Another decent day at the very-CQB Biohazard.  High intensity, not too much faffing around between games, and generally fair and good natured play.

The newer upstairs area is great, with a killhouse maze in the middle that saw the bodies piled like cordwood. I'm surprised they don't make more use of that floor.

The usual complaints regarding marshalling.  Too much generic lecturing at briefings, too little enforcement in game.  I got cheat called by a gobby grenadier who was adamant that I wasn't behind hard cover and so he must have got me.  Every time I shot him, he came back and had another shouty moan about it.  Unaware that there was a marshal standing right next to me who'd told me not to take his grenade hit.

Funny up to a point, but she could hear him cheat calling and didn't do anything thing about it.  Don't say it if you're not going to enforce it.

Another BRILLIANT day at Red Alert. Lots of kills, lots of deaths, LOADS of laughter. Great marshalling, great hit calling. I bloody love that site. No two days are the same, as they change up game modes often, thanks to the size and layout of the site.
I highly recommend Red Alert Newbury if it's within your travelling distance.
Also, Sneaky is a damn good shot with his DMR!!

Back after six weeks, and what a day to come back to! New summer ghillie with the silence of HPA is outstanding, we had timed respawns on the same point (one team spawns for a few minutes, then the next) and I sat against a tree as the other team came up behind us, taking out five or six from 10-15m away before one finally decided to come my way. And I found a nice spot on four base domination with only a minor amount of nettles, but got a few kills from there. The VIP escort in the afternoon was great fun, we actually had a similar idea @Impulse but we only waited at the top of the ridge, and had control for a bit before we realised we were surrounded 😧 Great gamemode though, I hope they do that again. We did a CTF game but you first had to get your flag from the opponents base, and I think the marshals underestimated how hard that would be. I almost got stepped on though so for me it was a bit of a win 😁

Right after that VIP game the teams went off to their spawns for the next game mode, and blues thought we were a bit light of players as a few had left. 16 of about 30+ from the start of the day. We asked for a headcount of the yellow team, and if they only had a couple more we weren't too worried. They still had 30 people left!😂 So yeah teams got a little rebalanced for the last few games. I had a fantastic medic in one of the last games. We were holding a base, other team pushing us hard and I get taken out in my spot behind a tree. I noticed a guy had pushed right up to our line and had pretty good sight on me so a medic was risky. So my friend sprints over and we drop as low as we can, the guy has 100% noticed this and is moving over to us. Right as I get my armband back on and yell "Back in" I draw my pistol and round the tree to see where he is, and the poor guy asks for a surrender while I have my pistol on him at basically point blank. NO MERCY I SAY! And don't try to surrender kill someone from the front 😂 the marshal enjoyed the hell out of that one!

What a great day though, teams were even throughout, even on the VIP when we were down a few. HPA is lovely and quiet, just need some adjustment to get more consistent but I'm pretty sure I know why that is.

I love airsoft

Yep. I know that a lot left after the VIP game because fighting up that hill takes it out of a lot of people. We got rebalanced over to blues though we weren't given armbands, so we were just no bands. Everyone was told that the 6 no-bands were blue, but that didn't stop me almost getting friendly fired in the back of the head. Lucky I saw the guy and dropped into the stinging nettles (no way any airsoft gun is punching through those nettles behind outpost... but I'm still suffering for it!) so my friend shot him, said "he's on blue you know" and then I went over and medic'd him :P

21h event this weekend.

It was supposed to be rather easy, basically no elevation and not too many kilometres to hike, turned out to be hell on earth. 35° temperature, not a single cloud and stupid high humidity levels meant I got a sunstroke and had to stop after about 6 hours and roughly 20 kilometres done.

Another teammate had developed huge blisters on his feet so we slowly hiked another 3km back to the safe zone. Teammate was done and I thought I was too so I packed my bag and tried to plan for the remaining of the time (communicate with the rest of my team and see how I could help them).

Night comes and the rest of the team gets back to the SZ to resupply, have dinner and head out for the night phase, at this point another teammate had some issues (horrible rash on his head and forearms, we thought it was an allergy but instead it was a chemical, more on that later) so I joined back in his place. Night phase was okay, we split in two and my group (2 people) had to recon two spots, so we headed out into the woods where we had to sneak past a well lit objective because we took a shortcut. The other group (2 people) set off for a couple of sabotage objectives. After our recon sortie we went back to the SZ, slept for 2 hours and, at 5 AM, woke up to assault the last objective, then went back to SZ, had a quick breakfast, packed and went home.

Kit considerations:

Kit makes or breaks your loadout, in this case I should have done an entirely different thing:

Helikon TMR works well on Sunday skirmishes but lacks the comfort for longer, 8 hours + events, next time I'll use the mayflower or smersh;

The backpack I used has too thin shoulder straps, so at one point it started digging in my shoulders, also it's weird shaped so despite being 20 litres, it felt like 10;

The new Claw Gear pants are fucking brilliant! Very, very comfortable though I might need soft knee inserts;

3 litres of water were *barely* enough before I got sick and had to go back, I need at least one extra litre, at least for summer;

Need to bring a sleeping bag and pad with me, leave them in the car and use them to rest, I don't mind sleeping on the ground in summer but I woke up drenched in condensation from my poncho.

Overall not a great experience, if the event was done in winter/early spring I would have enjoyed it way, way more.

Also, while I was at the SZ, I saw at least three ambulances going in and out, turns out some people had it much, much worse than I did.

I had the worst of luck and the best community experience since getting back into airsoft this weekend.

So, let’s get the worst out of the way. I’ve been trying to get the backup gun I bought on here a few weeks back working properly and have had it either delivering very low FPS or just not feeding, this weekend after playing about with the hop it was firing a little better FPS but only 268 tops, but the bloody thing just WILL NOT feed. Ah well, not to worry, back to the faithful Tippmann AEG, get to chrono and nothing. Dead as a bloody doornail. After much arseing about one of the Marshalls gets the soldering iron fired up and we try to repair the knackered connector, after burnt fingers and much swearing the soldering is done, then we notice the connector is actually broken as well. Brilliant.

Thought we had the backup gun running and I had a pistol just in case, one pistol mag fills, the other at that very moment spits its dummy out and leaks like I’ve never seen one leak before! Unreal. So now I’m down to a single pistol mag and an unreliable gun. Things then get worse, unreliable becomes bloody useless and does sweet FA in terms of firing BBS. Basically my weekend was done within 5 mins of game one. I thought I’d just do what I could with the pistol once I’d stashed the M4 away.

Back at the safe zone I have one of the guys who was over from Northern Ireland to play come over for a chat (Crowsniper), asked me about where spawns are etc as he’d not played here before. He asks me why I’m in the safe zone, and I explained the utter shit show that was my morning. The absolute legend then beckons me over to his table and says he’s got me covered. Pulls out a very very pimp looking Krytac Kriss Vector that he’s just finished building and tells me to go and have some fun. This thing was insane, rate of fire and range were both absolutely unreal, he’d done a massive overhaul and upgraded and it REALLY showed, it was like playing a different game to my usual weekends.

Had an awesome game, the Krytac turned the game around for my side on a couple of occasions providing some great covering fire and firing further than one of the snipers we were with.

Was very impressed that a guy who’d never met me before was happy to entrust an expensive and very cool bit of kit to me after a 5 min chat. Top lad, shout out to James AKA Crowsniper for being a great example of what the airsoft community should be and is (sometimes).

Oh and now I have 2 non working guns to get sorted…….

Had a good, if sweaty game yesterday at Reforger.  In the first half I went out with the M4/acog and did quite well, getting some good kills and heroic deaths. Did get my hand shot up after calling hit at one point ('Hit! Hit! Fuck off please! Thank you!'), and there were quite a few complaints about non-hit taking, beyond the usual dull roar of complaints at any game, though hit taking and active marshalling seemed to improve towards the end of the day (culprits possibly identified and had a word with?).

Saw more equipment failures than usual - probably the weather making people a bit clumsier - I lost the rear sight off my pistol, another players trigger disintegrated, a broken sling for someone else, and some galoot with cat ears broke @GAMBLE's scope cam (any joy with fixing that yet dude?).

2nd half I went out with the P90/seeall sight, and despite finding the mags a bit clumsy and not the hi-caps I'm used to, had a great few games. One particularly good moment was when I'd pitched up in some woodland between a track and the field that we were guarding, squatting in a bundle of nettles with just the top of my head peering out. Had to wait a little while before someone came down that way to flank us, but once they did I managed to take out two separate groups of 4/5 players a few minutes apart. No one expects a guy in a gillie suit with a P90 😉

Going to one more game there next month to get my UKARA sorted, and after that will probably spread my wings a bit and try a few other sites for the next few sessions (maybe some CQB?), though I will definitely be back because I like the site and it's very close by.

Red Alert again yesterday, with @Sneaky
Great sportsmanship all day, and really excellent hit taking all round. Was chatting to the staff afterwards and I commented on this, and they confirmed there had been one complaint throughout the day, and that was a bout a rental kid who didn't know hand shots counted (Really mate?)
And the vein in my head was about ready to pop from running around in the heat.

I do wish there was more mil/filmsims in the Democratic People's Republic of Caledonia, as I agree that themed is far more rewarding than random skirmish days.  Doing half a day's travel (there and back) to get to events Doon Sooth is a bit too much of a gamble for me though.

Amazing game again at Diggers Namsoft themed game in Kent.  A little down on numbers perhaps this year and a small decline in green machine players.  A shame that work and weddings seem to clash with the important things in life!

Anyhow, arrived on Friday feeling wiped out due to lack of sleep, but soon felt good relaxing with mates old and new.  |Met a few new faces at their first game.  I did wonder if a whole weekend of airsoft would stagger them but they were young and full of vim as they used to say.  Bloody good relaxed night around the campfire was a good way to start a game weekend I think.

Day one and each of three Aussie squads were put together.  Each was given a particular mission.  Ours was to patrol an area and search for VC.  This was a win on their part as we never found them and they completed their objectives.  We did keep busy and tbh, we needed the time to get into the swing of things.  A shake up run was important to get people into roles within the group.  It took a few minutes to get us all in order of march and to work out who was best point or tail end Charlie.  The odd firefight with rapidly disappearing foes kept us alert to say the least.

After three quarters of an hour, we were rushing out to fights on the Land Rover, being RPG’d, ambushed, and counter ambushing.  It was spectacular fun and pretty exhilarating.  The vehicles and array of weapons was excellent.  I realised that I had a good kill to death ratio at one point, only to get marmalised for the next few fights.

The afternoon was started with sounds of rockets and large flames as a simulated plane downing took place.  Now we had a race to the crash site with the VC arriving first and putting up stiff resistance as they withdrew with both black box and pilot.  Won the battle but lost the fight…

A break for evening meal, and we were back in base at 7 o clock.  As darkness fell, we had been frustrated by countless /VC sqauds appearing and having to be chased and (occasionally) engaged.  The whole damn lot of them then attacked.  Seriously, the night games at this event and Arclight have been the absolute best I’ve ever played.  Really pulse pounding stuff and only luck denied the VC victory.  A couple of grenades a few feet further and they would have overrun us easily.  As it was I was not taken out until someone jumped atop the bunker I manned.  Not sure if they did get my shirt sleeve with their pistol, but the audacity and speed that they showed were impressive and I took the hit whatever, sat back and watched the fight unfold as best I could.  The landmines hidden at the base entrance gave couple of players a loud surprise.

Another night under canvas and one of the best things about airsoft was evident.  I had a few beers with a chap I would never have normally met, but which revealed a similar life in similar family and work circumstances a mere continent away; eye opening stuff and another face to add to the people to have a beer with.  Swapping home cooked food was good too.  Went to bed full of single malt, aged brandy, fine cigars and top notch grub various corners of the world.

Sunday was a raid on the VC camp to retrieve both box and pilot.  A most intense firefight that lasted almost two hours left us exhausted and hot but victorious.  It also left us embarrassed as several people had left and the VC were only about a third of our number…

I’ll resist the temptation to bang on any more.  I had a seriously good weekend again, with top notch players, no no hit calling, arguments or any other unwelcome bollox.  A full twelve hours or so full on airsoft with vehicles, fireworks, mines, RPGs, a tight rule set and good playing standards, and had good time after game pigging out with friends.  Top quality and I can’t wait until the June game at Eversley.   I prefer a top quality game weekend once a month with the odd day skirmish to the fortnightly skirmish that I did for years.  More sites, better playing standards and a great social.

Another cracking day at Red Alert. As @Skullchewer said only one person there was an issue with taking hits. Left my SCAR H at home, so I would have to use the SR25 all day. Got some cracking shots and liked supporting players when needed. With some team work we took out some snipers, which is alway nice.

@Skullchewer did you take this photo? The calm before the headshot storm.

The state of the roads locally means four five hour day time drives are usual for me.  Driving through the night I can be in Glenn Coe in eight.  Having to wait to pick up mates after work for games and then driving Friday evening is crap tbh.  If I go on my own I leave at 3am and have a kip in the van on arrival.  Bloody big gamble to play somewhere the first time with a journey like that, which is why I like playing themed games as different sites get the same group of players, and word soon gets out about badly run days.

There were players from The Wash, Leicestershire and somewhere Oop North to judge by their accents this weekend.  Couple of lads from Wolvo regularly play themed games there too.

Today it was no hit takers day and overkill day as well as some shenanigans with one player I suspected of having an unregulated HPA and causing 8 to 10 players to leave the game site.

Two blemishes are defo 0.2's in a RIF that is chrono'd to spec, that is very clear and what I expect to see when I come from a game that has been played with players following the rules.

The other three and I have about 35 of them all over me, shots from further than the others I took, left me with those bleeding welts which is not what airsoft is about. Had they been really close shots like within 20ft, I'd expect a 0.2 to leave a bigger mark. To be clear on this, I had a long sleeve'd top on.

I suspect that the guy concerned was using 0.25's or 0.28's for something like those. To make it clear to the morons in the room, its twatish play like that--that sends the kids home to be never seen again and how is the sport to grow if you have morons intentionally taking the piss and driving away the new intake..? I have noticed a big drop in numbers of players recently as the regulars and myself agree that there are a few rogues players who pop up from time to time and you get this kind of game play that ruins the fun.

There was a guy who took a point blank hit to the arm, twice by a guy that could have just as easily have hit the guy in his plate carrier.

There was one guy kept on taking hand shots, aiming to hit you on your hand and I got hit several times, luckily the gloves took the brunt. One guy ended up with an injury to his hand and it was very nasty, defo a hospital trip that one

There is beginning to be too many twats who just don't understand what fun is and that when they turn up, its off putting to people and they are the problem in the sport, not those complaining about fair game play, these guys tend to be the non-hit callers / takers, I popped a few guys dead centre of body mass and they carried on game play regardless.

So this weeks game was a lot of angry players wondering who it was... Put it this way, by half time we'd lost 8 players because of this one twat.

Excuse the rant but I think it needs pointing out to the morons in airsoft as they just don't get it, they are hurting the sport, not taking part in it... they may like to get hurt as part of their fun package and others hurt people back, that doesn't mean that its OK, especially when there are rules for good reason.
