How often do you play?
son of dan and 2 others reacted to Dan Robinson for a topic
Every two weeks usually, sometimes more. In the run up to the boy emigrating we were sometimes doing two a week. Expensive but good father-son bonding. I maintain that, once the equipment is bought, Airsoft is one if the best value for money days out..... £30+BBs per person, and i get a 7 to 9 mile run, lunch and, when the boy was here, a fun day without fear of disobedience. Once I've emigrated next year I will only get a few chances a year probably, so im packing what I can in.3 points -

In order for anyone to advise you which is best, you first need to define what you mean by best. Even if you do that, you will probably get a lot of different opinions. As to FPS, that is impossible to advise; guns that are nominally the same and are from the same manufacturer can have very different power outputs.3 points -

This. High fps doesn't equal better, for example while my Galaxy MP5K has a higher fps than a stock TM, given the choice I'd pick a TM over it any day of the week3 points -

Eh, they were decent value for money a few years back, but they're not brilliant guns, just a pleasant surprise given the price. And, yes, "best" is entirely subjective. A reasonable rule of thumb is to find a CYMA model at the price that you want to pay, and then look for reasons to get anything else for that money.2 points

How often do you play?
Cannonfodder and one other reacted to RostokMcSpoons for a topic
I play every couple of weeks because that's the cadence at Spec Ops... I tried another site nearby, it didn't go so well, so I've decided I'm best off sticking with what I know for the moment - and spending some of the savings on the usual consumables for the next one, and for back garden plinking (though even that's limited due to our house cat who would happily try to make a run for it when the patio door is open, and m'wife insisting our neighbours will hate the sound of my guns and will therefore cause armed police to descend upon us!) Unfortunately(?) I've missed a recent game for a spa trip, and I'm missing the next as I'll be traveling back from a holiday. The good news for me is that Carlos reckons the CQB site is on the cusp of opening, so I'll be able to get my 'fix' even if I miss a woodland game day. And there are actually some well-regarded sites nearby (around MK and Northampton) that I should have tried by now - with my job situation looking a bit happier, I might get to try 'em out soon. Where is it you live, @DanBow?2 points -

High FPS and best aren't the same thing. Also the highest FPS you can have is set by 1st the law and 2nd site you play at rules. It is also good idea to be at least 10% under the site limit as if you are chrono'd over the limit. The best case us, if you don't have a back up and there are no spare rental guns you are packing up and going home.2 points

Double eagle Noveske n4 - MWS clone
Gunboat Diplomat and one other reacted to mightyjebus for a topic
I've got one here. Initial impressions are it's a good copy of the MWS. Everything works as it should and the parts that need to be steel are steel. Negatives are it's very dry out the box and needs a good lub. I have a horrible high pitched ping from the recoil spring but I think a bit of lub will sort that out. The other thing to watch out for is the QC. I've found a few loose screws straight out the box so it's worth giving it a once over when you get one to make sure everything is tight. It might even be worthwhile using loctite on anything that is loose out the box. Also worth pointing out with mine that the FPS is very consistant with very little variation between shots which is nice.2 points -
I get this, but at the same time I sometimes pair with newbie snipers as well so that I can give them some pointers and ideas on how to play the role. If we don't teach the noobs, they won't learn. That said, even if we teach the noobs that doesn't necessarily mean that they will learn either 😂2 points

I typically play every two weeks, but I try and get out to other skirmish days and events where possible. If I could, I'd probably play every weekend1 point

I aim to play at least once a month, but often manage twice a month through the spring / summer. Makes up for the winter when I may skip a game because of work or because cold, wet , muddy conditions aren't as much fun as they used to be 🤣1 point

Less and less for me too 😟 Its been several months since I last played. I hope to go again at least once before the end of the year.1 point

How often do you play?
DanBow reacted to Gunboat Diplomat for a topic
Roughly every couple of weeks for us, both due to the schedule Spec Ops MK run to and the fact that since I'm paying for me and the boy it's prob about £120ish a month spent on walk on fees and ammo. Money and time no object I'd play every weekend, we only started in May this year but it's quickly become our favourite way to run around and burn calories.1 point -

I hope so, I just got 🍿 Best is super subjective, some would say the ISC full metal split gearbox is best Others, the galaxy mpk5 TM do a NGRS which simulates recoil CYMA have a couple of ranges at different price point and mixtures of performance. I guess what I'm asking is what is your best?1 point -
Cyma G36 - worth upgrading?
Rogerborg reacted to Gunboat Diplomat for a topic
Looks like AK2M4 are getting the XT motors back in at the start of Oct so will be ordering one of those alongside the Perun AB++. Should be a fun little project. I might do it in secret and not tell the boy anything has changed until he tries it at our next skirmish (foreshadowing the moment it shits itself on the field here I realise). Anyone know off hand if I need the long or short shaft motor for the G36? Lazy I know, but since there's been decent advice so far I thought I'd take advantage!1 point -
As above. Plus I think you need a bit of forum cred first. Meaning you can't just join to sell. I'm prob wrong but then again I generally am 🙂1 point

First off, if you built this RIF 25+ years ago, have you checked inside it for any issues? Is the hop rubber still fresh and soft? Second, what ammunition are you using? BB quality is a big deal. Third, you shouldn't ever need PTFE tape on an AEG. That mod originated for VSR cut barrels and hop rubbers, where the design allows air to balloon the hop packing and cause a leak. If the hop unit is loose on the rubber, then yes, you should wrap the rubber/barrel in layers of tape for stability, but that's a spec issue at heart, and I would suggest finding a rubber or unit that fits better. Fourth, this issue could be something as simple as the nub or hop arm having shifted, putting more pressure on one side of the rubber. In order for us to give you better advice, I'd suggest disassembling your barrel group, testing and feeling everything, and post pictures! Give us the details and the nitty gritty.1 point

How to setup ad-hoc fire teams

Like the time I was at Airsoft Plantation (I think), when we were encouraged to do a flanking manoeuvre... I went wandering through shoulder high ferns only to disappear very quickly down a massive hidden dip - much to the amusement of those behind me.1 point -

You've got me second-guessing myself, but IIRC there's a single spring in the ASG tri-shots, driving three pistons. That's how the CYMA tri-shots work (which I also have and wouldn't recommend disassembling!) - or rather two concentric springs. So, yes, which one would you "upgrade", and to what? Dunno about other brands, but everything's just a clone of a clone of a clone, innit.1 point

As someone who’s owned a few different manufacturers GBB M4’s at one time or another over the years, for me Tokyo Marui is the one to go for. I’m very similar to you in that mine are collection pieces, with a few rounds put through them every now and again. Therefore, looks and feel are more important than performance and Tokyo Marui cannot be beaten. The Cerakote finish is spot on and it just feels right. Both weight and quality are top notch. Also, the performance is better than most. There’s also plenty of upgrades available. Personally I’d leave the internals alone, other than an Angry Gun heavy buffer and HAO steel bolt end to increase the felt recoil if you want more recoil. If it’s only going to be lightly used, the extra pressure from the heavy buffer and bolt end shouldn’t cause to much of a problem. I’ve had no problems with any of mine so far, (touch wood). There’s loads of external options as well. Rail upgrades and the like. As far as other manufacturers go: WE - Decent enough products, cheaper than TM, but if you want trademarks you’ll either have to buy from Asia and hope there’s no issues with customs, or buy a trademarked lower receiver and switch the blank lower out. VFC - Difficult to get hold of a VFC M4A1 these days although MK18’s, XM177’s and the 733 are available. But, it just doesn’t feel as nice as the TM. I love VFC stuff and their internal build quality is much better than it was, but I prefer a TM. GHK - If it’s a standard M4A1 you’re after, you’ll end up with one with Navy SEAL markings on the receiver instead of Colt trademarks. They now do the URG-I version and the MK18 which both have Colt trades, but, by all accounts, GHK’s quality control isn’t as good as it was. Golden Eagle - I’ve not had any experience with. I think they may have plastic receivers. I may be wrong, but I think that’s the case. Also, I don’t think they have trademarks. Double Eagle - I’ve got the Noveske N4 and it is nice. Comes with TM style internals. But, I don’t think they do an M4A1 and I’ve not had a good enough look over it to judge the quality of the internals. The externals look great though. For me, personally, if I’m planning a build, I’ll go for a TM if I know the parts I need are available. If you’re after a GBB that feels great out of the box, that you can just unbox and manipulate and be happy with, but also upgrade if you want, I think you can’t go wrong with the TM. (And no, I don’t work for TM. 😉)1 point

I'd love a Type 89 that ran off a standard V2 or V3 gearbox and took standard AEG parts. No need for mechanical 3-shot burst now that Peruns and Gates are a thing.1 point
