If it’s just you and your son keeping in touch out on the field yea definitely go for the cheap’n’cheerful PMR option like the kind you can pick up from Argos for a couple of 🦑 but do be prepared for a bit of bleedout from others users when on site with a lot of players all using a limited number of channels . There are many different more ‘professional’ radios available but I do think it’s fair to say for 90% of players the next step up is to go for a Boefeng handset that has a myriad of programmable channels BUT as Tommikka said you should have a licence To run them , I will also say in all the yrs of playing I’ve never actually spoken to anyone who has a licence to use them . Now I am not advocating breaking the law in any way shape or form BUT I’ve also never encountered or heard about anyone being prosecuted for using said handset for Airsofting either . So ultimately it’s up to you what you want out of going with Comm’s and how you want to go about it . 👍3 points -

Plastic guns are not always lighter. Plastic bodies guns can be just a heavy as metal ones. The receiver weight will only account for 100g or so between a decent plastic body and a generic chinese metal body found on sub £200-250 guns. Choice of stock, rail and barrel-length is a bigger consideration IMO for a gun if you want something light weight. Soooo......here are 5 of mine/my kids *roughly* similar-sized guns, stripped of their accoutrements such as vert grips, sights and lights etc: 4 of these are 'plastic' bodied guns. One is 'full-metal'. And the picture above is in weight order. So - heaviest to lightest (left to right): ICS CXP-16 (Plastic Body - Metal Rail) - 2473g BO Dynamics LT595 (Plastic Body - Plastic Rail) - 2327g Specna Edge E12 (Metal Body - Metal Rail) - 2054g KWA EVE-4 (Plastic Body - Plastic Rail) - 1946g G&G CM16 SRS (Plastic Body - Metal Rail) - 1845g So there is a 628g/1.3lb difference from the heaviest to lightest. There is only a 200g difference between the Specna Edge and and the G&G CM16 SRS. This is a very un-scientific review of their weights - some stocks are heavier than others (the PTS EPS is a bit of a tank, but amazeballs), some gearboxes are heavier than others (ICS and KWA) etc. but you get the idea. So - my advice is to try and get to a local Airsoft shop (if that's feasible) and pick up as many as you can to get a feel of them. If you can't to a shop - ask other players at your next skirmish about their guns - many will be happy to let you fondle their weapons (boom boom).2 points -
They can go up to 3W, but the last time we had this <ackchyually> handbag fight, I think we came to the conclusion that the 888S / 88E models come pre-set to low power 0.5W (and the PMR channels). You can reprogram them to full power, but it's only the act of transmitting above PMR power levels that's the offence, so whether they're (strictly speaking) "PMR" or not is fairly academic. And in any case, if you stick to PMR channels, you'll never interfere with, or come to the attention of, anyone who matters, even at a throbbing 3 or 5W. I reckon the 888S / 88E makes a decent argument for itself as a cheap turn-on-and-talk solution.2 points

AK105-VSU (11.5” barrel) I really enjoy making paint and environments work, spent a lot of time and collected a lot of Cerakote swatches and loads of aerosol tests. Some colours are very ‘reactive’ and play to the human eye changing quite dramatically in different light and backdrops.2 points

Yes it's fairly easy with the connecting lead and software to program the bf 888 so that you can have a fairly clear team channel. I've got 10 of them and they are pretty good on battery longevity and very uncomplicated.the only real gripe with them is that the outer sleeve of the antenna can become detached revealing the coiled element when going through bushes and such. There is a very short stubby antenna which gets over this.1 point

Now this can be divisive but I would never, ever use any kind of silicon lubricant if there's the remotest chance of it migrating to anywhere there is metal on metal contact, as this causes galling and your gun will literally eat itself. Isopropyl is anyway a proper solvent so this is what you need for degreasing etc.1 point -

TM FNX45 Metal Slide -- Volante
John_W reacted to winnerhomer for a topic
Hi, Sharing my completed TM FNX-45 with metal slide! Thank you for all advices shared. Have imparted Laylax hop-up rubber and stronger hammer spring as well. I firstly replaced recoil spring with MITA 140% spring for G-17. But with this modification, it requires higher pounds of gas to operate and affect performance more and less. Moreover, slide would somehow locked even there’s still BBs in mag, while applying higher pressure gas… Therefore put standard spring back in. What pressure you use the most operating your FNX? Have you encountered above problem before? Besides, Loctite Superlub is awesome!!! Thanks man😉1 point -
Hey guys, I am long time enjoyer of this thread but this my first post - and guess why: I ran into problems with some new parts I installed yesterday. My configuration: - TM MTR16 (2019) - TNT 370 mm inner - PH+ complete Hop Up Unit - G&P forged Sai bolt carrier (drop in) - ProWin Evo 50rds mags My problem is that after installing the bolt carrier it seems to scratch the ProWin mags so that it is not reliably closing fully and that leads to malfunction (mostly spitting out the gas at once after some tries). My guess is the ProWin mags have a taller gas outlet on top. The orignal 20 rds TM mags are running just fine. Can anyone help / maybe has the same configuration and can tell me where to grind off some material to make the ProWin mags work. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Cheers my fellow MWS/MTR lovers!1 point

Egyptian pre-dynastic civilisation 4300BCE Greek post-Mycenaean civilisation 1200BCE Thales of Miletus kicked off Greek philosophy and was born in 624BCE Kebab was first used in a text by Kyssa-i Yusuf in 1377 to describe meat cooked on swords and knives. Stone skewers dating from 1700BCE have been found on Santorini. The word souvlaki itself is debated but is certainly 20th century. Souvlaki is an Armenian kebab taken to Greece post Armenian genocide. Never been to NAF.1 point -

Wouldn't get too hung up on "upgrades". Barring a new hop most "upgrades" don't improve performance much and end up causing faults. Also, metal is overrated, most metal used in airsift guns is crap. Plastic weighs less, your arms will thank you. G&G overpriced these days IMO. Best getting something cheap and proven like a sub-£200 CYMA, stick 0.25s or 0.28s in it and go and have fun.1 point -

Kls77 reacted to Adolf Hamster for a topic
is it worse in the vertical spread than the horizontal? as a general rule horizontal spread is a function of the hop, and component alignment (eg barrel being wobbly, etc) vertical is a function of both the above and your fps consistency. i'm wondering if now what you're getting is the latter of those, specifically jack syndrome which i mentioned earlier. to quickly run through the way the jack works: 1.default state is reservoir under pressure, pulling the nozzle rearward 2.a shot signal sends air behind the nozzle, pushing it forwards picking up the bb etc 3.when the nozzle gets to about 1-2mm from the end of travel a set of ports is uncovered 4.the ports allow air from the reservoir through the centre of the nozzle and down the barrel to push the bb 5.when the shot signal is over the air behind the piston is vented, the pressure in the reservoir now pushes the nozzle back the issue is between 3 and 4- air is getting sent through the nozzle before the nozzle has gone full travel to seal against the hop lips, the randomness of escaping air is what's giving a variation in velocity and hence vertical spread. if your symptom is vertical and not horizontal dispersion (or at least, a lot worse in the vertical than the horizontal) then that would be a likely candidate. unfortunately there's not really a solid fix for this, it's an inherent design flaw of the jack and if you're building for long range accuracy the only option is to not use that engine. you want a closed bolt system, for polarstar's product line the 2 you want for accuracy work are the F2 and the fusion, with the f2 being somewhat more adaptable and easier to setup than the fusion. there's also the wolverine offerings although having never run them i can't comment as to their efficacy. if it's about even horizontal/vertical then could be a dwell issue, too much or too little air, hard to call without seeing it but the above only applies if you're getting pretty solid dispersion horizontally but the vertical is going off.1 point -
