Welshplod have done this firearm-airgun armed nutter for an imitation firearms offence. https://www.walesonline.co.uk/news/neighbour-bangs-grandmothers-door-air-25182750 It's a very curious charge, since either FA S16A (or S19) cover firearms (which airguns are) or imitation firearms. https://www.legislation.gov.uk/ukpga/1968/27/section/16A On pure speculation, it may not have been functional, therefore not a 1J+ lethal barrelled firearm, so they went for imitation instead. But whatever the reason, he went guilty, and it's a Crown Court precedent now. Next time we have the whole "Akchyually, something can't be both a firearm and an imitation firearms, because that would make me feel bad in my feels", this is so getting cited.6 points

By ‘two tone people’ are you asking about VCRA compliant IFs which are generally called ‘two tone’? just the contrast of two different colours? or are you seeking the opinion of airsofting Ska fans? Black and Tan won’t qualify as VCRA two tone as the law specifies a set list of brightly coloured tones to be used as >50% of an IFs body Black and Tan would fit as ‘two contrasting colour tones’ Ska two tones would need to be black & white in perfect harmony2 points

So an update, over the past couple of months, I've slowly sanded off the original varnish and just about finished recoating. I used 3x coats of water based wood stain (Dark Walnut), then 3x coats of Danish oil. I picked up a repro butt plate and tarnished with some salt & vinegar, it's not perfect fit, but better than the metal one it comes with. Happy enough with it, it's far from perfect, but then that adds a bit of character 🙂 Original vs real steel Sanded Reoiled Butt plate2 points -

Well, well, well, firearms CAN be imitation firearms

Ditto, but there doesn't seem to be much about it. Cardiff Crown Court docket only lists the basic timeline of the sentencing on October 5th, and I can't find a record of the charges. It won't appear on BAILII since it's "only" Crown, and not contested. The thing is, I could easily see lazy journos (but I repeat myself) dropping the "imitation" from an imitation firearms charge to spice it up, but adding it in when it wasn't there to begin with seems vanishingly likely.1 point -

I think that the breech is open. I did think that it looked bent to the side in the clip though. Perhaps it's loose where it engages the breech? He is now in prison where no one will take the piss about him getting locked up for pounding a grandmother's back door. Since its claimed that he had lost his mind during the offence, the MHA states that secure hospital route should have been followed.1 point -
Thermal imaging
Tackle reacted to Emergencychimps for a topic
Thermal is cheaper than good night vision. There is the Leupold LTO tracker (few varients) that you can pick up from £300 ish, the Torres pine t 20 is good as well. You can also look at clip on thermal, giving a thermal overlay onto night vision as well, but you're looking 2.5k for that. Check out Scott country, they probably have info on options.1 point -

Colour Scheme Problem
Skullchewer reacted to Tommikka for a topic
As the desired effect has taken place, and the OP is a ‘youth of today’ and may not have had the benefit of an education in quality music by a knowledgeable mentor ….. Two tone is both a generic term for a genre of music and the primary record label responsible for nurturing British Ska bands and bringing in the occasional resurgence of the genre https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/2_Tone_Records The black and white branding was cheap and cheerful, as well as symbolising a firm British Ska value of black & white integration. This was based on Jamaican ska music arriving in the UK with 1950s Jamaican migration to the UK (and also merchant sailors bringing it home), Jamaican ska in the UK merged with local genres such as punk, new wave etc and also entwined reggae & ska The UK flavour gained further popularity with 2nd generation Jamaican immigrant and their British peers. It was particularly popular with the skinhead movement (which does not equate to the National Front types wearing the same fashion) At a ska gig you would find black & white skinheads, (plus the odd NF skinhead who may ‘tolerate’ the blacks at the gig, but kick their heads in the next day) This is England illustrates the taking over of skinhead styles by the National Front, with scenes between main characters referencing their younger days as close friends sharing parents Jamaican Ska then falling apart with the rise of the NF Here’s some two tone ….1 point -
Questions from complete newbie

Hello & welcome. All bar 4 - what's been said before. 4 - you might want to narrow 'south' down a bit, you'll get recommendations that will be useful then. There's a site list website but I can't think of it right now. Would heartily recommend you rent for a bit and get your UKARA (56 days ain't long). That way you don't spend a ton of cash and decide you don't like it, you also get to chat to other people and get advice on game days - you can always get an airsofter talking about their RIF, the challenge is getting them to stop 😂. Do all that and you'll have a much better idea of what you actually want to buy when the time comes to pull the trigger on your first RIF. Just don't spend all your money on kit & accessories before the 56 days is up!!1 point -

Ahah! The good ol' smash hit that was "Is This The Life", single of the week on BBC Radio 1 I shall enlighten you - Tim (Gawd bless 'im) referred to the mosh pit as the 'Pond' and we were all little fishes swimming in it.... so 'pondies'. If you've been to any Cardiacs gigs and bounced around in the mosh pit, you'll perhaps have bounced off me at some point! I was an active member on the Cardiacs chat list for most of its existence, and funnily enough the Tuvan throat singing was a very popular thing for a while. It's pretty damned cool, though I never really got into it.. bits of it give me some Dead Can Dance vibes (I was well into them for a while)1 point -

Interesting, yes. Also complicated and proprietary. Lots of innovative features but the "quick change mosfet" suggests they think it might be a consumable part! I like that it does stop on empty with regular mags but I can see the optical sensor failing and causing problems.1 point

Yes 2. I've never read Airsoft Action so I won't comment on that. AI I would touch with a bargepole as its mostly adverts and the "articles" were poorly written, often copied straight from Wikipedia or forums (often complete with typos and spelling mistakes). Also every review was more like a glorified ad with all products being given high marks, no matter what. For example a CA AK arrived for their review dead out of the box, but was still given 4/5 stars. In fact the only time I've seen AI give a remotely honest review was when the G&G L85 was released. It wasn't favourable and the next issue they published a retraction after the shop got in contact with them On a side note I've also personally seen some very unsporting behavior from their staff while playing so as far as I'm concerned they can fuck right off1 point -

I wanted a mandible for my helmet, and saw one dirt cheap on Amazon, that came with goggles that attached to it. I figured the goggles would be shite, with no rating specified in the listing, but thought what the hell, the mandible is exactly what I want, if the goggles suck it doesn't matter. Fixed it all onto the helmet, and fired some test shots at it from my QRF, at 20 feet, hopping.25s. To my surprise the goggles held up just fine, a few scratches but no buckling or dents. The mandible, however..... My own fault for buying cheap shit.0 points
