  4. You too? At The Stan a couple of years ago I was leaning around a bush, on uneven ground so one leg was outstretched and the other scrunched up, which stretched my kecks tight across my arse. Someone had managed to creep pretty close without me noticing... an actual double tap to the anus. Literally the bum hole. After day 2 I stopped eating. At the time it got nothing more than a grunt from me. I mean it hurt, but it was more of a surprise than pain. Maybe it was just because i was well adrenalised... The game was a "Blackhawk Down" defend the chopper game (although the chopper was left to our imagination) - a small area with limited cover and the opposition given free reign across the courtyard to attack from approx 120 degrees of approach, with 2 snipers on the roof of the building opposite at whom we could not return fire (because the site is surrounded by active businesses and houses so you can't shoot up as BB's could leave the site) - so it was pretty hectic! Anyway, by the time I got home it was sore. After the 1st crap it was very sore. Later that day i bought some haemorrhoid (and try spelling that without recourse to google) cream. After the 2nd crap I decided i didn't want to risk a 3rd until it had healed a bit :'( Yeah, it's funny. Even I find it funny now. By day 2 after the hit it was really not funny. As it happens I often wear a custom bum-rig which is a waterproof pad hanging from elastic straps from my belt, to put something i can sit down on no matter the terrain, because i have a medical condition which causes a lot of pain in my extremeties - sometimes i just have to sit to get off my feet. Didn't think i'd need it in a CQB venue. When I 1st started wearing that a few people took the piss. A few people asked about it and although they didn't say anything I could tell they thought i was mental. I used to say "you'll all be wearing them soon". If you look at pics of Russian SF these days... yeah, they have them. Russian Army Sitting Mat SPOSN

Right, I know I always play 'that guy' on these threads, but just to clear a couple of things up for people... I know you're probably talking in 'practical' terms here, just just for clarity it is not illegal to own a RIF, as you point out, but it's not illegal to buy one either, so what you need a defence for, legally speaking, is selling, manufacturing or importing. 'Regular skirmisher' is technically not a defence either; I could 'skirmish regularly' on my mate's land but that wouldn't qualify me for a defence. The wording of the actual 'airsoft defence' does not include 'regular' or 'skimish' in it at all. Which leads me onto: This is true in relation to the original VCRA 2006, but a defence to be used by airsofters was added in a later related document ('VCRA 2006 Regulations 2007') due to lobbying from groups like the UKARA (and since most airsoft cannot be said to be 're-enacting'). The wording of the defence that was 'made for airsofters' is that you can sell, manufacture or import a RIF if you are providing it for: "the acting out of military or law enforcement scenarios for the purposes of recreation" and that this will take place at a site with third party liability insurance. That's how vague it is. Good stuff.

  15. No, I've made the decision to break with Russian design for the stock specifically so that I can have an extendible one - I have long arms and stock length is something that bugs me about a lot of guns. The only one I have which fits me comfortably without obvious modification is on Jetta my G36KV - Svetlana the SVD has 40mm of oak attached in place of her butt plate - Sabine my CM.028U has a random piece of rubber which i think fell off a car taped to her her foldible stock (but it could do with being thicker) and Morena my CM.048 has one of those Element rubber butt pads, which again could do with being thicker. I've got 3 RPK-74 midcaps and 1 hicap, but I don't want that long look, or the restriction it creates on aiming while prone. The idea for this build is 'solid but sleek'... I don't actually have any RPK mag pouches mind. I'm going to buy at least 1 double modern RPK pouch soon to carry a spare tube mag for a PP-19 Bizon as a sniper back up, so I spose I should go ahead and buy at least 1 more (the PP-19 is coming with 4 mags though so in theory i need 3 double RPK mag pouches) because I intend to find out what is stopping Phatima AKS-74U from feeding BB's properly and begin using her as a primary again. TBH, if there was a way to do it without building the whole gun from scratch out of sheet steel and aluminium blocks, with a CAD set up and CNC mill, I'd love to have a horizontal drum mag, like that yank submachinegun with the ridiculous ROF, so all modern looking, not like a Lewis Gun. Don't worry about hijacking the thread, Straff - your gun is not too dissimilar so it makes sense to share a thread on their builds. As i said above, my main reason for this thread is to get opinions and the more options we consider between the 2 guns, the better afaiac. Eventually I'll be choosing internals as well, so it'll be a resource for anyone who wants to build funky AK's. Are you planning any internal upgrades also? I do quite like that top cover, although I would put a short rail on it, possibly riveted on to reduce the size of the bit inside, to leave more battery space, because 11.1V LiPo's don't go under AK top covers without a bit of persuasion as is - no need to make it smaller with nuts and bolts. I've only recently started using red dot sights properly and i'm hooked - it is a better way of target acquisition than what i tend to do which is watch the trajectory of the BB over the irons and correct for the next shot. Monty, thanks for doing that, mate Is there any way you could do a similar mock up using the LR300 stock and a drum mag?

  24. That's not standardised, my local site operators run a woodland site and a CQB site with the same fps limits; 368fps for full auto and sidearms, 500fps for both DMRs and bolt actions. Everywhere else I've played has been 350 for CQB, never actually encountered a 1j limit anywhere before. I've also heard from some people that there are sites that allow bolt actions up to 550fps. But the basic point I was making is that fps restrictions aren't standardised.

More stuff for me: G&P Metal Body, Steel Top Cover & Saw Style Grip f/ AK - $53.00 King Arms Enlarged Lever AK Trigger Guard - $2.00 King Arms 150% Recoil Spring & Hammer Spring for WA Infinity - $2.00 (looks handy) Milspec Monkey Bunny Girl - $2.00 Milspec Monkey Gothy Girl Pirate - $2.00 +$8-odd Shipping from UNCompany They are having a sale on some decent kit so well worth having a look, even though their order process isn't as straightforward as just click 'Buy' - you have to wait for their confirmation email. I bought those springs just because they look like they might be useful eventually and for 2 dollars, may as well... C.M. Aluminium Long Fore Grip (DE) - $21.00 LCT Bakelite Effect Pistol Grip f/ AK-74 - $15.00 (look at this ) -$3.00 Discount for using PayPal + Shipping = Total $43.70

    First Aid

You should not carry a tourniquet for airsoft!. A torniquet ("Combat Aplication Tourniquet" or otherwise) is for managing major haemorrhage caused by vascular damage, uncontrollable by direct pressure to the site. In reality this equates to a few very specific situations, namely traumatic amputation or partial amputation (including blast trauma) of a limb, and Penetrating trauma to a limb. Can be as a result of blunt trauma, Sharp trauma (stab wounds) or ballistic trauma. The evidence coming out of recent conflicts have noted that CATs significantly increased the mortality rates of blast trauma victims, mainly IED and ground level shrapnel discharges. Soldiers that have their legs shredded by shrapnel and multiple vascular injuries can bleed out very quickly, and with that type of injury there is more than one wound to dress, so the only way to stop the haemorrhage is to isolate the limb. Complications can lead to nerve damage at best, but will inevitably lead to a loss of the limb and a build up of potentially fatal toxins as the cells start to necrose. If a CAT is released incorrectly then it is a death sentence! In airsoft we should never ever be in a position where any of these injurys are a legitimate risk to need to carry one. If you ever do find yourself in a position like this then you need to get onto 999 and move the patient to a suitable assess point for the ambulance crews.

    First Aid

In a small grenade pouch I carry a small ziplock bag that contains a little bit of everything from my main first aid kit. The main first aid kit lives in my car unless I am going kayaking/Canoeing/Skiing/walking when it will move to the pack or drybag I use for the particular activity. I have had first aid training, plenty of it and even competed in cadet first aid competitions and taught bits years ago, infact when I did the 4day first aid at work qualification ( now 3 day as far as I was aware) I even had to teach the woman leading it how to apply some of the dressings she was asking us to apply because she didn't have a clue. On my last one, a simple 1 day course I showed the guy teaching us about using the inside of sterile dressing pouches as an improvised one way valve to apply to lung puncture wounds. I would never rely on a site having a first aid kit near me. I play some pretty big sites and you cant guarantee the marshal is either trained or is actually carrying the first aid kit with them. In one case I know the site keeps the kit in the safe zone which is a good 10mins round trip from the back end of the play area. I can deal with minor stuff, cuts and grazes right up to lacerations but this kit is only stocked to temporarily stabilise until someone else gets there with the a full kit, like a paramedic or the site team with their uber kit. I really ought to weigh it but I know its far less than a fully loaded high cap so I barely notice it. I've not been trained to use a tourniquet in a while and its not something I'm totally familiar with using so its not carried and I was under the impression they had fallen out of fashion for every day first aid anyway, but I have the bits to make one on my kit with some bodging if the situation called for it. But one addition to my mini first aid kit is a small tube of eye wash, for those times people get crap in their eyes. As for defibrillators, most first aid courses as far as I was aware go through their use, and the ones people can access out and about nowadays actually do all the work for you, its a case of following the stupidly easy picture instructions and doing what the voice tells you, it makes the decision of when to shock and how much so you actually don't need any training.

  34. You can put the Russian tourniquet on the skeleton stock, that would look authentic. That could even hide some weights if that's needed. My problem with the AK beta that it has never been a real gun. If you use a plastic body, only you will know it's plastic. I've seen many ppl taking a cyma AK in hand, examining it, and they couldn't decide if it was metal or plastic. If you even paint the gun then even better. I only had a pbs-1 once. There is a "metal" and there is an aluminum version of it. The "metal" is extremely heavy, while the alu is really light. Maybe try getting a suppressor made from some lighter material, I don't know if you have that choice with the pbs-4.

  35. Looks a good project Ian! That HM/CM stock looks the db's! Personally I think I'd go for that on looks alone, just looks so badass! May be lacking in weight though, and I've no idea how rigid it would be, but that goes for any sliding stock in fairness. As it folds to the left there could be issues with it interfering with a side mount rail, but you'd have same issue with the LR 300 stock too probably. That Tanker style stock looks good too but again the sliding rails could well interfere with holding the pistol grip, assuming its wide enough to clear the pistol grip/receiver to start with, and maybe it just looks a bit too "complex" for a Soviet gun? I know what you mean about disliking crane stocks, but what about an ordinary original M4 stock? You could stuff the stock tube with weight too to counter the suppressor, and it looks simple and functional as befits a Soviet style gun. Tbh I wouldn't use one of those folding grips for 2 reasons, firstly they are aren't very rigid in the vertical position, and second that big bolt head release digs into your hand badly, frankly they are uncomfortable, I had a very similar one on a tactical AK and it very quickly got relegated to my bits box. That skeleton grip looks just the ticket however imo. With the short sight radius I agree a red dot would be a good idea, if the top cover is solid enough that's where I would put it in an ideal world rather than ahead of the top cover, but it could mean a bodge to fit a rail on there. If a Galil top cover would fit, that has a small flat mounting area at the rear which could be utilised for either a dot, or even irons if something the right height could be found. Anyways just my thoughts, also inspiring me to get the stock on my own hybrid AK sorted!

  36. Didn't read it all, as I got bored halfway through, but I think the gist of it is 'Hey I want to make an AKS-74U with this fancy suppressor, which stock and other bits should I use?' I would question why you are wanting the really heavy suppressor because it looks all cool and Russian and then adding an M4 style stock? But thats just me preferring looks over function Had you considered making a mold of the suppressor and then making one out of lighter material? Could you fit one of these into a cut down wooden stock in some way? It would add the weight and look frickin awesome.

  38. I imagine if a bb got a solid connection with an actual bollock it'd hurt a fair bit but I've only ever had a bit of sack contact which isn't that bad. With a couple of layers it's nothing to worry about. You have to be very unlucky or in something of a dubious position to get a proper smacker on a knacker. Maybe I'm over thinking it a little...

Went to first skirmish Sunday, and people were wearing all sorts. Genuinely made little to no difference. Everyone could be seen in the sunshine in the main. Those I didn't spot were well hidden and few/far between. Hidden because of where they were rather than what they were wearing. From my POV it's clothes I'm happy to scuff up etc, and look the part a little, rather than hide up with...
