From my experience dealing with Luke a couple of years back, also for an M14 funnily enough, I contacted him, said what I was looking to achieve and what my budget was. He was great at keeping in contact, and the guy works some serious hours. He will do what you want to achieve without pushing you to spend more, and let you know how much of your budget you have left before doing any further work. He films everything as well, not just for his channel, but to send to customers so they can see what's being done. He was superb, hugely knowledgeable, customer focused and, above all, has integrity. Drop him a line with what you want to do and spend, and he'll say yay or nay.

(For context I run a DE M908A as a DMR, with plenty of upgrades to it, shooting 0.40g and have used ZCI plastic hop units in DE M908A's + M904E's + M906C's) I've bought quite a few ZCI plastic M4 / AR15 hop units and they're substantially better than the stock DE ones. The plastic is way stronger, the arm is better (especially if your stock arm is the one that retains the odd DE figure of 8 rubber nub), the pin holding the arm in place is metal and not flimsy plastic like the DE one. Pair it with a Maple Leaf Macaron bucking and an Omega nub and you're good to go (make sure the Omega nub is absolutely dead center). As Speedbird said the ZCI metal unit offers zero benefit over the plastic one. Also, from my perspective, the only reason to go with a hop unit even more expensive than the ZCI plastic if if you need to hop VERY heavy BB's and get into things like r-hop.

Finally back in stock .. been waiting a while to get my hands on one of these, and I’ll be pacing about until it arrives! ?

Finally got my first proper gun ( other than glock converted with roni kit ^^ ) HK33 by LCT EBB Steel throughout, heavy, chunky, you literally do not need any ammo to kill with it xD, however right out of the box was rather disappointing so I got some parts and sat down on it this weekend. Changed parts: Hopup chamber maxx models Piston head double oring maxx models Cylinder head double oring maxx models Nozzle double oring maxx models 6.02 590mm barrel maple leaf Rubber Super macaroon 60* maple leaf M120 non-linear spring prometheus I am running it with gate aster v2 SE and 11.1 LiPo 3 cell. It works way better than before, all fits well but I am still not happy with fps, as I am using it as DMR I want as close to 450 with .02 as possible. Currently 350 with .28 :(((( I am waiting for stainless steel cylinder from maxx and warhead brushless motor and will experiment with PDI spring 260%. Any ideas how to increase range and accuracy are very, very welcomed

In almost all hop units, metal bodied or otherwise, the parts that interact with the hop nub are plastic - there are (very expensive) brands like Maxx that are all-metal but they are the minority. ZCI Plastic and Metal versions use the same plastic parts. Only the body of the hop unit differs.

Can I ask what sort of money he charges? I realise he caveats his own videos very heavily and says he won't give quotes before the work, but I need to have some idea of what I can expect to spend... I've got a couple of guns I'd like him to fix, primarily my piston-eating F2000 but also maybe the Tippmann - does he do HPA? Or if he could make my currently stock M14 a beast, that'd be cool. I'm actually nervous of handing over the F2000, he will probably rip the absolute piss out of my shim on the COL, on the trigger, my attempt at shimming the gears, my choice of components, my first paint job on a gnu etc etc etc ad infinitum. You remove the rear sight and the front portion on the new rail top receiver acts as attachment point, by take the place of the rear sight. I believe that style of top receiver cover is based on the AK dog leg rail, an American design I think but don't quote me on it. So you could look on YouTube possibly for a better visual guide on how to install it.

Don't equate metal to reliability. Personally I would be going for The ZCI plastic unit as it is a really popular and cost effective choice.

Yes but you don't want to. there is Electric Blow Back (EBB) and there is recoil. Both are a gimic but EBB is just an arm attached to your charging handle that just makes it cycle when you shoots. there is no felt recoil .it will require you changing the gear box casing which is weaker than the standard gearbox. Recoil is where there is a built in counter weight which creates recoil, only TM, Bolt, LCT and KWA make Recoil guns. Firesuport sell a LCT V3 AK recoil gearbox. no idea if it's drop in but it's £330 for the gearbox.

Just had a full rebuild done by negative airsoft. I now wouldn’t use anyone else. I have rebuilt my own rifs for years as had 2 “techs” from shops work on them (ruin them) when I first started the rabbit hole of airsoft. I simply can’t be bothered to do it anymore and frankly having seen and now used his work I wouldn’t recommend anyone else. A decent air seal, correct air volume and a maple leaf hop rubber with nub means it now throws bbs at 1 joule as far as any of my r/s hop patch rifs ever has.

Did a test last week of ASG’s full gas range through my stock MWS for science so you don’t have to. Devil Blaster .25 with hop set for .25 23c on all 4 magazines measured with a digital thermometer.

The MWS came out nice! Is the G17 a Gen 3 or 4 base?

Strike Industries TM MWS completed(?) Might experiment with a small red dot or something, but I can't see it changing much more than that. Started in March last year! Time flies. Love how it turned out. To match, also built a Strike Industries TM G17 (decided to not go with the EMG/G&P prebuilt one in the end). Waiting on a nicer red dot to arrive, but God knows when that will be. Make quite a nice pair!
