Airsoft and tactics being mentioned in the same sentence makes me (as ex Forces) cringe. As one poster has said, fitness is the best thing you could work on. Just have fun and forget the nonsense.7 points -

I'd say the power limits are fine where they are. This is because, as others have posted, higher joules doesn't equal more range and one factor not mentioned is that if it did it would make many smaller sites unplayable. Image how boring it would be if both sides just got 10 yards out of their spawn and lobbed shots at each other.5 points -

It does, you just have to angle it at 45 degrees and treat it like a 155mm howitzer. 20 minutes later, after hitting a few friendlies, a stray cat and depleting all your ammo you can feel good in knowing you might have actually hit the enemy.4 points -

you bring what you're good at to the game. some people are good at sneaking, some are good at running about, some can think like their enemy, and some can open up the clockwork nightmare that is an airsoft gearboxx and actually improve it. so yes, getting fitter or learning to hide better is going to help your game, but so is being able to hit people at ranges they can't hit you. none of these are any more of less valid ways of gaining an edge.3 points -

Tbf you can just set lower limits at your site. CQB sites round my bit have lower power limits. Higher legal ones would be nice for variety, but it is what it is.2 points -

I think the current limits keep gameplay at a close range that encourages action and fun. I think having higher range is good up to a point (see paintball vs airsoft) but the 50-70m limit from a well tuned 1.14j airsoft gun is about right. Also, might be an unpopular opinion, but getting shot at close range by 1.14j hurts plenty for me. Much higher and I'd be less inclined to do CQB.2 points

it's a slippery slope, before you know it you will be making 4 AK74's with wooden furniture with the 4 different wood types issued over the years or making sure the AIMS side folder has the correct lever or button to fold depending on which version you want to model.1 point -

Surprised no one has brought up 'Silo Entertainment', Dutch fella who makes videos kind of in the same vein as Novritsch, mostly sniping but he does some rifleman stuff too. He sometimes talks through his tactics, in the moment thinking and and positioning. He did interesting one a little while back where he tested out a low profile exo suit which allowed him to run faster and save energy lol Someone else who comes to mind for actual tactics and methods, is 'Levelcap' (better known for FPS military shooters) - he has not made an airsoft video in many years, but go through his airsoft playlist, If I remember correctly he was quite good at breaking down what and why he was doing what he was doing in his clips and it was pretty entertaining. It's quite funny, one of the reasons he quit airsoft was that whenever he would go, all the kids would start following him 😂1 point

TWI Molot Mags. Help needed.
Austeyr reacted to TheInternetBroughtMeHere for a topic
I have managed to manufacture a solution to my issue by shimming the mag catch on the magazine with 1mm of extra material, and sloped the BB catch in the mag just slightly to reduce the resistance when it's being pushed by the hop-unit. The shimming allows it to sit just slightly taller into the hop-unit which neutralises the feeding issue. It could perhaps mean that my RPK-74M is a bit of a lemon and that mag catch is cut just slightly too short despite it having no issues feeding from LCT own mags or CYMA mags. It's a tedious fix to have to modify 10 mags, but a fix nontheless. No such thing as milspec when it comes to AKs I suppose aha.1 point -

All of the Airsoft under folders are terrible because of how little support the under folder actually has. Unlike the real thing which is a full on bar (I believe, been a while since I’ve had a real steel under folder in front of me) it gets really weak over time and will end up failing. The GHK is probably the only reliable under folder (but still suffers the same issues) but also the most unreliable internals unless you win the GHK lottery TL;DR you got a much better deal lol1 point -

Using 2 pistols together looks tacticool but tbh is more hassle than it's worth as inevitably you end up firing both guns at the same target but with badly aimed shots and then there's the issue of reloading. By all means let him give it a go bit I wouldn't be surprised if he decides it's not worth it after a short time1 point -

Make: HAO Accessory: Replica Surefire 556RC and 4 prong flash hider Condition: Used, light wear as shown in photos. Splits/Swaps/Part Exchange: N/N/N Price/Payment: £130 Pictures: Attached This is the full steel, heavy weight version of the HAO 556RC, which was classed as the hard core version. These are no longer available. Alleged to be able to withstand genuine 5.56mm pressures and offer actual sound suppression, although I’ve never tested this. These don’t come with a flash hider, but this will be supplied with a HAO full steel, 4 prong flash hider as the suppressor is not compatible with all makes of airsoft flash hiders.130.00 GBP

Up for grabs is a very, very long project of mine. A&K M60 "VN" that I have been lovingly working on for a number of years. The base A&K model is not really accurate to the real thing, having a mix of fake & M60E3 parts, which for a nerd like myself was pretty unacceptable. I won't bore you (too much) with the details and history but here are the modifications done to it to closely match a 1967 vietnam era spec M60: LCT Trigger assembly added with correct profile and correct ORIGINAL leaf spring added Modified top cover, M60E3 profiles filled, filed down and then painted the correct black gloss color Body painted to match the parkerized grey tone of the original, instead of the flat black they come painted as Furniture lightly painted with black gloss to try and immitate the rubberized texture of the real thing 3rd brass deflector hole drilled, M60E3 receiver had only 2 TOP (?) rear sight added, steel made, parkerized finish, rather nice I've got to say Carrying handle lugs filed down so the handle can fold all the way down "Lightening" cut from the barrel release lever removed Trunnion has been marked with trades, NEW ENGLAND MAREMONT M60 Handguard sling swivel has been moved to point upwards, unlike the angled ones on post 1970 M60s ORIGINAL gas cylinder plug/screw added and safety wired to the gas cylinder LCT STEEL mag/bandolier plate holder, the A&K ones all inevitably snap as poorly spot-welded ALSO comes with 3D printed magazine/chute bracket. All Vietnam war M60s had those installed by default, "mag" plate came later Original 1975 dated M60 bandolier to use with the box magazine, more accurate and frankly more convenient as it doesn't stick out nearly as much as the A&K one. I still don't know what A&K was smoking when they put these guns together, but it at least made for an entertaining project lol. Internally it has an airsoftpro hop-up installed, new spring and motor, upgraded micro-switch, it's deans wired in the stock, and the fire-rate increase/decrease wheel has been bypassed. I've always babied it as although these guns looks tough as nails, some parts can be fragile. The bipod yoke is still in one piece. Would recommend a tightening of ALL screws as well as those do come loose over time and some are missing from the handguard inserts. Works, though keep in mind it has been over 5 years since I have actually fielded it & played with it so may need some TLC. Back then it used to shoot at around 350 and had a relatively slow but satisfying fire-rate. Has mainly been a reenacting/display gun since. Any questions, picture requests etc, do please let me know and I will be happy to clue you in. Can ship, though prefer collection somewhere in the west mids.600.00 GBP

Not so much tactics but Bodgeups did some good videos showing what sniping is like in airsoft. All his videos are a few years old now though ad he gave up on the whole YouTube thing. I won't go into detail but his headshots aren't the worst thing he does. I would say he's a cunt but I don't think he's got the warmth, depth or ability to provide pleasure. With airsoft on YouTube you need to remember that 99% of videos are very heavily edited to make the player look far better than they actually are1 point -

Whether it would be OK is a huge unknown. Some retailers swap out springs (and leave the original in the box) to keep them well below site and legal limits. With those that don't, the +10% variance out of the box puts you far too close for comfort in terms of failing a chrono test. The Krytac P90 has a quick-change spring so you can drop in a lower power spring easily. You won't need to remove the gearbox from the gun, let alone open its casing up. Just bear in mind that M*** springs are not completely standardised so you will see variance in muzzle energy between the M100 springs from different manufacturers. On top of that, the compression and air seal within the cylinder will have a big effect so working out the right spring isn't an exact science. M100, M95 or M90 springs may be suitable. Whichever spring you use, I would leave in some head room to account for very small differences between chrono test readings - it's all too easy to chase a limit then find yourself over it when you come to the chrono ahead of a game. The Krytac model is largely proprietary so if something mechanical or electrical goes wrong, you'll either be locked into Krytac's ecosystem with spare parts or you'll need some expensive tech work to get it back up and running. I would also suggest saving up for a chrono for peace of mind so you can go to a game with something you have a good idea will pass.1 point
