I custom made it by cutting the end off one, and the top of another, welding the two together, stretching the follower spring, sanding the weld, then repainting. Worked amazing well and gave me the ability to A: put more gas in and B: load 39 bb's in.

Not really. More so than an AEG but using less ammo partially counters the gas cost.

  9. If you ship a gun into the UK, it is always more or less going to get spotted by customs. I wouldn't class that as two-tone as it's not two-tone enough. There are loads of great websites which can give you a quality gun and will two-tone it for you. Take a look at proairsoftsupplies, zeroone. Anything without "just" or "bbguns" in the name. If you're at starting airsoft, take a look at G&G rifles, I vouch for them and I'm pretty sure that everyone else on this forum will as well.

They are a little bit more expensive than AEGs because the cost of gassing up a lot of mags, which typically only hold thirty-odd rounds each (for an assault weapon that is), when compared to the cost of a charging your AEG's battery, which might enable you to cheerfully fire off high cap mags all day long, is not equal. Then of course there is certainly a little more time to be spent lubricating and cleaning the working parts of a GBB if one hopes to keep it working smoothly, as opposed to an AEG, which could literally go for weeks without so much as a wipe with a damp cloth. But that is not necessarily a bad thing, or even a chore, if you happen to like guns and looking after them as much as you like using them. The main cost is probably acquiring a GBB, and sufficient magazines for it. The magazines for a GBB are typically 25-50 quid each, and you need five or six of them to emulate a typical soldier's patrol loadout, so for a typical assault rifle, you might be spending another 200-300 quid just for magazines if it is a GBB. Conversely, AEG mags are more typically about 10 quid and you can get away with just one high cap one actually, and as you know, most AEGs come with one of those anyway. Even if you go with carrying six low cap AEG mags for a bit more reloading realism, you can invariably find boxes of five or six AEG mags can be had for about thirty quid or so. Offsetting all of that additional GBB cost is the enhanced realism of a GBB of course. Unlike with an AEG, the firepower of a GBB is held in the magazines, as it is in a real firearm, so changing mags is a more realistic experience; the weapon is inert without a mag, unlike an AEG, so the emulation of a real firearm is vastly closer when using a GBB, even to the extent of field stripping the bolt and gas return mechanisms, which are often an almost identical procedure to the real weapon when field stripping a GBB version of it. The clatter of the action is more visceral than the whirring of an AEG and more akin to the sound you hear when firing the real weapon, the gas tends to give off a bit of visible vapour too, which looks more like a real firearm as well. Given that all these things add to the experience we are trying to emulate with airsoft, both when using and maintaining the weapon, you could argue that all of that offsets the additional cost, by adding to the value of the experience of owning and using a GBB. Trouble is of course, that they are notoriously crappy in these present low ambient temperatures lol. But come summer, they are certainly the thing to have if you want something which will add to the fun of things, and i would say that their ability to add fun to the proceedings makes the cost worth the price of entry. Thus at the moment, my GBBs - MP5K, AKS74U, Colt 1911, Walther PPK - are all hibernating, but come summer, they'll certainly be getting an outing, and I'll be too busy having fun with them to worry about each shot maybe costing one pence more.

  19. indeed - in fact my credit card screams at me to slow down springs though are very varied - I have gotta finish a crappy cheapo plastic M4 spring tester basically an old plastic M4 front wired QD quick change spring box with hole in back of receiver then I can quickly check some old springs out and keep/bin them and have a rough idea... Then with findings of old/new springs I can see what I expect to achieve if using them on my next build think most are too lame to bother with but would be good to get a "rough" idea of what to expect yet another bloody thing to finish off - then I buy something else and forget what I started last week

  20. This is my most newest purchase. Bought this helmet yesterday from the local airsoft gun doctor and airsoft supplier who goes by the name of Venture, he sells some real good kit and I love dealing with him, his prices are good and knows his stuff. Anyway, I browsed through his website looking at stuff, not planning on buying anything, but if something popped up I could make use of, I'd buy it, I saw that he was selling these helmets at Half Price, and had various colors, as I am working on making up a "Green" loadout, I got the Foilage Green helmet. It has a flip down visor, which I will be wearing ballistics glasses under the visor. Cant be to safe. The helmet fits comfortably and didn't require any alterations before wearing. Will post a pic of complete loadout once I find the pants I am looking for.

  22. So your proving my point? I said big established sites don't even always get that many... Yes but that's 1 established well known site. Sites such as the mall and similar or very popular but outside of those select few numbers are more often than not significantly lower. Getting 100 players isn't something a potential site could use a business as its not the norm. Saying 100 players for a new site is a solid number couldn't be further from the truth without a ridiculous amount of advertising.

  23. Gunfire - normally TW & GF sell them for 145 Euro(ish) instead of about 175 Euro (got 1 s/hand that needs overhaul & a new one from TW when they did free shipping) over chrimbo GF reduced it to 125 Euro until 2nd Jan and thought can't buy another ffs well as it is free ship over 69 Euro at GF and as exchange rate is about 1.27 Euro to £1 I gave in - £100 for L85, well I have bought many (too many btw) crap stuff for that price in past Hopefully after learning a little bit on v2 boxes, will overhaul iffy s/hand one and see how that goes what I may do is make up a longer DMR version like L86 if that works out ok with new gear/spring/motor etc... then a good stock one and perhaps a slightly smaller one eg: 590ish barrel + m130 + slighty torquey gears perhaps (if I don't break it with beefy motor) 510 stock, setup but running well 425 aprox barrel - maybe short stroke to "normal" 15 tooth to help with the odd semi problem & boost rof Well that is the idea or more like yet another dream/project yes it was offer too good to miss and money I probably haven't got this month but if Fire Support still had the ICS one at £200 sale offer I would of bought that mofo

  24. I have relatives I America. My brother in law lives in Dallas, Texas. I also have two cousins, one in Mississippi and one in New York. Over there you get a lot of ex-military putting that sort of gear on eBay etc and they go pretty cheap (~$800 on bids). Having relatives who are also very enthusiastic about airsoft (one of my cousins is actually in one of Desert Foxes videos for about 7 seconds). I contacted my brother in law asking if he had any nice helmets. He has three ops core helmets. Two in dark earth and one in OD green. So I sent him $650 for a dark earth one which is about £400ish. Over here, they cost over £1500 at the best of times mainly because they're all imported as no UK armed force uses Ops Core.

  25. Not really guesstimations... The numbers of players are solid. What they pay is established. The number of games per month is genuine. The sale os BB's and gas, thats based on the number of cases sold and their cost prices against sale price. And the 37k for premices was based on a quick search of viable warehouses. Granted, finding one would be a chore, but there are plenty of them about that would be within that price range (including rates, etc) and suitable in my local area... obviously adjusted for location... But still. And the 30k... I wouldnt want to earn much less than that for owning and running a business. The numbers are... More or less... Solid. At least for the purposes of a forum, and offhand comment

  27. Nh that sounds like fun....e Epsom tunnels allowed full auto but people werw not being stupid with it. It was mainly covering fire not half a mag into someones face. It worked really well. We were warned in the brief. Expect to get hit A LOT but also asked to be sensible with it and I saw or heard of No problems whilst there... So depends on the site and players really Id say. Bunker 51 for instance you could realisticly defend your spawn for a whole game 2 people againt 20 by using full auto as the layout works to your advantage. In some sites its not the case obviously.

  28. Rather than relying on the answers on this thread, you should take a look at the legislation for yourself, since you need to stay on the right side of the law in order to avoid a potential fine and/or imprisonment. Ignorance of the law has never been considered a suitable defence for any criminal activity, and there is no guarantee that anyone who replies on this thread is giving you the correct information, even though most will at least be trying to do so. Nevertheless, if you are considering getting hold of any sort of weaponry, you should certainly make an effort to be aware of the legalities for yourself, in order to be absolutely sure of your defence. You can read the legislation for yourself at this link, I'd recommend paying particular attention to Sections 36 through to Section 41: http://www.legislation.gov.uk/ukpga/2006/38/part/2/enacted You should also be aware that laws can change and be amended. Provision is generally made within the text of any UK legislation to allow the authorities to make changes and amendments to existing laws with minimal difficulty, providing such changes are not especially radical. This is quite a common occurrence with laws relating to firearms, since there is always new weaponry coming along, which the law then has to take into account, so be aware of the fact that the VCR Act does get added to and amended from time to time. Here is the most recent amendment list for the VCR Act: http://www.legislation.gov.uk/ukpga/2006/38/part/2 Once you are familiar with the laws, you will know exactly what you can and cannot do without breaking the law, which is certainly the most sensible way to go, since a fine and prison sentence is unlikely to be fun. In short, you would be foolish to rely solely on some strangers on a forum telling you their personal interpretation of the law to keep you out of the court room, because it won't. Having looked at the VCR Act, I daresay it will not take you long to spot that there are plenty of loopholes, gaps and stupid bits of the law which are not very well thought out! This is usually because such laws get fired through Parliament in response to a what is a popular subject in the newspapers that year, as some MP or other tries to make a name for themselves on the back of the issue, rather than the law actually being well thought out. So don't rely on the misplaced conception that the law is based on common sense, because it quite often appears to be based on anything but common sense. Historically, knee-jerk reactions from particularly the tabloid press in the UK has on occasion led to changes to firearms laws in the UK which have in fact been counter-productive, some of which have even meant that the number of illegal weapons out there on the streets has increased dramatically. A recent example of this would be when Brocock produced an air pistol revolver which used a self-contained air cartridge system (known as BACS). That particular Brocock pistol could be converted into a weapon capable of discharging .22 centre-fire ammunition, although frankly making that conversion was not as easy as the media actually made out, since it required a lathe, plus some skill in using one, and also required one to be able to get hold of .22 ammunition too. Most people who were not into the sport of shooting air guns had never heard of Brocock's pistol, but it became common knowledge when the tabloids started to make a big furore out of it, and predictably enough, as they do when a record or movie is threatened to be banned, the sales of Brocock pistols went through the roof, with eventually over 80,000 of them being sold in the UK. So, in 2003, the Anti-Social Behaviour Act (which was effectively the prototype for the Violent Crimes Reduction Act) decreed that the Brocock pistol (and indeed all self-contained air cartridge system weapons) had to be either handed in, or put on a firearms certificate. Of course since the Government offered no compensation to those handing in their firearms, hardly anyone bothered to do so, and so what that 2003 law effectively did, was put a crapload of illegal firearms out there which the Government had no way of tracking. It is known that there were around 80,000 Brococks sold in the UK, but only around 6,000 of them were put onto firearms certificates, but there were nowhere near 74,000 of them handed in, which means that unless everyone who bought one dutifully destroyed it and said nothing about having done so, then there must be literally thousands of them out there. I've no doubt that there are people out there who quite legally bought a Brocock prior to 2003, which is now sat unloved in a drawer, and who are blissfully unaware of the change in its legal status. But the law would not care about that, which tells you all you need to know about the law not being based on common sense, but also tells you why you need to make an effort to stay aware of any changes which might be made to it when you have any sort of weaponry in your possession. Since in his day, you could go to the local ironmonger's and buy a .50 Bulldog revolver with no licence whatsoever, Charles Dickens was certainly not referring to firearms laws when he had Mr Bumble say that: 'the law is an ass, a idiot!', but he did nevertheless have the sentiment right enough. But as stupid as the law may be on occasion, you should still make an effort to not only stay on the right side of it, but also to be seen to be staying on the right side of it. And you should make that your responsibility.

  33. Thanks for the info. This helmet wont be getting shot at to much If I am being shot at that means I've been seen and thats not what snipers want. I will be using ballistic shooting glasses along with the helmet. I don't plan on using the visor to much, i like the helmet the way it looks thats pretty much it. I am not sure if I will be using it to much either, we'll see. If I find a good loadout look then I'll use it frequently, but being a sniper there isn't much use for a helmet

  35. That's Emerson's cheapest fast helmet model I believe. You can pick them up for £20 and cheaper from aliexpress. The retention straps give it away plus the colour on the arc rails is pretty glossy. The inside will be what looks like black polystyrene correct? But it does the job of looking cool I guess. Much better option then going for what I did and spending £400+ on a real steel Ops Core Ballistic helmet haha. P.S: Avoid impacts like banging your head on cencrete or the top of a door frame as the Emerson Fast helmets at ridiculously thin and feeble plastic and DO NOT trust that "eye protection" on it. Before my ops core I had one of these. Got shot in the flip down shield and it broke/ shattered and a piece of it went in my eye so if I was you, just remove it. Which is why I splashed out on the ops core.

  42. More decent content for TF2. Valve have dropped the ball recently on it and the community isn't too impressed about it. Judging by how well the community has carried on since 2008/9 and how much it's grown, I think TF2's community has a lot of clout when it comes to dealing with Valve. Also some changes to World of Tanks. There's supposed to be some big mechanics changes and an engine update next year.

  43. Im such a massive total war fan have been since the original Rome game back in 2005. The "new" one Attila comes out in feb, to be honest its pretty much a big DLC to Rome2 but it looks alright will defiantly buy it. Im not sure if its just me but the gaming industry seems to have come to a bit of a brick wall for me... every big games seems to either be a modern arcade FPS or a zombie game which both i find mind numbing. Really wish a big company would make a good WW2 game, I have been playing a lot of Red Orchestra2 but.... idk there is something about that game that seems a bit unfinished. I'm looking forward to see what the modding community does with GTA5 that recently was released for PC, if there are some aw some mods for it I might buy that...again. Looking forward to when war thunder create navy battles, but I doubt that will even happen in 2015.
