So I'm making my own grenades...
EDcase and 4 others reacted to Jez_Armstrong for a topic
If anyone has followed my previous posts on other social media you'd see I made a distraction greande this week which is basically a personal alarm inside a 3d printed shell I designed, it's cheap and cheerful, won't break the bank and it bounces (Printed in PLA which glows in the dark and TPU for a more friendlier rubber effect) , I thought it was a great idea and I'm going to test them out this weekend, the only concerns were the DB levels (which I've now got down to 87db from 114db) and that it would be continuous untill its turned off but nevertheless it should make for a good distraction once thrown into a room on a normal skirmish day and people wonder WTF that thing was that just went off and as they look around you breach the room and attack 🤷♂️ (see video below) So this got me thinking about making another grenade, my Mk2 version which I've not seen in the market before This one will have a rechargeable battery via USB, an on/off switch and an armed button, you'll have a speaker and the ability to record your own sounds on it for 10 seconds, so you could have 5 seconds of silence once you press the button (primer/fuse) and then 5 seconds of multi bangs sounds, or you can record a voice that says something stupid like "they are coming from behind us" which might make some stupid people turn around Or you can have something silly like this 😂 But it's something I'm currently developing, I only had the idea on Sunday and by Wednesday (today) I have a working mk1 prototype and the Mk2 version should be ready by the weekend, at the moment it's a little quiet at 0.5w but I'm adding an inline amplifier this evening which should bump that up to 3w and also designing a grenade housing for it to all fit into Any feedback so far will be greatly appreciated5 points -

Don’t ask how I know this …… but liquid latex / plasti-dip are useful products There are devices that exist which could possibly be used to open up inner tubes to make it a bit easier to drop in the device But having those in you’re toolbox tend to raise eyebrows more than liquid latex3 points -

Yes, I have saved a lot over the years by not buying primers and just using a cardbord Mk5 thunderflash .3 points -
For me no, I'm not big on the whole distraction device idea, especially as it starts sounding the instant the pins pulled. The whole grenade thing with a a timed silence allowing you time to post it through a doorway or window definitely sounds like a game changer though.3 points

Funnily enough I asked Jim the same thing before I brought mine! It fits, cocking handle locks back fine but it just falls short of seating properly. *Beat me too it.2 points -

I’ve been meaning to hop in since seeing the title of the thread, and making my assumptions that is was about DIY pyrotechnics, particularly as I was seeing mk1 & mk2 in the updates but I’ve been busy in the lead up to today As per my accompanying photo I can just about squeeze in some time to properly read and comment ….. I’m relieved that @Jez_Armstrongis fairly safe from self destruction and a terrorism arrest I’m liking both ideas. Mk1 makes good use of an existing product Mk2 builds on that My main dislike of mk1 was the need to stop it, but it seems like you can crack that (as a site prop I’d be less worried about it being on until reset - but it would depend on the environment as an alarm in a confined underground room is a bit different to woodland) Good idea, good fun project. …… and it’s up to the site if they let you use it The key problem with devices is losing them, shutting them up and retrieving them You appear to be thinking along those line2 points -

The glow in the dark and flashing light would be excellent in dark CQB environments for recovery of the grenade once thrown. Although it would have to kept from view before use due to the glow.2 points -

Much appreciated, truth be told it doesn't look as shit as I was expecting it to either. Certainly food for thought, alongside figuring out what would go if I make the leap. Can't be breaking my self imposed 'no more than 4 RIFs (excluding the single pistol I own which is entirely there to justify a fancy holster... which is only there to justify a fancy belt etc etc). The MWS would be the one on the chopping block (again... which I knew full well would happen). A head scratcher indeed.1 point -

I actually took these a few weeks ago for another member on here who asked the same question Whilst it doesn’t 100% line up with the cocking handle slot it does still function perfectly fine hope that helps1 point -

I run my Specna 249 on a 2200 mah 7.4v Lipo . I've fitted a basic mosfet with the idea of running 11.1v , but the high torque motor i put in is giving a healthy rof on 7.4 tbh.1 point

Great minds I'm currently trying to fit it inside an inner tube 😂 It's not going well1 point -
The MK1 doesn't do much for me. If it had a delay then boom sound (white noise) for a few seconds it might be worth pursuing in my view. But the MK2 definitely has marketable potential as long as its priced right and up to the point a certain country makes a cheaper copy... My input would be if you could give it a thin rubber/neoprene outer to protect it and the victims. That would help it being accepted at sites (most allow rolling BFGs and dropping through windows)1 point

Best brand of BB’s to use in gbbr (MWS)
Wayfaring Stranger reacted to Steveocee for a topic
I tend to only buy Geoffs Super Precisions, they're the only BB I've never questioned and always perform on point for me. Saying that, this week the .32's were out of stock so I've bought 2Kg of Warhead 32s as they're meant to be "about as good" and they only costed me the same as 1Kg of Geoffs did. Not looking to make a move over but hoping for a good stand in.1 point -

They've had 8 years to make theirs, I think their customers would be happy to have one of my mk1's than carry on waiting 😂1 point -
Yeah the first one is just annoying, but the Mk2 definitely has the potential to be considered a timed "grenade" of sorts, especially useful for those urban sites that can't have any form of pyro ?1 point
