  1. OK say we're talking standard GBBP's as supposed to highly upgraded EmKay-23's.... Do you really want to load your pistol mags up with 0.32+, to just unload them at the end of the day when it turns out you had little to no use for your pistol (like most woodland players). Additionally in those rare moments room breaching or whatever else may call for a Handgun Hero, you're likely shooting at centre mass from 5 - 15m. Where exactly does the need for "range and accuracy" come into it? In fact when I was at South Coast CQB, I noticed heavier and slower BB's just gave that extra bit of time for the "enemy" to dive behind the ample cover. Don't forget these Tokyo Marui pistols we all readily recommend, were designed to be used with 0.20's. That being said, my pick would be 0.25 or 0.28's as the latter is my chosen weight for AEG's.

  3. My son was busy with his friends so I was 'Billy no mates' at Dogtag last Sunday. Ironically he got me started in this to spend more time together LOL. I was a bit uncomfortable being on my own but once that first BB fly's past your head, all that goes out the window... This was the first time I've played a game with a proper objective which was get a pilot and fuel to the Helicopter. It was great fun and knowing there's a time limit really puts some pressure on. I'm starting to use concealment and using the bushes as cover, Rhododendron's work really well with DPM! Really impressed with my new over glasses Herosharks. Roll on next weekend!

  4. Local shop was having a thinning of magazines, and I’ve been struggling to find mags that a) fit my Umarex AEG HK416A5 and b) are a good price. Saw some of the Nuprol PMAG knock offs at £3 a mag, and figured worth a try. They all fit and feed flawlessly in the pew. Happy days! for reference they’re these (But in tan) https://jdairsoft.net/nuprol-w-mag-a-mid-cap-150rd-black

When in CQB sites I use whatever i'm using in my AEG because I don't have to bother with two bags of BBs. Never had an issue firing 0.25g or 0.28g BBs though I know things like my MK23 can easily hop way heavier.

  9. On his 70th birthday, a man was given a gift certificate from his wife. The certificate was for consultation with a Native American medicine. man living on a nearby reservation who was rumoured to have a simple cure for erectile dysfunction. The husband went to the reservation and saw the medicine man. The old Indian gave him a potion and, with a grip on his shoulder, warned "This is a powerful medicine. You take only a teaspoonful, and then say: '1-2-3.' When you do, you will become more manly than you have ever been in your life, and you can perform for as long as you want." The man thanked the old Indian, and as he walked away, he turned and asked “How do I stop the medicine from working?" "Your partner must say ‘1-2-3-4,' he responded, "but when she does, the medicine will not work again until the next full moon." He was very eager to see if it worked so he went home, showered, shaved, took a spoonful of the medicine, and then invited his wife to join him in the bedroom. When she came in, he took off his clothes and said: "1-2 3!" Immediately, he was the manliest of men. His wife was excited and began throwing off her clothes, and asked: "What was the 1-2-3 for ?" And that, boys and girls, is why we should never end our sentences with a preposition, because we could end up with a dangling participle

    Which gas?

I like an easy life, so I'll be the boring one and say that I use Nuprol as it's a good one stop shop and predictable. Green equals around 60% of the year for me in a slightly tweaked AAP-01 and red when temps are around 10 degrees centigrade or less (I've made a personal decision to never use black). Shots are consistent and I know that my mags will remain pretty much gas tight, with shots of Abbey maintenance gas when I won't be using them for a while. I rarely need to disassemble my mags to oil up the o-rings, I've never needed to replace any o-rings, and as a side-arm I've not noticed the slight amount of silicon affect grouping / range on 0.32g.

    Mag storage...

thats.. a lot of mags i have most of my mags in an old ammo crate. i bought the crate from an army surplus stall at my (at the time) local market before lockdowns, stripped off all the old flaking brown paint and resprayed it with some grey primer and army green rattle cans from halfords (which has picked up quite a few scars from other ammo boxes being stacked on top of it) , then my father and i made and painted a pair of wooden divider trays. i swap the mags depending on which backup guns i take to a game day and load the entire crate in the boot of my car.

  18. So I decided to pay a visit to the tunnels at Epsom yesterday and it definitely managed to scratch a cqb itch. Numbers were lower than I was expecting at between 10 and 15 players in total but to me that made it better as it meant there was room to move and every doorway or corner wasn't a choke point. Hit taking was excellent with none problems or whining I'd noticed had started to get worse at my previous regular site. All in all I'll definitely be going back

    Mag storage...

I have one or two spare mags that get dumped into an ikea type storage box & was looking on fleabay last week thinking I could buy some ammo boxes to store them all a bit better. Long story short, I dragged them all out to see how many spare mags I had & which types, took a piccie to post on here and realised that I don't need any ammo boxes... I have webbing hanging all over my mancave with ready made pouches. only got around 6 spares without a home now (mainly a couple of AK & some Galil mags). 420490325_912386320124823_669653446712038612_n.mp4

  21. I'm moving to 0.28g as one of my pistols won't lift heavier though I'm phasing out my supply of 0.25g. My Mk23 can lift 0.36g easily if I want distance and low noise but I've been lucky not to have such windy days that 0.28g were blown away easily. Similar to what Impulse said, 0.28/0.32g is that sweet spot of cost vs benefit for me.

    bb weight for pistol

I use pistols rarely in practice and when I do it's usually as part of a suicide charge or being sneaky. Also a recently introduced rule at our site... brought in to try and stop l said suicide charges by a few of us regualrs whereby everyone has to be armed. So I only use .2s for budgetary reasons and a bottle of "oh balls, what were these again".

So long as the hop works with a heavy bb, go for it. Personally I use at least .3 in everything depending on how much they cost

They have just relocated to bigger premises https://www.facebook.com/Super5ives I don’t think that they have posted up their ‘full’ relaunch date yet, which should be in the Spring - when that is fully there should be more to cast your eyes over in the showroom.

I'm planning on putting a warhead base motor in it and switching from 11.1 to 7.4 lipos in the future. Hoping this will become a nicely upgraded backup in case something goes wrong with my tippman hpa or the double eagle gbb m4 a friend is selling me for 60 quid.

Ahh that is terrible news indeed. As someone who doesn't use GBBR's, I wasn't interested in everything he did but still appreciated that unlike most airsoft Youtubers, he offered detailed analysis and didn't shill for free stuff. I haven't watched the video (I can't atm) but if it is terminal, I wish him as pain-free a journey as possible.

  34. The extra shifts I put in last month gave me a few extra pew tokens so I decided I need a back up AEG and picked up a specna arms SA-CO2 CORE. Annoyingly I had to wait for it to be 2 toned, only for me to swap out the fore grip and stock for black ones I've got in my spares collection. I took it with me to Epsom yesterday and so far I'm impressed with the performance and build quality especially considering it was only £80 (on sale at patrol base, was £110). The plastic/polymer/whether you want to call it frankly pisses over other guns in the same price bracket. I'm looking at you cyma with your melted down dustbins. I also decided I was getting bored of lugging round a hoofing great deployment bag (which is far bigger than I need) alongside the gun bag on public transport so I bought a police issue body armour bag. It's big enough to hold both my plate carrier and belt kit along with extras such as ammo, gas and even a helmet

    Which gas?

It's worth nothing that these pressures are likely at what's known as psia, with reference to vacuum. The addition of the HFC 32 gas, adds pressure as the amount of propane reduces which would otherwise reduce pressure, butane being a lower pressure gas than both of those. On its own the HFC 32 would be around 245 psia.

I go with option 1 as I'm lazy and I don't mind losing a bit of accuracy or range as I only use a pistol for cqb as I'm a crap shot

    Which gas?

If you are in the UK as I am, game temps can range between 5 and 20C for the most part of the year. Propane pressure can nearly double over that range and the reason propane won't cut it for some guns as the temp drops. Mag cooling only makes this worse. The orange ultrair is about 30psi more than propane at 25C and the same as 25C propane at 15C. The red ultrair take this same pressure as 25C propane down to about 10C. You can decide how propane works in your gun and adjust accordingly. Silicone oil is only a few percent and won't make any difference to the pressure, but can in theory contaminate the hop. However I've not experienced this nor seen any evidence of it happening.

  44. Gone are the days of spending far too much from WGC Shop etc, hours filing the metal slide so it would fit etc. Its also so much easier to find parts these days. Thanks for the link @Impulse - 8mm BB's GET (also so spare o-rings - so thankyou!) Obviously the Redhawk isn't an option - they don't make them anymore sadly! But ... I'm toying with the idea of a "site safe"/"low power" Dan Wesson 715 - possibly the 6 inch. I'd rather use the real steel speedloaders/pouches and it appears you can if you file the base of the shell. But we'll see - I'll have a look at the one which comes with it. Don't really like the idea of CO2 - but given that a single mini-caplets are good for 70 shots that should easily do me. I'll let you know how I get on if I do go down that route! When you say "safely reloadable" in game what exactly do you mean? I rather enjoy dumping the shells (into a zip pocket) & then using a speedloader under fire. Apparently I giggle when doing so - just like I do chucking a BFG at someone.

  45. Auto precocking could cause this. When it first powers up it doesnt know the timing of the system, so intentionally overruns on the first shot to time it, then from that info it can set a more appropriate precocking timer.
