So I'm making my own grenades...
EDcase and 5 others reacted to Jez_Armstrong for a topic
So testing today went really well! Everytime I threw it into a room it was greater with a "Fuck, run, Grenade" and a few "wait, WTF was that" It was definitely loud enough that it could be heard inside the room and from outside so you knew it went off and the fact it was reusable just by picking it up, pressing the button and throwing it again made clearing rooms a breeze The only downside was as I printed the shell at 20% infil the threaded part did snap, which was fixed with tape to continue but I only printed this case as a test to fit things in, so I'll print the next one at 100% infil so it's solid and the design will most likely change to incorporate the final internals One of the buttons took a beating so I'll design it to be more sunken in and flat so it doesn't take any damage but I wasn't light with it I was hurling it around doors so to last a whole morning was a good test in my eyes! I also wrapped it in door frame sticky foam (draft excluder foam?) and electrical tape so it's softer and obsorbs alot of impact6 points -
It's finally ready (thanks to Negative Airsoft) - my Magpul M4 with olive drab furniture. Not based on any real world firearm, just a rifle completely done in Magpul's design language; a collection of bits and bobs I find aesthetically pleasing and to match up with the G&P Magpul receiver (manufactured back when Magpul and PTS had a partnership). Came with Magpul PTS tan furniture originally (which I might sell), but I much prefer the two toning here with olive drab over tan, as it seems a little bit more special, a bit more "military" and a bit more uncommon (to me) than tan and black. Very pleased with how it's come together (although Luke suggested that aesthetically it would be better with an EOTech). No doubt the M203 will come off after the first game. Looks cool though! And it's got a Perun, so it beeps confidently which makes me giggle every time I play with it.4 points

I think we should probably get back on topic. Give any AEGs you have a service before you do. No doubt someone here can recommend a good technician local to you.4 points -

A lot of CO2 pistols can be hot as well, firing over 1.14J. My advice is get a TM. Most TM pistols will be fine, both the glock 17 and HK45 are great choices when it comes to TM, so if you like those you can't really go far wrong with either.1 point

I'd recommend a Tokyo marui, especially the hk45, fnx45, usp or a hicapa. I've owned a fair few pistols and those I've mentioned have been very well performing and reliable. If you're after a Glock the TM Glock 17 gen 4 and the Glock 19 gen 3 and 4 have a good reputation. The thing that puts me off co2 pistols is the fact you can't top them up with gas in-between games, you have to run the co2 right down before you change the cartridge which can be a bit of a faff.1 point

No, the muzzle energy, measured in Joules, could be the same; the velocity would have to be below 313 FPS when using a 0.25g BB. 313 FPS on 0.25g = 1.13J 350 FPS on 0.20g = 1.13J Sites should really measure in Joules rather than quoting a velocity based on a 0.20g BB, which hardly anyone uses.1 point -
I'd really like to try an ELCAN with it, see if it meshes. But I'm looking for an optic with better eye relief in any case, cos I bought that ACOG back when Ebairsoft used to be called Ebaybanned, and I basically have to have my face shoved right into the glass to see through it. Any suggestions? Yes to the Magpul, and I'd love to find an older legit PMAG in OD but I'd probably have better chance of winning the lottery. I've got loads of the tan ones mind (which again I'll probably sell).1 point

It’s so simple and effective, got me wanting one myself now. 😂1 point -
I personally think it’s better suited with a ACOG. I think it would look more complete with an older generation magazine and maybe a Magpul itself Should definitely leave the 203 on, it makes it! More press ups!! I always like the moe handgaurds1 point

Doing my bit for the forum's common knowledge - Just had my gun back from Negative Airsoft and it is AMAZING. The AEG he has built for me is now in my hands and it is a completely different league compared to every other AEG I have owned (always too hot stock, spring needing clipping, never enough money for upgrades). So YES, I highly, highly recommend Luke/Negative Airsoft. Absolute gent and a real gem of the UK airsoft community. His passion is evident and it shows in the care and attention he gives to every project, which he keeps you fully informed of throughout as mentioned above. He truly knows his stuff, and I'm almost convinced he is some kind of wizard.1 point

Well, am I glad I added that caveat. Phew, that's a spicy little boi and no mistake. I honestly wouldn't have expected that from such a short barrel, although CYMAs M4 and AKs do run hotter than UK limits by design, and need down-sprung for the UK market. So what I'd assume here is that you've got one with something like an M120 spring in it that should have been down-sprung by the importer or retailer. No harm in asking them if they want to sort it as a warranty issue - it isn't fit for the purpose sold. If they laugh it off, it does seem like you'll need to replace or cut the spring, and disappointingly it doesn't have a quick-change spring, so it'll be a gearbox out and open job. It can be quite intimidating the first time you do this, but it's not really that complicated. Just take it slowly and keep all the parts safe. Disassembly to the gearbox: This is a very comprehensive guide to working on a V3 gearbox. And yes, the trigger spring can be a bit of a sod during re-assembly. All you really need to do is to get it open and change the spring without touching anything else, but while you're in there you could lube and re-shim it (there are plenty of videos on that too)1 point

I might have finally gone too far... Careful VSR-X, custom brass parts made myself, Spring Custom Works SV-98 chassis and carry handle, real POSP 3-9x42, Monoloc adapter, white phosphor PVS-14. Uses custom cut 55 round VSR mags, overhops anything lighter than .46gs and can easily toss .69g BBs 120m (videos on YouTube to prove thats real range and not "airsofter range"). Monoloc and PVS-14 come off for day games obviously.1 point -

My project gun. I've got a tan Holy Warrior EXPS3 S1 to go on top. Tan mags are on order. The one thing I hate is the gap between the flash hider and the handguard. I tried loads of different outer barrel combinations to get it as close to the handguard as I could, while allowing the suppressor to attach, and this is what I ended up having to settle on. Will have to try and fix this later. I believe that suppressor is wide enough to accept an Acetech AT2000 tracer unit which would a cool bit of functionality for it to have. Still can't decide on using the black RIS covers or the tan ones.1 point

So, thanks to @Whats my first MWS build is basically done. It's a "close enough" build for a mk12 mod1 SPR (it's just an m16a4 with a scope and a bipod but ssssshhhhhhhh) I do also have a carry handle and will look out for an m16a1 front so that I can do a quick conversion to an m16a1 for 'Namsoft. I do love me some captured weapons Now I just need a 2nd MWS to build as a little CQB tacticool thing...1 point
