  1. I had one and fielded it for over a year before I got bored (it happens easily with me 😂) It is mostly plastic / abs and nice and light weight The only thing I did to mine when it arrived was downgrade the spring as it was close to 400fps on arrival & wire to deans Mid caps are hard to find, hi caps are metal and cheap 👍 I must be pretty light handed with my stuff, as I never managed to break anything on it. The stock mounted rear sling point obviously isn’t up to the job it’s supposed to do. But, as a lightweight DMR , I recon it’s perfect. A lot less creaky than the TM version! Pop a claw mount on the top, fit an optic, lock to semi and yer off! I loved mine! Yes, I never did remove the “HopUp” dangler on the front It made other players diss me thinking I was a noob 😉

  4. Gunman Namsoft is my favourite airsoft to do and the guy I get a lift with is no longer staff at Worthing, so no more of this only playing on the Saturday because we have to get back for Sunday skirmish! Looking forward to the 2023 season of it (I do wish I didn't have to wear the black PJs because it's awful camo, but it's a sacrifice I'm willing to make!) Yeah, I've done this long enough to know that, but I've had a rough few months of game days so it stung extra as I was hoping to go out on a bang for 2022. First it was injury meaning I could only play half the day, had an inflamed nerve in my head for about a month that meant my head started hurting as soon as I started lightly jogging and then had an injured foot straight afterwards for another month, then after injury it was various gun issues (had a falling out with HPA after the disappointment of last game day's leak) and a large learning curve for the m700 setups, learning what setups work in what temperatures and what internals work best. It's probably the rule I see broken the most outside of general non-hit taking, next to not going all the way back to. Either walking off to get mediced, or medicing someone and using them as a shield so the medicing player doesn't get hit (still cheating, if either player is hit at Worthing while being mediced, both are out)

Hello and welcome. Just find a site and go, that's what I did. You'll find your mates become a bit more interested once you start going, also it's a friendly community and if you go on your own you'll meet a load of new people too.

  7. *cracks knuckles* Alright. Safariland marketing and organization sucks. The holster finder doesn't work. Everyone hates it, even us who work with Safariland. That being said, ignore the numbers of the GLS platform. The X denomination is simply for the *mount* that comes with the GLS and doesn't refer to the weapons it fits. You can find GLSs in black, FDE, OD, and WG, left or right handed, in six variations not including the mounting systems. And really these six variations are just two - the GLS and the GLS WF (Wide Frame). The four variations of GLS and two WFs are just different lengths. All pistols that fit one size of GLS or one size of WF will fit the others, but you may have exposed muzzle or extra space in front of the muzzle depending. Now - as to fit. No GLS will fit a torch nor a suppressor wider than the slide of your pistol, while all will fit suppressor-height irons and dots, as long as they aren't too funky. Between the GLS and WF you can fit *every* pistol with a standard frame layout, so no Lugers or things like that. Tiny guns like a PPK or Glock 43 wont fit; nor will massive guns like mk23s or Deagles. Beyond that one of the two will fit pretty much anything you can get your hands on. So when it comes to selecting a GLS there's a few things to look at. First, what guns do you want to fit? G17s, non-railed 226s, M&Ps, and *most* 1911s will fit in the GLS, while railed 226s, FNs, Sig 320s, Berettas, etc. will fit in the WF version. Next, pick a length. If the longest gun your gonna put in is a standard 4.25" G17, M&P9, or 226 then you should get a "Standard Length" model. If you have a 5" Government-model 1911 then you'll want the "Long Length". Glock 19 your longest? The the "Compact Length" is the one for you. Got something really tiny like a G26? Then the "Sub-Compact Length" is the go-to. The WF models just have a Long and Standard. Based on your list above you need up to two GLSs; a GLS Standard Length (or Long Length if your 1911 is a 5") for most of the pistols listed and a GLS Wide Frame Long Length for the M9. Color is up to you but black is by far the most common, with FDE being a close second. WG and OD are hard to find though if you were in the US I could offer you both as we have a small stock. Who knows there may be some floating around the UK. All GLSs are Injection Molded and easy to paint if you so choose, so doing your own work is always an option. The final thing you have to choose is the mount. Now, let me preface this by saying that all GLSs (and the majority of all Safariland holsters) follow the same three-hole pattern, which means every holster (with a few small exceptions) will fit all Safariland mounting systems - a system that is quickly becoming universal. So if you don't like a mount you can switch. My personal favorite mount for all my Safarilands (and I have like 30 different setups for different things) is the AUBL, which is a UBL (Universal Belt Mount) with both vertical adjustment options and canting abilities and the VUBL which just has vertical options. In the UK I ran up to two leg drop kits. Then there are three heights of non-adjustable UBL (though most mounts still have at least 15% of cant allowance built-in), two or three different hip-height belt mounts, paddle mounts, MLS (Molle Locking System) mounts for vests, webbing chest mounts (at least, coming soon if they aren't already out), and probably a few more Im missing. That's really up to you on what you want. I've used all of them for one purpose or another over the years. Without knowing which mount you want I cant say exactly what your three numbers are beyond 57X unfortunately. Now, an add-on. There are actually a few more GLSs that are far less common, and not applicable to your needs at this time. There's a small gun GLS for things like P365s and G43s (though the new Shenandoah holster is far better IMO), there's an IWB (Inside WaistBand) GLS for concealed carry, and I think there's an under the arm version too for small guns. Figured Id mention them in case this becomes the go-to thread for GLS info in the future.

    Hi a newbie here

Hi Thanks, yep already searched a few things up now which is great, I have done a couple of skirmishes and love it, getting into it properly in the new year. Thanks, yep plenty of reading. Yeah I chose the L85 specifically as it gives me that nostalgia from when I served!

  12. for a support gun there's not really much call for anything more than your basic contact-saving mosfet. motor wise as mentioned above brushless would be an option for more longevity, certainly make servicing a bit cleaner what with not spewing carbon everywhere. rof wise there's arguments that speed chasing on an lmg is counter productive, and will in any case be likely more limited by the magazine than the gearbox. as with any gun it'll benefit from a good consistent air seal, but given the higher ammo consumption of support guns lot of folks won't be running the heavies for cost reasons which would put a ceiling on how far it's worth chasing perfect accuracy.

  13. Has anyone built a DMR using this as a base gun? https://www.patrolbase.co.uk/jing-gong-jg-t3-k3-g3a3-assault-rifle I understand the externals are ABS but is it of the non-creaky variety? I do like an interesting looking DMR but in reality some are not great to lug around all-day due to length or weight, so this actually appeals to me, despite the reduced realism. Anything else to be aware of?

  14. I personally did like mine; it was creaky and lightweight but nothing broke on it for me (just try to refrain from HK slapping it 😆 ). The main reason I got rid of mine was the magazines; all the high-cap ones I had, the hatch at the top wore down quickly and just wouldn't stay closed. Many BBs lost. If you're planning on using midcaps it won't be an issue of course.
    1 point
  15. Creakiness aside, no reason it can't be used as a dmr base, it looks the part & aside from locking it to semi, maybe a spring change & tweak the hop, your good to go. I'd rather that than pb's other dmr offering at £1.7k lol

  18. Hi everyone. I've recently acquired an G&G MP5A4 which, from what I can find, is only supposed to run on 7.4v LiPos. When taking it apart to address a different issue I found that the gun is fused with a fuse like you'd find in a plug socket. I checked the fuse over but couldn't find a rating on it. After a bit of internet searching, 20Amp is supposed to be standard. Would it be possible to run this gun on 11.1v LiPo safely or does it absolutely require a MOSFET to avoid damaging the trigger contacts or will the fuse pop before that happens? I can pick up a super basic Gate X-ASR MOSFET for £20. I want to run on 11.1v as the 7.4v just feels sluggish. Thanks for the input.

Welcome Jack 🖐 Yep, as said by our Madhouse, you'll meet people there and most of them will be friendly 😁 The first time alone can be a bit intimidating but remember its not a test its to have fun. Just follow a couple of basic rules: 1) Shout 'HIT' and put your arm up when you feel a hit. (They'll keep shooting you until you do) 2) No magazine in the gun at the safezone. (Before going back take the mag out and fire a few shots to be sure its clear) The forum has lots of info on masks and other gear so do plenty of reading and you'll be ready 👍

  28. A prison guard went into work one day, and he was surprised to see one of his friends locked in a cell. He asked his friend what he was doing behind bars. “Well, I was out doing my Christmas shopping one morning," his friend explained, "and then the police handcuffed me and brought me here because they said I was getting it done too early.” “Well, that doesn't sound so bad," said the guard. "I get my Christmas shopping done by the middle of November. How early did you do yours?” His friend replied, “About three hours before the store opened"!

  30. First time visiting Ambush Airsoft yesterday and overall was a great day, despite the cold and missing the first game because I overslept. Hit taking was good with only a couple of questionable moments but no obvious cheating. Marshals did a good job too, making sure everyone knew what was going on, and I thought they managed to find a good balance between being close enough to keep an eye on the game but without getting in the way. All in all I'll definitely be back

  31. Thanks for the input, especially on the MOSFET side of things. I've shot an email to a local tech/store who just so happen to stock both of the MOSFETs you mentioned. I've detailed that I would like the original battery connections swapping to deans and fuse removing if possible so i'll see what they come back with. Soldering & mosfet installs are over my head. I only intended on changing the gears because the ones in the gun must be stock and are already showing signs of wear. Might as well change them given how inexpensive a new set is. @Tactical Pith Helmet I did intend to install everything sequentially for this very reason in case I buggered anything up.
    1 point
  32. Changing more than one component at a time makes problem solving extremely difficult. Mosfet fitted - test. Motor changed - test again. Add 11.1 and test. If you want more development after that, it's exponentially more work.
    1 point
  33. I agree with Rogerborg; you don't need one of the in-gearbox units. A decent mosfet, such as the Perun AB++ or, if you do not want pre-cocking, a Gate NanoAAB, will do the job. Changing the gears to 16:1 will give a slight additional improvement but a new motor, a higher voltage battery, a mosfet and Deans will probably be enough.

  34. I tried Players of War again today. Ehhhhhh. Generally fair play, but it had all the usual airsoft foibles. A site that's too big leading to low density play and long walks to respawns (generally ignored), voluntary chronoing, no chronoing or test shots in game, marshals standing in clumps bantering, player-marshals doing all playing and no marshalling, no advice or support for new players, briefings that turned into pointless lectures, poorly thought out and controlled games that were either grinding attrition matches or over in seconds, and too many Lord Flashheart wannabes among the regulars for my tastes. Did I enjoy myself? Sure, laughs were had. Am I making allowances for it being their last game of the year, and a "school's out" attitude among the marshals? A bit. Will I be back? Doubtful.
    1 point
  35. Opinions vary (a lot) but a Big Dragon M140 motor, 11.1V battery, and a ~£45 Perun AB++ (already wired for Deans) does everything I need and more. Pre-cock/anti-brake, burst mode, and even with standard Jing Gong G36 gears it fires faster than the mag can keep up. I'm actually minded to use the rate of fire reduction to dial it down a bit. You can spend more on optical mosfets and messing around with the gears, but it seems that a half decent motor, driven hard enough, is all that you really need to get near-wankegun performance.
    1 point
  36. Thanks for the reply and the input. So my current upgrade list i'm looking at is; High torque motor ~£35 High speed gears - 16:1 or lower IIRC ~£20 Hardwired MOSFET - A Perun or Gate Aster? A recommendation here would be helpful ~£70 Changing battery connection to deans and fuse removal which should be simple enough ~£ however much some deans connectors and wires cost.
    1 point
  37. The first thing to do might be to change the motor for something like an SHS or Rocket high torque one. That will give you both better trigger response and a higher rate of fire. If that fails to please you, you could run it on an 11.1v battery, although you would be inflicting more pain on the trigger contacts and moving parts. if it is a rear wired solid stock version, a 9.9v LiFe battery, in conjunction with one of the aforementioned motors should bring a smile to your face while not overly stressing the gears etc. if you are going to go for a simple mosfet, make sure that it is a hardwired one rather than one of the plug and play ones; the latter do nothing to increase the longevity of your trigger contacts. Getting rid of the fuse and changing the connectors to Deans, if they are Tamiya, will also help.

  38. Yeah, I suppose that’s a possibility. The Chrono reading is what I would expect for a non tampered with TM anyway, so I’m comfy that it’s pretty healthy overall. It was chucking .28’s down range last week no bother, just no good accuracy at long range. Hopefully the fresh rubber will see to that Fps wise, I’m not going to tamper with it any more Im a firm believer in the TM fairy’s 🧚

  41. Right... There is (or certainly was) an issued single point 'sling'. It's more of a connection point than a sling because it's just a small strap that connects from the rear sling point of the rifle straight to PALS webbing (for usage with Osprey). However in terms of connection to the weapon it is for all intents and purposes, a single point. I'm not sure if it's still issued and I've not seen it used much, but there's plenty of pictures from afghan of people using them in recent years. The problem with that rear sling point on the rifle taking the entire weight is that it's now hanging from your vest i.e. your shoulders instead of your arms doing any of the work. Which can be an good amount of weight if you've got a rail, grip-pod, 4x optic and loaded mag on there (for starters). So it's best to use either the old issued 3-point, or if you want something that's actually good, get a quick adjustable 2-point. The other huge plus for a 2-point being the with a single the rifle will hang far too low and always dead vertical so if (for example) you switch to your pistol and want to kneel/squat or do anything else, you'll probably get a muzzle full of mud. Something like a Blue Force Gear VCAS (or any sling that works the same way) provides the exact same functionality as the issued 3-point, is far quicker and easier to adjust from a patrolling/standing to a fighting position, doesn't require learning some stupid basket weaving to attach it, is available in padded versions in all sorts of colours and patterns and most importantly doesn't have a retarded 3rd strap that sits against the TMH and does a superb job of hindering access to both the mag catch and bolt release button.

  42. It is the creaky variety. Also the entire front end is held on weakly to the receiver. Really easy to break.

  43. This seems a fairly common occurrence. I've definitely experienced it more than once. I shot two guys with my DMR, they walked until they found a team mate, who I also shot as soon as he got the medic band in his hand, he then handed it to the guy he was supposed to be healing, who was apparently automatically back in the game to medic him back in. It took another five or so hits of this three person unit before they decided to concede. This is why we can't have nice things.

  44. Today managed to be awful. Absolute unadulterated awful. First game was great and I got a lot done (set up my m700 at 2.25J and it was firing amazingly, probably even better than my HPA VSR setup) and I really enjoyed it, however after the second game I called it a day. Called out exactly what the other team were going to do as I knew they would flank around a certain area and so I went and positioned for it, however by the time they got around everything was so wet from the downpour that had ramped up that my glasses had fogged and my scope had fogged so I couldn't see anything through it and therefore my m700 basically became useless. I was just watching the other team do their flank, another example like last game day of being in an amazing position where I could start picking them all off one by one and other factors just making it useless. Got hit as I was trying to get some of the moisture off my scope (it didn't help...) and so then I came back out with just a pistol. Got in behind their flanking push and got two in the back, who called it and started walking off as dead men as they didn't think anyone was around to medic them. They walked about 10m away and as they rounded the bush, I noticed them walk over to one of their team mates who then started medicing them, which is literally cheating once they have walked off from where they got shot. I shot at him as well and they just didn't call it at all, then I got shot by one of their friends who then decided to have a go at me for not taking my hits while his friends were blatantly cheating right in front of me as I had emptied 2 mk23 magazines full of .32s into them with a fairly straight shot and no foliage in the path; was watching the BBs hit them and nothing happening. I called it anyway and went back to respawn, but no idea if they did in the end. Came back out after respawning, got in behind another one of them, gun jammed and as I was fixing it I got friendly fired in the side of the head. I called it there as I was starting to get more than a bit perturbed and being soaked through wasn't helping the matter (torso was dry, but legs and feet were soaking wet). Won't have another skirmish day until a month's time as my local site cancelled their next one on account of it being on New Year's Day and everyone would be hung over (especially one of the site owners... 😂), so I'm really bummed out that this one was so damn frustrating. Only good things, outside of the first game, was non-skirmish related stuff. I got a setup for my shorter m700 that allows me to go with either 1.1J or 2.3J depending on gas used, width of gas router and hammer spring adjustment, so that will be my bolt action of choice at both 1.1J and 2.3J games going forwards. I love the gas m700 platform; it's probably my favourite airsoft gun I've ever used and worked on in all 17 years of playing (and as it's just a regular m700 which was very much around in the 70s, GIs beware the farmer in pyjamas with an m700 and a ruger pistol at Vietnam games in 2023 ). Secondly, I got my two AEGs back from the tech I entrusted them to, as I can't do AEG gearboxes because they are techno-wizardry, and they're amazing and I'm so happy I just decided to pay someone to do the work on the everything-apart-from-hop-and-barrel. The m14 is firing at 1.05J consistently on .32s and slinging them out to where I need them to go, while also being lovely and snappy and pretty damn quiet for an AEG; fairly tight grouping even at 60m, so that's a useful, reliable backup gun (and again, GIs beware as it's also period accurate!). The SR-25 had a bit of an issue where the nozzle wasn't going far enough forward so the air seal was being crap and firing at 0.1J - 0.3J, but the guy fixed it there on the spot by filing away some material from the tappet plate (had already spoken to him as there were parts that I had that I needed to put in on the day before we could properly test it). With an m110 spring in it, it was firing at 0.775J incredibly consistently (lowest shot was 0.771J, highest was 0.775J), so I'm going to try an m120 or m130 to get it as close to 1.1J on .4s with the hop set as possible, so if I get it to slightly over 1.14J, I'll wait and see for next month when I get it set up and hop set on it as it will probably need a bit to lift those .4s at 1.1J. Quick change springs are wonderful things and the only reason I'm content to do that part myself! Anyway, I've waffled on enough, but I'm angy and wanted to scream into the aether.
