  2. Also, worth checking Patrol Base in the run to Xmas, they usually have an AK variant in their sales. Last year it was a Cyma AK74SU, cm045a. For £145. Obviously quite a way off yet though. I've added a cyma AK recognition chart. It can be found by googling 'cyma ak models' and image search. They make loads of variants, just not that much variety in stock in the UK. Hope that helps, happy pewing!

  3. Removed the advert. Whilst it could be used for airsoft, and I was at a themed WW2 game where they used a Jeep for transport of Allies, it is not strictly in the bounds of airsoft guns and gear.

    Compact revolver

If you're on a budget, Green gas Tokyo Marui python 2.5 inch or the m29. They last quite well if used with low power gas. Smaller than the Dan wesson 2.5s and lighter. The springers are shite, avoid them. Imo tanaka are the way to go, and genuinely available in all sorts of models with small frames and even concealed hammers but again low power gas needed and are expensive/hard to obtain. Tanaka are the gold standard with airsoft revolvers. 3rd option is accept a larger grip and have something co2. Could go down a custom route or just buy one that's already done like the Webley if you want left field, or the Dan wesson 715 in 2.5 inches. The 715 series are better made than the early versions and are distinguished in that they are a bit more square and have a (naff) hop. Don't bother with marushin revolvers or king arms.

  10. I've half a dozen of the things. My folding AK47 is beaten but still straight shooting. My full stock AK47 has been loaned to various friends of my son forever and still performs well. My metal bodied series are 100% A OK and Mrs TPH loves her AK74SU. I really rate them. The lad's CM.048 has been mistaken for an E&L or LCT more than once.

Interestingly someone filed a FOIA request to OFCOM to ask how many people had been prosecuted for using a walkie talkie without a license. It was none. They “always try to educate and assist users” Contrary to what Reddit and FaceAche groups will tell you, where you expect the OFCOM SWAT team doing a no-knock at 4am (yes I have a license, sit down!)

  12. Ahoy and welcome. I'd avoid the sub-£100 CYMA CM5XX M4 series. The internals are fine, but the plastic on that range is very cheap and toyish, and that's the part that you can't upgrade. The G36C would be my choice from those three, I rate them as a platform. I think the CYMA G36s have better plastic than their cheapest M4s, but would welcome confirmation. The internals should be fine. I'd echo that the battery and charger that come with it are technically functional, but weedy and unlikely to last a day. I'd get straight onto lithium batteries rather than spending another penny on nimh technology. I'd suggest something like 2 of these or equivalent (although I'd measure the supplied battery and ensure that these will fit in the stock). Note that the CYMA comes with a mini (aka small) Tamiya connector, and that means you'll need airsoft specific batteries (RC vehicle Tamiya battery connectors have different polarity). https://hobbyking.com/en_us/turnigy-nano-tech-1500mah-2s-20-40c-lipo-airsoft-pack.html And a SkyRC S65 charger from wherever you can find it cheapest. This looks like a significant added cost, but it's really not worth cheaping out on chargers given the potential for things to go catastrophically wrong. Oh, if you're not in a hurry, and intending to buy from bbguns4less, then put your order together, leave it in your basket for 24 hours and you may get sent a 5% discount code. Enjoy the time and money sink.

  13. As above, what does he like the look of? I'd also suggest thinking about the weight and size of these compared with him. If he's not that strong then smaller and lighter is sensible, if he's a strapping teenager it shouldn't matter. If he's under 18 (assuming he is), he'll need full face protection, not just eye pro, some like the big masks like dye4, others prefer glasses and a mesh facemask. Hiking boots and gloves (check out mechanic) are also recommended. The biggest thing I can recommend is go with him, at least every now and then. It's great father son bonding time, I see it at sites regularly and wish I had it with my dad (as a dad of real young ones, I will take mine when they're older). It's also pathetic seeing how uninvolved dad's are when they just drop their kids off like it's a crèche.

    Hi all

I've been wanting to try airsoft for ages so I've finally bitten the BB and booked myself in at Special Ops as it's relatively local to me. Being over 40 and ridiculously unfit I'm sure it will be an experience! Looking forward to getting out there and also browsing round the forum which has already proved to be a goldmine of info - got to give a big thumbs up to you guys.

    Hi all

... good news on the hydration front... Free bottled water readily available around the game area, so no real worries there. Free tea and coffee at the safe zone (plus the shop selling cans and choccy bars) Nice burger, hotdogs and chicken legs and salad were provided for the lunch at the last event - included in the price, so no worries about bringing a packed lunch either!

  20. Really, with inflation being what it is, and classic vehicles going up in value, can you afford not to buy it?

  21. UKARA is a national register of participating site memberships. The original signup criteria for UKARA is based upon the recommendations made while the scheme was being formulated under the VCR bill consulting process. Its up to sites how they renew membership, and as RIF sales are what players are really after from UKARA it’s perfectly reasonable to only renew someone who has actually played. Playing once at a site is a reasonable requirement to show that you’re a skirmisher. The alternative is to start again with the 3 games process It would not be complying with the principles of UKARA as a VCRA Defence to renew membership of someone who isn’t playing

  23. To be fair PB tend to have quite a few sales through the year so OP may be able to pick something up on sale before Christmas if they wanted to.

  24. As with the other posters a ‘Defence’ is required under the VCRA for the sale of RIFs but the definition of ‘defence’ in the act isn’t necessarily the English language definition As a seller it is you that has responsibilities under the act, and in the rare possibility that you could find yourself in court you would need to (English language definition) defend that you reasonably believed the buyers intended use fell within the VCRA defined defences. It is not a legal requirement for the buyer to have a valid UKARA number. Only the various purposes quoted above. If you can show that you reasonably believed that the buyer intended to play on an insured skirmish site and is aged over 18 then you are legal The ideal is to ask for UKARA details (if you can check them of course), but their social media account full of airsofting photos, or an established member of this forum would be good enough A social media account full of chav posing outside the off licence would not be considered ideal

  25. Any luck on finding a liberated copy of EN 1731? That's what Nuprol are claiming for their mesh. Which is still £5 more than I'm prepared to pay for a document created using tax money.

  26. There is no nub to my knowledge. I got the maple leaf omega one but there is no space for it. The way the Hop unit is designed it's just a lever with a little arm that pushes the hop down . Maybe I am wrong. If you take your one apart check it. Edit: Definitely no nub

  27. EN 1731 has been withdrawn as a standard and replaced by EN ISO 16321. eLibrary copies can be read for a day for a bout a fiver https://standards.iteh.ai/catalog/standards/cen/0558b211-7e30-44c2-a924-480c91d5dea4/en-iso-16321-3-2022 Worth mentioning that this standard specifically excludes mesh face protectors or goggles for sports use.

  28. If you have the sector rotated to keep the delayer unengaged from the tappet then as you close the halves a little push back on the nozzle usually takes the pressure off and lets it pop into place. Usually the final stage of closing up a box is poking/prodding various gear shafts, the trigger and the nozzle to see which one of them is causing the binding.

  29. Yes mate go for it. Don't sell to under 18 and you should really check that the buyer has a defense or is a legitimate user. Just don't sell to anyone who you think might be a dickhead and might go roaming the streets with it. Regards

  34. Yes the 908a would be an excellent choice if you really want the long handguard look... It is metal. (You can make a 906 look a lot longer just with a chonky suppressor.. they look cool regardless, so you might find yourself wanting to add one to a longer gun too) For the £230 you'll also get the crane stock which will take nunchuck batteries, and which adds some value too, in my opinion https://bbguns4less.co.uk/products/double-eagle-m908a-ar15-rifle-with-falcon-system-in-black.html

    Please help me!!!

Think of a plastic toothed piston as a mechanical fuse; it is better to strip a plastic piston than to have bits of metal detaching themselves at high speed. Pistons don't fail very often, unless they are made by Ares, but it would be worth checking the angle of engagement (AoE) and for premature engagement, which is what happens when the gears catch the piston before it has travelled the whole way forward after being released..

  36. If you need a pouch for large green gas bottles, then the Viper P90 mag pouches fit them in. Depending on the age of the pouch they might struggle with the slightly larger Red gas cans (Nuprol), with the newer ones being able to fit them.

Another vote here for a stripped piston or gear. You are going to have to open it up to find out.

  38. While I agree, can't help but think an item such as this, a potentially high powered airgun that's also a rif, should be visible here for the shortest possible time, therefore reducing the chance of someone unsuitable getting their hands on it. Add to that the seller has been a member since November, but this is his first post, selling something that goes against the rules, which I'm guessing he knew that hence why he clearly points out its NOT AIRSOFT. I think inconveniencing him by briefly suspending his content until a senior mod reviews it, is far outweighed by the nature of his post & the potential harm it could cause ?. Fudge it, its hidden, I'm sure the mods will smack my hand if I've overstepped the mark 😢

  39. Obligatory vote for the Double Eagle M906C... Though of course the 904 with polymer body would save some weight if it's not a "strapping teenager" we're talking about here. (One of the guys at spec ops has picked up a 904 and hpa'd it. It's a fly-weight beast) G36s are cool though... So for the cheaper end of the price range it's a great choice

    Unsure what to choose

To be honest any of those would be a good choice. CYMA and Specna Arms are decent manufacturers. The choice would really come down to which one he likes the look of most. If he really gets into it you should consider getting a LiPo battery and charger. (That can be later on) Don't forget the eye protection!
