I know what you mean, I had to get the location from a mate who helped out on one of their build days earlier in the year. Even in a pm on faceache all I got was "between King's Langley and Hemel". Not exactly helpful and tbh I was starting to wonder if they actually wanted people to visit. As I understand it this was due to the vandalism which makes no sense to me as the vandals obviously already know where it is Have added a link to there location to bottom of main post Dan Robinson, Tactical Pith Helmet and Cannonfodder 1

Popular Post Jacob Wright
Had an amazing time at the Stirling Airsoft 36 hour milsim event this last weekend. Think I got about 5 hours sleep in total, didn't stop doing various taskings including close target recces, attacking the patrol base and ambushing vehicle convoys. Glad I made it my annual weekender!! If anyone wants a full on rural milsim event then I can't recommend one run by Stirling enough, more than happy to do a full write up but probably not that different to the one I've done previously. Platatac chest rig ran exactly as I hoped it would and was perfect for the event - really happy with the purchase GeorgePlaysAirsoft, Dan Robinson, Nick G and 3 others 3

ghostwalker
Got in a half day skirmish at combat action games and loved it because I finally seem to have got my hpa'd g3 rocking like it should. Highlights including me and 3 others holding a small ridge o erlooking the endor base for a good 20 minutes whilst racking up kills and taking very little return fire. But the gem for me was a shot I made in the 2nd game. About 40 metres out from a bunker i could see through the windows either side and into a bunker another 15-20 metres beyond that, I saw someone's head bobbing about so took a hopeful shot, adjusted my aim and managed to sail a bb through the 1st bunkers windows into the 2nd bunker and right onto said persons noggin. To say I was chuffed with the shot would be an understatement. For clarity dmr limits, .36bb and I only shot the head as it was the only visible part of the target. As for the sniper rifle I'm not ready to slow down that much yet lol. My g3 dmr will happily lob a .36 70 metres with accuracy and hit a 80 metre target on a range with 40- 50% reliability and lob the occasional one onto a 90 metre target
Popular Post DanBow
As a complete newbie to the game, I've now played twice at Alpha55 in North Wales over the last couple of weeks. The first day I completely forgot that I am an overweight, unfit 50 year old and was running around like I was still in my 20s. A couple of hours in and I slowed down. Really slowed down but it was still loved every minute. Slowing down let me play a different game. I used to play a lot of paintball when i was in my teens and remember it being a rush of speed to get to the flag but, I've realised, airsoft is a much more tactical game and by the end of the day I was talking more to my team and planning the attack. I was absolutely worn out by the end of the day but I havent grinned like that in a while. The week after I booked myself and my 15 year old daughter to play at the same site. It was so hot, even at 9:30, that the old DPMs I'd brought for us were discarded and we played in just our t-shirts. She was a little apprehensive of being shot and held back in the first game but soon got into it after the inevitable hit. We worked well as a team, giving each other covering fire as we pushed forward to the objective. I was so happy, and really proud, of being there with my baby. She hates it when I call her my baby, but she is the youngest! I talked to a lot of people there, especially on the second day, about their kit and equipment. Ive already done a deal on a 2nd hand, but hardly used and like new, Valken RIF. Its the same as the sites hire RIF so I'm quite comfortable using it. I know its only a starter and I will probably upgrade to something better in time but for now its brilliant. The site is great. It's all woodland with a lots of different buildings, towers, CQB areas and the like. It was very well run, very professional. It made me feel safe. The hire kit was great, all well looked after and unlimited BBs. On the first day I used about half, of the supplied 2500 ish, over the day. On the second day i had to refill my carrier twice! My new spending addiction is coming into clear view! Tactical Pith Helmet, Jacob Wright, Cannonfodder and 4 others

Always good to get new people shooting bbs 🙂 Dont feel like you need to upgrade just because it is a starter ( and ignore the brand snobs ), so long as you are having fun with it. As someone who started in the early 2000’s, starter aeg have come a really, really long way, they are highly playable and enjoyable. As we were looking as the BBs I must have mentioned about using .2s, he said don't bother with them and just go for .28 or even .3s?
SheriffHD
Played Sunday at Driver wood - second time at this site now and I have to say it's quickly becoming my new go to. Perfect weather and great players, marshalls were on point and professional. Love how organised the site is and actually having fully plumbed toilets onsite is a luxury I don't want to go without. Game wise, two rounds of VIP to capture objectives, round of dash and grab for playing cards to score points and a classic zombies to finish of the day. Par from a couple of speedsofters that seemed to be annoying everyone it was a great day for players as it's always a friendly bunch. I managed to go ass over tits while trying to medic a guy only to get peppered to fuck while falling. Best part was two kids being in a tower. Managed to get right up to it without being hit but they went prone to try and stay safe. So typically I done what any one.would do, proceeded to jump on the shot and shoot while at the high point. Marshall behind us cracking up laughing. Tactical Pith Helmet
son of dan
On 29/08/2023 at 15:15, Dan Robinson said: Made it to Driver Wood yesterday, and have to say it is one of the best Safe Zones I've seen, clean, plenty of covered tables, decent food and toilets too. Chrono was effective - my new G36 was too hot, my L85 needed a few mags run through it to calm it down too. The game zone was pretty damn good too with plenty of vehicles to play around and in (including two Sea King helicopters and a London bus. I was rather miffed to discover that the non hit taker I was about to call out was in fact stood behind a fully rolled up window, and there was now two hicaps worth of BBs sitting in the back seat of the open window I was shooting through. LOL. Show's it's worth checking before making a knob of yourself and complain unnecessarily (see story below). Sadly I just couldn't get into the feel of things apart from the last game of the day. Not sure if it was me having a lot on family wise at the moment and not having the boy with me, or if it was the worry of my knee giving up (which thankfully it didn't). Certainly not the fault of the site. Games started off with a TDM, then various item acquisition and domination games. One criticism I do have though is that the attitude to spawn camping by the marshals was rather soft. Our team seemed to always end up pinned down to a certain extent, but to be fair the green team were much more organised and pushed forward much harder than our team at the beginning of each game giving them the upper hand. The best game of the day for me, was the Escort the VIP. Said VIP had to reach certain locations and stay there for 5 minutes before moving on. We had one amusing incident where I was helping him through the CQB area and we were firing as we moved. A guy (who was on his third day in a row thanks to NAF and possibly "tired and emotional") was rather upset that he thought we were on full auto whilst slot shooting him. We (then a marshal) politely pointed out that we were both on semi, and that shooting him through the slot he was hiding behind was perfectly OK, as well as the fact we were in the open at the time. His whining then went on to rate of fire, seeing as he lost all other arguments; and that the slot shooting rule was not explained to him properly. At which point the VIP and I just wandered off to have fun elsewhere. Especially ironic as his team were not the greatest at hit taking and we had been taking full auto hits all afternoon without moaning; plus there was some very dodgy hit taking and a lot of blind firing from one of his pals who was holding the big tower in an earlier game. For what it's worth the slot shooting rule is the same at every other site I have played, so why he thought it was any different here I don't know. My new fan-equipped eye pro, courtesy of @mightyjebus proved to be very effective. The only issue was the unavoidable "raining" on the lenses when the sweat was really pouring; but no amount of anti-fog is going to help with that unless wipers are fitted. A gentle draft across the lenses kept them nice and clear, with no problem of the eyes drying out. Pew of the day was the DE 904 - whilst a little short on range, the accuracy and shot consistency more than made up for it. Specna and L85 were working well, although for some reason BBs were veering off more than usual once they got past 30 metres or so. Shame to have missed @ASP383and @Asomodai, maybe another time? Will certainly try and get there again as it happens to be just off a short cut I take when I drive to my dad's house -so I have been driving passed it unawares for years LOL. I know the boy would love it because of the vehicles. One last amusing occurrence was a bunch of guys doing an paintball stag (judging by the outfits) do came up to me and asked if us airsofters were on some kind of military training - my reply was "nope just like you guys but with more realistic guns and better value for money" which is when I noticed their surprising collection of deactivated weapons for a picture - including what looked an awful lot like an AT4 rocket launcher and a Mauser anti tank gun. you lucky bastard. also bring some bacon to japan. it tastes like shit
Dan Robinson
Hope the boy doesn't read this....but it was a real banger of a day at Special Ops. About 50 - 60 turned up, but a lot were new players and younglngs. One of the Marshalls had their kid's 15th birthday there so a lot of teenagers rocked up which was a little worrying at first sight, only for them all to be really great kid's who made the most of their time. A lot of regulars were missing, which was shame, but not a surprise given the heat. Games were the usual fair....zombies to warm up, then some attack and defend. We on the skins side had the most familiarity with the site, so the day was a total wipe out, with one game won in 90 seconds, which on turnaround I think we timed them out.... the objective being to run through the church entrance, get the bomb and then get it to the tent. Had a few awkward moments, one being during Team Deathmatch, where I snuck round a tarpaulin barricade only to find a poor solitary teenager. I decided to switch to my pistol to be kind, only to find it wasn't cocked....but poor lass didn't see me until I put my RIF down and cocked my Glock and ....well...🤣🙊. The next was almost a carbon copy but with said teenager's friend....all I could see was a face mask....so face mask was what was shot, again though, I could tell it was a youngling, so switched to the Glock because the L85 was right in the limit again. Baby Specna and Double Eagle didn't get a run today as I was using the boy's Longer Specna we picked up secondhand from here. A very good £120. Thing is as we bought it, plus a good LVPO and bipod and was shooting like a laser. Only problem being a little mag fussy. L85 was a little temperamental, but that was due to overspin because I put an 11.1v in it. Switched to 7.4v and it was a dream until the riser came lose without my noticing - apart from having to aim into the next county to hit anything. Lunch as always was free, tasty and plentiful. Water was guzzled by the gallon (11 litres by my count) but I'm still thirsty as anything and peeing treacle. Fan powered antifog Once again was flawless, although the battery died about halfway through the afternoon. Looking forward to going back in a couple of weeks. Colin Allen
No airsoft for me this weekend; we had planned to go to a site near Stoke-on-Trent, but they messaged on Thursday to say that the event was cancelled. Our backup plan was to crack out 14 miles on Bleaklow, visiting the plane crash sites, but the weather forecast is for heavy rain and possibly thunder and lightning:(. Oh well, there is always next weekend.

The heavier BB will hold its energy, go further, and they're also a bit less prone to being blown around. You'll want to go as heavy as your budget and hop unit allow. C-Diddy
I do get the impression that the whole BB weight/FPS/joule/range quagmire is finally becoming clearer for people. Shame that there are still a few sites insisting on chronoing with .20g and using FPS instead of joules from the ammo weight you're using. His first words were 'Is my gun okay?' - he's a good lad. A good half dozen or so of our team stopped to make sure he was okay rather than just bundling past which I was very grateful for, but it probably meant the objective had no defensive line to speak of. By the time he was back on his feet the game over whistle had blown. Thankfully being an elastic teenager he'd not done himself any serious damage but the fire selector on his G36 had vanished in the tumble so I'll have to source a replacement. 1 hour ago, Dan Robinson said: Just so happened that this popped up on my YouTube feed in the bath last night.... https://youtu.be/JtYlIpIq2Xk?si=uUledUApwJ95canr Same (apart from being in the bath..), watched this last night, wondering what is the max weight BB our stock guns can hop. He and the other lad on our side we call Lando are known to just run everywhere and interfere with the opposition. Frankly most of our team barley made it to the Church before the whistle went too. After lunch they should have rebalanced the teams more, but there was such a large number of first timers and kids in groups, that is was more a day for people to have fun, and it was only the regulars really going for actual objectives. 2 hours ago, Gunboat Diplomat said: wondering what is the max weight BB our stock guns can hop.
