I sailed under a lucky star when the shop opposite me chucked out a load of slatwall. I ran over, asked if they wanted it, then tried to shift if. It's a tad heavy when attached to 18mm MDF! 😱😂 Got it home, all of 50m, put it up and then bought a load of hangers. I need to do a reshuffle at some point as I'm running out of room...have a big ol' basket now for mags as only two of my prws share mags. 😂😂😂

  4. Tried a new site, but by a regular host - RIFT: The Battery. Numbers were fairly low - about 35ish on the Sunday, and the previous day was about 25-30 by all reports. So under half, but this really helped the gameplay. Only a couple of rentals, and only a handful of people who have been before, so a bulk of people were in the same boat. It's an old Battery Hen house, so 4 large interconnecting hen houses in an H shape, with obstacles and props in the outdoors area. The site is CQB, but i like it as it's not all right angle turns and dark rooms (yes, there are portions of that) but there are also good lines of sight, multiple flanking positions and not just people stacking up on corners. No pyro, so you had to shoot your way out, and Single shot only, with a gentleman's agreement of no just shooting at a corner to pin people down or spamming the trigger, only shoot when you see them - this really helped people push up. If you locked down a corridor or opening, there was opportunity for the opposition to fall back and find a path to sneak up behind you. Doors and paths changed with the games, which is a nice touch. Being young and fleet on foot was definitely an advantage, so everyone actually ran from the spawn points, rather than the usual of a few of them sprint off and the rest trundle up. Blue team dominated the 1st game, so a few went to red to balance. Same story for the 2nd and 3rd, so by the afternoon, Reds had more bodies to try and make it competitive. Staff, as always, were on it. Minimal no-calling hits, and only the odd "I got you, no you didn't", as the spawns were only a minute or so walk away, and everyone generally seemed in good spirits. Overall a really good day, one of the best I had, thanks to the site. It had a nice balance of not being out ranged by snipers and DMR's, but not to close that you walked into someone around every bend and doorway. Most of RIFTs site are based around Bucks/Beds/Oxon sort of area, so this one is a bit of a drive way in comparison out in central Essex, and even though it's not a financially viable, the lowish headcount really helped the gameplay and pushing up. I would need to see what it's like with a full compliment of 60 to see if it makes it better or worse.

  9. If it's an Edge 1 or 2.0 - the removable spring guide should be threaded for the buffer tube screw anyway. The drop stock adapter screws into that. Source: Designed my own drop stock adapter for a Specna Edge a few years back - worked fine.

  14. So, just went looking for an exploded diagram for the Raptor SV98 and went to Raptor's web site (twraptor.com) and it's now got a holding page. I noticed they've not said anything on FB since Aug either. Anyone got any ideas?

  16. His used airsoft name, and name/email for Paypal was "Jay Fraser". Same gun, same pictures, same location. Obviously can't be 1000% sure it's the same, but does seem to match up. As I mentioned, I got my BAR from the same seller (Via usedairsoft) and other than a few issues with the rifle itself it went smooth and couldn't fault the seller.

  20. All plastics are polymers, not all polymers are plastics (DNA for example is a polymer). As @Sewdhull mentioned some manufacturers started using "polymer" instead of plastic because of the negative associations people have with plastics in terms of durability. The plastic that Glock uses is a trade secret but most people seem to think it's either DuPont Zytel or something very similar which is just plastic reinforced with glass fibre. Some airsoft manufacturers haver followed suit and started using glass reinforced plastics after ABS proved to be less than ideal for receivers (old TM M4's for example) and picked up on the use of "polymer" as a marketing differentiator because the vast unwashed masses neither understand the difference or care because they're led to believe that "polymer is better than plastic" when it's actually "glass fibre reinforced nylon is better than ABS". As to @TheFull9's point, I very much doubt that "influencers" understand what they're saying as most of the time they're just repeating what the marketing blurb says, so at best they're perpetuating a lack of understanding and at worst misleading buyers. That said, the market will support itself at the lowest common denominator so is it really the manufactures/influencers who are at fault or the buying public for just not making themselves aware?

  23. As previously stated, 90m at UK power limits is not impossible But indescribably improbable. UK Snipers are typically accurate (With internal tech work done) accurate up to the 70-80m area. Some systems achieve this easier than others, and some systems are able to push range up slightly despite our power limits because of other factors (i.e. Super high volume cylinders push heavier BBs). Before anything else, do some research on websites with may more info on this topic specifically - https://www.airsoftsniperforum.com has a treasure trove of the nitty gritty details for sniper work. Searching up the platform your about to buy on here usually gives you a wealth of details and such that you'll want to know to get your sniper going as far as it Possibly can. But to get the lightest, quietest and furthest shooting sniper you can, you've got two options - Tac41 or VSR. VSR is a more well-documented platform. With better support and more tech guides. However, it is a bit harder to get into peak performance (imo) and its generally louder than the Tac-41. On the other hand, the Tac-41 is an easier upgrade. It only Needs a Spring swap to get great range, But for the quiet aspect, you'll also want a WASP or other quiet piston, which is also a pretty easy swap out. Its a little heavier than the VSR, but its not as heavy as the other two Silverback options (SRS and HTI. Above all, slap a decent suppressor on the end of the barrel and that'll do a lot for the noise.

  29. I've got the Steyr Scout, completely stock except I fitted the mythical H nub. I hit 90+m with it, but I wouldn't dream of saying it was accurate for a YouTube "one shot one kill" at that range. I consider myself a better than average shot and I feel at 90m any more than 3 out of 10 shots that hit a man sized target is a great result. The point, for me, of a sniper is to be able to hit an AEG player at more range than they can reach with their shooter. If a good AEG can average 50-60m but have to be on "spray and pray" mode to hit you with one of 100 bbs, then you only need to be able to accurately hit them at 65-70m, and at that range, the scout is spot on, as I'm sure your SSG10 is.
    1 point
  30. What does the SSG10 not do that you expect any other stock gun would do? I mean, I'm happy with my TAC-41, and SRS owners like theirs too, but I wouldn't claim consistency at a real 90m. That's the stuff of YouTube fiction.

  31. This is why TM have always been so reliable, stock they don't aim to be the most powerful, nor the highest rate of fire, in return they virtually never self destruct, instead they just keep doing what their supposed to. There a lesson in there somewhere 😏

  34. I wanted to test the theory of barrel scratches, I took 3 barrels, brass, aluminium and stainless steel. Did a borescope video before on all 3, then used a nylon cleaner brush 15 passes on each one, then cleaned with tissue and isopropanol, then another borescope video. I was expecting perhaps some scratch on the brass but nothing on any of them. Just be 2 cents worth. @Yashy Have a watch on YT at how to remove and clean an inner barrel, it will also explain to you about how to clean and remove the hop chamber and hop rubber. If you plan on playing quite a lot this information will really help you get the most out of your AEG.

  39. Yeah, no one wants to spend money on expensive BBs, but we do, because it's a bad place to scrimp. Once you've experienced a gun with BBs jammed in the barrel, you'll pay extra not to ever have it happen again. Luckily, in these days, it seems most BBs are good enough, and it's only the very cheapest that are still rubbish. Those ASGs are probably fine...? If you can afford to buy in bulk then Warhead will be good, and you'll be playing very little more per bag. You definitely need to check whether your local site insists on bio's though. You'll not be allowed to play if a diligent marshal finds you're using non-bio where bio have been mandated. Edit: in fact Warhead BBs are the same price for a 1kg bag of non bios, though I didn't compare the postage. It's sometimes worth trying eBay for somewhere with free p&p.
