  4. I got into it because a mate was playing, dragged us out for the day and that was that. Hooked. I take my eldest along and one of his mates too. My eldest is a cadet and a few of his fellow cadets also play. It's kinda infectious.? He's properly found his inner officer as If I lose him on the field, I just stop and listen for a gobby 13 year old barking orders at grown adults or if not that, listen for the highest fire fight. Hell be in the middle of it! I think the games consoles have an influence too. He wanted a p90 because it was cool on COD784 or whatever it's up to now and realistically they all do the same thing, so why not. I even made him a riot shield which he sports along with his m92 and has a scream. The under 18's day we do (apocalypse 249 on a Saturday) is usually packed with the whole spectrum. The rentals having their first go to the mummy's boy with the Gucci gear and no idea. Also in agreement. "Old fart slow soft" is my speed. Tactical walking. ??

    Hi New to the Forum!

Hi everyone joined the Forum for information and to meet others involved in airsoft. At the moment I have 2 Snow Wolf AEG M41A Pulse Rifles, one I have modified cosmetically to better represent the Alien 3 Weyland Yutani Commando black version (upgrading to full GBB at a later date) and the second one a Colonial Marines version I will be converting to full GBB retro-fitting a WE-Tech Thompson M1A1 and also a APS Remington CAM 870 AOW into the Snow Wolf. Both of the Snow Wolf's plastic SPAS cages will be replaced with metal replica SPAS 12 cages (also cloned slider grips) and also the barrel cages will be swapped out to replicate the screen used ones, eventually I will be replacing the plastic shrouds with either cast or pressed alloy ones! If anyone on here has done this AEG to GBB conversion I would appreciate any information, help or suggestions? Cheers Andy

  6. Because you can never have enough US Woodland and ALICE! Greetings from the 55th! I've attached some pictures of our team from the Filmsim event - Red Mist 4: Operation Hirta. Most of the team are running the LBV88 vest along with a standard ALICE belt set-up and US Woodland! Hope you like. Cheers Above photos from Chris Thomas Photography

  7. Why? Define significant money? A secure system, hosting and handling processes are required. That costs money. But why ‘significant’? GDPR does not prevent the sharing of personal information - in fact, as any system designed to form a VCRA defence would require some form of sharing to function then it would be a GDPR breech to not share information collected for the purposes of sharing the validation of a defence. It does require the security of information collected and to only share the appropriate information in the appropriate manner eg Collect suitable information to justify a defence, receive a query to validate a defence, share appropriate information back and forth with appropriate parties Eg request for defence number 54321, Joe Bloggs, 1 the Avenue, New Town Result confirmed

  9. @superwok I know you got it sorted via the just-cos route, however did you not try to ask any retailers if any other forms of defence were acceptable? You've got 110 posts on this forum, have been a member for 5 years, visit regular and have 100% feedback, that should be enough to confirm. As @Dan Robinson also states, social media posts / photos also another good. The IT ex-colleague of mine who's still looking at a defense system (has a fair bit of it built) was thinking about putting in supporting material for defence, how it will work in the system I don't know but seems a legit idea.

  10. Cool story, but I don't see an offence there. It's a long stretch to show intent beyond a reasonable doubt, and it's not like rapscallions can't figure out that they can apply some best Poundland spray paint to their day-glos, for fair purposes or foul. I very much doubt there's any policing of RIFs now, at least within the UK's borders. There are retailers openly flaunting the VCRA with joke non-defences like JustCos, or techs posting videos documenting that they're building Section 5 firearms. Nobody is bothered... until some cause célèbre will inevitably result in the State getting very bothered.

    Hi New to the Forum!

Hi here is my Snow Wolf AEG Weyland Yutani Commando M41A Pulse Rifle, the upgrades are mostly cosmetic to represent the Alien 3 screen used prop, the Thompson and dummy grenade launcher will both be converted to full GBB in the near future! My next project is to convert my Snow Wolf Colonial Marines to full GBB and I will hopefully start a build and upgrade thread if someone please can tell me in which section I should start the thread??

  21. Having browsed classifieds for a month, is there a reason for the upsurge of the "Vorsk" GBB pistols recently? Both RIF and two-toned. I get that every UK retailer has a quota with them, but they seem to be sold 2nd hand everywhere compared to say, WE pistols.

  22. £90 even split for each of the for slightly scuffed pistols when you can get them at retail from £105-£130 unscuffed with some peace of mind. Optimistic.

  28. I was hoping it would make my son realise that in the army you only get shot once.....compared to how many respawns he had to do on a typical skirmish day. Don't mind him signing up to learn a skill/trade and serving that way. I don't want him being Cannon fodder for whatever cnut has managed to persuade an alarmingly small proportion of the population to put them in power....when was the last truly justifiable armed conflict we were involved in (outside of local peacekeeping)? The Falklands.... maybe the first Gulf War (the first part liberating Kuwait). No criticism of those serving....it's the ones hiding behind their power I despise for taking advantages.

  29. Airsofters gonna airsoft ????. Drawing todgers in the frozen stream at AWA was a fun way to warm up the pews whe. It was -6 a couple of Christmas' ago. Also fun chopping down ferns, brambles and stinging nettles "for the greater good".

  32. I have seen people sent home for shooting out of bounds after clear warnings about not doing so, deliberately taking out a hot gun, letting off a round in the safe zone (that was an interesting one), smoking weed in the lunch break, and repeated non hit taking despite warnings.

  33. I'd say airsoft is way more accessible than in the past and far more mainstream than ever. With the rise of social media companies are able to reach a far greater audience including those who might not have heard of airsoft. The same applies to youtubers. Compare this to 20 years ago when the only online places for airsofters was a couple of forums similar to here. Costs are comparably lower as there were no clone companies so your choices of manufacturers was pretty much TM, Classic Army or ICS and magazines were £25 - £30 each

  34. It's OK, we won't hold it against you! Thing is that while we know we're just playing toy soldiers with better sticks, there's a huge swathe of the general populace that think it's silly and unfortunately there's more of them than there is of us. I mean, there's way more violence and injury connected with kickyball than there is with airsoft and yet it's the most popular sport in the country.

  36. Spot on Ed, funnily you mention your biker friend who plays (you a biker too ?), as a biker myself I've experienced similar in that you get talking to people who've never ridden, some can be quite enthusiastic about it, but others act like your the lunatic spawn of Satan for riding motorcycles & your probably a criminal who shouldn't be on the roads. Obviously as a biker who also has a gun fetish, I must be an absolute thundercnut. ?

  39. It's a difficult one, changes in society haven't helped. For example, 40 years ago every youngster & his mates chased each other around with realistic looking toys & no one on the street gave them a second look, the miltary was treble it's size, & there was literally a waiting list of people wanting to join up, in London almost every borough had a ta Hall, cadet units representing all 3 services (+ plus the marines), surplus stores aplenty, & very little gun crime, essentially lots of things to nurture interests in shooting pastimes & there was no stigma applied to anyone remotely interested in anything "gun shaped". Fast forward, sprogs in nurseries & primary schools are forbidden from even fashioning a pistol from lego, the army is tiny & can't fill it's ranks, a massive proportion of the ta & cadet units have disappeared, a small number of terrible gun sprees have massively impacted all forms of gun ownership, coupled with commonplace gun crime. All of this has changed UK societies mindset on guns & associated pastimes. Needless to say those of us that are hooked have an uphill battle to encourage others to consider joining our ranks, or even turning out once for a "taster" ?

  41. A great day yesterday at Dog Tag. I took a whole load of rentals there in the morning - who seemed to have a good laugh despite the rental G36's having pretty dodgy performance (the site really does favour guns that can land hits at long range, and the effective range of the rental guns seemed pretty poor to be honest). We played a few fields that I hadn't played on before (the last time I visited the site was a good few years ago now) - possibly due to the waterlogging issues that @Impulse mentioned in his post earlier. During the morning fall back games (attackers have unlimited spawns, defenders only get one life per field and have to fall back to the next once taken out) once again some confusion over people shooting across boundaries from the subsequent fields that weren't yet in play occurred - both the field boundary marking, and the briefing/direction that marshals gave could possibly have been improved upon. No major issue though, and hit taking was good from what I saw. The rental masks that the site issued out to my companions incorporated mesh for the goggle section - which, despite some peoples misgivings, I think makes a lot of sense for a rental. The likelihood of a BB shattering on mesh, and fragments penetrating with enough retained velocity to do harm would seem an awful lot lower than the likelihood of a frustrated kid lifting his rental mask mid game to wipe the fogging out. In the afternoon, the numbers dropped right down to mainly regulars (plus me!) and no rentals at all - 11 per side. And, along with the sun being out for the first time in forever, it was one of the most enjoyable aisofting sessions I've had in a very long time. Game play was great, the games active, and people were talkative and sociable - exactly how airsofting should be. And the old faithful Krytac that I ran post lunch was giving me more BB's on target than the SR25 that was providing my arms a workout in the morning.

  42. I sympathise with the need for a system of defense such as UKARA, but to be fair to the OP, my son's situation would mean that if he were 18, it would be incredibly difficult for him to maintain a UKARA defense, and once I leave the UK, it will be the same for me. We'll only be back for a month or two at a time with lots of family visiting responsibilities to fit into a limited budget when it comes to car hire, fees, ammo, and possibly having to rent an air BnB for the duration. Hence, as discussed in other threads, I maintain an album of site generated pictures of me and him participating in the hobby to help us form a defence of our own should we ever be pulled over by the fuzz with a car full of RIFs. Which I know doesn't help with retailers... but then this is the reason for this thread I suppose. Mind you the OP didn't do himself any favours by not at least trying to explain the situation. Just playing devil's advocate.

  43. And theres the difference between you and I. I do care about people actively undermining the defense that keeps our hobby viable. You apparently don't give a fuck...... And for what its worth in this thread you've pretty much proved that "if I have to explain this, you still won't understand".
    1 point
  44. This! UKARA was created in order to demonstrate that the industry had a means of ensuring that RIFs were only being sold to people who intended to use them for airsoft. It may be imperfect, but it was a key element in ensuring that we would not have to play with brightly coloured IFs. Salty little bugger, aren't you?

    Hello Again

So after a fairly long hiatus due to having more kids (Clearly can’t keep it in my pants). I finally have the time and more importantly money to get back into the hobby. All I need to do now is restock all my stuff. if I don’t tell the missus how much it was she won’t mind haha ? But I’m a few years older definitely not wiser and can’t wait to get started again.

Agree, my similar bugbear was with UK retailers selling guns too hot for UK sites (& UK laws) & expecting you to pay extra to "downgrade" ?. Although I haven't heard of it happening so much in recent times, maybe it's been addressed ?
