  1. Figured its about time I shared my 20 year old TM Steyr AUG. Still my only AEG and running perfectly with some upgrades over time. Still want to play about with the under barrel rails but this does the job for now and doesn't look too bad. A barrel clamp with Rail riser attached. I got a 3D printed rail similar to the AUG HC piece but need to modify it a little to fit. Also need to get the Feyachi magnifier to sit behind the reflex sight (which is sitting quite far back as I needed to fit the lens protector on (not an issue when I get the Red Dot Eng. protectors in.

  2. For unmodified examples i can think of 3 cases: 1. Typical airsofter fickleness 2. Popularity 3. Unrealistic performance expectations For modified examples it's much more simple: 1. Coating it in superglue and dragging it through the prometheus catalogue is not the same thing as actually improving the performance.

  3. My take: 1. most airsofters are fickle, me included, one minute "x" gun is the best thing since sliced bread, 5 minutes later, there's something new their going gooey eyed over. 2. TM are considered a sound investment & hold their money better than most brands, so when moneys needed quick, you know you'll not lose much flogging it.

  4. Notionally it's just yeeting TAG rounds like any other toob. The reason I bring it up is that the video specifically talks about using sights to put a round on target, i.e. shooting as flat as possible, which is exactly what caused the injury shown. InB4 "nobody should": but they do. And "nobody would": but Licking Cumstain. Projectiles with ~16J of energy have no business being used on an airsoft site where people are signing up for ~2J impacts.

  5. I've had my TM recoils for around 8-9 years now, in that time they've had minimal down time, been great performers and have held their value (in my opinion). Before that I had other TM recoils (but a bit battered!) As for your question, why are they always for sale? People come into and leave this sport on weekly basis. Some of these people have ok to decent incomes and after their first budget rif (or even their first RIF altogether) a TM is often on the want list. Those that can afford it go for it and then 6/12 months later they have lost the bug and they are the next people to leave the sport. It's an ever spinning circle of players, some stick for a while, some a few months, some even a few years but very few stick with it 5+ years. and why hang onto a rif at all? Especially when they retain their value and it's not something you plan to use again? Essentially you could ask, why are there always specnas etc available for sale?

  7. I'm definitely a sucker for this.... I'll spend months reviewing something, I'll look up every possible combination of accessories to go with it, eventually buy it, a week later something shiny catches my attention and the process repeats itself... Like an ADHD magpie...

  9. I do not, but as someone who plays in Scotland, likes to float about different sites to keep things fresh, and has clearly missed the news of a site moving locations last year (so the clue is totally lost on me!) I really would like to know because I'd think twice about booking to it, to be honest. If naming-and-shaming is off the cards, is a stronger hint by private message allowed? ?

  11. It wasn't as bad as it looks from that, but it knocked the lens clean out of his goggles. This was from a Murcan milsim where he was roof gunning from a vehicle that could only be taken out with TAG rounds. They were meant to be launched near it, not at it, but airsofters gonna airsoft.

    What have you made?

Had a few things in the works over the past few months. First up: MG42 converted to MG3. Its probably 70% real steel parts nowadays. Its currently off getting HPA'd. *Really* excited to finally finish it. Had to pair up with a local guy who has a Wehrmacht kit and a MG42 for a quick photoshoot. Next, converted one of my Real Sword Type 97s, the 97b in this case, to HPA. Had to make a custom nozzle with some help from Norwest Airsoft in the States. Im slowly falling more and more for APS-shell shotguns, but hate dealing with shells. So sometimes I just use my Wargame Striker12, which contains spent shells. But for those days I prefer to use the 870, I found a biodegradable PLA material made from algae and am printing shells for that pretty constantly, whenever the printer isn't running on something else. They aren't very strong and tend to break after a few uses, but considering they cost a pence or two a shell, I don't really care. Next, my 417 EPM-1S project is nearing completion. I thought I had it down with v5 (last worked on in July 2022) but when I broke my G27K out of storage I found that the mag was far too large, and required loosening my hop unit to feed - so that wouldn't do. v10 seems to be the magic number; it feeds even with my hop properly installed, and seems almost perfect. Just a few cosmetic things need sorted, like the positioning of the BB window. Finally, this is an idea I've had for awhile but never got around to. I've wanted to make a Bundeswehr-accurate optic for my MG4, considering my only other option was finding a $1000+ Hensoldt 4x30i. Well, we've been snowed in here in the mountains for the past several days (and am about to be for several more) so I knocked this out in about 10 hours over the last two days. Its printing now, and if everything fits Ill send it off to be SLS'd. It uses real surplus Hensoldt 3x inserts meant for G36 optics, as the real one appears to - they're also pretty readily available which is good. It cannibalizes parts from a cheap G36 optic, including the G-36 style rail nuts, adjustment bolts and heat-sets, rail, rail bolts and heat-sets, and rubber view piece and forward scope retaining piece. Basically all one needs to make this optic is the files, the basic G-36 optic from your local airsoft shop, the three new crossbolts to attach it to the rail, and the Hensoldt insert.

  18. There are a lot of reasons. TM have an excellent reputation for making reliable, accurate and reasonably affordable guns, so they sell a lot of them new. A lot of new guns sold means a bigger pool of used guns. TM make very reliable guns, so they last a long time. A TM might be resold multiple times when something cheaper was scrapped by its second (or even first!) owner, so again - a bigger pool of used guns. TM make some relatively high-end stuff, especially the NGRS/MWS rifles you're probably talking about. Guns like that are very expensive, so when people don't want them any more they sell them to get the money, rather than forget about them in the loft. A £100 SRC might not be worth the trouble of selling - a £700 Recoil Shock is a different proposition. Expensive guns are also worth repairing when things go wrong, prolonging their lifespan where a cheaper gun that suffered the same failure might have been scrapped. People that can afford to buy high-end stuff can afford to chop and change more frequently. People that can't afford to buy high-end stuff but did so anyway need to sell stuff more frequently.

  21. First impressions: I'm surprised, it feels very solid despite the brand not being something we usually associate with the word, it's also not a feather at 3.4kg (w/o BBS or a battery). Did a quick test to ensure it's in working order and it already put an evil grin on my face ? Now I just have to set the hops and buy a couple of bags of 0.25s Maybe slap a red dot on it and set up a temporary sling.

Thought I'd share this, not here, over on zin, thankfully guy was wise to it, but the scammers are getting better with photoshopping stuff, as usual targeting wanted ads. Keep up with due diligence, if the seller doesn't have considerable feedback & forum presence then ask for more info, & maybe some staged pics, get his nan in a picture holding the gun lol, & lastly, only ever pay via Paypal goods & services, never f&f or bank transfer, or if you can, collect it in person. https://forums.zeroin.co.uk/forum/classifieds/rate-a-trader/3324582-qt09-scammer-avoid

  27. I think some good reasons have already been given, but it could also be impacted by people getting into the sport and learning to do basic teching over time. Once you know how to change out a hop rubber, nub and barrel, you can get a Cyma, change out those parts and have a gun that shoots better than a TM for a fraction of the price. Could be impacted by airsofter's wives too. "You spent what on that new gun?"
    2 points
  28. They're one of the most popular and long-standing brands, so it's only natural that you see more of them being sold and bought. Also as has been mentioned, airsofters are fickle, someone will pile a load of money into a build, still feel unfulfilled and sell it to justify moving onto the next one.

    New user. :)

Hello, everyone. I am a novice player and have lurking the UK Airsoft threads/forums for quite a few months now, felt it would be appropriate to create an account and interact more here ? After some time-spent and research, I came to the quite firm decision to get my first AEG last month, which is a Evolution Airsoft E-104. Torn between choosing the options of what LCT, E&L, Cyma, and Specna Arms - offer for AK-104/105 platforms. - E&L AK 104 Essential - LCT LCK-104 - LCT 104 - CM040D AK-105 - Evo E-104 Paratrooper variant - Specna Arms SA-J08 EDGE™ 2.0 I do have some queries regarding any of the major differences these companies offer for a similar platform. For example I've heard the E-104 is more rebranding and slight modification of a Specna or Cyma model by Evolution Airsoft. What do you guys suggest or think of the purchase decision? ?Open to feedback and suggestions! : )

  32. There was a 911 992 GT3 at 130k at Porsche Perth just before Christmas, the first time one has been below list price for nearly 2 years, and its because the entire UK car market is affected by a 5+ percent downturn in values across the board - What happens in London affects the entire UK on residuals.

  33. I guess it’s the same with any Ford; more of them on the road than anything else so you see more for sale. I guess this answers my question though thank you. Quality remains quality; and if they keep their value I guess it makes the most sense to move them on. I just see a lot of adverts for TM guns (by the way you can list TM guns for sale without having everything in caps)

  36. Picked up a brand new Viper Plate Carrier Gen 2 Buckle up thing. To buckle up my Haley Copy chest rig in DNC. Chest rigs look tiny on me so felt this would be the best option and to keep it DNC and in budget. Managed to get the Plate Carrier for £50 brand new as well as some cheap Viper Soft plates for a new Tan Chest rig I got that came without as well as some neck warmers.

  47. All plastics are polymers, not all polymers are plastics (DNA for example is a polymer). As @Sewdhull mentioned some manufacturers started using "polymer" instead of plastic because of the negative associations people have with plastics in terms of durability. The plastic that Glock uses is a trade secret but most people seem to think it's either DuPont Zytel or something very similar which is just plastic reinforced with glass fibre. Some airsoft manufacturers haver followed suit and started using glass reinforced plastics after ABS proved to be less than ideal for receivers (old TM M4's for example) and picked up on the use of "polymer" as a marketing differentiator because the vast unwashed masses neither understand the difference or care because they're led to believe that "polymer is better than plastic" when it's actually "glass fibre reinforced nylon is better than ABS". As to @TheFull9's point, I very much doubt that "influencers" understand what they're saying as most of the time they're just repeating what the marketing blurb says, so at best they're perpetuating a lack of understanding and at worst misleading buyers. That said, the market will support itself at the lowest common denominator so is it really the manufactures/influencers who are at fault or the buying public for just not making themselves aware?

  48. Tried a new site, but by a regular host - RIFT: The Battery. Numbers were fairly low - about 35ish on the Sunday, and the previous day was about 25-30 by all reports. So under half, but this really helped the gameplay. Only a couple of rentals, and only a handful of people who have been before, so a bulk of people were in the same boat. It's an old Battery Hen house, so 4 large interconnecting hen houses in an H shape, with obstacles and props in the outdoors area. The site is CQB, but i like it as it's not all right angle turns and dark rooms (yes, there are portions of that) but there are also good lines of sight, multiple flanking positions and not just people stacking up on corners. No pyro, so you had to shoot your way out, and Single shot only, with a gentleman's agreement of no just shooting at a corner to pin people down or spamming the trigger, only shoot when you see them - this really helped people push up. If you locked down a corridor or opening, there was opportunity for the opposition to fall back and find a path to sneak up behind you. Doors and paths changed with the games, which is a nice touch. Being young and fleet on foot was definitely an advantage, so everyone actually ran from the spawn points, rather than the usual of a few of them sprint off and the rest trundle up. Blue team dominated the 1st game, so a few went to red to balance. Same story for the 2nd and 3rd, so by the afternoon, Reds had more bodies to try and make it competitive. Staff, as always, were on it. Minimal no-calling hits, and only the odd "I got you, no you didn't", as the spawns were only a minute or so walk away, and everyone generally seemed in good spirits. Overall a really good day, one of the best I had, thanks to the site. It had a nice balance of not being out ranged by snipers and DMR's, but not to close that you walked into someone around every bend and doorway. Most of RIFTs site are based around Bucks/Beds/Oxon sort of area, so this one is a bit of a drive way in comparison out in central Essex, and even though it's not a financially viable, the lowish headcount really helped the gameplay and pushing up. I would need to see what it's like with a full compliment of 60 to see if it makes it better or worse.
