  1. Let's see of this will work now.... Some pics of my loot... Two posters, which I then got autographed and authenticated. Now I just need to get them framed... Almost everyone signed in black, but had a laugh with David Hewlett who asked what colour I would like his autograph done in, and I said I would leave it up to him to choose... so he went with gold and joked that it was in character for Rodney. Some screen-used props with certificates of authenticity... Group photo from Saturday with all the cast and me in SG1 gear (and my Tokyo Marui P90, then solo photo with Joe Flanigan from Sunday when I was in my "what if" cosplay And finally some pics of me posing in front of the stargate props on Sunday in my "what if" outfit. Unfortunately I didn't gey a chance to pose on Saturday in my SG1 outfit due to crowds and the significant delays with the autograph lines, which I'm pretty annoyed about, but oh well.... Ah, we did meet briefly on the Friday, and I did look at the collector cards, and I was tempted. It's very possible I was the guy you thought... I was wearing a Sabaton t-shirt and was weighed down with several bags containing mead I had bought that day as I was heading back to the car. Lol. Luck you XD Yep... =P

    What have you made?

A while ago at a airsoft site near me,I found 2 used 6 bang training device grenades probably from some police or military training, my original plan was to keep them as paper weights as they are inert, my thoughts then went to, how easy it would be to make them useful again and looking at the mechanism I fiddled on with re drilling the old primer and fuse out and tried a new primer and what was basically useless. I then looked at my bfg (dynatex dominator) to understand how it worked and then the plan changed. To make them into a blank firing grenade, I drew a mock up for a bolt/ firing pin with basically a ball on the end for the impact part. I went to my local hardware store for some bits and cost £4.50, got to work assembling and drilling a whole for the safety pin to go all the way through so the firing pin can not touch the 209 primer even when dropped, firing only occurs when safety is pulled out and grenade is thrown to the ground where it’s hits the rubbed door stop connected to the firing pin and thus detonating.

  6. Something interesting is that bargain basement Chinese motor manufacturer Chaoli is also now selling brushless motors. Maybe this is one for @ak2m4 but I'm assuming, like a lot of electronics, there may only be a few genuine manufacturers of brushless motors and a lot of what we see is from the same sources with different branding applied? (the products from many vendors look identical, just with different colour anodising / logo's applied).

  7. haha thanks, theirs are pretty good from the specs I've seen but £50 more for the product and then £31 for shipping (then add on the tax). I'd like to order one up and try it out but the cost is crippling.

As Tackle said above, too many times scammers pop onto the forums having just joined and offer up rare and exotic replicas that they just happen to have laying around. One is on my wish list, but sadly not just now I look forward to pics to drool over though and don’t for get to @GBBRLOVR when you do

  14. Just felt motivated to give these guys a mention - so very impressed. I picked up a rather knackered Mancraft PDIK off the classifieds here some months back as part of an old rifle, discovered that it leaked air badly when connected up, and after fiddling around with replacing the seals, realised that the problem was a part which had a deep scratch within it. Long story short, after contacting them to enquire if I could purchase that replacement part, they sent me 90% of a brand new PDIK rather than just the offending element- essentially for the cost of the postage. That is amazing service, and it turns out that the 'life time' warranty on the Mancraft PDIKs is something that they genuinely honour....

  15. Also dressed up as SG1 on Saturday, but then because the Atlantis costume i ordered got stuck in customs, on the sunday i did an alt universe "what if?" Cosplay to represent what it could look like if the stargate was never sent to the US, and SG1 were British Commandos instead. Both outfits were complimented by some of my airsoft RIFs.... and before anyone makes a fuss, they were all disarmed and unloaded, I checked with the head of security and 2 of the con supervisors on the Friday, who all gave the OK after i explained exactly what i wanted to do and use them for, then checked in with security saturday and sunday to demonstrate they were safe and unloaded, and then made a concious effort to stay inside the venue and away from any window or door that faced outside of the hotel where the con was held. Unfortunately the same could not be said of a couple of other cosplayers, who aparrantly decided to leave the lobby of the hotel with their cosplay weapons on them and walk up the entrance road to a little compound containing a bunch of vendors in marquees... and got spotted by Joe public who phoned police and resulted in an armed unit arriving at the con, and said cosplayers being asked to leave by security after the armed response was stood down.... but as I stayed well out of sight I only heard about this through second-hand information and did not witness it directly. Also got complimented by head of security at the end of Sunday for being concious enough to check in with them each day, and thanked for being sensible where others had not been. But back to the con itself... Friday was pretty quiet, with not much going on, so I was able to mooch around the vendors in all areas (dressed in t-shirt and jeans) to get my spending out the way early. I bought a few screen used props, including a "one line schedule" for the very first episode that was signed by the late Don S Davies (General Hammond). Saturday turned into quite a shitshow in the autograph area. Queues were initially separated into day pass holders, who had to line up through a barrier maze like at airport security, while accessibility and VIP pass holders (like myself) lined up around the outside of them to get priority access... but then more day pass holders were let through ahead of VIP passes, people opened up barriers in the zig-zag to jump the line, and then there was a traffic jam where no one moved for almost an hour... byvwhichbtime some of the stars had to leave for other scheduled events such as photo ops and meet-and-greets, so many, many people were getting very angry at missing out.. and even some of the stars were getting pretty annoyed (in particular, i overheard David Hewlett aka Rodney McKay getting rather annoyed). Somehow I managed to get all but 4 autographs on my stargate posters on Saturday, but missed out on one of the stargate stage panel Q&A sessions. Have to take my hat off to Richard Dean Anderson though, he was signing late in the day, and made it clear to staff he was not leaving until everyone in the line waiting had got his autograph.... I heard he was still signing at 10pm... and then he did the same again on Sunday as they were beginning to dismantle the convention around him (other stars did similar things, but RDA went above and beyond in my view) At the end of the evening I hung around the after party, which included a set DJ'ed by Kristian Nairn who was also one of thebguests for "Our Flag Maens Death", another group that was being hosted by the convention. Other bonus points from Saturday.. 1. I sat down for the "ultimate stargate photo" with all the stars, sat between RDA and Jason Momoa... and both complimented me on my costume. And when I pointed out it was a last minute purchase as the original I had ordered got stained when I spilled bleach on it by accident, RDA said he still loved it. 2. I got a hug off Amanda Tapping (Samantha Carter).... a brief one, but a hug none the less 3. Due to the traffic jam in the autograph line, I got to have a brief and nerdy chat with Joe Flanigan (Col. John Sheppard) about WW2 fighter aircraft. He had initially mis-spoke and called the P90 I was carrying a P40, but then corrected and wondered aloud why he was thinking of the P40... and so our little chat began, but only for a couple of minutes before the line moved on 4. Brad wright (The shows creator) saw my TM P90 and joked how intimidating I looked, and how realistic it looked. After I told him it was an airsoft replica, I passed it to him to look at, and he fiddled with it for a moment and held it in the aim before handing it back to me and saying "very nice". By that point my brain was too fried from the heat, and I seriously regret not asking for a pic of him holding it... but such is life Sunday ran a whole lot better, as the staff had Rearranged the queuing barriers in the signing area so people had to line up for each table, split into two lines for day pass and VIPs at each table, and a staff member on each line controlling the flow, rather than Saturdays effort of "everyone starts with one star and then moves down the row of tables one by one..." but with onlyvone person trying to manage all the crowd at once. Managed to get the last few autographs, and also a photo op with Joe Flanigan and a meet-and-greet with David Nykl (Doctor Zelenka), before catching the massive stargate panel tonwrap up the day. Over the course of the event, I had many people asking me about the costume, particularly my airsoft weapons, and so I was happy to answer their questions and talk about airsoft, and I even had 3 people say they had never heard of airsoft before, but would be looking into trying it out if they had a local field. i also had several people ask for a picture and I even had one person doing a university PHD study want to interview me for part of his thesis about how roleplay in Cosplay and LARP can be "commodified or assist in exercising political awareness in fan spaces" and they had not considered airsoft, so would like to get my take on it from an airsoft, rather than a cosplay perspective. All in all, the positives outweighed the negatives, but I will be cautious about attending the basingstoke comic-con next year, especially if they get as many huge stars in one place at the same time, as it made for an extremely busy and sometimes chaotic event.

  19. Made the hour and a bit trip down to gunman airsoft for a change of scene as the local site staff had all upped and buggered off to ibiza. It was only my second visit in a year to gunman and as usual it was a well run day and they made sure to take breaks, encourage people to drink and provide water if necessary. From my own point of view it was a great day. we played the woodland side in the morning and switched to the buildings/open area side for the afternoon. games flowed well and for a change i was on a team not getting rolled into oblivion. We had a guy named Nel (firefighter) who was trying to organise and encourage some great team play and that makes a huge difference, especially on a regular skirmish day. Add in finally my wolverine mtw decided to perform as i hoped it would and the combination off ess crossbows, valhalla gasket and ex fog unit provided a rare fog free day (may they continue). So a happy airsoft sunday for a change.

    which GBB MP5 is best?

I owned a WE apache for a good while and it was superb. I then fitted a maple leaf barrel and nub and by god, it was accurate! Was one of my regrets now having got rid of it, but i was low on cash. Just seen Taiwangun had the SD on offer so bought another..this time ill keep it no matter what.

  21. I have no experience with their online or communications services, however, I thought I'd visit them a few weeks ago for the first time and I wasn't particularly impressed. Their physical shop is nice and they seem to stock the newest and coolest goodies. But that's as far as it goes really. None of their RIF's have price tags, which I suppose is understandable given their "comparison price" ethic, but it'd still be nice to get a ballpark estimation of the price there and then rather than walking back and fourth asking for assistance. Their staff is ultra lousy, I was asking about the price of a RIF and the guy at the till corner seemed to half-ignore me and was more keen on talking to his co-worker about some other rubbish. They also have a tendency to completely ignore any phone rings (I counted 3), even when not pre-occupied with something else so that may explain why no one gets answers and finally they don't really seem to know what they're talking about... naturally. Whilst I still did walk away with a VFC Glock 19 £30 off retail price, it wasn't a very interesting visit (and also since it has a connected site, when the players wander round at lunch it REEKS of the classic airsofter BO). Hey-ho, it was only 1 visit so it could be completely different next time I may consider going but it wasn't the greatest first impression.

  32. I recommend a paddle at Portobello beach... it'll put hairs on your chest.;) In all seriousness tho, visit the Royal Armouries in Leeds, Glencoe is a good shout & if you go that far then go further and visit Fort George near Inverness, it only has a small museum but the scale of the fort & engineering involved is incredible (only visit if you're going to be nearby tho). Lots of things to see in Scotland but you'll spend a lot of time just driving to see them.

This time its £450 for the gun, some odd attachments and 3 Barely Functional magazines!!!! What a steal! And I'm not even going to get into the fact this poor gun was seemingly being run on black gas the whole time, so the internals that aren't already broken are probably screaming for the Emperor's Mercy.

    Bespoke Airsoft - Loudwater

Personally, I'd tell them not to worry, your expected to pay for it due to their probably illegal approach to the consumer rights act, you'll collect it & pass it on to a reputable tech who'll sort it properly in a timely fashion & provide you with a report which you'll pass on to the manufacturer, along with a full timeline of the whole debacle. & then point out that you'll then publish the whole shitfest on every airsoft page, forum, & review website, ensuring that EVERYONE knows what a shower of shit they are. Then await their reply 🤔

  45. To add to the others....go to the events you want to do and chat to people. Find people you get on with that are interested in similar events and stick with them. Trying to drag skirmishers to milsims, training or night games just isn't worth the hassle of the effort. The easiest way to find people who are motivated to do the things you like are by meeting them at the events you like/want to do and having a good attitude. In fact, I'd encourage you to be more wary of a team proactively recruiting....they try to hard, over commit and if they're so keen they'll consider anyone, it'll be filled with anyone....not vetted people.
