Look at the Q&A page on the UKARA website Q. Due to service commitments I cannot play enough times when at home on leave to qualify. A. The time period over which you have to play your 3 games is at the discretion of the participating game site providing the 3 games are not played in a time that is less than 2 months, the maximum time period is 12 months.

  5. The problem lies in when someone new takes the incorrect advice and wastes their money. If you give out information unless you know 100% that its correct then state its your opinion or that you have heard it. Then it peoples choice to take the risk, when you post something as fact then people read it as fact and follow your advice believing its good and its not thats crappy.

Not much gun stuff, trying to make some actual 'sets' of camo up in the collection as right now I have a random mix of tops and trousers in different camos that largely don't match up, as well as a lot of things that didn't fit me on account of buying medium shirts for years when I've actually always needed small. 13. Definitely 3 I have broken the wire off the connector when changing mine midway through a day. Its not a lot of fun trying to nurse a half dead battery through an afternoon
    1 point
  14. I'd always recommend switching batteries at lunch if you have two. Nothing catastrophic will happen you will keep the cells happy though and ensure they hold their charge. Personally I like having 3 as it means one to switch after half a day and a spare in case one starts to act up. Possibly overkill but i'd rather pay another ~£15 once than risk missing some games due to battery issues.

  15. Seriously dont bother.I got mine to work by filing the internal guides slightly and using a firefly bucking above them. I managed to get ok results not great but ok. Problem was I only got it working right once after I uninstalled it I could never seem to get everything realigned right again. I wasted money and a lot of hours for poorer results than a stock barrel with a flat hop. Get a PDI 6.05 or 6.08 if aeg or an orga widebore if gas. Miracle barrel is a bit of an overated con.

  17. This. And not just because he said me. To be fair if you're just looking for a colour change then you're right about rubbing it down first - go for a final finish around 600 grit, superfine sandpaper will be too smooth fop the paint to grip properly. I'd make sure you get all the blue off, down to metal if you can but it's not an absolute must. Then get thee to Halfords and buy some grey primer (you may need to get plastic primer AS WELL not instead of for the plastic parts) and some matt black paint. Primer first then colour but work in light coats. DON'T try and get full coverage in one go or it'll run and look shit. FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS ON THE CAN. If it says allow 30mins between coats then do it. It's not rocket science but if you want a good result, don't rush it. If you want a more "gunmetal" type finish, once it's black grind up some soft pencil lead with some sandpaper and rub it lightly over the black using a bit of cotton wool. You'll get a nice grey, metallic effect. Seal it with some matt clear coat (PlastiKote is good for this).

  20. Mis information is mis information, how would you feel if you followed some advice that cost you even a fair sum to then find out it was utter b*llocks? Your hard earned gone, some people don't have the massive budgets of others and take advice and fact very seriously when they're trying to do things on a budget, so the answer is simply, if you don't know, don't advise! Same as those telling people to buy one rifle/pistol and not another make or model and saying the other is crap purely because they own one but have never even had the alternatives in their hand, knowledge or in most cases, lack of knowledge is a very dangerous thing, same as opinions

  21. Get a pro to do it. I cant spray to save my life which is why when I get chance after hes sorted out his move I am going to get Lozart to do mine. Rather pay someone than run around with a badly sprayed gun.

  23. Get the ASG B&T one. It's exceptionally good and much cheaper than the Marui one. I takes standard batteries so just buy a set of rechargeables from Maplin and Bob's your uncle.

  27. I've built a G&P WOC M4 as a DMR - it's fairly consistent and will hit a body sized target at 40-45 metres, but you need to be willing to put down a lot of money for a very nice wide bore barrel, R-hop, bolt with NPAS, decent magazines and the rest. Also a lot of time and patience. I wouldn't recommend it. Oh and miracle barrels are over-advertised, average barrels that have made it in the states where they tend to buy most of their kit domestically. Cast the net wider and ORGA, PDI and Laylax/First/Prometheus make far better barrels. Wide bore is your best bet with a GBBR as your power source is basically limitless. Turning off the NPAS on mine gives me 520fps on Guarder black, so making up for that extra bore diameter isn't hard.

Be interesting to know but reckon all sites may have slightly different guidelines Thought it was some thing like 3 games in 2 months to qualify and something like a game every 2 to 3 months I might have heard coz some people working overseas or others let it lapse and had to get ukara again TBH - think it is all down to club/site/retailer as what they themselves deem regular airsoft player I know I need to play more - think it was getting to nearly 3 months over winter I hadn't played and been a month or more since my last game - lazy sod deffo next Saturday coz I got some guns to break

    Loose Buffer tube,

if it ain't philips it must be an allen key or torx....... the bolt thread size should be M5 thread that goes into the spring guide of gearbox so I am gonna guess 4mm allen key might be required Not saying for absolute deffo this will work but cheap if you are gonna do any work... http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Rolson-28429-51pc-Screwdriver-Bit-Set-Handy-Tool-Kit-Set-Diy-Work-LOW-PRICE-/231521944023?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item35e7c881d7 HOWEVER - depending on how far down the bolt is the screwdriver may not quite reach without an extension as some buffer tubes mount very close to rear of receiver and others a little closer to stock there are at least two positions in various buffer tubes and the above screw/hex/torx kit may or may not quite reach on its own Still for a fiver delivered it could be worth a look - heck I might get one as I keep losing some bits in my tools

  30. Just get the Marui tracer its better than all the others except the xcortech x3300w and thats expensive. Just use rechargeable batteries.
    1 point
  31. Actually your wrong on every count. You can get better results with a prommy or pdi barrel because they are straighter. A miracle barrel is just a 6.06mm barrel with an insert in to aid centering of the bb, a firefly bucking works better when combined with either of the barrels mentioned above and I even got better results with a cheaper zci barrel. Wont have any real effect on fps, range is affected more by hop than anything else and accuracy depends on half a dozen things all making a small difference. As for expensive and hard to get http://eagle6.co.uk/shop/catalogsearch/result/?q=MIRACLE+Inner+Barrel
    1 point
  32. If you want extra range and accuracy there's a barrel called a miracle barrel which changes your guns performance dramatically and also increases your fps. The only thing is that they are £70 and can be hard it find in the UK but it's worth having a look.

    Zero'ing in

I'm not ultra fussy on pin point long range accuracy I tend to have a few sounding targets up my garden..... old metal dustbin - for when I can't hit a barn door @ aprox 65ft old 4pt plastic milk bottle near the bin I think maybe at 70ft I got a tall aerosol can to go for once I think its set up well you can tell by the sounds if you are hitting your targets rather than keep walking back n forth to inspect shots/groupings the deep TANG of dustbin, the THUD of 4pt & the TING of the aerosol can - if I can hit that I'm doing ok in my book (Garden is a awash with funny white wildlife dropping I tell my other half - think I'm going for a gravel path up the back of garden - must use bios)

  35. NO it looks cool and sexy but unless you do cqb I would advise Raider Short I'll explain why as I got or had most budget G&G's...... FireHawk has a battery in its stock tube - $hit battery options and still fiddly to install a 7.4 thin lipo you will be changing battery a bit more and stock has to be removed completely each time.... very short barrel - 110mm ok for short medium fights but really not great for medium & longer fights fps seems to be lower on very shorter barrels so I presume they stuck in a slightly slightly higher spring all the same they then changed the normal FireHawk Gears from regular 18:1 to around 22~23:1 This means the std FireHawk fires slower rate of fire than the other Combat Machines out of box yes you can use higher voltage battery but again where battery is located in stock tube you are screwed a bit FireHawk is loud - sounds good but gets on your nerves all day especially in echoey buildings/tunnels (also gets on ya team nerves but also good when you signal the start of advance - its distinctive n loud) it is more expensive @ £140 and ffs don't get the crappy HC05 DSG version coz that ain't got semi only full auto @ £155 my personal favourites would be either CM18 but has crappy midcap supplied - pure junk over the G&G high caps on other guns or Full Metal GC16 30th edition at Airsoftworld for £150 - not free 2-tone but very sexy snakeskin 2-tone service The CM18 is nice in tan/black but if getting it 2-toned you would ruin it so if not ukara'd perhaps forget CM18 That is just my take on it all - Raider is best cheap budget starter option @ £123 free 2-tone from Zero One GC16 30th - imho better than the G26 30th @ £150 plus 2-tone fee if req CM18 looks nice but only if ukara'd tbh FireHawk's are nice but perhaps not best suited for longer woodland fights imho - more tight cqb/urban skirmish Up to you - nigh on all the same sturdy stuff inside - stay away from sites with BB in their names

  37. Fairy Power Spray is about the best safe paint stripper out there Stripped off the thick green 2-tone from a Long Raider RIS and got 99.9% off and still kept the white number markings on the plastic RIS (very very minor specs here n there that you have to really look close in nooks/crannies) But it didn't fly off straight away - it needs a good soak for hour or two and stubborn areas - jeez Zero One really boat that paint on not just outside but had a a good covering right inside too ffs stubborn areas will need more work or even a soak overnight It is safe - I actually left it in soak for 36hrs coz I forgot about it but was fine People use it on loads of stuff - repainting plastic models etc...... But though it is very good it isn't a straight away immediate stripper and won't strip off really thick multiple coats straight away Moderately strong but delicate is what I'd call it about £3:50 at Asda Tesco etc.... - it is an oven cleaner but only get this - Mr Muscle or Dettol oven cleaner is not as good and grab a toothbrush - little baby kids one for tight nooks n crannies - get those from ya local poundlandshop will take a bit of time if you want good results - but that goes for anything in life I guess.... Most of your stuff could be metal so you could just use sand/emery paper to get the worst off But if you got or may still get some other 2-tone stuff it might be a wise consideration to grab a bottle for use on delicate plastic areas - well it not at least you will have a sparkling clean oven

  39. Yeah combat machine is the go to budget gun. Other budget recommended guns are cyma aks and jg g36s but to get them from Taiwan gun you need ukara. Have a look through the forum for Ian's guide to noobism there's loads of great information there. Bear in mind also you will need money for a battery or two, charger, eye pro, bbs, boots maybe spare mags and something to carry them in. Also you want to stay away from sites with bb gun in their name. You already mentioned a good place - zero one. They also do free two tone.

  40. Pay day came! So I rewarded myself with the following: Czechoslovakian M63 Parade Uniform set - £9.99 (sFrankish - eBay) Czech M60 water bottle with plastic lid - £10.50 (Epic Militaria - eBay) Czech vz57 bayonet and sheath - £24.99 (Surplus And Outdoors) Czech gas mask bag - £4.99 (Surplus And Outdoors) Got tired of trawling the internet for m60 needle pattern trousers that will actually fit me. The parade ground ones are a little big around the waist but a belt will easily sort that out. Now all I need to do is find a Czech shovel for a reasonable price (that is actually in stock) and my 1960s CSLA loadout will be complete! Granted it will be short an actual vz58 rifle but I refuse to pay the price Ares are demanding for their one - plus they haven't released one with a wooden body yet and I've always been a sucker for wooden accessories on rifles. My vz61 and AK47 will have to do for now... Regardless, expect pictures as soon as it all arrives!

  41. Ok so it's the one you are actively using it. Can't beat that sort of recommendation I guess! Went with your charger and two 1300mAh cranestock LiPos, similar price to picking up three 800s so why not. Fingers crossed it all works out! Thanks again, I'll report back once everything shows up.

  43. One of the things a recent post (and many others) on these forums contained was a community response and commenting on possibly overpriced goods that was to me - extremely helpful, and amusing. I have played the sport for near 10 years now, but am supremely ignorant when it comes to most things to do with RIF's. And with the continually expanding/shifting and difficult to swiftly research manufacturer landscape, I find it very hard to keep up, even if I do get a toe grip on some relevant knowledge. For example, yesterday I became aware companies called SHS/Lonex/Prometheus produce good quality stuff apparently. If the forum just closed down potentially overpriced items, or stifled discussion, I perhaps wouldn't be able to leech off other members knowledge and expertise quite as much as I can now, and I'd simply never gleam some of the things that might one day, be useful. Seeing members highlight something as possibly overpriced, especially with links to where it can be purchased like-for-like (domestically) cheaper&new is brilliant, IMO. But beyond that, a forum that allows the community to discuss and heap on the explanation as to why something is overpriced is a forum feature I would like to keep.
