Yup. Specna Arms CORE HAL gets you a well featured fire control system, rotary hop and QC spring and an aluminium handguard, starting at just £130. I'd suggest analysing the reasons why you'd need or want to spend more than that, e.g. to get a pot-metal receiver, or a stainless barrel, or spinnier motor (both of which are simple swaps). You can drag a gun through the SHS parts catalogue, but the extra performance you'll get over a modern stock gun starts to tail off pretty rapidly.

  2. All sites that I play at require that. Well "require" it as much as they "enforce" MED. As above, it's a cretinous rule that's guaranteed to result in more arguments. "He shot me while I was retreating!" / "He was out but didn't go back to respawn!" / "He shot me while I was still within 20m!" (shouted both ways) About what I'd expect from a site that's still thinking and talking in terms of 0.2g rather than Joules, and which only limits DMRs to "single shot", not "2 second delay" / "1 in the air". Not that those are ever respected anyway, but they're essentially saying "trigger spam at 1.8J, it's cool."

  3. I should imagine it's either: 1) Site owners friend/son wants to be a YouTuber and is sick of getting lit up as they stand in plain sight, 25M away from the opposing team. 2) They've had numerous mid-game arguments about MED's and they're trying to motivate the snipers to ensure they keep plenty of distance. Some sites I've played at won't let people play with a boltie/DMR unless they have a sidearm, so they're less tempted to break the MED.

  4. Absolutely I’m very fond of sneaky players (as opposed to cheating players) The ones who will walk around ‘non aggressively’ until the perfect moment to get the ideal kill or grab a hard to get objective. This is bad enough when players get butt hurt that one of the opposition got in and shot them first, after the sad player assumed and didn’t challenge It does of course mean an eliminated player may get shot walking through so obey the rules and put your hand up/call out (or even better adopt the rarely seen airsoft dead rag rule). Stupid rules make more problems, and advertise that the sites/organisers are likely to have more problems We play games that involve shooting people, and in playing them (plus running them) we accept that we will be shot too (but there are far too many who don’t understand that) Laser tag and nerf exist for them

The last of my RIF's. Was hoping to keep this as a sentimental piece, but of course the need for money takes priority. To start, this has been fully assembled by myself, all parts were purchased brand new and the RIF itself is in unskirmished condition, with less than 1 mag through it for testing. Check the pictures for a view of the internals, the whole RIF is like brand new with not a scratch on it. It fires nice and snappy on green gas with the steel slide locking back on empty with no issues at all. I'm unsure of FPS, may be slightly high due to the tight bore, however the magazine valves are adjustable. All serial numbers match, and the markings are the EU versions. Full Guarder built Glock 19 gen 3, with replica Surefire X300U, 3x leak free magazines, carry case, manual and all original packaging for the parts and upgrades. Build list - All Guarder parts unless otherwise specified - Upper - Steel slide and outer barrel set (EU markings), Steel night sight set (glow in the dark), Steel recoil rod and 150% spring, Lightweight nozzle housing, Reinforced nozzle and valve, Aluminium CNC hop unit, PDI Steel 6.01mm inner barrel, Maple Leaf Delta hop rubber. Lower - Pre-assembled frame set with FULL Steel internals (Hammer unit, trigger bar, knocker, sear, pins, levers, springs, the whole lot), Steel extended slide release, Genuine Magpul magwell (modified to fit), A total of 3 gas tight Tokyo Marui magazines fitted with nineball routers and adjustable output valves, and finished with Guarder mag extensions. Replica Surefire X300U in black. Also included - All packaging from parts and upgrades so you can see exactly what went into it, Glock carry case, Marui manual, Speed loader and some .2 Marui BB's, Spare hop rubbers. This took a lot of time and cost in the region of £750 to put together, I'm hoping to get £520 including postage and PayPal. Please feel free to check my feedback and am happy to answer any questions.

  7. Unfortunately, unless you have the original parts, upgraded components won't necessarily increase or preserve value, especially when you haven't specified the brands and models of the upgrades. I would say the normal 70% of current retail for the original gun and the RDS should be your base line. You should expect the sling, batteries and the unnamed mag to the be wiggle room for negotiating on price.

Assuming that you're still looking at the AR-15 platform, may we ask what you think you'll get at £400 on an AEG that you won't get at £300, £250 or £200 for argument's sake? It's your money to spend of course though Rogerborg brought up a really good point about certain feature sets coming down to the masses. I got back into airsoft just as saw the market really being disrupted with programmable MOSFETs/ETUs and <=6.03mm inner barrels coming as standard with AEGs well below £250 (and even below £200 for that matter). I would argue the point of diminishing returns has become more apparent since then.

  9. It's cool of you to pose the question. You don't see many HPA players saying "I can fire in semi at 1000rpm, is it uncool of me to use .4s in CQB and spam the trigger?". Like others, I haven't been to a site that bans multi-shot shotties. I think it's one area where the rule of cool actually wins out over nitpicking. That is, many semi-only sites are CQB sites and adopt it for safety. Many shotguns are lower power/accuracy than AEGs and can only really be competitive in CQB. My local site does prohibit binary triggers but again, that's mainly in response to HPA uesrs overshooting. P.S. Sorry to be so down on HPA users, but it is my lived experience that on aggregate, they are the least sporting airsoft players I ever encounter.

  13. Before going into my findings and thoughts on the Ares HPA conversion, it's worth setting the scene a little. I've been messing around with airsoft (BBwars anyone?) for close to 35 years. My first BB gun was a model kit of a S&W pistol that once built fired 6mm BB's. It lasted a few mags worth before I accidently landed on it while sliding over my mates Ford Capri bonnet while trying to shoot him. I'd probably get arrested nowadays if I tried that in Taunton again. In the following years I've owned pretty much every different style of airsoft replica. Not only every weapon type but also every mechanism that makes them fire. I've still got a GBB smg that takes duster cans that you screw into a hose, PTW's, GBRS, recoils, mosfets, snipers, both spring and gas and any other fad that has popped up. I've never really wanted a HPA replica for a few reasons, 1. it seems a bit of a faff, b, a lot of HPA'rs seem to be running around in lycra with drum mags hanging off a pistol and 3, I'm not much of a scuba diver. This changed when I was at a boot sale recently and someone was flogging a tank and regulator and with the Ares V2 HPA conversion popping up for sale, I thought it might be time to give it a try. Buying these parts looked to be at least removing some of the faff that I couldn't arsed with. Turns out that wasn't the case but that was nothing to do the the Ares HPA engine. Turns out the regulator I bought was goosed and even after watching a few youtube videos on maintenance, it still was goosed. The tank was at least ok until I tried filling it for the 2nd time and the 1.8k pressure valve blew. While I'm talking about faff, the filling of the tank is a problem. If you have access to a dive shop or an airsoft shop that offers a refill service then it's not to bad but the other options are, buy the foot pump or buy a compressor. Now I live in Wiltshire and since the sea is very very far away, there are no dive shops (or airsoft shops for that matter). I went for the cheap option and bought the foot pump. I filled the 3000psi tank up to 1000psi, went and lay down for an hour and proceeded to go buy the compressor. If you are old and unfit like me, or young and unfit or young and fit, don't buy the foot pump. Go buy the compressor but make sure you change the filter every fill as they get wet quickly and water inside a compressed bottle is a very bad idea. So I now had a compressor, HPA engine, air line, knackered regulator and knackered bottle. Thankfully the very helpful DJM94 from these very forums was selling a tank, storm regulator and air hose, which he kindly dropped off at his local airsoft shop for me to collect. I now had everything I needed to set up a HPA gun. My donor AEG was a ARES AM-008BK as I had one sitting in the gun rack. I didn't try to fit it into any other M4 style receiver as I thought I'd try to keep it as Ares intended and fit the HPA engine into one of their replicas. This turned out to surprising easy which was a case of stripping the AEG gearbox out of the AEG and fitting the HPA inside. I had to remove the screw from the bottom the pistol grip for the hose and the only really other annoying thing was the stock tube screw was too short so I had to order a M5x100mm from Amazon to put the whole thing back together. It would have been nice for ARES to include a couple of different sized screws with the HPA engine but sadly they missed this trick. One other thing I did was add an O ring to the plug that you connect your air line to. You can see the connector I'm talking about in the picture above. Adding the O ring stops you accidently disconnecting this connector when you plug in the air line. The last modification I did was cut off the XT30 connector and run a longer pair of wires with a Deans connector so that I could fit the wire down the stock tube and stick a 11.1v Lipo battery inside. The Ares HPA gearbox has the cutouts in the gearbox shell for this so it's a pretty simple task. So with everything connected, a full tank and flippers and wet suit on it was time to test. trigger response - fast rate of fire - 16bb's per second FPS variation - 1 FPS over 20 shots accuracy - surprisingly good for a stock hop rubber and inner barrel. misfeeds - none problems - none. Sound - very quiet Overall, this seems like a pretty simple way to get a HPA rifle. The low rate of fire means it's unlikely you will be donning lycra and combat rolling your way through the game zone. The lack of variation in the FPS is very nice, meaning that if your aim is true then shot to shot accuracy should be pretty good. Cost of the HPA engine is cheap compared to other higher end systems however if you shop abroad you can get it even cheaper (£115 from sixmm opposed to £200 in the UK but warranty will be an issue if bought abroad). There are other initial costs to consider if you are thinking about going HPA: compressor £160 Tank £65 airline £21 regulator £70 upwards Wet suit and flippers are option. final impression. It's a very quick way to get into HPA. I'm unlikely to sell all my other guns and go buy a bunch of lycra but I do see the appeal. Once you get over the faff of filling tanks and have all the bits it becomes just as accessible as an AEG. The consistent FPS and low noise make it nice shooting experience. One 3000psi tank will do about 1000 bb's on the Ares HPA engine so a 2nd tank might be worthwhile having. Now that I've lost my HPA cherry I think my next HPA venture will be the VFC M249 converted to HPA tank and a AEG nutsack.

VFC M733 Gordon Carbine Black Hawk Down. Just bought this on here but boss says no more RIFs so it's got to go, unfortunately. Coming with black hawk down suppressor and m2 scope with mount (can't test the sight as I don't have a watch battery) Also comes with 2 spare bolts one has a restrictor disk but wont be installed and can be removed with some effort. Some minor scratches from use. Included bolt in rifle has been set for uk limits for .32s. Rifle works as it should. Comes with the new 4uad hop unit, friction pro bucking and 275mm maple leaf barrel. No mags included. Similar suppressors sell for £85 on crw-airsoft. The hop unit costs £50 from Taiwan, so this was a bargain and I hate to sell. Selling for 320 posted, plus paypal fees. Or collection Bristol.

  25. 🤦 Somebodies had a ‘clever’ idea about dealing with minimum engagement distances. Its supposed to be quite simple, and they are clearly aware of the MED workaround of snipers having a secondary. My rule would be they can use their secondary, stay hidden or run away - and if you’re running away you can be shot. If you don’t like that then stick your hand up and walk to respawn.

Maybe I can fix stuff, I just don't want the extra hassle of fixing faults on a supposedly working gun as I buy them to use not just hang on a wall or sell on. I've had this more than once (fortunately not here) so I suppose it's a case of once bitten twice shy

  30. As a very keen sniper who does it basically every time I go play BB wars... yes, this rule is utterly ridiculous. If you're against a good sniper, ghillie or no ghillie, it's rare you'll see them at a distance so you're probably not shooting them from distance unless you accidentally hit them while shooting at someone else (which is rare, but it does happen, trust me...). If I could just get up and retreat without being shot when an enemy got a bit too close to me, I'd basically never get hit and it takes away one of the biggest weaknesses of the play style. I also imagine that people will abuse the rule to not take their hits. As soon as someone sees them or is about to hit them, "ah, you're too close, I'm moving away now!" Stupid rule

  41. I came across something this morning that puzzled me, and wanted to pitch it to others for discussion. (It's Monday, I'm back at work after a nice weekend and I have nothing better to do!) These popped up from someone I have on Instagram and Am I wrong for thinking this is weird? Referring to the "player may get up and retreat if within 20 metre range. (Do not target player if they do so)". As someone who does a bit of sniping this just seems daft and open to abuse. "Ooh you got close to me as I was hiding! Don't shoot me while I go move and get into cover somewhere else!" Surely this would just interrupt the flow of games as people get an 'invincibility shield' should the enemy team push up and get the drop on them. If someone not in the engagement who then sees an enemy player walking 30/40m away; unaware that they're relocating shoots them, only for the sniper to then come back in momentarily later it might just look like they're cheating; and lead to arguements etc. I'm of the opinion that (surprisingly) we're playing to shoot and get shot, and so long as everyone involved is sensible and sporting then something like this is just silly. A sniper, if in the situation where enemy players get within the MED has three options imo: 1) Hide, and hope to stay undiscovered at which point they can then escape or engage from behind. 2) Switch to a sidearm and try to either escape under fire or take out as many attackers as possible. 3) Get shot/surrender and use it as a learning experience for next time. Anybody else have thoughts on this? Is it a weird rule, or am I just out of touch?
