I've been on a fixed carry handle obsession recently so I picked up a bag of bits that theoretically I can turn into a CAR-15/Colt SMG at home

As I tried telling him 80-85% of retail is not the accepted norm here, add to that: 1. GHK AK QC issues 2. Its not a rarity so doesn't merit extra 3. TM and VFC offerings are much better and cheaper 4. Its Xmas and the market is flooded with people trying to offload gas guns 5. The mere act of opening brand new parts and putting them in a gun means that they are used, I don't care if they have been placed there by the Virgin Mary herself, you cannot charge new prices. 6. His payment method left people open to being ripped off. Oh and his annoying way of trying to word everything precisely plus the claim of being a Professor when he lives in a shithole in Romford all made me want to wind him up even more. @TackleHes redone the advert without applying the new rule 5, ban? In fact hes done it on all his ads

I'll never understand why a "friend" can go to the time, expense and effort of upgrading their airsoft guns but creating their own account to sell them is such back-breaking work that can be considered a war crime.

That's the thing though, the only person he's been let down by is himself. If he's posted something which has got lost it's down to him to claim for it from the courier. If PayPal didn't give the buyer a refund when said parcel didn't arrive then they could be dropping themselves in it. Of course if he chose to either not buy the extra insurance or sent it via a courier who don't take rifs then it's his own stupid fault. All this is assuming we're getting the whole story which I'd bet we're not

My first AR platform is my take on a KS-1, using an EMG/Ares SR-16E Mod 2. Yes, the optics are wrong, but I don't have the £6K needed for an actual Vortex AMG and there's no replicas out there yet. The colours are also off, but give it a few years and all the issued KS-1s will all look like this ?. All told, I'm happy with it, despite the dramas I had getting the base RIF. I hope it performs well enough. @PopRocket123 I said I would win you over with my next project. So am I getting better? ?

IMO painting the RIF (unless it's still flawless) lowers value as well. The fact it's painted will turn people away. It'll turn even more away that the paint is pretty scuffed up. I'd expect it to be priced accordingly - i'd be surprised if this sold in it's current condition though they could be pricing it highly and being open to offers so they get better offers? I think insured postage from PF48hour is ~£13 or something?

In fairness I'm just being lazy with a couple of mine. One thing I will say is, having timestamps makes selling a bit more difficult, as I use a lot of photos of stuff that I own...that's sat in my warehouse in Japan waiting to ship. I completely understand why it makes sense as a rule though

My patience will last til Saturday probably, after that they'll just start disappearing........

Mine sometimes does that too and as I understand it it's a common problem and can be prevented by not being gentle with the release button. Also if/when it happens I find it easiest to push the shell back in and hit the release button again rather than trying to lever it out with a tool

Less than 200mm is going to be less than accurate (yeah yeah "muh MK23" I know), as for longest? Much more than 300mm depends on what FPS you're running. I'd rather haver a decent quality 300mm in whatever length outer takes my fancy than trying to match the inner to the outer on a full length M14. Remember that the volume of the cylinder/swept area needs to match up with your barrel length whatever length you do go with. What's the use case?

Use heaviest bbs you can get, assuming you running full power. I use 0.43-0.48g depending on availability. And you should at least try to use an optic. Red dot or magnified or whatever, it helps a ton for single shot. I run a mix of scope and red dot on my SPR300 and both are great: red dot is lighter and faster, better for medium and short ranges; scope is heavier and slower to scope in, so better for longer ranges. Getting quick scopes with a red dot is very fun though. Also, get yourself a cheap chrono like the xcortech mk3, it comes real handy when you're testing power before game day. If it's above the power limit, just cut the spring bit by bit until you get it right. In terms of play style... I just run and gun with it like I would with an AEG. Play it like you would in a game. You will be severly disadvantaged with normal AEG power levels though. The whole point of a bolt action is to get a significant range advantage. You will basically just have to camp corners or jiggle peek because you only have one chance to catch someone before being forced to move away because you don't have the same volume of fire as a rental with a g36c does.

So an update, over the past couple of months, I've slowly sanded off the original varnish and just about finished recoating. I used 3x coats of water based wood stain (Dark Walnut), then 3x coats of Danish oil. I picked up a repro butt plate and tarnished with some salt & vinegar, it's not perfect fit, but better than the metal one it comes with. Happy enough with it, it's far from perfect, but then that adds a bit of character ? Original vs real steel Sanded Reoiled Butt plate
