Everyday items that are good for airsoft
Ebeneezer Goode and 3 others reacted to rsciw for a topic
That's actually a good idea. Will keep some of those for future references / garden plinking My Tuxy has claimed the G36 for himself, and over the course of time various others too (and just in case: no battery in the G36, no BBs in barrel nor mag) In terms of everyday items, at least as a motorbiker, I have various "necktubes" flying around and found they come in quite handy wearing them gamedays too especially on days when it gets colder4 points -
Just fitted a rotary hop to (one of my rapidly breeding) G&G M 4s. ML and Omega.

Just fitted a rotary hop to (one of my rapidly breeding) G&G M 4s. ML and Omega. HT SHS motor and some cosmetics/ergonomics. The air seal seams fine judging by the consistency. Think I'll leave it there until it's time of the rattle can. The rest of the goodies can stay in their boxes for another rif.4 points -

Picked up these two to add to my weird ass collection. Got the ktw winchester in an auction and it needs a new safety but otherwise seems to work fine.3 points -

Tokyo Marui, are they always a safe bet?

I knew I missed a trick! All the pixie dust escaped from mine the moment I opened it..2 points -
I've got a tm m4s, plastic bodied & it's not missed a beat in about 17 years, not even "serviced", but I've got quite a few new cosmetic parts sitting around, metal bodies/keymod forends/rear stocks, so I thought I'd jazz it up with a makeover. But am I gonna fuck up the magic, essentially I'm just swapping over the internals in to something prettier, should I get one of these cabinets so that the tm fairy dust doesn't escape during reassembly 🤔2 points

Don’t diss the BBG4L stock Apparently it’s a sound investment, allowing you to get a more than 100% return after giving it a jolly good thrashing 😆1 point -

Krylon vs Halfords

I used halfords on mine with no issues. Seems as good as Krylon IMO. Coating it in matt lacquer will help protect the paint.1 point -

Phwoarr, haud me back. A top-quality "bundel" (sic, to quote BBG4L) of complete keech featuring keech splintery BBs, keech battery, keech firestarter charger and finished off in super dooper keech dayglo orange for additional keechness. Does it come wi' an instruction "manuel" (again, sic, cf. BBG4L, who's spelling is top quality like their RIFs)? Where's ma wallet...1 point -
Everyday items that are good for airsoft
RostokMcSpoons reacted to Ebeneezer Goode for a topic
Yep, plus one on necktubes/buffs/whatever, useful as a motorcyclist and as ad hoc basic face pro, "face covering" to satisfy the covid bedwetters, etc. Speaking of bikes, fell of mine yesterday, hit black ice just coming out of the village and that was me down. A bit sore and stiff today but otherwise OK. Bike trashed however. Bent handlebars, left peg and I suspect the gearbox is fooked as it can only select 1st or Neutral. That's airsoft pumped for next couple of weeks then. Nice cat pics must show the Mrs, she's cat daft. The kittens especially cute. Ooh I'm getting all gooey.1 point -

I picked up a new battle harness recently. so changed from a black Viper Skeleton harness to the Viper Battle Harness in multicam. And during Black Friday I spotted some big discounts on the Novritsch (sorry) modular suppressor and one of the rifle camo covers. The cover was so cheap I thought I'd see what it was like... not bad I think - it certainly breaks up 'black slab' of the top half of the gun1 point -
Early 2000s M4A1, Specna Arms, ICS, or E&C?
Ebeneezer Goode reacted to Spartan873 for a topic
I believe the outer barrel was steel actually, I remember watching a few reviews on YT before I bought it and I think that was something that they tried to push hard. They wanted it to sound as though it was made to mil-spec. I agree with you on the final product being the most important thing. I've seen cheap CYMAs have amazing QC and outperform guns that are 5 times as expensive. I'll always opt for solid rather than be a brand snob, got bitten once too many by that... *cough* TM HK417 *cough* My understanding about rebranding is that it usually occurs when a company owns the rights to a trademark but doesn't manufacture themselves. Like Umarex owns the HK licencing rights but VFC make the guns.. if that makes sense. And you're right about the OEM being important. I might have been unlucky with mine but I've had a few VFC weapons and the internals always caused issues in one way or another.1 point -

Yes indeedy Its a clone of the tokyo marui type 89 so a hell of a lot cheaper. It was sold under like 5 different company names but this one was listed as a tercel Also got a daewoo k2c1 on the way =D1 point -
Tokyo Marui, are they always a safe bet?
Paul72 reacted to Spartan873 for a topic
I found that TM are a safe bet providing you leave it alone. The old adage about "letting the magic out" really does apply to the AEGS but the pistols were always solid, albeit a bit light in the hands. That being said, QC for airsoft has gotten better across the board and now you have companies like CYMA and E&C who are starting to rub shoulders with the more established brands so unless you are looking for something specific that only TM do, it is worth looking at other brands as well IMO.1 point -
The way the receiver is put together it's really not worth upgrading you might as well mount the innards in a kinder egg.1 point

Metal CYMA Ak Magazine (mid cap) not fitting properly in LCT M70 Ak.
Nick G reacted to Tactical Pith Helmet for a topic
My CYMA AK mags dont fit a friends LCT. The thin lip on the LCT mags are prone to chipping. I believe that you can file to fit IIRC, but if you try it, use sandpaper rather than a file as a smidgen too much and they will be loose as hell. The CYMA mags leave the factory a trifle too thick for CYMAs sometimes. Couple of strokes of an emery board is sometimes required. If the spring in CYMA AKs mag release was a bit stronger, I wouldn't know as much about borrowing/fitting/bodging mags to fit tbh...1 point -
Will lose a bit of efficiency as the gas router for WEs are flat rather than curved like the TM. You can pick up a replacement rubber for a few quid and swap that out pretty easy.1 point

Strange FPS drop
Rogerborg reacted to Pewpewpetie for a topic
Managed to solve it, yes tried 2 X core chronos, using asg accuracy 0.3g. turns out inside the hi cap, where the BBS feed up there was a spur of plastic which was not allowing BBS to move freely. I stripped mag down and filed off the bit, now everything is fine. Many thanks for your input.1 point -
Early 2000s M4A1, Specna Arms, ICS, or E&C?
Druid799 reacted to Spartan873 for a topic
I had the E&C Platinum and I have the Specna Arms EDGE 2.0 and I can confidently say that the EDGE 2.0 is one of the best performing OG M4's out the box. Usual hop and barrel upgrades and you're pretty much there already. TM NGRS are good but as already suggested, only when you leave it the FK alone. Been burned by that mistake..1 point -

THE TM MWS thread
Cyberlawyer reacted to Argyld for a topic
I got my MWS some time ago, must have been a freshly hatched one, was quite small ... Read all 228 pages here (yes really) and found nothing about small MWS (except for some guys rebuilding theirs into short ones) Didn't want to send it back, so tried something: IT WORKED (insert evil scientist laugh ) (don't know why picture is upside down) Asking permission to join this exclusive club. Had not thetime to go out and play yet, but while reading this thread the MWS has quite grown on me 😁 (ok ok, I'll let myself out)1 point -
It may be true that high grade polymer bodies can be superior to the lowest quality 'metal' ones but I still prefer the weight and feel of cold steel pot metal 😄1 point

Most likely a bb blockage causing the piston to chew a little bit Is the Umarex the ones that are manufactured by VFC? if so the exterior wise you will struggle to find something as close to the real thing. Internals from VFC can always be a pain though1 point

if you're flush with cash then sure treat yourself to something new, but in general there's isn't a gearbox issue which can't be fixed with new parts and time etc. Your problem could be a number of things, slipping gears? ARL perhaps. Best thing you can do is make a little video of it firing and another one with a look inside at all the bits1 point
