  4. Entirely possible, with it being cerakoted I imagine the paint has a lot to do with variance in how tight thing are/aren't. Very impressed by the kit on the whole, just waiting on a can to arrive from HK to finish it. Did end up opting for the Inline Arisaka mount which arrived today. May well swap the sling out for a Trex Arms one, like the look of the AOR1 one but prefer the functionality of the Trex. Will post up some nicer photos once the can has arrived 👌

  5. Sometimes you just have to full send on something you've been considering for a fair while. This was one of those times. Impeccable service from Red Wolf, HK to my door in 5 days. Should be a fun build, placeholder didn't last long 😅.

Hey guys, your replies were promising so I bought one, I was genuinely surprised, This is by far the best sub 200 AEG I've ever handled, thanks for the tips!

  7. I like the EXPS 3 design, with the integrated quick release mount. I've just checked out HW sights. Interesting comparative YouTube review shows the HW S1 is the one to get, if you have the dosh. But there's not many to be spotted in the UK. Dave's is selling the S1 at £140. That's too much tbh. (And they're sold out anyway) So back in the Poundshop, there's this one on eBay that's not the same as those £15 Ali ones, so maybe a step up in quality (or maybe that's wishful thinking) https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/294056699806 Looks quite nice for £55 I'll have a further look at the pricier ones on Ali.

  8. In terms of function they're all equally shit (especially on a GBBR) until you're stepping into Holy Warrior repros (generally £100+ ish), with the next step from there being real ones. If you just want it to look cool in photos then go with whatever floats your boat, if you want it to actually work and hold zero you'll need to dig deeper into your pockets. Worth noting that all repros, at least in my experience, are red dots rather than holos. Much of a muchness to most, but the information is there to do with as you wish.

  12. I'm a big fan of the look of an EoTech on a 416. I got this EXPS3 and G43 clone from an airsoft store on eBay for around £120 a couple of years ago. They look pretty good, the reticule is nice and crisp, but it's only ever a guide to your target! I do have to say the Red Dot Engineering sight protectors are great though. Definitely worth a few extra quid.

  13. Excellent! Well found. AK2M4 ships out very quickly and has them in stock as well (https://www.ak2m4.co.uk/internal-parts/misc-internal-parts).

  14. You could trim the broken spring end and bend another coil out with needle nose pliers as a stopgap. I've done that before. It will put a bit more tension on the tappet though during cycling.
    1 point
  15. Somebody did say it could be a broken spring. Halfords do a box of mixed springs.might be something in there which will do the job.

  16. The nozzle certainly does not seem to be moving properly. It could well be a tappet plate issue; it might be sticking in its groove, rubbing on the sector gear or possibly catching somewhere. It is probably time to take the gearbox apart again.

ncie work, i could see some site going nuts for this as it would mean a marhsal isnt having to stand on an obective just to score the game, especially if its built into a prop.

  19. I have a couple of theta ones. Seem usable outdoors for me... Wouldn't take them indoors as low light is an issue for them. They also turn off, but as opposed to a fault, I think it a battery saving measure they have, which is annoying as you aren't going to be constantly poking the optic during game days.

  20. My two cents - genuine EoTech sights are expensive by nature because of how they work. None of the copies work the same way as mentioned above and are basically reflex sights so need a mirrored lens. The biggest issue is that the cheaper ones tend to be more heavily mirrored which makes them harder to see through in low light. Halfway decent ones however are "good enough" for airsoft unless you're in a particularly dark CQB environment and then there's plenty of other red dots that will do the job. As for saying that they're all shit or that only Holy Warrior are any good is subjective at best and disingenuous at worst. I've had a cheap chinese knock off for years that's absolutely fine (which I used to use at The Mall to no detriment), the Sotac ones are fine too.

  23. Yeah, I guess that's my remaining concern is that any airsoft-level sight won't have sufficient shock resistance. Looks like I'll be Mr Guinea Pig on the Sotac one My real-steel Kobra seems to be suffering at the moment (and I think this pre-dates my GBBR) that a knock to it triggers the 'lower brightness' button circuitry. A full burst of shots turns the brightness to zero. That's one of the reasons I wanted to buy a new sight. It unfortunately demonstrates that even rugged sights with a good rep aren't completely bomb-proof. Ok, thanks for the input, I appreciate it even though I've either misunderstood it, or disagreed with it. Eotech's are the one thing I've got zero experience of, I didn't expect them to be different from red dots (given that I wouldn't be going for a true holo sight). My only real-steel sight is a Kobra. Functionally, in terms of parallax, that's acting the same as my other red-dots (which are all cheap and/or used). -------------- Edit: The green rattle can came out to play at lunchtime... PEQ box is now 'assimilated'... I think it'll look great with the Eotech-a-like on top

  24. No they are all as good. I have 4 feyachi sights and all of them at room length have about 1-2" error but at garden length and beyond that is drastically reduced lower than the accuracy of any given pew.

  25. I have the Nuprol one and it turns itself off sometimes when I fire an AEG (I had it on my mp5k), let alone a GBBR, so now it just sits on my 416 NGRS that I never use and just looks pretty. Don't get the Nuprol one. It's crap

  26. I have a SOTAC XPS3. Bright enough to be visible even during the sunniest of days to the point where I even turn it down a bit just to save battery. I much prefer eotechs/holographics style of optics for the large 'target window'. I can't get away with stuff like micro red dots, T1/T2 etc or I haven't found one that works for me. I tried using a sight protector but found that it caused me more issues than it was worth and just removed it.

  34. Tis the final (hopefully) form of my carbine. Swapped the 6.5" handguard for a 5" ARP one. Had to turn down the TTI outer barrel because the G&G barrel nut is very narrow and didn't fit (you can see the bare aluminium "rings" where I removed material off the barrel). Also removed the EVO sights as they are too low to be comfortably used with a lower face mask. All I need now is a decent sling and maybe a tracer unit.

  35. It's the current hotness in airsoft. Being able to fine tune power and rate of fire exactly where you need it, as well as how quiet it is and being able to run high caps is a pretty nice bonus; the only price you pay is a line and tank, which doesn't really affect most people and how they play; I personally can't stand it because I crawl into weird spots and the line always gets caught on things and I like being able to leave my rifle and go SMG-ing if things get too spicy. However, I will say that sitting at the back and spamming BBs at the enemy is also something that AEG users do aplenty and I've found that playing aggressively is just not something a lot of airsofters do nowadays. The number of times I see people going out to games with a plate carrier of 6 high cap magazines and going through them all in a single game, but similarly never see them on the front line. I swear these people spend more on BBs than I do, and I run .32s at the lightest (unless I'm somewhere with a weight limit). I often find myself as the front line because I've slow crawled into a position and nobody on my team has pushed up anywhere near as far forward

  36. Probably close to record time for me receiving a stock MWS and quickly making it not stock. Very much a placeholder build from the bits box while waiting on parts to arrive. Very mayo, but as 'functionality' goes I've found an 11.5 URGI hard to beat.

  37. Sounds like you need to start speaking to the marshalls/field owners to get something done about this. That or go to a different field.

  38. TBH, I only check this thread to read the next chapter in AS vs HPA. Maybe we can change the title? I was at Driver Wood in Crawley yesterday. It's definitely had the most invested in it out of any site I've been to and the Marshals do their job well (step 1 - paying attention, step 2 - communicating). It's got some cool "props" too (a helicopter, boat, black cab, double-decker bus and military trucks) but the two times I've been, something's lacking for me. You've got an L shaped open section which most of the aforementioned props are positioned in. On paper these make for excellent cover to push up from point to point. However the general lack of enthusiasm amongst the players, lead to everyone bunching up at the back and wasting countless BB's, mostly keeping the oppositions heads down/preventing advancement. The woodland section adjacent is quite dense too, making sneaking around difficult. A few times I tried, it was met with several "brrrpps" (HPA!) and a couple hundred BB's rained down. The afternoon provided some highlights, as I was able to successfully carryout a few cool "tactical" moments teaming up with a mate. For example when we went either side of a riot shield player and he didn't know which side to defend. I'm not going to be in a hurry to go back, but at the same time I don't really feel like that's the sites fault.....a weird one. Not having a moan but as a note, it's the first time I've felt in the minority as an AEG user. Definitely seeing a rise in HPA players.

  39. Some sites do apply weapon rules, the gaol (for example) do a week day game with gbbrs, pistols and shotguns only. I've noticed lots of HPA on my last few games but I haven't noticed a change in player behaviour thankfully, so I'd recommend trying new sites. Based on your recent posts either all HPA players are twats or I'd suggest you actually need a better site that addresses players with problem behaviours. I remember people talking about systema owners and changing the power settings, quick change springs etc after chrono and while it's possible, in 11 years I don't think I've seen a single case of that.

  41. Following our recent adventure oop north as described in Weeble200's post above, I spent today at Tower Airsoft, one of my regular sites in the sarf east. About 50 people were present to indulge in shooting each other with little plastic balls. For a change, the games were organised by the team from Airsoft Plantation, Tower's big brother at the other end of the wood. We started off with a simple ambush game which, as the name suggests, involved one team ambushing the other as they patrolled along the road through the site. The patrolling team's key rule of engagement was that they had to stay on the road and could not shoot until engaged by the ambushers; once that had happened, they were free to return fire and go wherever they wanted. Patrollers had infinite regens on a marshal, whereas the ambushers only had one life. I was dubious about the game at first, but it turned out to be rather fun, with both teams getting a go at being the ambushers and the ambushees; the team that cleared the ambushers out in the fastest time form the first shot being fired were the winners, with a one minute penalty for each ambusher still alive after the area had been declared clear by the patrollers. After that, we played the first leg of a longer game using the whole site. The concept was that the attacking team had been parachuted in ahead of a seaborne invasion with a mission to destroy a road via which the enemy would receive reinforcements, a comms centre, and a vital bridge. In order to destroy these, the attacking team had a designated demolition specialist, equipped with electrically triggered smoke grenades (no bangs allowed at Tower due to the proximity of neighbours), an electric detonator and a remote control. They could attack them in any order they wanted but had to start dispersed across the site out of sight of each other as a result of the drop. The defenders had to start around the road. Both sides had infinite buddy regens at the start; however, once two objectives were destroyed, the defenders were down to two lives as no further reinforcements could get through. We were the attackers and the group of about five of us who banded together after our dispersed drop decided to try to draw as many of the enemy as possible onto us rather than onto the team with the demolition specialist. This was successful as we spent a lot of the hour engaging much larger groups of the enemy and all targets were destroyed. After lunch, we played a fallback game, defending the road, then the castle area and, finally, the church. The enemy captured the road and the castle, but not the church. This was then reversed and we captured all three. We then played the reverse of the paratroopers game, with us as the defenders. I will draw a veil over this game, except to note that, despite some great play, we got walloped. It was a good, fun day with great play from both teams and no significant issues apart from my M4 deciding yet again not to feed from most of the magazines that it had happily fed from on Friday evening; it seemed to only like the PTS PMags. However, I have now modified some other mags that should now feed perfectly in it, although I suspect that it will still find a way to reject them. I also bought a cheap Double Eagle shotgun from the site shop and got a kill with my third shot from it; it shoots at 1J and has excellent range; great fun. 43. Went to The Gaol, Oakham for a private game at the weekend, the ARABS FB crew. I understand why it was on my "must visit" list. If you get the opportunity, go, do a game day. The admin block makes a fine safezone didn't hear a single dry fire (again didn't expect to-private day). Safety brief was to the point, expansive and humourous, Justin's "my playground, my rules" were always safety and play based. Crono: in jules....my BB slinger apparently shit itself at some point and wouldn't work. Thankfully my brother brought his spare- other wise I would have been on pistol all day (more on that later) Games, were "fun" let me expand - the long game they play is very much you get better the more you play, but I guess that's the same everywhere. I did really like the maps with objectives and timings for everyone, that makes a new to site player feel real welcomed. Back to long game - the stretcher they use is bloody heavy! Like, let's not bother with this for the whole morning heavy. We did move it to a kill zone just in case the blues did think about it. Inside, well, it was my first real cqb site and I have maybe played too many horror games 😂 all good fun, except g block, fuck that. But seriously amazing site, very well marshaled AND A MEATBALL ROLL FOR LUNCH! Best included grub at an Airsoft site ever. There were times I did in fact just run around with a pistol. For no other reason than I wanted to (long rifle was other option...) and I loved it. The new rig is great (arkus para style) and I didn't loose a mag for the 226, I did drop one right at the end of the day....new feed lips required. Over all a stunning day with the drive back being filled with nothing but smiles and a cheeky harvester for dinner. As we left my brother (who drove up from Portsmouth) was doing the maths on how early he would need to get up for the next trip up 🤣. Would 100% go again given half a chance.

  44. Another chilly, but dry day means it was a good day for me today. M700 is still shooting really, really nicely and I got a LOT of people as it was a pretty target rich environment with 90 players on site. First two games were brilliant, with me finding a few new angles to exploit with the sniper rifle, but by the end of the 2nd game I could see people getting frustrated. What this translated to was a snowball on both teams of absolutely laughable hit taking up to and after lunch. There was one guy who I kept picking off in the 2nd game, but after lunch I was watching my .48s bounce off him and he just ignored them, even after recoiling from the hit after I sent one into his cheek. Took cover behind the tree again and then started spraying around the corner. When you have days with hit taking like that, you've got to laugh it off; letting it get to you just ruins your day, so I don't let it get to me and just laugh at the ridiculousness of it. Also spent a little time setting up my SR-25, but while it was 1.17J with the hop off, when I applied enough to properly hop .32s the power was down to 0.63J (though it was floating the BBs out to a 50m target without issue), so I'll be sticking a bigger spring in it to get the power up to where it should be. Thankfully it's a quick change spring, so it's pretty easy to tweak. However, I wasn't feeling the mp7 today. It's an AEP, so it works in all weathers, but I just prefer pistols (including the NBB mk23) or GBB SMGs. I can't explain it, I just prefer pistols and they're a bit more manoeuvrable. That said, I didn't need to use the mp7 in game once today. Nobody got within my MED as when they pushed up I elected to bug out instead of staying and fighting. Falling back to another position and hitting them again is far more useful than staying in position and letting them swarm all over you, but it definitely takes it out of you. Just glad my fitness routine is paying off now as I'm able to play a bit more mobile (which is usually for falling back because if I'm advancing it's usually a slow crawl instead). Very much enjoying the m700 though. Definitely my favourite gun at the moment because it's silent, it feels like a real rifle as opposed to my VSR which definitely feels like a toy gun, and I can run it at either 2.3J or 1.1J and it works well at both powers (obviously with some hop adjustment). Roll on next game day, though what I'm really looking forward to is the first Vietnam game at Eversley in April!!!
