd cap, bayonet lug, and sling swivel, and transfered those marks using a square, making sure to account for the rearward fitting motion of the mount as I wasn't bothering cutting out the top of the chassis on my first attempt making one. mock fitting prior to the Great Ignorant Beating, as wecan see, shotgun reciever has a curve. My box section does not. Long story short, dismantled the assembly, made a holding jig, and a spacing /centering jig, placed the rail in the holding jig, then on goes the centering jig, filled with a steel pipe with a 45mm diameter. I proceeded to smash the b***ocks out of it with a club hammer until I had achieved the desired profile. - this is something I'll do differently come the MK2 version ? Finally, drilling the holes in the chassis rail to corrospond with the shotguns reciever holes. Chassis fitments holes were tapped, and then everything cleaned in prep for a good application of hammering in a can. Once dry , the reciever shell was fitted to the rail and barrel mount. Washers and nylon thread nuts applied. Cutting down the barrel and ammo tube is pretty self explanatory. But the pump needed cutting down and a new recess cut out at the front for the ammo tube support ring. By combining my brain and my hands I was able to feel out the exact moment the action was at full forward extension without over extending. I marked the required location of the ammo tube support on the outer barrel, drilled and tapped fitment holes I then modified the pump handle accordingly, removing just right amount of material to allow the action to be tighter then a really tight thing with a tight schedule on a busy day. No more over extension of the action as its not physically possible without smashing the ammo tube support off (or proper dismantling procedure). I will soon begin a mk 2 chassis, where I actually use a tape measure, get the internal curvature done in a proper manner, and open the chassis rails top surface up to make it lighter, as well as get access to the shotguns hop unit ? In my defence I was excited and impatient. Thanks for reading. Enjoy. G&P Prime M653 GBB G&P M4A1 Prime GBB

  42. Hello all, received a letter from border force. Would appear mine is one that’s been caught in red tape and has subsequently been ‘seized’. Import from Hong Kong. The letter states I can appeal this in writing and by seeking my own legal representation, however other than simply stating that yes it is a RIF and I intend to use it for Airsoft purposes I’m not entirely sure what they’re asking for. I appreciate putting a UKARA on the box, however that doesn’t really seem to mean anything. if anyone has had a similar issue and happy to advise it would be much appreciated.
