They're 100% different companies. I went down a bit a rabbit hole recently looking into them, and this is "Double Eagle"... https://trademark.trademarkia.com/qap-87130106.html ... so their parent / real company is "Fujian Qing An Precision Machinery Manufacturing Co., Ltd.", with the QAP brand being big in Asia and to some degree labelled Double Eagle elsewhere. They OEM for a few other bigger name brands as well, but also make cheap nasty plastic guns for USA supermarkets which is where their bad reputation comes from. In the UK Patrol Base is the only place to really buy the M90X's from, and the price is fair as if you add in import duty / taxes on top of the prices from TaiWanGun the costs are practically identical. One interesting thing is that the metal bodied M906E is currently Β£10 cheaper at Patrol Base than the identical but polymer bodied M904E2 points

Will my webbing wobble?

I thank you all for your input to my buying decision, you've been kind and patient with an old man trying to save the pennies and ounces π I have now gone 'sod it' and bought a Viper tactical harness from my local online Airsoft shop's boneyard, it's black rather than the dark green I'd have liked, but for a tenner for a Molle belt I'm not going to be picky. I've also grabbed a super cheap universal belt holster to temporarily continue carrying my sickly HFC M92 (if I don't jump in for the TM Hi capa) for a game or two, which will let me test out the balance. Next I'll buy some Opsrey SA80 mag pouches as they're cheap as chips... And a utility pouch. Should be sorted, at least to the point that I'll know if this works for me! Edit: Purchased a couple of elastic strapped Osprey mag pouches, and one of those plastic shell m4 mag holders for my primary speedy access. My total outlay is now.... Β£31 For which I've got a Molle belt with v harness, fabric holster, 2 mag pouches and one mag holder. You might see it all on eBay in a couple of weeks πππ₯΄2 points -
Will my webbing wobble?

If you're only going to have 1 belt and if there will be times where your upper garment covers your waist area and you can't tuck in then obviously you can't use your belt loops, which is why a chest rig or a webbing type setup is good as you throw them on top of anything. Whether a simple military type of thick belt will bounce around on you without using belt loops will depend on the belt type, how much weight you put on it and where precisely you wear it. The materials of the belt and your clothing and your body shape will all dictate the amount of friction and hence the potential movement of a belt that's not anchored in place and nobody here can predict the end result given all the different factors. The MLE really is right around the lowest end of the budget spectrum in terms of what's actually good, especially since you'll need a modular rig to mount a holster and pistol mag pouches; common old school mil surplus is pretty much all setup for rifles because wars aren't fought with handguns. Surplus UK issued MTP pouches are cheap and you can just add some over time, get 1 or 2 a month type thing. The next cheapest thing down is to get just a surplus issue PLCE belt, they're mega cheap, tough as old boots and you can bodge together a rig and then tighten the whole thing around your waist (your actual waist narrow point not your hips) and it'll wobble a little bit for sure but will work. Securely retaining your pistol and mags will largely come down to using a decent holster and pouches more than the belt.2 points -
I am a big fan of my TM Aug high cycle. It's considered one of the better of the high cycle series. It outperforms any of my other stock rifles despite the low FPS. ROF out of box is impressive. It's fairly easy to take apart and work on, but I would grab some spare parts when you find them. I'm for the AUG if you like the look and feel of the platform. It's light in my mind and the weight in the back means it's much easier to carry then most rifles. Then again I like weird and wonderful and can put up with the quirks of something different.2 points

If you are serious about an AUG, It's worth pointing out a few of the flaws, Especially if you have been using an M4 platform. BB's get into the body on mag changes. With a bit of practice on mag changes you can reduce this. There are options to shim the magwell but it's not needed if you are confident splitting the body. You split invert the body and they just shake out. The hop unit is good, but it's also built in a different way to an M4 hop. It has to move on the screws that hold the hop to the outer. It's this sprung loaded action that help lock the upper to the lower. I cut my hop rubbers down a little and put the brass ring before the C-clip, as the brass ring in the standard position at the front of the hop unit can reduce the travel of the inner barrel/hop assembly. Some parts are impossible to buy. Magwell feed nipples, the gearbox trigger mechanism, Motor cage, and the trigger linkage. Be extra careful if you take any of those parts off. The rest of the gearbox is standard V3 bar the air nozzle. Some inner barrels are too thick. The inner barrel must move in the outer barrel. If you find your after market ones don't slide in without friction and stop the sprung loaded action working then you can't use it. AUG's are noisy. Your head and ear are over the gearbox and the body of the gun acts like a resonator. You can pack the body with foam to significantly reduce this. Mags are generally pretty cheap, I've never had a mag that didn't feed correctly even the cheapo battle axe ones. The MAG branded 170rnd mid caps are the best magazine, Good capacity, a bit more expensive but worth it. Whilst the battery compartment is small you can fit a 7.4v 2200mAh in there (you sometimes have to doctor the dividing plate to get them to fit). I use these in mine. https://www.componentshop.co.uk/7-4v-2200mah-35c-continuous-discharge-lipo-battery.html?___SID=U A perfectly built AUG will still have significant wobble between the upper and lower in comparison to an M4. You can fit a Mosfet in the gun on the inside of the dividing plate if you are clever with wire management.2 points

Who else has been keeping an eye on the driver wood Facebook page? The upgrades and money heβs ploughing into the site look ridiculous! Lights, sound system on top of a really nice looking safe zone and plenty of perks there. Got first night game (love a midweek game as I have to work a lot of weekends) and a Sunday coming up soon. Anyone make the night game last week? Really excited to check it out for the first time.1 point

Hi All, I used to play airsoft regularly back in the west midlands with First and Only about 8 years ago, but had to stop due to saving for travelling. I got all of my old kit out the other day and thought it might be time to get back into it, considering how much fun I had, always coming back home with a smile on my face! Looking at Reddit and this forum, it looks like a lot has changed since I started. Moved to north London last year and looking at sites, the nearest one looks to be Bunker 51 (Β£25 for 3 hours though, I'm used to paying that for a full day..!). I do own a car for the time being and would happily be given recommendations for good sites in and around the area. If anyone does play at Bunker 51 or any site nearby, and wants to have a "rusty rental" on their team, who doesn't take life or airsoft seriously and will laugh when they get shot, let me know!1 point

I'd imagine any half decent brand of 556 mag will be alright, but I'll let any G&G SA80 owners chime in. I like MAG, TM, G&P and PTS for magazines. Nuprol is a garbage rebrand outfit where everything is of unknown origin and it's all cheap - roll the dice every time. Just a heads up.1 point

Will my webbing wobble?
Tackle reacted to RostokMcSpoons for a topic
@strykerles do you wear that belt over the top of the jacket, or in through the belt loops, because that was kind of the crux of my initial questions... Whether there's enough stability on webbing when it's not connected to the trousers I'm liking the Bulle MLE harness more now I've realised it can carry multiple magazines on the inside pouches. I guess my only real complaint is that it will look a bit odd wearing it with no pouches on the outside! (The sniper belt was quite appealing but it's out of stock anyway, so that's ruled out)1 point -

I'm Sure Negative airsoft mentioned the brand in that video of branding he did a few months ago. 1:10:04 Aug's typically don't need a lot of attention, but they need the right attention. It's easy to make a good one bad by not understanding how the hop/body relationship works. Gearbox wise it's 2 screws and out very easy. You can put in a mosfet without needing to open the gearbox, and I think most JG's now come with quick change springs. I can have a gearbox out faster than on any other platform as there is no motor, selector, or pistol grip to remove. Typical of any AEG if it shoots well enough leave it alone until it breaks.1 point -

Iceni, you are surely an Aug guru, thanks for taking the time to write that. Now the problem is I am not an expert with the internals of any gun. I opened up my AK to downgrade the spring, and ended up losing a bushing. When I took it apart again to see if it was inside the gearbox, the trigger and gears fell apart to the point where I gave up and handed it over to the site tech. So if this is a gun that needs tender loving care, maybe it is not for me. Not yet at least! I just found Patrolbase have double eagles in stock, they're a bit pricey compared to the twgun prices (who isn't), I'm sorely tempted!1 point -

Jesus, no offense, but even for a scotsman you bring a whole new meaning to the saying "tight as a gnats chuff" π€£, yeah you do have to add some pouches to the mle but that doesn't have to be expensive, in the scheme of things it's actually a very sturdy good quality bit of kit for a bargain price, & will outlast a lot of the so called "gucci" more expensive items that players use. As for the belt order you've mentioned, that was actually marketed originally as a sniper set up, hence the fixed horizontal mag pouches on the rear, I've got one & while it's the typical bulle high quality, it has limitations in its use, which includes its very small amount of additional molle for customising your load out. The other thing is you've described yourself as "old & a bit chunky", or something like that, well as a fellow geriatric chunky monkey I can confirm the mle is not only a fairly lightweight base, it's also very adjustable & does a great job in hiding middle age spread lol. Way better than many of these micro style rigs that many players are using, they look horrific on anybody that weighs more than about 12 stone π¬1 point

No, there are loads of idiots like that. LARP as you like, it's all good. I have had issues with people in plate carriers genuinely not feeling hits though, I wouldn't encourage them.1 point

You can modify any AUG to have the semi only position, It's done with the removal of the plastic on the safe/selector bar. I think CA and TM come with it done as standard, but I'm a bit out of the loop now as I've not been keeping track over Covid. As for the TM HC, It's a nice gun, But all of the bonuses are in the gearbox. Absolutely nothing is externally different on them from a JG. A Bog standard JG A1/A2 with a couple of upgrades (Gears 13:1, Motor HT, Shimming, New hop rubber) can do what the TM does for half the price. The triggers can be greased and the springs stretched to make the trigger slightly better but it's a big linkage to move so it's never going to be amazing. Don't bother with the A3/A4 variants the front RIS is really heavy and makes them a lot harder to use all day.1 point

Get yourself a bulle mle, cheap, stable & enough molle for most setups but your back & upper part of your front isn't wrapped in sweat inducing nylon/cordura. As for the holster, get a serpa or imi, or one of the half decent knock offs for your chosen pistol, with a molle fitment, no more wobble, fast draw & pretty much guaranteed not to lose mags mid game, something very common with material holsters or sticking them in pouches. & yep, mle's & holsters do come up on the forums or ebay s/h at very good prices.1 point

I quite like that setup. Something I might experiment with - it would be easier to have a (smaller) battery on the goggles rather than use a wire to the back. Maybe one fan to suck, and the other to 'blow' to keep a constant flow of air from one side to the other?1 point -

I'm thinking of a couple of local sites which sunk vast amounts of time and money into developing themselves, then got kicked out without any warning or negotiation. One then relocated, built up a new site... then got kicked out again a year later. I really feel for site operators, they're at the mercy of land owners.0 points
