This is something I've never heard claimed before. I'm not saying that it's wrong, but If there's more than a tiny fraction of a mm of movement then that's begging for feeding or air-seal issues as you change the nozzle-to-bucking distance. Also, plenty of us replace the stock spring in an M4 with o-rings specifically to squish everything together more tightly. My Specna EDGE is quite fussy, and its mags have different dimensions to most of my other random collection of M4/M16/STANAG mags. In particular, the distance from the front to the feed tube is a full 1mm larger than (e.g.) my short VN style mags. Having measured it, I knew that I needed to shim the front of the VN mags with the loop (fabric) side of some self-adhesive velcro tape, which has helped the feeding. But wait, there's more. Even the BB-stopper inside the magazine feed is different. The VN mag stopper goes further into the feed than the Specna one does, and there's a distinct flat section that protrudes into the feed, thusly. This can lead to the mag not wanting to insert at all as the hop unit feed tube hangs up on top of the magazine stopper, and needs a good wiggle to get it to actually insert. To ameliorate that, I very carefully filed and sanded the rear of the hop unit feed tube to angle it more. This helps it to slide into the magazine and push the stopper out of the way. The tl;dr version is: don't guess, observe and measure. Calipers and a magnifying glass or jeweller's loupe are better than speculation.2 points

Red Mist 4: Operation Hirta Europe, 1985 Operation Statant is fully underway as NATO forces throughout Europe initiate a pre-emptive offensive against WARPAC forces in East Germany. The primary goal is to disrupt what intelligence suggests are preparations for a potential full-scale invasion of West Germany by Soviet forces along the border, allowing further NATO forces to organise and reinforce. Seemingly caught unawares, WARPAC forces have started to scramble a defence to allow their own forces to counter-attack. As OP Statant continues its momentum, NATO leaders have become increasingly concerned about the potential mobilisation of WARPAC Naval Forces in the Baltic. Realising the strategic importance of neutralizing them first to prevent any interruptions to preparations in Denmark, NATO command has greenlit Operation Hirta. Operation Hirta consists of a specialised task force made up of US and UK forces whose job will be to conduct a series of daring raids on WARPAC-held islands in the Baltic as well as capturing or incapacitating naval elements. Keeping the WARPAC Naval Forces inoperable is paramount for allowing NATO forces in Denmark enough time to organise a relief effort. With Statant in the balance and Operation Hirta on the brink of commencement, set to unfold as a pivotal element in this high-stakes military theatre, will you join the war effort? About Welcome to the next instalment of our Red Mist series, set in 1985 in a fictional scenario where the Cold War in Europe gets hot! Players will join a faction where using period uniforms, weapons and kit they will undertake objectives and missions assigned to them by a dedicated command team for an authentic 1980s experience. Forces Involved NATO – US and UK WARPC – DDR and USSR What is FilmSim? FilmSim events were born from a love of Airsoft, films, computer games and role-play. Our specialist themed events are a mixture of role-play and airsoft which are designed to give the players the feeling of being a character in a film. To achieve this, we try to strike a balance between realism and fun which will be different for each type of event. Our Themed Events are ticket only premium experiences which last over two days. They are not intended as “walk-on” days and have uniform, weapon and equipment restrictions which must be adhered to assure an immersive experience for everyone. Our focus is on delivering an immersive experience to our customers. Players will work in units to achieve realistic military themed objectives over the course of the weekend. Each faction is run by a dedicated command team who are there to ensure your experience is the best that we can deliver. We have an extensive range of props including many period items that will be used to deliver the authenticity and create immersion. Players are expected to wear the correct clothing, carry appropriate weapons and equipment as well as buying into the story and role-playing their character. Expect a lot less shooting than an open day skirmish – players are expected to work together, obey orders and rules of engagement, and stay “on-mission”. What can I expect? Engagements are usually fast and furious, with the preference being to break contact and rethink your approach rather than get involved in a sustained firefight with multiple casualties – grab your wounded and bug out! In most of our weekend events we go guns down in the evening sometimes with the option of night missions for those who want them, before resuming the following day. Players are encouraged to stay in character in the evening and camp in the game zone where possible. On an evening we encourage our players to socialise and will provide facilities for each team to do so in their dedicated camping area. New to the period and want to get involved? We have a number of rental guns available as well as free kit which can be loaned out. Please get in touch with one of our team for more information. Check out our Cold War Airsoft Facebook Page for more details! Event Link and Information Here!1 point

Very happy DE M906C and M904G user here, great value guns! I would say I can get through 4 high-cap Lonex flash mags in a game (so I've just bought an extra one), but I am a spammy full auto player out in the woods, so if you're only semi-auto in CQB, two mags should do ya. A battle belt with a harness gives you the extra option of carrying a holstered pistol on your hip as God intended, so don't rule them out1 point -

Not wanting to jinx myself, I've been lucky enough with my VZ58s to get away with just a bucking and barrel change for most of the 7+ years I've had them. The ETU is where I've had issues unfortunately! I think it would be beyond that unfortunately. IIRC, the cylinder head and nozzle sit much lower than they do on normal gearboxes, and the motor attachment is more akin to a V2, where you screw the grip directly into the gearbox shell, rather than having a motor cage. I'll try to dig out one of my spare gearboxes and get some photos. Photos of a V3 and two VZ58 boxes, with and without the trigger board & motor guide.1 point

Specna Arms Core feeding issues
Rogerborg reacted to Pseudotectonic for a topic
@Rogerborg I got a Specna Edge as well and after tinkering a bit I discovered a few things: The inner barrel assembly is free floating inside the outer barrel and can move freely horizontally in the axial direction. The hop unit is spring loaded on the outer barrel, which pushes it against the gearbox. But when everything is assembled, there is a whole 2 mm of clearance for forward movement, obviously by design for self-locating into magazines. The hop unit feeding tube is chamfered for this purpose (or made more chamfered to improve magazine locating, as you have done). The inner barrel has surprising amount of wobble inside the outer barrel because it is just free floating inside. All these wobble up and down and side to side, and tilting in any direction, is detrimental for self-location into magazines because when the magazine comes in, there is too much room for error and the hop unit can be outside the correct zone for self-location. The inner barrel can be shimmed or "stablised" for better accuracy, but this needs to be allowed to move horizontally without friction for the self-location to work. Similarly the outer barrel can be shimmed on the inside diameter of the upper receiver hole (as opposed to using barrel nut shims to try to hold the barrel in place by sheer friction), to centralise the axis. Besides accuracy, this has added benefit to tightening the guiding slots for the hop unit so there is less chance for the hop unit to rotate axially which again throws off the location of the feeding tube into the magazine. You can test the forward movement of the hop unit by pushing it forward with fingers through the magwell.1 point -
Hasn't the simple test question been suggested before? Probably worth a try if it can be easily implemented. I don't find the spam a huge problem as it gets cleaned quite quickly but of course prevention is better. Question: Do you have to delete every post individually or are they all cleared when the user is banned?1 point

Is all fps Equal?
Tactical Pith Helmet reacted to Sewdhull for a topic
If you use a weaker spring it's likely that the piston won't whack the cylinder as hard making less sound giving you the impression it's less powerful than the brass barrel. Your brass barrel may not have been 6.03 even if it says it is. It sounds like all is working as you'd like so now's the time to play.1 point -

I'm sure there's going to be a psychological aspect, when you see your gat shooting like a laser it does feel very satisfying. When it is spraying around all over the place it... Not so much. But apart from that, all FPS are the same. Except TM FPS. They are MAGICAL. 😋1 point -

1.09j to 1.33j is a pretty big jump, was the new ZCI the same length as the stock? Have you measured your stock barrel inner diameter? From my recent tests, one thing for sure is very few inner barrels are actually what they say they are.1 point -

So why did you change it? It's probably more to do with the specifics of the barrel and hop rubber than anything else. Joules are joules, FPS is FPS.1 point -

Dye I4 VS I4 PRO VS I5? - Any Airsofters Run These?
Josh95 reacted to Speedbird_666 for a topic
My eldest son runs Dye I5s: They are on the smaller side of Paintball masks - I can't use glasses with them - but I have a big wide head so I use Empire E-Flexs instead. You will probably get some glasses fogging issues under the mask, my middle son and I use goggle fans connected to a poundland powerbank mounted on the goggle strap, which pretty much completely eliminates it. Paintball goggles + Fan unit has been by far the best combo that I have found over the years for eliminating fogging when using glasses.1 point
