  2. They are rare. I've only ever seen one for sale; I bought it and had it modified to 14mm CCW to fit my GHK. Incidentally, I still have the original, unmodified 16mm CW barrel stub from mine - if you want that as a spare, or to put on another AUG or something, just drop me a PM. It was done by cutting a Hephaestus steel outer barrel down - each bit is full steel, including the gas block. S, M, XXL Not sure why I insist on waiting until I'm selling something to take decent pictures of it, but all three bits (the pistol, the light, the holster) of this slice of 2000s Navy SEAL life are sadly for sale.

  3. Hope the boy doesn't read this....but it was a real banger of a day at Special Ops. About 50 - 60 turned up, but a lot were new players and younglngs. One of the Marshalls had their kid's 15th birthday there so a lot of teenagers rocked up which was a little worrying at first sight, only for them all to be really great kid's who made the most of their time. A lot of regulars were missing, which was shame, but not a surprise given the heat. Games were the usual fair....zombies to warm up, then some attack and defend. We on the skins side had the most familiarity with the site, so the day was a total wipe out, with one game won in 90 seconds, which on turnaround I think we timed them out.... the objective being to run through the church entrance, get the bomb and then get it to the tent. Had a few awkward moments, one being during Team Deathmatch, where I snuck round a tarpaulin barricade only to find a poor solitary teenager. I decided to switch to my pistol to be kind, only to find it wasn't cocked....but poor lass didn't see me until I put my RIF down and cocked my Glock and ....well...🤣🙊. The next was almost a carbon copy but with said teenager's friend....all I could see was a face mask....so face mask was what was shot, again though, I could tell it was a youngling, so switched to the Glock because the L85 was right in the limit again. Baby Specna and Double Eagle didn't get a run today as I was using the boy's Longer Specna we picked up secondhand from here. A very good £120. Thing is as we bought it, plus a good LVPO and bipod and was shooting like a laser. Only problem being a little mag fussy. L85 was a little temperamental, but that was due to overspin because I put an 11.1v in it. Switched to 7.4v and it was a dream until the riser came lose without my noticing - apart from having to aim into the next county to hit anything. Lunch as always was free, tasty and plentiful. Water was guzzled by the gallon (11 litres by my count) but I'm still thirsty as anything and peeing treacle. Fan powered antifog Once again was flawless, although the battery died about halfway through the afternoon. Looking forward to going back in a couple of weeks.

  4. Kinda always been a fan of the maple leaf macaron, with a proper omega nub (the off brand ones i've seen tend to not be so square) or other appropriately radial block (eg the r block in a maxx unit) For gbb's again maple leaf autobot/decepticon with maybe an i-key and the odd bit of creative arm shimming can work wonders. As a secondary for the guns that dislike maple leaf feedlips i've had good results with the pdi w-hold buckings, although find they're not keen on heavier than 0.32g at least in the 1j energy category. G&g green are good as stock style buckings go, i'd put them in the same shelf spot as the prommy purple for guns that aren't expecting to be fed the heavies. Ofc as with all things airsoft ymmv, throwing the bestest bucking, barrel and nub in the universe is gonna be useless if the gun's idea of energy consistency isnt.

  7. I think me and the boy have to take partial responsibility for that one, 30 meters out of respawn I hear an almighty crash behind me, turn round and he is on is back, leg pointing at a jaunty angle and gun god knows where. His first words were 'Is my gun okay?' - he's a good lad. A good half dozen or so of our team stopped to make sure he was okay rather than just bundling past which I was very grateful for, but it probably meant the objective had no defensive line to speak of. By the time he was back on his feet the game over whistle had blown. Thankfully being an elastic teenager he'd not done himself any serious damage but the fire selector on his G36 had vanished in the tumble so I'll have to source a replacement. Same (apart from being in the bath..), watched this last night, wondering what is the max weight BB our stock guns can hop. Going to order some 28s and 30s (using 25s currently) and see how we get on.

  9. Try using a 60 degree bucking (the yellow one) for 350fps and test again? As Leo Greer suggests, stabilising the inner barrel inside the outer may be required to improve accuracy further. Currently working on this myself but i'm waiting on more parts to arrive.

  10. Seconds on the PDI W-hold for hop units that don’t like ML rubbers. I can confirm that they don’t like anything heavier than .30g even at 1.5+J. Mine perform the best using .25g. I like the PDI W-Hold or Modify Ryusoku for “legacy” spec hop units, those being tighter than newer design and less likely to accept ML rubbers. If an ML rubber can be used, then that is my recommendation. I will also be happy using Krytac Orange and Blue, G&G Blue, and I’ll flathop just about anything. In general, using the correct nub and with correct stabilization, you can make almost any rubber perform excellently. The key is in using the proper nub shape, and how you set up the rest of your barrel group around the rubber.

  11. Too loose is indeed better, but in my experience you can have too tight of shimming and still have a good sound. Most of the cycling noise is related to the bevel-pinion junction, and how well the teeth match up. I believe your results will probably hold true for longer ranges as well, given that the barrel and rubber don’t affect the BB once it leaves their influence. So, the variance you see now should carry over, extrapolating into similar variance at any range. Have you perchance done stabilization mods on either RIF?

  12. Those stocks tend to need a nunchuck type battery like this... https://www.vapextech.co.uk/airsoft-7-4v-1450mah-20c-lipo-battery-with-case-lp208-vapextech You'll need a charger too like this... https://www.patrolbase.co.uk/nuprol-compact-lipo-life-nimh-nicd-balance-charger?gclid=Cj0KCQjw0vWnBhC6ARIsAJpJM6dYUB-JbRe1TdQUaR4Q6198xrGCpyN6mOB7HiCwhkKduTvqFR7LY5gaAsDQEALw_wcB Most airsoft gnus tend to come with a cheap & nasty euro charger & battery so you might be able to pick one up for SFA from a friend that skirmishes. There are many types of battery & chargers to consider as well as protection for them like this... https://www.amazon.co.uk/Fireproof-Protecting-protected-accidental-explosion/dp/B08GS6DKG7/ref=asc_df_B08GS6DKG7/?tag=googshopuk-21&linkCode=df0&hvadid=463216849420&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=5569258410136641636&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=1007330&hvtargid=pla-1063499779574&psc=1

  13. I used these. These should also work. I will say, the actual spade connector which goes onto the motor tab is crimped a touch too tight and I had to use a small flathead to pry them open a bit more so they went onto the motor tab without forcing it on and potentially damaging the motor. If you don't have one already, i'd suggest getting a crimping tool.

    Geoffs BB Shortage

We certainly do. I bought an Odin for the boy, and when it arrived it was without the insert that mine came with. As far as I can make out, the EMG branded Odins include it, and the Odin branded don't. Anyway, may save BBs from getting a battering and is quiet for sure. Back to the original topic, I think a range of Warhead BBs may be in the shopping cart later this week

  17. Of course. Safety briefs are by and large boring as we've all heard them before, a few humorous infills helps keep people engaged and listening.

  19. Aside from a bit of linishing, polishing, a trip to a friendly local engraver and then either further polishing (unrealistic but would look nice imo) or zinc phosphate, here's me latest completely impractical cqb toy. Literally works exactly as the real thing except with a plastic non pointy "firing pin" (more akin to what we see in m203s and aps cam870 mk2) and a chamber deliberately designed not to be able to take the pressure. It's also slightly the wrong bore for any modern shotgun shell.

  20. That is a sign of responsible upbringing - as they say as part of the AWA safety brief - guns cost money to fix... the NHS is [kind of] free. That's something I've always appreciated about the fields we've played, everyone pitches in to help when they see something amiss. Glad your lad was OK though. Also, Kayden - the kid that did the running for us on that one - knows the field as well as any of the Marshalls and has been going there for years. He and the other lad on our side we call Lando are known to just run everywhere and interfere with the opposition. Frankly most of our team barley made it to the Church before the whistle went too. After lunch they should have rebalanced the teams more, but there was such a large number of first timers and kids in groups, that is was more a day for people to have fun, and it was only the regulars really going for actual objectives. I tend to stick to 25s and 28s, but I know next to naff all about hops other than what they do. I need to experiment more, but my garden is not long enough to really test this one out. I could open my side gate and shoot from my neighbours garage up the drives up the side passage through the garden, but I think I'd get a visit from Plod.

  21. It's £25, make an educated guess. Good optics cost money, that said airsoft guns are not so accurate that bad parallax actually makes much of a difference. It can be annoying but that's about it.
    1 point
  22. I get where you're coming from, but people will have inevitably done more in depth maint on a weapon while under fire for real, so yeah as long as they have the tool in question that could and probably has happened. Now on a lot of civilian rifles owned by people with minimal training or experience then often the non-QD scope mount + irons is just a lack of thinking through the setup, but that's bound to happen. Personally in airsoft I like a magnified optic for ID/instead of prescription eyewear and any sort of BUIS/red dot are either aesthetic or a nice-to-have, since every airsoft shot is a 'tracer' and if they're close enough for airsoft you can obviously mostly just shoot instinctively, as has been mentioned (especially combined with the 'tracer' aspect with normal white BBs in daylight). Obviously if someone's build is a replication of a real build then none of the above matters anyway.

I’ve got the B&T rail on it, so that raises the Elcan high enough to be comfortable to shoot. It’s fairly low compared to the red dot, but for looking at stuff far away it’s perfectly fine. For most shooting I’m on the RDS anyway

  24. I do get the impression that the whole BB weight/FPS/joule/range quagmire is finally becoming clearer for people. Shame that there are still a few sites insisting on chronoing with .20g and using FPS instead of joules from the ammo weight you're using.
    1 point
  25. Yup, I run 0.28g outdoors. The tl;dr on the physics is that the 0.2g will be faster when it leaves the barrel but will lose that speed much sooner. The heavier BB will hold its energy, go further, and they're also a bit less prone to being blown around. You'll want to go as heavy as your budget and hop unit allow.

    THE TM MWS thread

I am running Abbey Sniper gas in the summer which is effectively green gas without silicone (which is why I use it). In the winter and Autumn I run Mapp gas with a Madbull Propane adaptor for filling. Silicone-free Mapp gas provides the same level of power as Guarder black gas, and costs very little from a builder's merchant. I have uprated all springs in the nozzle, and I run 120% or 130% buffer springs with heavier buffer weights. My HAO MWS has a steel CNC Robin Hood bolt carrier with a brass end weight, so plenty of strength and recoil. I feel no need to run 144a in the summer, as all my rifles can easily handle green/sniper gas, and if I need a low muzzle energy level, I turn the NPAS down.

I've never had an item not turn up with Aliexpress or similar. Usually it takes 8-14 days to deliver but it's always been within that timeframe, Royal Mail issues not included. Temu deliver their stuff with Evri once it's in country and they've been great but their selection is lacking compared to Aliexpress and others.

    Show me your stock…

Glad I could help! Like I said, the S.I stocks are (or appear to be) pretty hard to come by and expensive when you do unless you can find a cheap one on the likes of aliexpress or similar. Stock styled like the Magpul CTR are much more plentiful or like @Tackle said, the D-Day minimalist (or similar) stocks will fit your needs.

    Spring strengths...

It all comes down to the quality of the material / steel used and how it's been "treated". You can have have springs that can be in service for decades, in industrial applications, that retain their strength and shape but cheap nasty ones that compress incredibly quickly. Personally I've found the XT springs from AK2M4 brilliant, definitely better than another trusted brand like Guarder. They're really consistent in their strength, so you can use them in almost any gun and know what you're getting, and I've had zero power drops over time. They also produce an M95 which is very useful is you have a great air-seal and an M100 takes you just over a Joule limit

  34. I'm having, for the second time in 9 years a desire to fuck the kit off bar a western rig and a revolver and call it a day, and just make stuff. Z patches and Wagner patches and general bell-endery. I've never done camo wearing or patches or flags, I'm a former soldier and play airsoft completely apolitically. I just can't work out if they're edge lords or actual fucktards.

  35. So uh... some you of guys may remember this: Or this: And maybe this: Well, I'm glad you're back! Because here comes the fourth iteration which combines the strengths of each previous model. I'll keep this short and sweet. As per usual, the MOSQUITO is a 3D printed, open-source airsoft kit that is super compact and lightweight. This newest iteration now only requires an AK-style V3 gearbox as there is now a custom 3D printed hop-up chamber. In addition, from the above images, there is now a front and rear wired battery solution so that you don't have to get angry at me anymore for having to rewire your gearbox. You can find the STL and STEP files on the Printables page here: MOSQUITO Airsoft Kit (Open Beta 2) by HYBRID AIRSOFT | Download free STL model | Printables.com There is also an 86 page handbook that I wrote up which details the 3D printing and assembly steps (have fun with that). I hope you guys with a 3D printer can try it out. If you get stuck or want to discuss anything, the easiest way to get help is to join the discord server (1500+ members), linked at the bottom of the Printables page, and there will be people more than willing to answer your questions about the kit. This test will now run indefinitely until I release a final version of it (whenever that happens). Thank you for reading and have fun printing

  36. As a complete newbie to the game, I've now played twice at Alpha55 in North Wales over the last couple of weeks. The first day I completely forgot that I am an overweight, unfit 50 year old and was running around like I was still in my 20s. A couple of hours in and I slowed down. Really slowed down but it was still loved every minute. Slowing down let me play a different game. I used to play a lot of paintball when i was in my teens and remember it being a rush of speed to get to the flag but, I've realised, airsoft is a much more tactical game and by the end of the day I was talking more to my team and planning the attack. I was absolutely worn out by the end of the day but I havent grinned like that in a while. The week after I booked myself and my 15 year old daughter to play at the same site. It was so hot, even at 9:30, that the old DPMs I'd brought for us were discarded and we played in just our t-shirts. She was a little apprehensive of being shot and held back in the first game but soon got into it after the inevitable hit. We worked well as a team, giving each other covering fire as we pushed forward to the objective. I was so happy, and really proud, of being there with my baby. She hates it when I call her my baby, but she is the youngest! I talked to a lot of people there, especially on the second day, about their kit and equipment. Ive already done a deal on a 2nd hand, but hardly used and like new, Valken RIF. Its the same as the sites hire RIF so I'm quite comfortable using it. I know its only a starter and I will probably upgrade to something better in time but for now its brilliant. The site is great. It's all woodland with a lots of different buildings, towers, CQB areas and the like. It was very well run, very professional. It made me feel safe. The hire kit was great, all well looked after and unlimited BBs. On the first day I used about half, of the supplied 2500 ish, over the day. On the second day i had to refill my carrier twice! My new spending addiction is coming into clear view!

I felt the need to show this one off. After years of searching I somehow managed to stumble upon this wonderful TM Aug A1 with the steel HBAR kit with the correct bipod and flash hider. Not sure how rare these kits are but I’ve only come across a small hand-full of these. Just wish I could get myself a drum mag for it it. The inner barrel is a ridiculous 655mm in length

    New TM MWS announced

The URG-I is the in thing at the moment, both in airsoft and the U.S. real steel market. So this will probably sell by the sack full, particularly in the U.S. If I hadn’t already built my own MWS based URG-I, I’d definitely be looking to get one of these. Personally I’d love TM to do a retro AR, fixed carry handle MWS, particularly with the A2 carry handle.

  39. Had an amazing time at the Stirling Airsoft 36 hour milsim event this last weekend. Think I got about 5 hours sleep in total, didn't stop doing various taskings including close target recces, attacking the patrol base and ambushing vehicle convoys. Glad I made it my annual weekender!! If anyone wants a full on rural milsim event then I can't recommend one run by Stirling enough, more than happy to do a full write up but probably not that different to the one I've done previously. Platatac chest rig ran exactly as I hoped it would and was perfect for the event - really happy with the purchase

    aliexpress

aliexpress can be a great resource and it can often be worth taking a chance on these things, but if there are no decent reviews with text and pictures then be prepared to be surprised at how badly something can be made. You'll see missing screws, miscast screws (allen heads with the heads filled in can be pretty common), parts not lining up and dodgy anodizing. This is especially common with any kind of mounts in particular because they'll try to do an rmr footprint without having an rmr or a picatinny attachment without testing on a rail. It can be a good experience, just bear in mind that it's a bit of a gamble

  42. When safety becomes a concern, such as in this case, take it to the staff. If they aren't bothered, then they don't deserve your money, or anyone's money. And you'll probably feel a whole lot more guilty if you give someone a pass for a near miss and they end up blinding some poor bugger taking a dump.

  44. Generally, but not always: yes, yes, no, and you shouldn't be stabbing anyone with anything, let alone round a corner where you can't see what you're poking at. "Knife kills" should be carefully laying a hand or some toy on someone from behind, only as hard as necessary to make them aware of it, not engaging in any sort of fencing match. None of these should be "unspoken", they should be covered clearly at the briefing. If your regular site(s) aren't doing that, you might want to have a constructive word with the staff and remind them that there's no way for new players or visitors to know how they expect the game to be played unless they tell them.

  46. A few months ago a guy turned up in WW2 Nazi Germany soldiers loadout. Full on swastika on his belt and on other parts of his kit just no red armband. Problem for me is that it was a normal every day skirmish. I can understand maybe at a WW2 event but it just seems really odd and strange in my opinion to turn up like that and not feel embarrassed of even question yourself. To be fair I would like to see sites start adding regulations on this sort of thing.

  47. The Z/Wagner-patch douches are just edgelord/Rusfor-simping trash. Don't let them get to you... modern-day equivalent of rocking an SS uniform, accoutrements and all. Absolutely a mix of edgelords, trolls, and people severely lacking in critical thinking, common sense, or basic respect. If you're having trouble being around certain tools or Walts, and it's spoiling the fun for you, maybe a different scene is on the cards -- if it's particularly heinous I'd have no qualms calling them out on it, or ensure that they make for a particularly popular target that day, but appreciate that approach isn't for everyone. Definitely spend some time getting games in away from that crowd, keep enjoying your play without the negative elements sullying the mood.

  48. So I tested the AEG today using various weighted BB's and the results are: 0.2g upto and including 0.28g no problem with hop or overhop 0.3g upwards don't hop. I'll probably run 0.28g BB's until I get around to S hopping the inner barrel. If you buy 1 and want to run heavier BB's then you will need to look at another hop rubber/bucking/hop unit to run the heavier BB's. I also tried to measure the inner barrel as I'm curious to see what the inner diameter is however I ran into a couple of snags. The first being the flash hider. The grub screw that holds it on and the flash hider actually have thread lock on them. I wasn't expecting this for such a cheap AEG and is something normally seen on high end AEG's. I had to end up press fitting a star drive bit into the grub screw to get it out and used set of pipe pliers to get the flash hider off. This sounds like a negative but its not. It just means the build quality coming from DE is pretty high. You can see on the picture below the red residue of the threadlock on the inside of the flash hider. Once I got the flash hider off I used my calipers to measure the inside of the inner barrel and got a weird reading of 7.4mm as I pushed the calipers in further it got smaller 6.4 until I couldn't fit the calipers in any further. It turns out the inner barrel has a taper for the last 15mm of the inner barrel. Again this came as a surprise on such a low cost AEG. I haven't stripped the gearbox yet but I did find this good photo on Taiwangun showing the internals. I've pretty much set on this layout for now (apart from a 3D printed battery entender which is printing as I type this). If anyone is interested it's now £104 on Taiwangun and this is a mental price for such a good little AEG. I'm tempted to go buy one of the longer models as I think this whole series from DE could be very good value for money. *EDITED as I don't know which way a red dot goes on a rifle
